### "Slack Public Channels improves company communication across teams."

May 6, 2019

5.0

It's a great tool, these are the key points for me: \* Improve team collaboration, shared information in a single place and all team has access to the same information. \* Reach people, sometimes you need to collaborate to make things happen, and slack does a great job at that. \* Integrate to CI/CD pipelines, we received notification about or system all time. It's better than having thousands of emails.

Pros

Public channels: They are easy to create/configure and allow members of the company to share important information in a single place. This is really helpful for software development teams when important information is shared with other application it gets lost and there is no record of it. With the slack channel, the information is stored and can be used as references. (Developers don't have or we don't want to have time to write documentation). 1:1 Message: What I really like is that is very easy to find people and ping them and start a conversion. Most important, you can share files, photos, URL, gifs (Very important), in a single place. Making collaboration easy and something to enjoy. Integration: Slack can be integrated with a lot of third parties. In my case, it's very useful to integrate with Jenkins and code versioning applications. We have implemented CI/CD and we received a slack notification with deploy information, testing information or if a system is down. Cross-Platform: Be able to access slack with cell-phone/desktop application is really awesome. If I don't have my computer at hand, I can keep replying messages and collaborate. Especially important when we have a critical bug, or we have to take action. UX: The UX is one of the best, you can start using slack with no training, it's very intuitive and easy to use. Once you start using it, you don't want to use other applications.

Cons

Conversion history: Sometimes the conversion history is deleted after N amount of dates. Probably this is a configuration in my company, but I would like to store more information. Re-Login: Once in a while, you have to re-login, but what I don't like is that it logs you out without giving you a warning. It had happend before that the application logs me out, and I notice that one hour later.

### "Slack Review."

October 11, 2022

5.0

It's good considering its features and efficiency. Any organisations or individual can go for its pricing and efficiency.

Pros

The software is super cool and it's user interface is built in such a way that even a beginner can learn how to use the software within few days. It's super efficient and responsive and support team helps us to sort the problems we face.

Cons

The only one think is that files gets deleted automatically if the subscription limit is reached which at times becomes hectic to cope with.

### "Slack Review"

August 17, 2022

5.0

My overall experience with Slack is too good. It helps my organisation to communicate fast and easily.

Pros

Real-Time communication is the best feature about this software I liked most. It is lightweight software and easy to use software. And also help to transfer the file easily and fast. It also helps to create different groups for different discussion so all the team member can easily recollect what discussion they were doing in that groups. It supports multiple keyboard format as well as languages. Mentions is also good feature they have. By this mentioned person can quickly respond to the query.

Cons

As of now, I don't have anything which i don't like about this software. They are doing good as per the user experience.

### "Slack: a good business instant message application"

November 11, 2019

4.0

My experience with Slack has been really good. Slack helps me a lot on my daily activities and even more when I'm working from a remote location or inspecting something and need to interact with our team at the main office.

Pros

Slack is easy to use and its interface is very similar to other IM applications we have been using for years. That makes the transition from whatever IM software currently in use to Slack quick and smooth. In our company, nobody needed to be trained to use Slack and users went well with the transition process. Slack allows users to customize their names, profile picture, and current status. It's also possible to send messages to individuals, groups of people, and into channels. Users most commonly send text messages but they have the option to send screen captures, pictures, and files in general at their own convenience. A very useful resource in my opinion is the ability to create shared channels where you can add people from outside your organization as well as users from other Slack organizations. With this feature, you can create a support channel with a service provider and have quick interaction with them, for example.

Cons

I don't have too much complaints about Slack. One of them is that as an Administrator, I believe that the management interface is a bit confusing. Sometimes it takes me a while to remember certain basic operations because Slack has its own way of having that done. Also, I had issues with some of my users a couple of times because of bugs with Slack application. The last I remember would freeze half of the user's screen so nothing shown in that area was clickable of selectable. Closing and reopening Slack would temporarily solve the problem. I contacted Slack support and they confirmed that as a known issue and that would be fixed soon with a software update.

Reason for choosing Slack

It was a top down decision.

### "Game changer for our company"

August 22, 2022

5.0

We had Slack before the pandemic and only about half of our staff used it. Then in 2020 it was a game changer. It enabled us to work from home and stay connected to each other and continue our business. Staff that had once balked were now all in once they realized how easy, fun and useful it was. We have channels set up for various topics (pets, books, fun) that help keep staff engaged while we were remote and now that we are hybrid. It's a fun way to keep connected.

Pros

Of course I love the messaging, but I also am impressed with the audio and video conferencing, screen sharing, and document sharing features. Slack can do so much more than messaging and they are always finding new features to make work better for us.

Cons

The only problem we have is that on occasion staff have a hard time connecting. Honestly, it's probably their home internet issues, but other than that, there are no problems with Slack.

### "SLACK-Making our lives easy"

August 18, 2022

5.0

Pros

TRANSPARENCY There is no need to forward numerous emails to the person joining your project because every content in Slack channels is searchable. FLEXIBILITY Along with real-time messaging, Slack also includes built-in file-sharing, calls, clips, and other features. Consequently, you can collaborate effectively anyhow you do so. COLLABORATION Instead of restricting work to email's segregated communication, Slack connects internal and external teams across geographies, time zones, and working methods. SECURITY Spam and phishing are risks of email collaboration. You may collaborate securely with clients, vendors, or partners with Slack Connect. INTEGRATIONS Never miss an attachment again by connecting over 2,400 apps to Slack, including your calendar and daily tools.

Cons

Messaging can become chaotic and disorganised: Even using the search option, material can be quickly buried when several individuals are working together on a project in a chat format. Slack moves quickly, making it challenging to stay on top of everything. Natural addiction Emojis and push notifications give Slack a lot of what makes social media so addictive. This could indicate that your staff spends too much time checking Slack and not enough time working. Possibly shallow It's challenging to hold meaningful conversations over instant chats in comparison to face-to-face interactions. Substantive communication through group communications is significantly more difficult to achieve.

### "Slack is a key part of our collaborative workflow "

August 16, 2022

5.0

Pros

Slack is one of the most important services that we use on projects. When working with large teams that NEED to stay on the same page, the real-time messaging, chat, and sharing features are critical to create a smooth workflow for all. Slack makes it very easy to connect the team in real-time. It has all but replaced email for internal communications between teams. Saving files and pinning important chats is very easy and helps showcase what it important to everyone.

Cons

There is nothing that stands out that I like "least" about Slack. You need a good stable Internet connection. Working offline for my is not useful.

### "The Gold Standard For Workplace Communication"

July 21, 2020

5.0

We have employees all over the world so Slack is our hub for communication. We use it to have conversations, post announcements, and brainstorm ideas. It can also launch video conferences with excellent annotation features which makes it easy to share ideas about a document or piece of code.

Pros

It is extremely easy to use, there are many bots and tools to customize your workspace, and the actual communication tools are superior to the ones offered by Google and Microsoft. For example, the ability to thread conversations, easily set reminders about messages, and other subtle things add up to a much better communication system.

Cons

I have experienced no major negatives as a user of the product. Depending on the number of users in your organization, the monthly cost will start to add up but I think this is similar to their competitors unless you're already paying them for other services that include something like Microsoft Teams, for example.

Alternatives considered

[ValueOps](https://www.capterra.com/p/177580/CA-Flowdock/)[Microsoft Teams](https://www.capterra.com/p/168668/Microsoft-Teams/)[Google Meet](https://www.capterra.com/p/176572/Google-Hangouts/)

Reason for choosing Slack

Slack has better usability than Microsoft Teams and Google Meet. Users inside the company mostly preferred to use Slack even when multiple options were available. The threading functionality is particularly useful. Flowdock actually does conversation threading the best of all the products, but its a smaller player at this point so is probably not considered as often.

Switched from

Flowdock was actually a high quality product and the best competitor to Slack that I've tried, but Slack became much more popular and started to have better integrations with other third party services. At this point, Slack has become synonymous with workplace communication software in the same way that Zoom has for workplace video chat.

### "QA Specialist POV of Slack"

October 25, 2022

5.0

I am delighted and impressed with the software. In my opinion, this is the best software to use for work because you can organize your channel based on how significant it is to your work.

Pros

It's user-friendly, and convenient to navigate, and I love how it makes communication with my team very easy. Not to mention the customized emojis! I love that we can create our own emojis that relate to how we feel about a specific message/update. Lastly, I love that we can connect different apps to slack such as Google Calendar.

Cons

The video call feature. I find it hard to navigate and the interface is quite old-version for me. I like using huddle more than the video call feature.

### "Perfect for all aspects of company enablement. "

November 11, 2022

5.0

I have used Slack both within a sales role and an engineering role and it has worked perfectly for both situations. Whether its a quick question that a colleague can answer or if it's an hour-long screen/file-sharing session, Slack has probably helped us to make more money through its set of enablement tools.

Pros

Having the ability to connect with colleagues instantly make both remote and in-person working very efficient. Whether it's to ask a quick question or to go through an hour collaboration session with screen sharing and file sharing it's ideal.

Cons

On the whole, this software is perfect, however, very occasionally there will be glitches with 'huddles' either with audio not working properly or video not working. However, this is usually sorted out very quickly with a system reboot, either just the app or your laptop, because for us, slack is just an internal tool its not a major problem.

### "Slack offers seamless Communication across the organisation and value for money"

October 25, 2021

5.0

Overall Slack is a great platform for teams looking for seamless communication across the organisation and value for money.

Pros

Slack is one of the best platforms available for team communication. After using it for almost 3 years now, it provides our organisation with real-time and seamless communication and offers the most value for your money. Through Slack, you can instant message your team for a quick ask or direct message a specific member for any questions. You can also share files easily by uploading or you even connect your Google Drive/Dropbox to share file links. You can also have fun communicating using emoji's or just share fun GIF's to your team. The free version offers all the features needed for team communication but if you want additional productivity features to level up your communication like communicating with outside vendors on your workspace, then you can definitely opt for getting paid plan. Slack is a very intuitive platform and user friendly.

Cons

Slack is a great tool for communication across teams but it does not offer any project management features.

Reason for choosing Slack

Our organisation chose Slack initially because of the great reviews and great features available both on free and paid accounts.

### "Slack: The Bridge Connecting Colleagues With Effective Communication "

August 30, 2022

5.0

While Slack is not extra-ordinary, it certainly is reliable. Its quick communication is the most attractive thing about it. If the problems are fixed, then it can do so much better.

Pros

Slack is a holistic platform which allows to integrate with other office tools and spaces. The best part about it is that one doesn't have to check their mails often. When your workplace is virtually available on Slack, 24\*7 updates are available on a simple notification. With detailed notification settings, one can also choose to appear offline/away after office hours. Another good thing about it is, Slack is neither too personal nor to formal. You can chat/reach out to any member of the company at any time without having to worry if you are disturbing someone or being too informal in doing so. The reminders for meetings and special events eliminate the need to mark them personally on a calendar. All in all, Slack is the ultimate interface every organisation needs.

Cons

One of the things that needs improvement is the audio-visual quality of the video call service of Slack. That really needs working. Apart from this, Slack can be a little confusing with many channels that one has to navigate through. Channels are like sub-groups within one common platform. Too many channels can sometimes create confusion and miscommunication. Another problem would be its limitation of working smoothly only on the app. It often runs roughly on Chrome or any other browser.

### "Slack it to me"

March 31, 2019

5.0

Our organization was still using Skype in an archaic way for instant message communication and file transfers. Slack was the professional upgrade we needed that took the best of those features, enhanced, and organized them in one place. There were doubters at first, but the critics have come to see the value and we can't imagine doing our work without it now. "Slack it to me" is a phrase you'll hear in my office every single day.

Pros

"Slack it to me" is now one of the commonly heard phrases around our office. Though there was a time I wondered if I would be able to get this platform off the ground and embedded in our workplace culture. Since I first saw it in action at a hackathon the value seemed obvious. Not only does it facilitate communication, but it's become a place where we encourage each other, compete with each other, and build a digital working culture that didn't exist before. Things like message reactions, gifs, and custom animated emojis might not seem like essential workplace tools, but you'd be surprised by how important they've turned out to be. The people who doubted Slack was "necessary" before have come to see the value in it as it's taken off among our team. We pay for it now, and it's worth every penny.

Cons

Slack has proven indispensable as an instant messaging platform, but it can quickly grow out of control as more channels and private channels are created. Some on the team feel overwhelmed by how much information is available to them and struggle to keep on top of their unread threads and notifications. When implementing for your workplace, you may want to think about training to help people feel less overwhelmed and whether there's any kind of standard structure you want to enforce. For example, Some Slack workspaces I am a part of have extremely limited channels and keep everything centralized. Another thing you might find you don't like is the limited message history available on the free version. If you're committed to it, you really need to pay for the upgrade.

### "Great Internal Communication Tool"

August 11, 2021

4.0

Overall, Slack offers a wide variety of features and customizations at a very reasonable price. The service availability has been very reliable, and the platform continues to release new updates to improve their portfolio of service offerings. For companies that rely on instant messaging for both internal and external communication, I would highly recommend this service.

Pros

Slack is incredibly easy set up and deploy. The Settings and Administration dashboard is very intuitive and easy to maneuver, making onboarding and offboarding new members a very quick process. Slack has API integrations with a lot popular, commonly used software services such as Google, JIRA, etc., which allows users to monitor a larger spectrum of notifications within a single platform. The message service is also relatively customizable, which allows you to add both fun and productive features to what would otherwise be a monotonous instant messaging tool.

Cons

Slack does not current offer advanced features for content organization. Individuals topics or groups need to be separated into channels, but you cannot add subdirectories to those channels for more granular organization. This results in an excessive number of Slack channels that need to be maintained and monitored on a regular basis, creating disorganization. Slack also has below average phone and video quality when compared to competing services such as Zoom and Google Meet. I often experience issues with bluetooth headphone connectivity when using these features.

It also lets us connect with external slack (companies) and easily communicate with third-party companies with ease. Switching between organizations is a breeze. It has helped me streamline and automate a lot of the flows that we would generally spend hours on. Slack has improved efficiency across departments and makes sure that I never miss out on any crucial updates. not only that, it is super useful for working remotely, which is the reality of our life!

Pros

The best part of using slack is the huge user base and the peer community that has solutions for any integration or problem you might face, ready to troubleshoot it. The platform is trustworthy and has a lot of essential features that let me focus on my business first.

Cons

### "Remains the best multi-platform team communication software"

February 17, 2023

4.0

Slack continues to be my go-to software for team communication. We set it up for all our projects and encourage our clients to engage with us through it. It continues to develop in a positive direction and we see large scale adoption across our sector.

Pros

Easy to use, easy to set up and deploy for a team. It's familiar to most digital workers. It is popular enough that it has a significant community around it and integrates with just about every digital tool on the market. You can be a part of multiple organisations at the same time within one login (something Microsoft Teams cannot easily do). Integrations like Giphy can add a fun element to chats. You can also use Slack Connect to link two organisations together for certain projects.

Cons

It can become overwhelming when you have lots of conversations going on, especially if you're part of multiple organisations.

### "Great communication & cooperation tool "

December 22, 2021

5.0

I love it.

Pros

It's really easy to use and has amazing features. Especially when working in a big team or remote, you still feel connected. You can easily turn off notifications to get in to your focus mode and also share your status with your coworkers, if you're OOO, afk or currently in a meeting etc. Everything is very informal, so you don't lose time writing emails internally. You usually get answers really quick, especially when you post them in a channel and ask a whole team. Very good for feedback and open discussions.

Cons

I recommend to setup some Slack guidelines in your office, so you don't get disturbed by notifications. But usually those can be adjusted pretty easy in the settings. I would love it to have a better conferencing tool, where you can have meetings with several people in a closed meeting room, without having to create new groups. But otherwise this tool is amazing!

### "Communicate and be productive in a fun way"

February 1, 2019

4.0

If used properly and to the best interest o the company project and people, slack could be beneficial in communication, tracking and solving issues.

Pros

I use slack everyday at work and it is how we as the engineering team communicate with each other without disturbing each other's concentration and space. I started using slack 2 years ago and I can definitely see how easy it is to get stuff done and get the messages out to the team. - Great for building trust among team It's basically like a group messenger for work with additional benefits. It even allows GIFs which is pretty awesome. The team members are always on it and sharing each other's fun facts for the day and issues they ran into. it is great to get any new team member onboard really fast and part of the community. It makes people be engaged and part of the project in a much deeper level. - Simple but powerful There is not much to slack as it is a simple communication platform but it has incorporated some great tools to make it powerful. It has incorporated access to google drive so if you are using slack outside of work where the shared websites are not blocked it is definitely useful - Speedy to resolve issues Have an issue? share it on slack and see how your team members respond. Even though you may not reply to the conversation you are still learning at all times which I found was extremely beneficial.

Cons

Slack can be an issue if the team use it for more than just work most of the times, - Steer away from the goal many times I noticed team steered away from the actual work and conversation went a different direction. it is easy for that to happen when there are a lot of people in the group and bringing up different points. - Needing to engage We all want to be part of the conversation so sometimes that could lead to feeling left out or engaging too much. - Not the goto method for comapnies In my case it has always been just used as a side channel for communication so it doesn't really bring much to the table besides active informing.

### "One of the Best Tools for Communication! "

August 1, 2018

5.0

Pros

I owned a company that had quite a few people working for us that were overseas and communication was key. We started using slack and it greatly improved productivity, communication, and clarity. It was very simple to learn and use for everyone in the company. It is essentially a productivity social network for a business. You can pin important announcements and topics to the top for everyone to see. Anybody can tag anybody or a group of people in the discussion. When you tag someone you know they will receive the message because they will get a notification they have been tagged. We set up multiple channels for all of the departments such as marketing, development, management etc. Having multiple channels is convenient for everyone so that they only see relevant information. You can archive all of the channels or particular channels for your internal records. The search feature is nice if you ever need to go back to see what was said previous. Slack integrates to almost any other software as well. We had ours integrated to Dropbox and Trello. If you use any other mainstream software then there is a high likeliness that slack integrates with it. The app for Slack works with IOS or Android. The app works flawlessly when we used it and it was very useful. I used the app almost more than I did the desktop client. Whenever someone tags you or pins something then you will get a notification on the app. You can also change app notification settings.

Cons

The only drawback I have found with Slack is the video chat feature. It may have improved since I last used this feature but it seems to have some bugs. It would drop calls or the quality would be poor. We ended up having to use Zoom or Google hangout for the video chat. However, it is convenient within the video chat you can screen share.

### "Slack Review "

September 1, 2022

4.0

Slack has been a go-to team meeting and chat platform at different positions and also during communal club spaces for organizations, such as the graphic design organization AIGA, which I frequent within my local design community. I haven't had any major issues with it thus far ans can easily recommend it. Being a business-focused chat space it also does not have silly loading messages like Discord which I've also used and which also worked well, but felt a bit unprofessional at times.

Pros

Slack is an easy to navigate, light on hardware platform to facilitate teamwork. You won't need a top of the line computer to run it so even in remote work conditions you will reliably have it available. There are not excessive features to get lost in or particular issues finding your team meetings constantly, a code to the overall Slack channel is sufficent. As opposed to other productsused for video conferences such as Zoom, everything is built in on Slack for "one stop shopping" using the program. It allows for image uploads and other useful tools such as split channels for specific tasks like designating a set of crew members to a task in a server,

Cons

The user interface is readable but slightly bland with the entire white color scheme. It's not strictly necessary but it can be difficult to only look at that color scheme for when you use it, other programs like Discord have variability.

Time went on and companies have adapted to using other software like Slack instead of ones like Skype, as an example, in my experience.
