Good value for money too"" February 22, 2021 5.0 I have been using for a few years now and Resource Guru is a really good software with easy and friendly interface. Since it was updated it got even better. The whole team likes it and we've never had any sort of doubts or problems with this software. It naturally became part of workflow. Pros You can add clients and project and move things around very easily with drag and drop functionality. The look and feel and their calendar is extremely helpful and clear. With RG you can schedule people and easily manage annual leave, sick leave, and hours dedicated to each task, client or project. We never required any sort of training and the whole team was able to start using straightaway. Cons It would be nice to have a Project view. This software has made my job so much more enjoyable. It's 100000 times more useful than our old MS Excel trackers. Pros Our teams really enjoy the ability to visualize our projects and move them at ease. Our schedules are continuously changing and being able to adjust our schedule just as fast make our jobs more efficient. Cons I think it would be great if the dashboard view for a person who doesn't have access to view the entire schedule could view more than a week at a time. Having access to view their month would be better. Additionally, the reports don't work for our team when we pull them. It’s a super simple, yet incredibly powerful scheduling tool. It was very easy to implement and there was no friction onboarding the team. We’ve even setup some automations using their API, which feeds the data into our operational reporting. If you’re looking for a resource management and scheduling tool, look no further than Resource Guru. Cons The only thing I would like to see them add is a ‘do this every time’ option when I am asked how to handle a clash, rather than making me choose every time. Our business is such that we have to rearrange the schedule A LOT, and it gets annoying having to select an option over and over when I’m switching people’s schedules and it’s only going to be a temporary clash for 2 seconds. That’s a very small complaint though. Other than that, the software is perfect! Currently we are scheduling 3-6 months in advance so it is a real asset to assist in giving customers a realistic estimate of a time frame for their job. Pros Software is relatively easy to use. It is not truly designed for a service type industry but with a little manipulation of the way fields are used, we have been able to make it a good resource for us to schedule our installation crews. It is much easier than many other programs I have looked at and our entire front office uses it to see daily schedules, schedule openings, future bookings as well as monitor backlog. Cons Program could use better co-ordination between bookings and scheduling as well as easier means to divide resources (employees) into groups (we did find a work around for this) Review Source UB Urs B. Compared to the previous software we've used, this is much better and easier especially for a bigger team. Pros I like how organized this tool can be. For our account, updates are constant and this tool will help us make sure that the team is updated. You can also engage with your team within the card especially if you have any clarifications or questions. Cons Knowledge Base Alerts - this part needs improvement. I wish there is a way to notify the team using the knowledge base alerts that would notify them right away instead of checking the "lightning bolt. Changing it to yellow isn't enough. It would be better if there is a sound made to make sure that the team will know that it is a must if you will receive a knowledge alert. Review Source JG Jonathan G. I find the simplicity of use great for new staff – particular working remotely. Calendar syncing with Microsoft on Mac has been an ongoing issue. Pros Ease of use. Simplicity and transparency. Cons Calendar integration would be great (two-way for mac). Filters show all people booked on a job/project but don't show just those bookings. Pros It carries pretty much all information from basic tools to company processes and should be able to find data/ information with simple keys. Cons Nothing much. I just wish if we are to click on it from a new tab, it would easily open it on there and not have to open two tabs at same time. Doesn't really make that much sense. They are very accommodating and the tool has improved over the last 6 months as well. It has helped us streamline utilization and project assignments. Pros I love how easy it is to see a view of availability across multiple team members at the same time. I love the ability to color coordinate projects for an easy view of some major projects across multiple team members. Also easy to allow others permission to log in and see their utilization as well. Cons I have to manually enter in recurring meetings. I have not mastered an easy way to automate getting our clients and projects into the tool. would be good to multi select projects as well to get them closed or cleaned up. Project Geotechnical Engineer Civil Engineering Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Great scheduling app for teams" February 24, 2020 5.0 We have a team of 15+ individuals who all have different work/ vacation schedules, commitment levels, and weekly to daily workloads. We use ResourceGuru to organize all of this information into a simple, clean format that is easy to read and quick to update. The main component that we use every week is tracking team member's availability to take on more work (or if they're overloaded and need help). We accomplish this by using the "clients" toggle field, which we set up with levels of availability (Available, Partly Busy, Mostly Busy, and Fully Booked) with colors associated with them (green to red). That way, in one glance, we can see who needs work, and who has too much and could use some help. It's a bit of a work-around, but RG is by far the best platform we've found to accomplish this simple task. Pros The user interface is very intuitive and it is easy to scroll through the entire team's schedule for the week. Cons The cost is considerable, but if your team needs something beyond Outlook calendar to view everyone's schedules in one place, it's a great option for that. I wish there was more compatibility between our Outlook calendars and RG though. Often it feels like we need to have duplicate information in both places. Reason for choosing Resource Guru We chose RG because of it's simple UI and the ease that bookings can be created and updated. Pros Visually appealing, Ease of Use and affordability. Cons We did not have a way to see projects that may have been accidentally deleted. We ended up building a program that would track this. As of 2024, Resource Guru has made this programming change to their system. I'm excited to see how this will work. But in the meantime, you can add elastic overtime if needed, and drag the slider for overtime to 0 if the time should not be marked as overtime, but needs to extend availability. Easy to plan a schedule months in advance and keep on top of near-constant changes that our industry throws at us. Cons We don't use the calendar synch as it caused problems I think because we are still running an older version of Outlook. We are in the process of switching to 365 so will try again. The software also allowed me to easily customize the way I view and organize resource data, which was very useful for staying organized. Cons One thing I disliked about Resource Guru was that it had a limited selection of integrations. This made it difficult for me to connect the software to other applications I used for project management. Pros Scheduling is really easy to do on the web version, I can book, amend or cancel resource in a matter of moments and easily drop and drag to move things around. Cons The mobile version on web browser can be a little clunky, it would be good to have an app version to make checking scheduling on the go (whilst at external meetings etc) easier to use, the same for booking resource on the go, its almost impossible to do so on mobile Reason for choosing Resource Guru I didn't choose this product, the company had it when I joined but was instantly far better than previous company processes such as excel spreadsheets etc which were unreliable and messy.
