### "This is the best Social networking or messaging platform for business teams or large organizations"

October 10, 2021

5.0

Overall, I will highly recommend any business with a large number of employees to use this app which is totally free for ease of business communication and info sharing

Pros

This platform is no doubt the best to connect with other employees in a business setting or it could be employed for individual purposes. It can handle thousands of teams members or very big organizations. You can also share files across or even protect a file so that only a specify sub-set of member can view them. It is also very secured and easy to use. The user interface is very beautiful. It also has a desktop version for more extended features such as remote communication - teleconferencing. Also, this great app is totally free

Cons

So far, I haven't experienced any set backs with this software. If you are looking for an app for private communication, this wouldn't be the best option for you as it was designed for larger groups or businesses.

### "The reason tasks get done"

September 26, 2022

5.0

I use Slack to manage a High School Robotics team, it is very easy to add, remove, or move members to or from specific channels. We have separate channels for every sub team including Electrical, Design, Software, Scouting, and Strategy. I also use slack as a member of the University of Michigan Rocketry Team (MASA). We use Slack as our main communication source, with over 900 total members on the team, and around 100 active students. This is all done on the free version of Slack, which although has its limits, it proved to be essential in a high stakes project like a 20ft tall rocket. Most clubs I've joined use Slack as their main communication source, so it must be good.

Pros

Slack allows the project teams I'm apart of, the ability to manage their workforce and knowledge. This is usually by communicating issues and meeting notes in a Slack message, which can be discussed in detail in a thread or different channel to maintain the virtual workspace clean. The best part is that anyone on the team will acknowledge the message, but they can choose to dive deeper into the topics addressed in the message if they want to through the use of channels or threads. This helps us manage the levels of interest on the team, something that other software wouldn't have allowed us to do.

Cons

There aren't any restrictions on censorship or age that could be applied to specific channels or members. I have no way of ensuring that other students don't post inappropriate messages or pictures without other students seeing them first. I'm not sure what this restriction could look like, but it's a concern because I'm not monitoring the channels 24/7. Another concern is that anyone can view any channel, whether they have joined it or not. This makes it difficult to communicate information for example, between two teams on the same slack.

### "Communication during the pandemic became easy"

July 29, 2021

5.0

I enjoy Slack very well and I saved a lot of time and money since I have an online business and now I do not really need to have a real-life business office to manage my business and to remain organized with the staff I only use Slack with other tools and Slack assistance. I use Slack daily and I'm still going to work with it, since I think it's the greatest tool for me and my team. I truly need not use another tool, because I can do anything I want with Slack and I know that the team behind it tries to do its best to develop it.

Pros

It is highly user-friendly, and you can start using it right away without having to learn anything new. To get started, you don't need to be a techie. I appreciate features like being able to transmit codes/commands in a distinct text (framed with red color, etc.) and directing messages in a huge chat group by using "@," as well as copying and pasting previous messages. I really prefer the mobile app version since it helps me to stay connected even when I'm not at my computer. I really enjoy the reminder tool, which I use for recurrent meetings or just to keep track of my own schedule.

Cons

The biggest issue is the pricing, as well as the limitations in how I may use Slack for both work and non-work communication. I can't really criticize it because it wasn't designed for non-work communication. However, I'd want to see more focused paradigms emerge in the ecosystem so that I don't have to utilize as many chat programs. Another problem is the difficulty in locating and managing my custom web hooks. I usually wind up spending 5 minutes on the site trying to find out what we hook integrations I have and where to change them, no matter how frequently I use it.

### "The Ultimate Tool to Work From Home! "

August 10, 2022

5.0

Slack enables me to coordinate all my Meetings and Team communications in a very professional Manner. It has been a great platform to share our files. Screen sharing is another add on worth it.

Pros

Slack is a well thought platform for Entrepreneurs to use and be more efficient in a timely manner. Working from home, this tool has enabled me to work everything out on a single software and this saves me a lot of time.

Cons

Concerning the Drawbacks, i have not quite found any yet, it is very user friendly and everyday you learn something new about the various features it has.

### "Slack Gets the Job Done"

November 26, 2021

4.0

Pros

For anyone used to hangouts, MS Teams, or just plain old text messaging, Slack is easy to adopt and begin using for communication and collaboration. Direct messaging others is as simple as adding '@' before their username, and when you create a conversation with multiple people, they're automatically saved as a group you can instantly ping at any time. Conversations with multiple replies are rolled up into threads to keep the message board clean. And, Slack allows you to communicate with outside companies (i.e., vendors, agencies), as long as they use Slack, as well. It's such a timesaver vs. email! Slack also seamlessly integrates with a plethora of collaboration and organizational apps like Google Calendar, Clockwise and Zoom. So, seeing your daily schedule, sharing your status, and your availability to reply to others, etc. are all handled automatically. And, you can start a Zoom meeting with one shortcut and invite others instantly. And, for file management, attachments are easy to add, preview and fully display.

Cons

Slack uses shortcuts to fire certain apps or actions. This approach is great if you're used to thinking in code. But, for anyone that isn't, it may be a lot to learn so many different shortcuts and could possibly cause some users to miss out on Slack's more powerful features. The same goes for Slack markdown in general. There are some great templates to add greater usability to Slack posts. However, they require using and editing Slack markdown, which basically is easiest done in the markdown builder tool and then pushed back into Slack. The markdown code itself is straightforward. But, for teams that don't code (and honestly may not need to code), it's a missed opportunity for them to do more with Slack.

### "Slack - the best tool for keeping team communication and collaboration easy and seamless"

September 6, 2022

5.0

We love it - our team thrive because of this communication platform. We are a remote, flexible team and we can build team rapport and keep on track with projects and tasks despite our varying schedules, with ease efficiency.

Pros

Absolute ease of use, and the channel options have made our conversation threads to the point, topical, and optional for "opt in" for the team. This means we can leave a channel that isn't relevant and avoid conversation threads clogging up our notifications and improve our productivity. Our team have the freedom to self mange what they need to be involved in, and it is easy to find and refer back to previous posts/shares.

Cons

The potential for overwhelm and missing conversations - BUT if you utilise channels, encourage the team to opt in and out of conversations via relevance, and make use of features such as bookmarking, huddle or voice notes, you'll find that you can reduce this and improve team productivity.

### "Slack: A magnificent tool for team communication in modern workplace"

June 3, 2022

5.0

Pros

Slack helps to organize our conversations into different channels where everyone can come at one place to share and discuss their ideas, make efficient decisions and move forward with work without going back and forth with mails or other inefficient collaborative applications.

Cons

The conversation get deleted after 14 days. So we need to save something important manually. File storage is minimum when files are sent through slack. It can be a distraction if not used well and can hamper work instead of being a tool for collaboration specially with getting message notification all day long.

Se trata de una aplicación muy fácil de usar desde el primer momento. Tiene las ventajas de otras aplicaciones de uso común pero destinada exclusivamente al mundo laboral lo que nos permite concentrar toda esa información en un único elemento.

Cons

### "Slack -- Great for Startup companies or enterprises"

October 12, 2020

5.0

Collaboration problems solved. Excellent plugins, and even writing your own (for example have a Git commit hook setup, that shows any commit, and also, any deploys to staging and production, so the entire team can see what is happening.

Pros

Very easy to share files, and have separate conversation threads (IRC style), with multiple members of your team. You can create channels to and invite members to, to discuss a particular topic -- such names of different projects, or groups within the company. Really allows you to organize your thoughts and help manage your teams projects and tasks, as far as communication.

Cons

While it offers great collaboration tools, the actual project and task management is kind of lacking. Even though we use Trello and Jira (and you can have Trello and Jira plugins for Slack, but they don't really integrate into the UI), I wind up assigning and following up on tasks from within Slack. For example, i will message a developer and ask them to fix a list of bugs, or post 5 or 6 detail fixes/feature requests, after reviewing a new branch on staging. The problem is that you then send subsequent messages on that channel, and the tasks get buried. Then you have to scroll up, and find the task, if you want to review. There is no way for the developer to mark the task as done, or for me to easily see if they did it. Sometimes, I will have to scroll back into conversation thread for weeks, to find the 5 or 6 requests I made to the dev, and then re-ask the dev if he completed them. Now, this may be a nit unfair, since Slack is not a project management tool, however, it lends itself VERY EASILY to being one, since it natural to assign tasks within Slack. The slack team could very easily build tasks as a native feature in Slack, and make collaborating on tasks and PM much easier, as it's too time consuming to hop into Jira each time a bug is found -- I simply don't have time.

### "It facilitates quicker and easier communication."

August 11, 2022

5.0

I adored the audio and video quality as well as the screens sharing function.

Pros

Slack allows new users to start using it straight away with little to no setup required. The program offers a broad list of apps that may be integrated so that information can be discussed across a range of platforms from inside of Slack. Google Drive is one of the most popular programs, thus businesses who utilize Google Drive as their primary content management system should consider Slack. Slack has proven useful for both small and large businesses. Slack's numerous channels can be used by both small businesses and established organizations. It is simple to divide and conquer when each department has its own distinctive theme. It helps me and my team a lot while I am working on a research project.

Cons

Slack is wonderful for swiftly keeping track of what's happening, but it falls short when it comes to talks that cover a wide range of topics. Deeper interactions are best left to other tools because it might be challenging to maintain a conversation from beginning to end. It can be challenging to keep up with multiple talks occurring at once, especially in a larger organization. Going back over talks to identify a specific topic can be difficult and time-consuming, even with distinct channels.

### "Good Product"

January 13, 2021

5.0

interact with an individual or collective collaborator in a simple and practical way, the easy creation of multiple channels, it also facilitates written and oral communication the variety of its emoticon system makes it possible to react to messages from collaborators in a very lively manner. Its API system makes Slack consumable and exploitable by external systems, the thing that allows the team to keep a real level of information on the end-to-end integration chain. as an example, we can integrate slack with Jira and dice when I move

Pros

With slack we have grouped all our exchanges in one place with public and private communication channels, also slack has allowed us to keep feedback on practical exchanges on the problems encountered by our teams and also the problems encountered by the post. Thanks to its mobile version, we have kept our team close by in the event of a problem or breakdown or unforeseen events.

Cons

as soon as slack is integrated with several APIs and as soon as they start to have a lot of exchange, the slack software becomes longer, also on one of the slack offers, the history of slack does not stay long, also a thing that slack lacks is the user and group management part which is not very simple the same thing for adding a plug-in I did not find it very simple

### "The perfect Team Collaboration Tool"

December 11, 2020

4.0

I really like Slack, and it saved me a lot of money and time because I have an online business and now I really don't need to have a real-life office to run my business and stay organized with the team I just use Slack with other tools Slack support and that's it, It's perfect for everyone especially small businesses like mine. I use Slack daily and I will keep using it because I think it's the best tool for me and for my team and I really don't need to use another one because I can do everything I want with Slack and I know the team behind it is trying to do their best to improve it and add more useful and powerful features to help us stay organized.

Pros

It's a very cheap and easy to use tool with a friendly user interface and I can change it to a dark theme which I like a lot. I like the chat option because I can send and receive real-time messages and chat with my team directly and the Slack messaging app is very powerful and amazing. I also like the emojis and gifs in the chat because it brings a lot of fun to the workspace. I feel very safe using Slack because they have a strong security system and I don't need to worry about the safety of my files when I share them. It helped me to save a lot of time and to stay organized and have all my projects in just one place and I really don't need to use other tools to do this. I really don't need to train my VA's to use Slack because some of them used it before and some they find it very easy to use and they get used to it in just a few days. I improved my productivity and now I don't need to waste any time because Slack helped me and the Team to developed focused channels and to focus on what's important for the company and for the business in general. I love the integration option Slack has because I can use it with multi-useful tools now for example Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Calendar, Zoom, Trello...etc. Their support is amazing and they have a lot of videos and tutorials about these tools and I learned a lot from them.

Cons

They can improve the mobile app and add more cool features in the future. They can Improve the search feature because sometimes It's really hard to find something especially if the workspace is big and there are many channels. They can add a video chat feature to this tool because a lot of companies now are using the video option in other tools for better communication.

### "Searchable Log of All Conversation and Knowledge. Pfft!"

October 21, 2022

5.0

I think it's a crucial part of my work life at the moment. While I've not tried Microsoft Teams, I'm pretty happy with the offerings Slack has and wouldn't want to switch to Teams unless forced to.

Pros

1\. Being able to control how and when the notifications are delivered, this allows for me to have the app on my phone and macbook, without being distractingly bothersome during personal time.2. Custom plugins that integrate with 3rd party services work well. Things like giphy support, Google Calendar support, story pointing, or even custom bots to monitor some dashboards.

Cons

1\. Search feature is FAAAARR from ideal. I don't think it even does fuzzy search, so if you're not very sure of the exact word that you're looking for, chances are you won't find it.

### "The great team collaborative tool to manage and share"

August 24, 2021

5.0

Slack is unique to provide bots, channels and options with commands. It gives the usability within our team to monitor logs and alerts which is our favourite aspect of this product. We also chat with team and arrange meetings including screen share which makes it easier for us to interact with the team on timely projects

Pros

Slacks work as a great tool for Developers and IT Team especially in an organization. With the built in tools and API's, we can enable our system and server alerts and logs to come through Slack notification. It makes life easier to browse through the Logs on slack and search rather than on the device itself. It has great usability with team collaboration, file sharing and meetings

Cons

Slack use lot of resources to run including RAM/CPU due to which it requires a good hardware to affectively work.

Reason for choosing Slack

Anyone looking to implement Team projects, Slack is the best solution to go through with as it will help implementing the desired key points to bring team on the same page. Slack requires good hardware specifications to run affectively

### "Google Hangouts Replacement, Saved us from Teams"

September 12, 2019

5.0

I actually enjoy Slack. It is fun to use, and I like much more than sending an email.

Pros

Slack really allows us to communicate effectively based on group or subject. We can communicate directly in the General chat, directly, or in any number of specialized group channels. Each team has their own channel, and if needed, that channel can be locked to prevent other teams from entering. Most are open channels that allow for any of our teams to come in and converse on the subject titled. One our favorite things to use are external apps. I love that Slack will pop up an upcoming appointment or if we need a meeting in say Zoom, I can just type /zoom and it will generate a Zoom link and we can all join in. We are on the free tier, so with the higher level tier, you can get conferencing and a wealth of other features added in. The free level serves us very well. We use email integration also, so important emails and even things like weather alerts pop up as a Slack notification. It is really a great service.

Cons

Can be confusing to use if you are not used to chat systems such as Hangouts or WhatsApp though. The idea of a separate room, or Group chat, confuses some, but once they see how things work, it is a non-issue.

Alternatives considered

[Microsoft Teams](https://www.capterra.com/p/168668/Microsoft-Teams/)

Reason for choosing Slack

Microsoft Teams is a poor implementation of what Slack is. It is a burden to use. The layout of the Teams application was awful and the channel layouts were hard to use. It was free to use also, but we did not want to deal with that headache. I think that if Teams did not come with O365, people would not use it. It is awful. Slack is designed so much better overall.

### "Slack User for over an year."

October 15, 2022

5.0

Overall, slack being a new software in the industry is paving way to cater the requirement of businesses and teams. It has been improved over the years and in coming time, it will give tough competition to Microsoft Teams and Skype for Businesses.

Pros

Real time communication is very essential to avoid information gap between team members. Slack mobile application enables person to communicate from cross devices and share files wherever applicable. When it comes to mobile access, the importance lies to maintain connection at remote areas when we are away from our primary working device. At times, a user is unable to see the other person's status whether he is online of offline. I had reported this to the slack help community also with evidences. Apart from regular emails, real time chat window paves a way to share files and documents among team members and slack fulfills this requirement.

Cons

I would rate Alerts/Notification low because most of the time I missed important notifications because Slack neither sent it to my mobile device nor as a desktop notification on my PC. Search Filter does not have an option to show the designation of the other person you're chatting with.

### "The Discord but for companies"

May 25, 2022

4.0

The experience you can expect from Slack is pure productivity since it is as if you were there all the time with the people you collaborate with since you can send a file instantly with your collaborators, organize meetings, generate reports of the day, everything a company does can be done in Slack and it is the perfect workspace for those who work 100% remote and I reiterate it is as if you were there since you can do everything in this software.

Pros

It is ideal for those who already know how to use this type of software, since it comes from the Discord family, they share almost the same interface and the same functions, except that one is more for social issues and creating communities, and the other Slack is precisely for pure and remote collaborative work. Here at any time you can hold a meeting, share files, and documents either light or heavy, and have specific channels for each task of the company, all in one place. And that's what Slack tries to do, I reiterate it is a bit difficult to understand at first if you have no previous experience with Discord, but even so, you adapt and get the rhythm quickly.

Cons

It could be the blocked features that you have when you have a free plan since you don't have group video calls, or the ability to share a screen within a call, this is something fundamental for a meeting. But of course, if you are going to use Slack it should be with a paid plan because you unlock many productive features which achieve the ultimate experience of this app.

### "The Backbone of Every Team"

January 11, 2021

Slack is the essential aspect of communication in our business and has truly revolutionized our productivity. Efficiently transferring data and resolving issues has become a breeze in comparison to the alternative of sending emails and waiting for responses. I can not survive a single day without using Slack, and I would highly recommend you to try the software!

Pros

Innovating the world of interaction while increasing productivity is immensely in fashion. Easily communicating with teammates, getting on quick calls, sharing files, and incorporating other business softwares such as bug trackers has been some of the best features for my team and I. Although there are alternatives such as Discord, Slack has a more professional approach with the entire user experience and the video calling system offered has stronger features.

Cons

The only inconvenience I overcame while using Slack was during the preliminary phases when I was still using the free trial. One clever approach the company implemented is to hide previous messages after a certain amount of messages have been sent whilst using the free trial. In a business environment, accessing previously discussed information is crucial, therefore I was driven to purchasing the paid membership, which overall was a great investment.

### "Slack, an innovative tool for creating digitally managed workspaces."

November 20, 2022

5.0

Slack behaves perfectly when it comes to creating a collaborative space and ensuring effective monitoring of projects, as well as providing a platform that interacts with the rest of the company's information systems, with multiple integration opportunities.

Pros

With Slack, we can keep organized a virtual workspace that is oriented towards the fulfillment of objectives, more in line with the agile and dynamic environments that we manage today and allows us to bring together the stakeholders of a project even if they are located in different places. very distant places.

Cons

Sometimes, it is important and useful to make assignments for the supervision of the workspace during the execution of the project so that everything works according to the proposed goals, and in this way we make sure to guarantee that all communications flow and the end dates of the described activities will be completed in the scheduled time, Slack also has the flexibility to use our criteria as project managers in the tool, so it does not represent an obstacle to creativity and innovation.

The mobile app is very functional.Slack has a lot of integrations with tools like Google Calendars, Github, Asana, etc., so all the information / updates can be viewed and actioned in one place, with instant notifications, without having to check five different websites to gather required data.

Cons

One feature I see as missing is edit history of messages. Slack lets you know that the message was edited, but it does not inform what was changed. Sometimes it gets tricky. Also, the built-in file sharing and huddle features are rather basic. Huddles are okay for quick catch-ups, but for longer or larger meetings, Slack is never a tool of choice.

October 6, 2022

5.0

Very good to use.. and it increase the team productivity.

Pros

It has both mobile and web apps, notification part settings for different devices, Slack bot reminders, and integrations with other application features. Channel restrictions and different notification settings for different devices (mobile and web)—use the Thread feature for the continuing conversion of any topic. No delay in real-time communications... and a notification feature for all members in a group or individual separately.one of the excellent product for team communication.

Cons

I could not able to find one... but some times i have heard from my team members notification is not working once they uninstall and install again it is working fine.

Reason for choosing Slack

Very good to use.. and it increase the team productivity for sure. - better and faster communication.
