### "Great alternative to WooCommerce Subscriptions"

August 23, 2025

4.0

We used this to transition from a WooCommerce subscription setup for a newspaper website. It provided smoother payment and subscriber management all with one software vs. multiple add ons required with WooCommerce.

Pros

superior subscription software for wordpress, especially compared to woocommerce subscription plugins. Price was good value for the amount of membership options provided. Customer support during initial setup was helpful. We used this for helping a newspaper website managing online subscriptions. It also seemed to do better during WordPress updates compared to WooCommerce, which would sometimes break the site during updates.

Cons

Managing subscribers who canceled services was always a challenge, and in our use case, having transitioned from WooCommerce, we had some customers overlapped in both softwares, made it tricky. A smoother migration process would have helped a lot for moving subscribers over.

### "Industry-leading membership platform that lives up to its reputation"

November 21, 2024

5.0

We've been using MemberPress for four years now and for the first time in the organization's history we have an accurate picture of our membership across all 10 chapters. Once we got MemberPress set up, membership administration could run on its own, freeing up time for more high-value member interactions. This is extremely important for our all-volunteer organization.

Pros

It offers a full-function membership platform with a wide variety of integrations and a responsive support team.

Cons

Organizational memberships are not as easy to administer as they could be and the integration with MailChimp doesn't sync changes to email addresses.

### "Subscription Model has changed - \* WARNING\* -"

May 17, 2022

1.0

Absolutely terrible.

Pros

Easy to set-up and manage multiple memberships and protect various Wordpress content,

Cons

Memberpress was sold in Dec 2021 \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] who has completely changed the plugin and the subscription model. Unlike other Wordpress plugins, once your 12 month 'licence' expires you are completely locked out from the back-end of the plugin and prohibited from managing any users or memberships unless you pay $$$. This is completely unethical and we have removed Memberpress from approx 80+ websites we manage for clients.

### "MemberPress has all the Gotchas figured out!"

May 12, 2022

5.0

I've been using MP with Learndash for my online Academy for 4+ years and couldn't be happier!

Pros

MemberPress has figured out all the things that could go wrong or that you might need in a membership/course situation and has it covered, in spades. The documentation and support (critical factors) are excellent.

Cons

I wish there could be upsell and cross-sell opportunities built into the shopping cart.

Reason for choosing MemberPress

At the time I also needed an LMS (before MP had courses) and MP works well with Learndash.

### "6 + years user on multiple websites"

April 21, 2021

5.0

Since I transitioned to Memberpress I have had 0 issues with membership management! I will be a loyal customer.

Pros

Over the 6 years that I have been using Memberpress I have had no issues at all with the membership management. I like the ease of use. The not complicated setup and the fact that it is dependable. It keeps up with the changing internet!

Cons

I am very comfortable with this software. I would suggest to include more metrics on the reports such as Total income per user / total income per product. Some ability to create pivot tables and charts would be great! I would also like the ability to Upsell if someone clicks on cancel membership. That would be great to add.

### "A dream to implement"

March 8, 2022

5.0

Pros

Setting up a membership site was so easy to do. In the past I've seen clients with hal a dozen plugins to create membership sites, especially if they have Woo as well! But Memberpress wraps everything up neatly and still manages to be time-efficient and optimised for speed. It was really easy to setup and get going, really intuitive.

Cons

I found that some output, for example the "My Account" widget is unable to be styled using settings. If you don't want vanilla you have to break out the Chrome Inspector and create your own custom css. While I can do that, a lot of people cannot.

I was previously using Woo + LearnDash + Cart Flows. It was a nightmare to setup and implement. Plus each of these systems requires additional plugins to add other features. So all up it was weighing in with 9 or 10 plugins. Thats a lot of plugins and points of failure, not to mention the security risks of compromised code and the speed impact of too many plugins. Memberpress allowed me to clean up my plugins list and make things neat and tidy in the admin area, but whilst bringing the power the woo learndash stack had

Overall i love memberpress and am glad i found it. I think it is awesome!

Pros

Cons

### "The course add-on is simply the best"

January 8, 2021

5.0

Pros

After struggling for months (and at each and every WP update) with a different LMS plugin, I finally transferred all my courses on MemberPress. I cannot tell you how much everything changed in better, I have now no more issues and finally I can manage all my courses and memberships from one and plugin! I love this add-on.

Cons

I don't have any complaint, especially after the Elementor integration now MemberPress seem to have all the elements and qualities I wished for.

### "After Much Research, It Was a Great Choice"

December 28, 2020

I love having my membership site ready to go without weeks of work to get there.

Pros

I liked how easy it was to put my private pages behind a paywall. It was quite user friendly.

Cons

I did have some difficulty adding Stripe and Paypal and lacked confidence that it all worked, but in the end it did! Also, it did not integrate with my email provider, SendinBlue.

### "MemberPress is good, but it could also get better."

May 14, 2021

5.0

I considered a few alternatives before settling for MemberPress. So far, I can say that I made the right choice. Even though it lacks certain features, the core functionality it provides makes it the perfect fit.

Pros

MemberPress gives you all the things you need to build a functional membership site on WordPress. While working on a client's website, it was the only WP membership plugin that allowed me to use a local payment gateway (PayStack) right out of the box by installing a ready-made addon. There was absolutely no need to buy this separately or manually write the code for it. Also, being able to create corporate membership is a big plus.

Cons

MemberPress lacks a member directory with complete profiles on the front end. I've seen some WP membership plugin with this and this makes one wonder why it's not included.

Alternatives considered

[Restrict Content Pro](https://www.capterra.com/p/211324/Restrict-Content-Pro/)

Reason for choosing MemberPress

MemberPress seemed to have more features and fitted my client's needs better.

### "MemberPress is An Excellent Value"

August 17, 2025

5.0

Overall I really was impressed with MemberPress, the tiers of value, and the easy way you can scale up when needed. I used it for a custom site for a client, and they loved all the features.

Pros

I really appreciated the ease of use that MemberPress gave in conjunction with WordPress, and it’s easy to create new membership styles and the reports are very helpful.

Cons

I don’t have many complaints, overall it was a pretty seamless process. It offers a lot of value for the price, so really no problems.

### "MemberPress Review 2022"

April 13, 2022

5.0

I enjoy working with this tool because of the flexibility and comfort it provides. Would recommend trying it for yourself.

Pros

I own a couple of private course websites, one on internet marketing and the other on HTML. These membership websites were mounted using member press. This plugin empowers content creators with a lot of helpful features to protect and monetize their hard work. It's true it's not perfect, however, I haven't found better elsewhere. It's just easy to use and completely transforms your website into a nice-looking membership website. I use the course features because it provides wide content accessibility which I find useful for my visitors. In 2020 we made more than $18,000 from our membership sites with over 32,000 students enrolled. Although this may not be a lot, it's an accomplishment and I'm very proud of that.

Cons

Based on pricing, I think they should provide more modern stylish templates that will logically amend their subscription charges. Not every user is code-savvy and might tend to bounce back if the appearance does not match their intents. I, in particular, do not appreciate the quality of form styling they offer.

### "Discovery of this software was a dream come true!"

June 24, 2021

5.0

I'll have to do a follow-up review to honestly answer this question. Right now, I'm very euphoric and amygdala activated due to searching so long and not finding anything. TRUST ME...I'll provide a follow up on my YouTube channel.

Pros

(1) The tiered membership subscription capability (2) Online Course content being on the same software as the membership and community software - all one price and not having to purchase additional plug-ins. (3) This was one of the only membership/course platforms that accepts authorize.net as a payment gateway which is required by my Electronic Health Record Company. (4) The integration with Divi Theme - I'm a TRUE Divi girl!!

Cons

The PRICE!!!!!!!! This is one of the most expensive software on the market. I think Restrict User was close in price; however, their top tier price option provided a lifetime membership. This exorbitant price has to be paid annually and it's actually priced even HIGHER with renewal!!.

### "Comprehensive WordPress plugin"

October 12, 2021

5.0

I utilize MemberPress to form complex enrollment frameworks for nonprofits that require numerous enrollment levels at distinctive costs, counting the capacity to auto-renew enrollments and sent out robotized update emails. For numerous nonprofits, the administrative burden of overseeing participations can be choking. MemberPress makes so much of that work disappear.

Pros

Once set up, the plugin makes taking installments and keeping track of individuals a breeze. It's all for the most part computerized, so there's not much extra exertion that goes into collecting data, sending e-mail reactions, taking installments, etc.

Cons

There's nothing I do not like. Maybe, as a recommendation, there can be a few preset styles for the member's account dashboard in WordPress. In spite of the fact that it's utilitarian and works impeccably, it's maybe a bit essential in plan. It can be effortlessly customized with some HTML and CSS but this takes time and so presets would offer assistance with the plan handle.

### "Easy to use with plenty of features and great for developers"

August 30, 2021

4.0

My overall experience has been great and i would highly recommend this product. i will also use it on my other future client sites.

Pros

I am using Memberpress in conjunction with its addon 'Corporate addon' to allow my users to create teams, with parent and child accounts. This plugin is brilliant in what it offers out of the box. It is very easy to configure and as a developer is easy to work with.

Cons

There is a fair bit of trial and error to get to what you need it to do, however I would consider this normal anyway. I did find it hard to work out if you can restrict users to only one membership or not and will need to ask support directly for this information. IF you cannot add such a restriction, i would consider this a negative. It is a little on the expensive side (at full price the cost of the pro version would come in at $2995 over the course of 5 years)

Reason for choosing MemberPress

I felt that memberpress had more to offer out of the box and was easier to work with as a developer. I also didnt want to be tied to woocommerce.

### "Highly recommend! We use Memberpress for ALL of our courses..."

June 30, 2022

5.0

We've been using Memberpress since 2015 for ALL of our Bucketlist Bombshells Academy courses (10+) and our Profit & Thrive 2022 Conference replay line-up of workshops hosted by industry leading female CEOS. I highly recommend this platform to anyone looking to build an online course or content membership hub!

Pros

What I like most about the product is the customization. I can customize everything to meet my needs and it integrates with every software I use in my sales funnel.

Cons

The only con would be, I would love to be able to view log history. I can see the last date they logged in, but would love a way to see the entire history of login for each member. This would help me better understand my successful students versus ones who don't finish the course.

Pros

Cons

Pros

5.0

We had to pivot rapidly (thanks COVID) from in-person classes to delivering all our Pilates, Yoga and fitness training online. We implemented the entire online learning portal using our current website and adding MemberPress to control access to content across our many offerings. In order to keep the business afloat, we only a few days to make this all happen and I would have not been able to do it without MemberPress and it's simple usability. No, I didn't sleep for 3 days but we did it!

Pros

Easy to implement Drag & Drop is great Easy to create a module template and reuse it over and over within a course Stripe integration is great (and the only payment gateway I will now use)

Cons

PayPal integration is clunky - but that's more a PayPal issue than MP.

Reason for choosing MemberPress

Functionality, Ease of use, I chose the expensive option but felt for commercial use it needed to have that extra functionality.
