### "Love, love, love Slack! "

April 14, 2026

5.0

I love Slack. It's the first thing I check in the morning when I am ready to start my work day, and it's the last thing I check before logging off for the day. It's super dependable and I love using it every day.

Pros

I absolutely love Slack-- I don't know what I would do without it. I love that it has been to heavily adopted by my company-- we use it jsut as much as email if not slightly more. I love all of the innovation they have been doing with AI as well.

Cons

I really don't have much to say about Slack in regard to what I do not like. From time to time, I experience what seems to be a bug with their notifications in app-- it says I have many unread messages, but I am all caught up, this generally solves itself and is not an issue that is interfering with my use of he tool.

### "Slack over 4 years"

April 1, 2026

5.0

My experience with Slack has been very positive. It’s one of the best tools for day-to-day team communication and quick coordination, and it keeps work moving without a lot of friction. It does take some discipline (good channel hygiene, using threads, and knowing when to move things to docs), but when used well it’s a huge productivity boost.

Pros

it makes collaboration feel effortless—quick questions get answered fast, and it reduces the need for unnecessary meetings. I also really appreciate the way channels create a shared “team memory”: decisions, context, links, and updates are easy to find later, which is a huge help when you’re juggling multiple projects.

Cons

Slack can quietly create a “always-on” feeling—because messages move fast, it’s easy to feel pressure to respond immediately even when you’re deep in focused work. Another pain point is that important information can get trapped in threads and DMs; if something isn’t documented elsewhere, it can become hard to rediscover later, especially when channel volume is high and older context gets buried.

### "I like slack"

March 10, 2026

3.0

It is nice, but I do not use it so often, and I am happy to have it in my software stack and connect to colleagues on it.

Pros

It is a nice platform to communicate and organise a community or multiple communities in groups and workspaces.

Cons

The user interface is a little bit complex, and I find other platforms simpler and more useful to use.

### "I like it so much I call all my chat apps Slack"

January 30, 2026

5.0

Slack is easy and fun to use. There are just enough customizations and the integrations make the experience unique to your organization but familiar enough as you bring on new team members. I've used it at enterprise, smb and startup environments and it delivered in equal measure for each. Solid value for the money and very limited bugs and issues. I haven't used the customer support and don't have much to say about File storage features.

Pros

Slack has a sense of irreverence to it that is helpful for remote and hybrid cultures. A "cool kid" factor that you just don't find with Teams or other options. The app is also excellent and easy to use.

Cons

I don't prefer using Threads. I think the use of inline replies as an option instead of breaking out a thread is helpful in larger groups or longer conversations involving multitasking. I would also say that Teams calls are more intuitive and helpful than Huddles. Even still I prefer the experience overall to that of Teams and especially Google Chat.

Alternatives considered

[Google Chat](https://www.capterra.com/p/175800/Chat/)[Microsoft Teams](https://www.capterra.com/p/168668/Microsoft-Teams/)

Reason for choosing Slack

Google chat doesn't even compare, Teams is useful but feels a bit more corporate and rigid

### "Slack is a consistently solid chat application with a host of features"

March 27, 2026

4.0

Slack is a great product, virtually bug free and does everything you would expect of it. It’s available on mobile, desktop app and in a web browser

Pros

I have been using Slack for years now and it has been a consistently solid messaging platform. Its ability to hook into automations has been a great ability for us. Slack is straightforward to use, great for file sharing, providing the ability for ad-hoc meetings also.

Cons

I have very little in terms of complaints with Slack. It does exactly what I need it to do with issue.

### "Good everyday tool for quick team communication"

March 6, 2026

5.0

Overall my experience has been good. It keeps communication fast and helps the team stay on track. There are small annoyances here and there, but nothing that breaks the workflow. It’s basically become part of the daily routine without thinking too much about it.

Pros

Slack makes team chats quick and easy, and it keeps everything in one place. Channels help keep work organized so things don’t get lost in long email threads. It’s simple to share files or updates without slowing anyone down

Cons

Notifications can get messy when you’re in too many channels. Search works ok but sometimes older messages are hard to find. Calls and huddles are fine, but not as strong as other meeting tools

### "Slack is a great way to stay in touch daily "

March 2, 2026

5.0

I highly value using Slack every day. I have used it for both personal communication (through the pandemic and now) and work communication (at a previous job) and it's a great way to stay in touch with others on various topics that are easily searched.

Pros

Setting up separate channels based on specific topics is a huge feature of slack. Being able to search within a channel based on topic makes finding previous discussions much easier.

Cons

There are a few features that could be improved by Slack (and I believe Slack is working on those with new AI features). It can be hard to note who responded, and I personally do not love threads - it's another click through that needs to happen.

### "Slack User or Life"

September 9, 2025

5.0

Slack has been a fantastic tool. It is definitely my preferred group communication tool and has been since I started using it in college.

Pros

I have used Slack with multiple companies and businesses and have loved the ease of use. It creates seamless outreach options for those in your organization without having to share your personal telephone number. We also frequently use the huddle meeting feature. Being on a team of 75% remote employees, slack makes it easy to work as a team. It makes it easy to see who is scheduled for meetings, who has read messages, and creates a shared file storage space.

Cons

I wish it was easier to search messages for specific key words to find information that the team has shared without know exactly when it was shared.

Slack was fairly new when I first became a user. It was immediately apparent that Slack worked much better for my working process than other options I had tried previously.

### "Outstanding collaboration that every organisation should use to increase engagement…"

November 1, 2025

5.0

An excellent collaboration platform that has increased internal staff communications and engagement and one that allows us to communication with our clients. Excellent for team IMs and quick video calls and one I would recommend any organisation to use.

Pros

The leading instant messaging platform globally that combines chat, file sharing, video calling as a collaboration tool with hundreds of APIs with other corporate platforms. A slick and easy to use platform that provides a huge value for money for the features it provides.

Cons

The customer support service can be very stringent. I have required assistance with a subject access request but only the primary owner of a workspace can approve that even though I am an administrator. I feel there should be a secondary or tertiary owner who has similar levels of access which could be an area of improvement for Slack.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Slack

Enhanced features and user experience in comparison.

### "A fun way to communicate with your colleagues"

January 26, 2026

4.0

My overall experience with Slack is fairly positive, I use it mostly for informal communications and short work chats with colleagues. It is a fun way to communicate and is useful for setting up specific channels to share with teams.

Pros

Slack is a free communications product, and therefore does offer great value for money. It is easy to use and implement, with customizable options, including icons, text, emojis and gifs. You can set up different channels or direct messages with different permissions to manage access. You can set your status and use icons so other users can quickly see your whereabouts. It offers instant messaging making it a useful chat tool. You are able to store and share files on Slack, with a section dedicated to files. You can get notifications or chose to silent them depending on your preference. Slack is a fun and flexible way of communicating with your colleagues.

Cons

Slack does take up a fair amount of ram on my laptop, and when used in conjunction with other similar products it can become time consuming. Slack offers a huddle feature for calls but I do not like this as much as with other products, and it seems a little clunky. However some peers enjoy using this feature, making it seem less informal than a Teams call.

### "Great for Fast Team Communication, But Hard to Stay Organized"

January 29, 2026

4.0

Notification overload and scattered conversations make it easy to miss important context, and Slack isn’t great for long-term knowledge management.

Pros

Slack makes team communication fast and transparent by keeping conversations, files, and updates in one place. Channels help organize discussions by topic, integrations streamline workflows, and real-time messaging reduces reliance on email.

Cons

Slack can become overwhelming as teams grow, with constant notifications, fragmented conversations, and important information getting buried instead of being easy to find later.

### "A Powerful Platform for Real Time Collaboration"

November 7, 2025

5.0

Overall, I really like using Slack. It makes it easy to stay in touch with the team, share files, and track ongoing projects. Sometimes it can get busy with notifications, but it’s a huge improvement over email, and I can’t imagine going back.

Pros

I like how Slack keeps everyone connected, especially in a remote setup. The instant communication, status updates, and ability to create focused channels make teamwork much smoother.

Cons

The main challenge with Slack is message overload. It’s hard to focus when there are constant pings from multiple channels. Better tools for highlighting critical messages or consolidating updates would make it more efficient for teams

### "Slack is THE best! "

November 30, 2025

5.0

Overall Slack is a great communication tool and definitely recommend for any business. Being able to download an app on your phone and have a way to communicate with everyone all over the world is a plus.

Pros

I started working for company that used Slack as the only form of communication between everyone at the company (from different parts of the world). Slack was honestly very nice to use, we all had different roles within the company and had channels created for each role. Everyone could see what we were each working on and it would keep a record of what we have completed. We had a mutual channel that we used for discussion and we also had private channels where we would discuss personal things with the supervisors. I liked that we could upload videos and pictures and react to certain discussions by emoji's. My favorite was to mark a task as completed with the green checkmark. We could always go back and look at the channels and find out if a specific task was completed. I only contacted Costumer support once and they were extremely helpful and friendly.

Cons

I don't think there is anything I don't like about Slack. We used it everyday multiple times a day and everything about It I loved.

### "Great Platform, App Needs Some Fixing!"

November 16, 2025

3.0

Overall I think Slack is a great platform, but the app needs some work so that users are always getting notified on their phones.

Pros

Slack has been an important communication tool for my business, and I find that the platform is easy to implement and use for chatting, sharing files, and scheduling events on the team.

Cons

For whatever reason, Slack seems incapable of sending real-time phone notifications consistently. I often find that I get notified about messages for a few hours, and then I won't get any notifications for the rest of the day despite receiving messages from team members.

### "Intuitive, Fun, and Essential for Remote Work Culture"

January 7, 2026

5.0

Would definitely use it again. Only thing holding me back was I was frequently kicked off when working remotely and had to sign in multiple times.

Pros

Easy to use - Team users frequently use emojis, GIFs, and custom themes that made my workplace communication feel more engaging and less sterile than traditional tools like email. Features like Huddles allowed for instant, one-click audio/video syncs that simulate quick office chats. Threaded conversations helped keep my specific project discussions organized and tucked away from the main channel feed. Great integration for file sharing and screenshots for quick response for management. Allowed me to provide better customer support and quick answers to questions.

Cons

Being in a large team, the volume of my pings and channel alerts became overwhelming, leading to constant notifications and fragmented attention that actually decreased my deep-work productivity.

### "Not Just a Chat Tool, But A Powerhouse."

March 11, 2026

5.0

Overall my experience with Slack has been great, it is a great tool to keep all team communication organized and clear, plus the customization, like the use of bots for scheduled messages, was a great tool to foster rapport amongst the team.

Pros

I think the value of Slack lies in how versatile it has become over the last years. Not only is it helpful for communication purposes, but the project management features, collaborative workflow tools and customized add-ons make it great as a tool where every project can be seamlessly managed, without relying on too many apps.

Cons

When I first started using it, it was a bit of a learning curve for using some of its core messaging features. A silly example is that I struggled to find how to send gifs or customize emojis, since it wasn't as intuitive, but it wasn't hard to catch on. Another thing that I struggled with was using it on other devices, sometimes it wouldn't update the same way, but it happened rarely.

Pros

Cons

In my experience, strict notification discipline is needed to not feel like you’re constantly playing catch-up.
