Fun fact is that people always ignore emails but they don't mind responding on slack. Pros Slack provides a more relaxed and convenient way of communicating across different teams or different departments. It allows for sharing of documents, links, doing a hurdle, and screen sharing and all those other essential things important in a semi professional environment. The price to get your team's started on Slack can be expensive but they make the UI very appealing to keep team's engaged in their platform. Easy to use on a computer and you can create a lot of great channels for your team. Pros One of the best channels of communication for companies of all sizes. It's interactive, fun, customizable and offers everything you need. Cons Not much to dislike here about Slack. The mobile version can be a little confusing to navigate at times but it's better than most. I prefer to use Zoom better and I cannot create screen captures in Slack like I can in Zoom. Pros It gets the job done. It does a better job of alerting me on my phone of messages than it does on my laptop. I don't know how any company with remote employees could survive without Slack. Love being able to communicate 1:1, as a team, and as a whole company; pin documents and workflows; integrate with all the essential other platforms; bookmarking, saving chats, and the ability to search are all necessary and fantastic. I also really like that you can create threads in discussions when you reply to something which makes everything look very organized. Cons I think they need to improve their huddle feature which is way behind their competitors - Microsoft Teams and they also lack the complete ecosystem provided by default with Microsoft Teams. It's an easy tool to setup for remote teams to get communication going in a more structured way than email. My preferred tool over MS teams. Pros It's an intuitive workplace communication app that has a lot of layers of further functionality past DMs and channel communication. You can create to do lists, build automations for reminders and Slack integrates with almost every other tool you use. Cons The use of threads isn't always straightforward for everyone. There is a company culture/transformation piece to using Slack effectively or to it's max potential which can be difficult to get everyone onboard. Notifications can be cluttered. " January 19, 2025 5.0 Overall, I'm a big a fan of Slack. I really enjoy being able to customize it to my needs, and keep conversations separate in their respective channels. I also like that I can add a guest user at no additional cost; this is great when I just need to extend access to one channel to someone. The software is super user friendly and the ability to customize the layout colors and emojis make it super fun! Pros Slack is an awesome team tool! I have used Slack for years now and absolutely love it. It's easy to create channels for different topics and select who has access to each channel. You can build lists, save items for later (bookmarking them), view activity at a glance, direct message other teams members, and even customize and add fun emojis to the platform. Our team has so much fun with the emojis throughout the day! It's actually the best part of our day because it keeps the conversations fun and engaging. Cons I have yet to find a way to upload custom backgrounds for the huddle calls. The backgrounds that are available as default in the system don't do well during live calls.
