Pros It is a platform where we can have all internal and external conversations. Especially all communication within the company takes place via slack. The ease of its interface allows us to communicate quickly within the team. Cons Compared to different solutions we use in other companies, the fact that we can only communicate in written form forces us to use a separate tool for meetings and video communication. Pros What I enjoyed most about Slack with the File sharing, ease of use and chat. We didn't use the schedule and calendar nor experience any bugs or issues. We have group channels as well as team channels for certain teams (writing, editing, design, etc). It's perfect for group collab, one on one convos and group segmentation. I absolutely love it! Pros \- Ability to have dedicated channels for certain topics - Ability to have both public and private channels - Option to create custom emojis (this is just fun) - Easy to invite teammates - Easy to @mention teammates and tag them when appropriate - Excellent for team collaboration - Supports video calls Cons Slack's free plan used to save messages for months now I believe after 90 days the old messages are deleted. This is annoying because we have group rules we have to repost often. That's the only downside. Professionally my company uses teams, so getting used to slack was one of the easiest parts. Most coworkers also had an easy time using the app. Pros The thing I like most about Slack is that you can reviews directly in the chat channels and that the whole team has access to it. Cons The thing I like least would have to be creating a whole new chat anytime someone needed to be added or removed. You also couldn't get rid of those previous chats. It's been long enough that I don't remember exactly when. Pros Communication is seamless. Even though it is an instant messaging product, it lends itself surprisingly well to transactional communication as well, effectively replacing email for most use cases. Cons Search is painful. Notifications with channel membership takes some work to get right. Cons The browser app can be a bit slow to launch sometimes. Not a big deal but something to note. The free plan of the software is also quite limited. So far, we haven't had many issues with Slack and I think it's a great platform to chat with people regarding important matters. I also really like that you can have an audio or video chat with people as well, which is again, great for employees who are not in the office directly. Pros I like the setup of Slack. It's almost like a group message and you can also privately message people about certain things. I like that you can have different channels and subjects of discussion. Cons There aren't many cons of Slack. I am still learning some of the features, but with the free version, there isn't too much you can do, which is a little annoying. It gives our team the opportunity to grow, connect, and collaborate effortlessly. Slack is easy to train on and lets you show off your personality. It also has many hacks and tricks that most people don’t know about, like setting reminders, sharing a GIF instantly, and mentioning individuals, only those online, or an entire channel. It’s a smart system that I love using. Pros The ease of communication between teams, colleagues, and even adding a second or third company is so easy. I also love how easy it is to start a 'video call' huddle with anyone in your organization. With one click, you’re chatting over video, sharing your screen, and connecting with someone on the other side of the world. It also integrates very well with Zapier, Google, Asana, Calendly and many more. Cons I'm not sure if this is a Slack issue or a user issue. I’m an Apple product fanatic; however, when my Slack is buzzing with notifications from all the workflows and channels I’m in, my phone, laptop, and watch all go off simultaneously, which can be overstimulating.
