Check out with multiple invoices is a nightmare.

Pros

Quick and easy to learn. Videos and online training is beneficial.

Cons

There are a lot of glitches in the program. Limited options for a lot of things. Rabies certificate doesn’t print automatically at check out. Inventory can’t link several items.

### "Hippo is okay"

It has been an okay experience. We do have some frustrations with just tracking of things but they are minimal problems.

Pros

I like the ability to get into the system from anywhere. It makes my ability as a receptionist to help clients even when we are closed.

Cons

We have had some difficulties with reoccurring appointments stopping all the sudden. As well as inventory issues.

### "Hippo help us a lot!"

We were looking for a program offering support for a busy veterinarian. We were also looking for support and information when using it. We were comparing prices and quality and Hippo was the best option in the market.

Pros

The program contains all features that a Veterinary needs for having information about our clients and their pets. We use it in our daily work and the information is clear and quickly available. We have main information about the patient at a glance. It is very useful.

Cons

It is not easy to change from one client to another. Sometimes we write information in patient data that belongs to another.

### "Used to be good but now it is a nightmare!!"

Very little customer support. It took almost a year for them to solve some of our issues. We just went by Now with the new version... it is a royal nightmare and I want to wake up.

Pros

Previous version was all I ever wanted in a software for my practice. Highly effective, simple, user friendly.

Cons

Until they launched they new version everything went down and fast! This new version is slowing down my practice, we spend a lot of time clicking and getting rid of unwanted pop-up windows all day. Just to add one vaccine there are 4 clicks involved!!! Imagine if you have multiple patients with annual vaccines.

Reason for choosing Hippo Manager

Because I thought it would help my practice, but not anymore.

### "Non existent customer support"

The fact that it is cloud based meaning I could easily access it from home

Cons

The Customer support is absolutely horrendous do yourself a favor and don't bother with the software, the questions are not answered promptly if at all, I have been waiting 2 months for an answer to some very simple questions they still have yet to respond, and I don't believe they will, unfortunately this is typical.

Reason for choosing Hippo Manager

I chose Hippo manager based on price and convenience, the fact that it is cloud based.

So far I'm further educating myself within the software but I am learning and intrigued

Pros

What I like most about the software is that there is a vast variety of things that can be done meaning that there is plenty of resources and areas that can be utilized within this program. To wear everything or a lot of our information can just be contained or stored in one area.

Cons

I don't like that we can't add or subtract things on our own that we have to contact hippo to do so. Such as wanting to add our own soap forms or our own euthanasia forms it doesn't give us the option to do so or to edit such forms to our own liking. They also say that they're supposed to be less clicking done of the mouse in this program but it appears to me that there is more or a lot of unnecessary clicking needing to be done.

### "Robust cloud PIMS"

Overall, Hippo provides great functionality and great value. It does exactly what we need it to do. The support team are also very friendly and are always willing to help.

Pros

Hippo is easy to use and relatively intuitive. It allows all of our vets to access the system from wherever they are. As an ambulatory practice this is a critical feature.

Cons

As with any software, it can take a while to get used to using the system. There are more features than we actually need/use but that's not really a bad thing!

Overall Hippo works really well. There are just a few things that just don't make sense to us.

Pros

The ease of scheduling in Hippo is fantastic. It is very modernized and customizable for our practice and we appreciate that.

Cons

It is not the most user friendly software in terms of things that would help office/clinic flow. The inventory has been a long issue with Hippo and we are just finally getting it back on track. We also struggle with how to set up our schedule so there are blocks for where we should and should not schedule patients. It is very clunky. There are a ton of steps for things that really only need one step. When you adjust or change things in a scheduled appointment it does not switch the active client over and just leaves it as the previous one even though you are doing work for that specific client. We also do not like that we are unable to print off certain reports or fix things in our system without contacting Hippo support and it would be much quicker for us to address on our own.

Honestly, I don't think I'll be continuing with Hippo in the future. I'll keep plugging away at it for another year or so, but as we grow and our A/R grows and our inventory grows and our rescue group numbers grow, we just need something that has more advanced functionality.

Pros

It seems pretty easy to work the scheduler. And once you get the hang of it, it's pretty intuitive for very basic functions.

Cons

You cannot modify the schedule in ways I need it modified, inventory is a nightmare, A/R is a nightmare, no accrual-based accounting, we can't differentiate sales that are a deposit for future services from sales from the day, it seems like any sort of advanced function isn't there.

It is easy to navigate. I have been able to teach my employees the software with minimal amount of training. There are often updates and new features that continue to improve the experience.

Cons

I don't know if it's my problem or the software but I struggle with keeping my inventory accurate.

Cons

Reminders are from an arbitrary email which clients think is spam. Reminders do not list date due.

Pros

This system is easy to use/understand/learn. Available across any device, anywhere/anytime. Customer care/support is outstanding.

Cons

The scheduler, but they know this and are working on updates. They take recommendations seriously and work to change items that may need better flow.

### "Hippo is good but still needs work"

When I was using it in a smaller clinic setting I really liked it. It covered all the basics and was relatively easy to use, but we weren’t super busy and had ample time to do all the clicking and page changing and such required. Now that I’ve used it in a much busier clinic setting I still like it but feel like they could make things much quicker, easier, more accessible. For instance having an option to enter vaccines and print certificates from a chart instead of having to go back to choose options.

Pros

I really like that it is al cloud based and accessible from anywhere including your phone

Cons

I find that it’s rather complicated to merge patients and clients. It is doable but it’s not easy.

### "Great Cloud Software"

With any software switch there are growing pains, but we are finally settling in and tech support has been awesome. Not to mention all the help from our reps! Everyone is always available and ready to help, especially our rep - who helped me with the final data migration and worked late to help me after close so we could be ready to go live the next morning.

Pros

It is simple and unburdened by excessive, unnecessary features like a lot of practice management software. It is compatible with anything you want to use: desktop, cell phone, tablet, laptops... When combined with a laptop and wireless card readers it is a great perk to check out clients in the room so they can leave straight from the room, and not worry about standing at the front desk to check out.

Cons

There is no boarding scheduling outside of adding a resource into the main appointment calendar (we used to schedule by date and kennel size). Also, there is no way to have a procedure code (with reminders attached) also take out inventory. (Example: you charge the client for an annual vaccine as a procedure so an annual reminder goes into the system- there is no way to also take that out of inventory with a hidden line item). Though, I did recommend this as a new enhancement, so the development team is always open to suggestions!

None, there is no way this was made for vet offices.

Pros

Ummmm, let's see......the receipts are pretty when they print. That's about it. I really don't think this was made for the veterinary field.

Cons

Very confusing, can't do simple things like delete deceased pets, or pets the owner no longer has. There is no way to print patient labels. I still don't know how to read the schedule, make an appt, or even check to see how busy we will be that day. I feel like our clients are not getting the service that they deserve because the computer system takes so long to understand. I know we've only had for 1 month, but this is rediculous. I would rather use the old system we had, and it had problems, but not like this. This is simply not a vet friendly system.

Overall great experience!

Pros

I love that it is cloud based so I can work at home or other locations if needed. User friendly especially since we are paperless. Most reports/histories can be downloaded and put directly into the chart avoiding excess paper waste.

Cons

There are just a few small things I would change. I would like to have the ability to type different things in some of the Vital Signs boxes (such as "pant" for respirations) or a different appearance of the gums. I would also like to be able to put something on someones account and close out the invoice and just have a balance but no open invoice.

I’m honesty not sure why we switched in the first place. Our old system was extremely user friendly and very easy to learn. I am grateful that tech support is always helpful but I feel like I am not getting the hang of this new system. I don’t think more training will help, I think I will just be able to figure it out on my own.

Pros

I like being able to see both offices. I like the look of the schedule and the multiple options to add/edit information

Cons

It’s not user friendly. There are still many things I don’t know about the software. It is tome consuming just to try to check someone out. If there are multiple patients, it’s very difficult.

I've been very happy with the training and the technical support; very important to me because I'm not a computer person! It's taking some getting used to, but overall it's a nice upgrade from our previous server-based system.

Pros

Easy and intuitive to use; can access from any device at any time.

Cons

No functionality in offline mode. As a mobile vet, I find that at least 2-3 times a day I have to save info and enter it later due to poor internet connectivity where I'm working.

Reason for choosing Hippo Manager

It was by far the easiest to use and understand.

We're here to help with unlimited support and training always! Heading to see patients where there is no internet can be challenging for mobile vets. We're glad that you're still using the total mobility of Hippo and updating data when you get back "online". You can also run Hippo from a cellphone hot spot. So, if you have cell service, you can open a hot spot and connect Hippo Manager that way to stay online. As cell networks grow, going into areas that offer no service for internet will be obsolete. Hippo has been great for tracking clients and their pets. It's easy to add or change a pet's owner, chart notes, and track payments. The daily scheduler is great and easy to use.

Pros

Great for managing patients, adding additional pets to a client, and managing the treatment notes

Cons

There's no way to customize a specific report for an item or items of interest. The report section only charts the top ten used.

Reason for choosing Hippo Manager

Hippo was given high ratings from customers and internet reviewers of clinic software. Hippo was also the most economical. One price per month with no hidden add-on charges.

The software is easy to use and have a great customer support team that are willing to help. Once I asked for a customized rabies certificate and they didi it for our clinic!! Try it! It is a very good software that will satisfied your needs because always are creating new features to make your work easy and complete. And the most important thing for me is that is user friendly!!

Cons

For me the time I have to waste writing with limited typing skills. We will try the new voice recognition system very soon !!

We have had lots of bugs and issues, but customer service has been very helpful.

Pros

User friendly for most functions and customer service is good.

Cons

Doctor can’t sign the chart without logging the tech out first. The techs put all the notes and history in, but I have to log them out and myself back in every room to be able to sign the charts. Also the charges put inside the charts do not show up until after you leave the chart instead of right after the addition. And it puts the wrong time and date on all our records and meds, after 7pm it says it’s tye next day. We are open nights, so this effects us a lot.
