Pros

The customer support for Hippo is as great as I could ask for. Questions are answered usually within hours if not minutes! Changes are made promptly as well. It is easy to figure out and use. I haven't even begun to use all of its features!

Cons

I wish there was a way to attach electronic files to the patient files and it would be nice to send messages to the clients right from the program. Having it save automatically would be nice too, but I have learned to do that fairly quickly!

Hippo Manager does require a connection to the internet, so, if your practice wifi or wired internet goes down, or you're out in the field, Hippo Manager can run off cell phone wifi. Money savings and good support included

Pros

Easy to learn and use. Support is excellent and included in price . Works with client to resolve problems . Exact opposite of previous support where it was$$$$$ to even say hello to support .

Cons

There are some features missing . Combining multiple patients is hard . Templates are not as variable as I wanted . Although not hard the rads and ultrasounds have to be added separately . Small price to pay for good support

I like the set up and user friendly and most of all i liked the sales people and demo over others that i spoke with

Cons

there is no way to keep track expenses for other purchases made

Pros

easy client access, you just need to make sure your on that patient. Love the easy and large icons! Also like that there is a bar that has tabs to click on making it easy for the management etc tabs. Like that the vaccine chart is so easily accessable

Cons

Not sure yet. I wish there was an anesthetic monitor chart, if there is on I havent found it yet. Do I need to create one?

I’d say the only “pro” would be the cost

Cons

Medications aren’t as convenient to add compared to other softwares, freezes up a lot, randomly deletes items out of the computer, it’s necessarily very “time savvy” compared to others

Pros

We like the feature of being able to drag specific appointments to the schedule, as well as just dragging appointments to change the time. The check out process is also very easy. Hippo is easy to learn for new hires.

Cons

The uploading photos and documents has been frustrating, as they either don't upload at all or upload to the wrong patient file. It would be more convenient if you could click to add an appointment and select the client you wish to add while making the appointment, not having to switch to the patient before making the appointment.

My colleagues work more closely with the hippo manager, but I have only heard great things about how receptive they are to our comments.

Pros

I love the smart search for clients first/last names and patients. The overall ease of use and customization are strengths of this software.

Cons

While using this software on the ipad/tablets widgets would not stay in place while on the main screen. It just didn't run as smoothly as we had hoped and slowed our clinic flow as a result. We tried it on various wifi speeds and ipads, but still ran into slower processing times.

Uploading files can be a challenge. Some file types don't open easily on Hippo. I also can't verify my email because it won't send me an email to verify it. So I constantly get a pop up saying I need to verify my email, but it won't let me.

I have a mobile equine practice where it is very important to have a software package that works easily and quickly. Hippo Manager has proven to to meet and even exceed my needs for delivering top quality care at the farm. The screens are intuitive and easy to get through. Having the main patient screen being the center of the program allows you to access everything you would ever need about that patient without having to search around. Also, I like that Hippo Manager is a cloud based system. It has allowed me to either use a computer to run the program on the farm, or even my cell phone. (the screen is small but it still works great). Overall, I would highly recommend Hippo Manager software to any mobile veterinarian.

Invoices are not also mailed to me, just to the client.

It's not Cornerstone or Avimark or Impromed- I like using something that no one else has and don't have to compare to it.

Cons

Not happy about how it's not tab friendly or ease of entering inventory. Still new to it and haven't been fully prepared to be using it as much as I've needed or should use.

We are incorporating telemedicine into our practice so since hippo is cloud based it really helps us stay on top of everything. Adding in the zipwhip app too has been amazing.

Pros

Accessibility- I can jump on Hippo anywhere that I get an internet signal making it easy to up date records, check my schedule, or order up new medications.

Cons

Still figuring out easiest way to do accurate reminders and prevent old reminders from cluttering our list.

It is very easy to set up a client in Hippo. Even the doctor can do it! Recording notes and attaching files is super easy as well. The benefit is that its fast to accomplish these things. Less steps than our other software.

Pros

easy to use. Attaching our medical letters in Hippo is much easier than our past software. I like the email ability for invoices and estimates.

Cons

We are a specialty clinic so we need more flexibility. I have already spoken to customer support regarding expanding on estimate note space and the ability to have a separate sections to put all our referring veterinarians in.

Our clinic is in the second month of using Hippo manager and so far we are pleased with the program. We are a high volume mixed animal practice that is 90% walk-in based, so our needs are different than most other clinics. We are very impressed with the support that Hippo offers and the ability to customize the program for our needs. The company even sent someone to our practice to observe how we work, so that they can better customize the software for us. Customer support takes all suggestions seriously and is continually trying to improve their product. Overall this is a great program to have.

It was a huge change and I had to relearn everything. Some things are really simple and other things take a lot longer than they use to on our old software.

Pros

I like that it is cloud based and that I can check the schedule from home. Inventory is pretty easy to check as well.

Cons

I don’t like that you can’t have multiple patients up and I also do not like how you have to get out of the check out page to get medication labels. I think medication labels should be printed as you go through the check out stage automatically.

Only functions with google chrome. I like firefox and had to download google chrome to get it to work.

We just got started with HippoManager a month ago at our formerly paper-record office. We love the ease-of-use and functionality, with custom loading pages for each user. The scheduler is nicely laid-out and robust, with color-coding for easy viewing. We are inputting our shipments for live inventory tracking, which syncs with the invoice creation and POS system. Merging our old data has been easy with Hippo's document upload feature, which lets use scan our old papers in each time a patient is seen, making the transition occur over time for active patients. Best of all, when we've had issues, Sam and his team are there to help us so quickly! We highly recommend Hippo Manager to any size clinic looking to organize.
