### "Slack is our top communication channel!"

January 21, 2019

4.0

1\. Email is good, but Slack is better! The ability to easily communicate with the client's w/o loosing any valuable time good for both. 2. We have a very smooth experience using slack after making that shifting decision in the past. And so far we have had no regrets. For us slack is the number one tool for internal and external communication. 3. Slack is like a best friend to me as a Project Account Manager this tool is a must specially if you know how to use the build-in AI Support to help you keep loop on your daily task.

Pros

We have been using different communication tool to collaborate with our existing and the rest of our customers. All acknowledge the facts that keeping things together in loop specially in dealing with projects deliverables on time is very crucial for the overall progress. Email is the thing in the past and slack is the existing and future solution for team collaboration. Slacks offers many features and one of the thing I liked is that it perfectly works will when combined with Trello automation. I would like to list down below the things we loved the most after using slack for years now: - It's Free! - It's fantastically fast and works well with both browser & app version. - The ability to login to multiple workspace using a single app! - The ability to create private channels & guest (for Paid version we use this) - The ability to automation task using Zapier - and other many handful tools Because of slack many of our manual and tedious work have been solved now we use the slack paid version for our high profile customers and the free version for internal use. For us Slack is a perfect tool when it comes to usability, collaboration, and automation. Our customers loved it! Thank you

Cons

In the past there was an issue with the Slack App version on Mac about lagging, but so far after few updates it was long gone. Honestly, we been using slack for many years now and if there by any issue or glitches it get's fixed immediately w/o you even noticing it.

### "THE digital tool for team communication"

May 11, 2021

5.0

Pros

I think that, these days, Slack is among the most popular picks for teams that would like to work remotely, for instance. So, through Slack, teams get a sort of a centralized digital hub where they can gather and exchange value and info. I'm a fan of the ability, that nowadays, Slack gives to its users, of being able to host call straight from Slack. No worries about third-party platforms working with Slack, you can use the platform's own technology to communicate with the members of your team, video calls included. Plus, the smartphone app enables you to work, access your Slack channels and interact with people from anywhere. And lastly, I'm a big fan of the Apps integrations that can be used with Slack. Would you like for your Slack channel to do something you can't do right now? There's probably a Slack app for that. Are you looking for a better way to use Slack in combination with a project management tool you use? It's doable, and so is providing customer support by connecting your customer service tool to Slack.

Cons

I'm probably not the first to say this but, when it comes to Slack notifications, there must be a better way to control them. Think about having a very engaged Slack space with several channels... and each channel received and keeps receiving a notification after the other. It can be disruptive and distracting, and I think it's something that Slack should address and change as soon as they can so that users don't get "bombarded" by a ton of notifications.

### " Slack – Managing projects optimally"

April 18, 2019

3.0

Slack is a tool which can be used as a project management tool for managing projects and also it can be used for internal communication inside a project group or a company. Each project group can have its own channels inside the company workspace. Communication through private and public channels has made Slack more popular among the users.

Pros

Slack can be considered as a project management tool. Slack provides both mobile version and desktop version applications where the mobile version is installed in the mobile phone so that whatever may be the situation user may not miss any important information about the project instantly. While the desktop version helps to transfer files of the working project easily while working on the project. Slack provides the facility to share the files, folders, audio and video clips, links. there are private and public channels in slack. Users can be added to these channels and if the users prefer they can have their own personal chats through slack. The emojis, stickers, GIF are also added In Slack to provide better user experience and attract the users with its familiar look to most of the social media or texting apps.

Cons

In order to use Slack users need to have a proper network connection. Without proper network coverage, Slack won’t work. Sometimes messages won’t be delivered to the other side after a selected time(10 PM). Unless the user sets his or her state into active user won’t receive notifications after 10 pm. If the state is away then the messages sent after 10 pm won’t be delivered till the next morning. Because of this sometimes users may miss some important messages. It is both an advantage and a disadvantage too. There is no mechanism to know whether the receiver read the message or not once a message is sent. The sender has to wait until other messages come from the receiver acknowledging that the receiver read the message.

### "Team messaging done right"

March 19, 2018

5.0

Pros

When working in teams of many sizes, Slack makes chat fun, efficient and non-obstrusive. Slack is modelled on IRC, with users joining a "workspace" comprised of any number of themed channels. Users can set their notification preferences for each channel, which makes it possible to control the volume of notifications. While some channels are meant to be used by everyone (#general, #random), it's very easy to create new channels for specific projects or discussions. I love the fact that all workspaces allow by default a "random" channel, encouraging non-work related discussion. The flexibility afforded by this organization makes Slack a great fit for any kind of project sizes, but also other communities. Finally, Slack supports powerful formatting (bold, italics, code snippets, quotes all using the intuitive Markdown syntax). Emoji and GIF support makes it even more fun. Emoji reactions are an expressive and fun way to respond to messages quickly, avoiding time wasted on picking phrasing (and spamming others with basic responses).

Cons

In settings where the free plan is not sufficient (e.g. large number of users), the "pro" options feel quite expensive. While clients are extremely well designed on all platforms, handling multiple Slack Workspaces is still a bit of a hassle. Notifications arrive for all workspaces, but one needs to explicitly switch between workspaces to see messages. A unified view of all new messages across workspaces would be amazing. The lack of a single account means that any preference set into one client (e.g. on desktop) will generally not carry over to another (e.g. mobile). In terms of administration, I wish that we could set the default notification settings per channel, instead of requiring each user to go and tweak them manually.

### " Slack Overview"

August 19, 2022

5.0

Its great for us ,starting from learning new things, connecting us and helping us growing, solving and infact doing HARD THINGS as as said by my mentor. i would recommend it for business men and women and software engineers as well to start using it.

Pros

Slack has great mixes with other applications/devices that make this effectively an industry best in text commitment across groups. This device alone can be utilized for making subchannels that truly help to have an effect. I love having visits with my colleagues that I don't get to draw in with on an everyday/week after week premise. It's a chance to gain some new useful knowledge, and I love that Slack has been exceptionally smart about that commitment

Cons

what i somehow dislike about them is that we so much depend on it for everything we do our team,

### "Slack For Business"

October 27, 2022

5.0

I can give a rate of 95% for Slack as an overall experience due to many things "Creating new channels, easy way of integrating third-party apps, getting the history of deleted users, Huddles, meetings, video conference, user status, exporting reports using API"The other 5% because there is always room for improvement and we would like to see how can the support team of Slack will improve more

Pros

It has a lot of brilliant features, and many useful options for business, it is a very useful, quick and easy tool for any business in the communication part.

Cons

Sometimes, we find in video and audio conference low resolution and voice disconnecting for a while.

### "The chat app for developer teams that is a pleasure to use, when connection issues don't bother you."

August 17, 2022

5.0

Slack is the de facto chat app for developer teams. Although with some rough edges here and there, with Slack we were able to easily integrate existing and custom solutions that helped us better keep track of what is happening in the team and with the projects. Huddles are also a great way to communicate, as we were able to talk with the team any time, making our workflow and sharing experiences easy.

Pros

The interface is easy to use. Everything is laid out in 2 to 3 columns: the sidebar with all the channels and contacts, the main chat column and an optional third column for viewing threads. This way, you can always focus on what you/other are trying to tell. The message box is a pleasure to use, as it allows writing formatted messages easily; and sharing files is as easy as drag and drop. Threads, although I was a bit against it at first, help branch some conversations so you or your team can add details without breaking the main conversation. Huddles are also a great way to real time communication. They allow teams to communicate easily, like we were in a room in the same place, where anyone can join and leave at any time, without depending on others. Finally, the API is powerful. Although a bit complex at times, integrating custom apps and workflows allows expanding the knowledge of the team at any given point in time greatly. Also, the music that plays when waiting alone in a huddle is a good bonus.

Cons

Communicating outside messages is a little bit confusing sometimes. Slack has two features, huddles and calls. Huddles are for quick audio communication while calls are regular calls with video support. Both (sometimes) do their job well, however, it is confusing when to use one or another, as both have overlapping features but implemented in different ways. Connection to Slack servers are also an issue. Calls suddenly drop or audio lags heavily, messages take a lot of time to send, and the macOS version sometimes hangs without response, forcing the user to forcefully exit. Finally, forwarding and sharing messages with other teammates is sometimes complex, as there are two ways to do this, and both don't work when you expected to.

Pros

### "Easy solution to quick communication"

October 8, 2021

5.0

Overall, I and my team prefer to use slack as a way of communication and we use it on a regular basis.

Pros

The product gives a great way to stay connected with colleagues. We mainly use it for our research lab communication. The channel feature works great as you can have separate channels with separate people for all of your different projects. It makes communication easier.

Cons

The free version stores up to 10,000 messages. After that the previous message gets delated. 10,000 message while may sound a lot, but isn't. And sometime you can loose important messages because of it.

### "Slack is the key to communication for our far-flung team."

November 9, 2017

5.0

Our team's communication has benefitted immensely from this software. We're not only able to communicate with one another much faster (rather than waiting days for an answer to an email, you can get an instantaneous reply to your question in Slack), but we're also able to keep in touch with each other with a much higher level of detail. We're aware of more of the day to day occurrences in each of our spheres, and feel like we have a much better sense of what each program area is up to. This is true even for simple logistics. At our nonprofit project site in Nepal, we used to have simple communication issues with people not getting the message that dinner was moved an hour later or a trip to the river had been planned. Now, one simple Slack message lets everyone know.

Pros

We're a nonprofit organization with employees on three different continents across five time zones, and Slack makes it feel like we're all in the room together. The problem with email and other instant messaging applications is that they're not very inclusive; if you leave someone off of an email chain by mistake, they're completely out of the loop. With Slack, on the other hand, you can post general updates that the whole team is immediately aware of. You also have a central archive of all your messages and documents and discussions, so your institutional memory doesn't walk away with various employees as they come and go from your organization. The channels allow us to make sure everyone on the admin team gets every admin update, everyone on the fundraising team gets every fundraising update, etc. We even add outside vendors and visitors to our project site to Slack as need be, because it's simply the best way to talk to any of us.

Cons

It's hard to think of downsides of Slack. I guess I wish it loaded faster when we're on a poor internet connection in a third world country, but that's only a problem occasionally. The only other thing I can think of is that messages can sometimes get lost in a stream of chatter, the way Facebook updates can get buried at the bottom of your newsfeed under less important posts. But I view that as a downside to any form of communication.

### "Slack is the solution for internal communication and collaboration"

March 9, 2021

5.0

Slack helps our team stay coordinated, interact in a timely manner, and track information in channels that provide context.

Pros

Slack's ease of use and understanding it paramount. While I find Teams to be over-extending itself into the Office world, Slack is just about making sure you can keep communication clear, timely and open. The ability to shift between private DMs, open channels, and private channels nicely delineates the way you can manage communication across a team. We use Slack for all internal communication, relegating email to external comms, which works really well.

Cons

The channels can overwhelm casual users at times. While the system tries to clean things up with suggestions, I think Slack should do more intentional hiding of under-used channels to keep it clean.

### "New digital workspace"

August 9, 2021

5.0

Overall it's a great product that increases productivity . It will slowly replace mails and internal communication mediums inside a large organization.

Pros

The move towards a digital ecosystem has led to rising of collaboration tools . Software teams now work in a highly modular environment that needs an integration platform for communication. Slack is moving away from the mail which has a lag in response and is not real-time. This is unacceptable in the current business enviorment .

Cons

It still lacks in terms of utility-like Microsoft teams which have a much more integrated outlook.

### "Slack is the best chat app, but don't use it as a wiki or PM tool"

December 31, 2019

4.0

Slack effectively solves our need for real-time communication. We use the chat, voice and video calling options. It's a great tool and better than most other chat alternatives, but don't be tempted to use it to manage projects, store documentation, or give structure to files. You'll soon be overwhelmed by the lack of structure.

Pros

I love Slack's ease of use and simplicity. New users can get up to speed quickly and begin using fun features like @mentionds, /gifs and :emojis: The file attachments and search speed are well done. Slack's real power is in all the integrations, so I love being able to hook up a dozen or so apps and collect all my notifications in one place. Also, the freelancer community has embraced Slack because of their free/cheap plans, so it's very convenient to keep in touch with a variety of contractors by just inviting them (since most already have their own Slack plans).

Cons

Slack isn't great at providing structure to your work-life. The #channel structure does aid in some structure, but Slack's support for threads is awful--they don't make any sense, and most people can't figure out how to use them. These deficits are offset somewhat by searchability, but for the most part you'll just be scrolling through endless conversations if you want to find a particular piece of info.

Alternatives considered

[Microsoft Teams](https://www.capterra.com/p/168668/Microsoft-Teams/)

Reason for choosing Slack

Overall Slack is a much better product than Microsoft teams for just chat, but Teams has an advantage if you want to use a wiki and extensive file storage. Teams does a slighly better job with threading, but it's still not great. The channel structure of teams is worse, and then anyone who has used Sharepoint knows to stay away from the confusing intersection of Teams with Sharepoint.

### "All-in-one messaging platform that will make your team more efficient."

November 4, 2022

5.0

Slack has been a life-saver for our business. We were having trouble communicating with each other over email, and it was becoming a huge pain to try and track down messages scattered all over different folders. With Slack, we can easily communicate with each other in one place, and the search function makes it easy to find old messages. The benefits have been amazing – we're able to work more efficiently and get more done as a team. Overall, I'd say that Slack has been a fantastic investment for our business.

Pros

With so many different messaging platforms out there, it can be hard to know which one is the best for your business. But with Slack, you really can't go wrong. It's easy to use and integrates well with your existing business processes. And the best part? The witty and fun tone of voice makes communication a pleasure. So if you're looking for an all-in-one messaging platform that will make your team more efficient, Slack is definitely the way to go.

Cons

What I like least is the search function. It can be difficult to find what you're looking for sometimes. Maybe there could be a better way to categorize results or to suggest related keywords.

### "Great tool for collaborative working and community"

October 6, 2022

4.0

I have been using Slack for a few years now and really like it. It's easily set up, intuitive to use and very reliable.

Pros

I like that it really feels like you are joining a community. The different Channels allow you to select what interests you at that time. The ability to chat directly with someone you don't otherwise have contact details for is also handy.

Cons

My only issue is not being able to just search for a workspace and ask to join in the app. Though I also see this as a safety feature, so am a bit conflicted.

### "Slack Replaced Our Office After Going Virtual"

October 6, 2022

5.0

My overall experience with Slack has been 10/10! As a software development company we require thousands of hours of ideation/brainstorming a year and going virtual was a scary idea due to this. After finding Slack we are able to work together as a team (on video or just voice) by using Huddles, file sharing, live chat, automatic notifications etc. I have my google calendar connected which also lets the team know when I am on a call or temporarily unavailable for communication.

Pros

Slack has many pros to the software that help make it my personal choice for company communications. The Huddle feature has been a game changer for us, it is a live voice call, screen share and video function that our team uses to jump into impromptu meetings and it is much lighter on a computer than running Zoom or Google meet. The file sharing feature is something I utilize approximately 50 times a day, it is so nice to have a live conversation regarding specific documents and it is saved for future need to look back and review information.

Cons

The other issue I can think of is that the color scheme of the software can sometimes be difficult to read. The dark background and light text can clash if using in a very bright lighting. Maybe offering different color schemes or a 'light/dark' option for users to choose from.

### "Great collaboration platform "

November 6, 2023

Slack seems to been the best collaboration currently available

Pros

Simple to install, setup, and use for an organization of any size. They continue to enhance and improve. The search capability is very slick and the option to save a message for quick find later is great. Easy to organize channels and direct messages into groups. Has a lot of add ons which help integrate with other tools within a work environment. Great documentation and community support. Ease of management is a highly desired feature, which slack provides. Collaboration options like audio/video calls, file sharing, screen sharing, ability to select which screen/desktop to share, and group calls are amazing features which work really well

Cons

### "Discussing about pros and cons with features."

November 24, 2022

4.0

I am using Slack for the last 3 years in my daily life. It helps in my daily usage of communicating with my firm colleagues and work partner. It helps me in different in this period like audio calls, messaging, and sharing documents and files. The magic link feature is amazing. I think only a few apps or software have these types of features.

Pros

I feel the most marvelous features in Slack are magic links, a separate channel, real-time messages, and notifications. Real-time messages and notification help to easily communicate with co-workers. Magic link is an easy way to access your account without email and password. It is faster as well and sometimes it is not necessary to remind email passwords. A separate channel is a secure way to access or have project discussions. It is also good in security ways by it have own URL to join its particular channel to those who are authorized. Due to this slack brings people together to work as one unified team

Cons

Slack is a messaging app for businesses. One thing about being dissatisfied with slack conversations get deleted after 14 days, so if we sent something important within a channel it will erase so this feature kept me having difficulties at some sort of times.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Slack

If I have to purchase a product besides slack, I will choose Microsoft. Because of Storage space, Microsoft teams have 1 TB of space in the basic package but slack has 1 TB in Enterprise. We have to agree that Microsoft has well storage than slack. And another reason is audio sound of Microsoft in a good n comparison to slack.

### "Slack as a virtual Workspace"

June 18, 2023

5.0

Overall it is excellent tool for communication. I did not explore more complicated features yes, but so far, on the basic level, the functionalities are flawless, and, most importantly, it is easy to deply, easy to learn. Some of my employee are not technologically savy, dont like learning new apps of softwares, but Slack was implemented practically without problems. I tried the pro version, but for my needs it did not differ from the basic plan.

Pros

I moved all my communication, file sharing, project managing, discussions inside my organisation to Slack. It was motivated by the price, accessibility, ease of deployment, and great, impactfull features like threads in communications and bookmarks for file sharing. Real time synchornization also played a big part of my decision. I check about 10-12 different software before deciding on Slack and it was one of the best decision for my workflow.

Cons

Some of my employee complains about temporally losing access to Slack, but I personally never experienced something like that. Nevertheless it can be frustrating, when all my communication is done by Slack and some employee can't log in.

Reason for choosing Slack

I needed something that will be easy to learn for my employees. I have frequent rotation of employees and i dont have time to teach new employees a software. ### "Slack is always on their game."

January 31, 2018

5.0

Pros

Uptime: There have been so few service interruptions in the last year. I can only remember one service interruption that has affected us where general functionality was unavailable for about 45 mins. Obviously 100% uptime is preferable with any software, but I'll accept 99.999%. Fun: Slack feels fun to use and I'm not ashamed to say that otherwise boring conversations are elevated in their level of fun because of Slack use. Slack, for me, really evokes some of the early days of IRC, YIM/AIM use with the plethora of available emojis, shorthand, gifs, and so forth. Flexibility: Need a new channel to discuss the latest project? It takes 20 seconds to create. Need to integrate with X service to fill Y business need? No problem. Need to set up a bot to help keep track of Z issues or to spin up a new QA database series? It can do that. Navigation: Navigation takes about a week to learn, but becomes such a seamless part of your experience with Slack, especially with keyboard shortcuts. Channel hopping is easy, DM hopping is easy, thread creation is easy.

Cons

Cry Wolf Effect: The larger your organization, or the chattier your employees/co-workers, the less productive slack can become. Sometimes you really need to be in a channel because of its important messages, but if your teammates are blowing it up with cat gifs it becomes white noise. This sets up the "Cry Wolf Effect" whereby posting abuse means you are never sure if the channels that are important ever have anything important going on in them. So, unless you constantly check them it becomes fatiguing really quickly. Yes, one simple solution is to set up a dumpster channel for the white noise, but its really easy for that to leak into important business channels unless everyone agrees to a standardized code of posting behavior and rules.

### "Experience after 3 years of useing Slack"

August 15, 2022

5.0

Slack demonstrates a strong scientific link, particularly when used for internal company communication. Slack is also user-friendly, with an easy-to-use layout and a login interaction with LinkedIn. Furthermore, as compared to other programs, this application is quite light on computers and phones.

Pros

It is highly handy for this application to combine login with Linkin, which helps to improve connection possibilities while eliminating many redundant login processes. Also, because Slack is cross-platform (desktop, Android, and iOS), everyone in my firm can communicate with one another regardless of device. Furthermore, the possibility to connect to other storage services like Dropbox, Google Drive, GitHub... Slack's free plan allows users to save up to 10,000 messages exchanged by the team, 5GB of storage, and connect up to 5 additional carrier services.

Cons

The storage of messages only takes place for a short time and it is necessary to update the paid application versions to use more features. This makes the free version quite limited and unpopular for long-term storage of information.

Reason for choosing Slack

I went through all the possible applications to find the most user-friendly channel in my software company. Done Slack clearly shows multi-app friendliness so I chose it.

### "Absolutely necessary for your team"

September 10, 2022

5.0

A very necessary tool for my business and team, especially as we are remote.

Pros

I can't imagine working without Slack. Daily instant communications, group divisions, discussions per topic, threads... quick calls with team members or huddles. Fast to find messages or conversations about a specific topic. Can integrate with platforms to make working across platforms easier (google calendar is key to my team, to see when we are in meetings and set expectations on when can we/can we not answer).

Cons

I use it daily and I enjoy every second of it!

Reason for choosing Slack

Everything is combined in one, easy to use and at a great cost.
