### "Excellent Team Communication Program"

July 12, 2019

5.0

Being in Marketing, my team and I have to send many large design files on a daily basis. During a review process of one project, we may send up to 20 files back and forth. We found that sending via email was clogging up our limited email space very quickly and it also became difficult to go through an email thread to make sure you have all the notes from different team members. So, we began searching for a communication platform that would not only allow us to send large files, but one that could also make communication easier. We have found that with Slack! We started using Slack just over five years ago and we never looked back! The file-sharing capabilities are phenomenal. Whether you are using the desktop app, online version or mobile app, files and attachments are easily downloaded or you can view them directly in Slack. With many of our team members working remotely, Slack has also made communication and collaboration on projects much easier. By creating different channels, we have been able to single in on specific projects. That way, communication is not lost in a long email thread. Furthermore, the search capabilities within Slack make it simple to go back in a conversation and find any past content. Slack also allows us to one-off each other, when we need a more private conversation or a direct comment needs to be made. We are also enjoying the notification and status settings. All of us on our Marketing team would highly recommend using Slack!

Pros

Hands down, the best feature about Slack is its file-sharing capabilities. It has made our jobs easier as a Marketing team to have this in a communication platform, especially since we need to send many files on a day-to-day basis. With many of us working from home or out of the office, having a centralized communication platform where we can communicate on projects, while file-sharing, is essential. It has kept us all out of "email jail" and has streamlined our review processes and turnaround times for meeting crucial deadlines.

Cons

There is very little I dislike about Slack, but I would say that the "Threads" communication portion of Slack could be developed a bit better. With this feature, someone can reply directly to a specific comment rather than in the full channel. The only issue with this is that the thread pops up on the right side of the screen, rather than directly below the original comment. Sometimes, this can be confusing and the notifications for Threads can sometimes be overlooked. If Slack were able to open the Thread directly under the original comment/post, that would make communication and notifications less confusing.

Reason for choosing Slack

In the end, Slacks easy-to-use layout was what sold us on the product! Setup and use was intuitive and needed little guidance or training. Also, the free trial allowed us time to really get into the product and test it before we purchased the plan. Of all the products we looked at, Slack was the best value for the price offered. It also offered the best options for team collaboration and file-sharing, which was what we were specifically looking for in a program.

### "Slack is the best for team talk and collaboration!"

August 13, 2022

5.0

Overall, Slack continues to amaze me by being versatile and interfacing with other sites. Great tool for team collaboration, communication and project management.

Pros

I like that my team is able to communicate in our own channel, and then join everyone in the department in the other channels. I appreciate sharing files, videos, and the Sharepoint feature that allows me to share posts in LinkedIn, Youtube, udemy, Guru99, etc.

Cons

Difficult to remember points covered on a particular day. Would be helpful to have a search option so I can input the topics covered for that day, then be able to search for those topics later on

### "Workstation of my Business"

September 13, 2021

5.0

Slack is much more a workstation than that of an original one. I am very much dependent on it during this time of work from home. It facilitates my team management, workflow management, communication, activity tracking, and document management.

Pros

I mostly like its overall interface, integration with other apps, and flawless 2FA with Google authentication.

Cons

The least likable things about Slack are its video conferencing and annoying bot.

### "Convenient & Collaborative messaging tool"

August 11, 2022

5.0

It's great! Super convenient, efficient, powerful, and a great way to collaborate with colleagues around the globe, if you are a global company. Slack is rich with features and I probably do not even use a fraction of what they offer.

Pros

This tool is super helpful! It allows you to be able to send messages quickly and efficiently to your team across the globe in a matter of seconds. The ability to share files, send GIFs, schedule messages to be sent, etc. just makes the tool such a great asset to your communication needs.

Cons

The screen sharing function on Slack seems a bit buggy and laggy. It could be better and if there was an easier and more appealing visual aspect of screen sharing I would probably use it more. However, I just use the zoom link shortcut and Slack if I need to screen share something with a colleague.

### "Great communication tool"

December 1, 2020

5.0

We have loved it. It has become the primary (almost exclusive) means of intra-department communication for our IT team.

Pros

I love pretty much everything about Slack. I love the ability to easily create new private and public channels; the ability to create conversation threads; the ability to pin comments; the huge selection of app integrations; the customizable Slackbot responses (we have had a lot of fun with this one); dark mode; the ability to quickly and easily share files with other members of the Slack workspace; the awesome Slack call feature; the ability to quickly access multiple Slack workspaces by adding them to the left sidebar; the native rich-text editor for enriching comments (including the code block option, which has been hugely useful for us); and the ease of management. We have found Slack to be a tremendously useful communication and collaboration tool for our organization.

Cons

I don't have a lot of complaints about Slack. One small annoyance is the truncated "Direct messages" list on the left side. This list displays team members to whom you have recently sent a direct message. However, it would be more useful if it was just a scrolling list of ALL team members (alphabetized), maybe even with a quick search box at the top, so you could quickly send a direct message to anyone on the team, and not just those with whom you have had a recent direct message conversation. That's really it in terms of cons. It is a great tool that has become indispensable for us.

Alternatives considered

Reason for choosing Slack

It just seemed to be a much more robust solution, with a vast set of features that we love, such as the ability to tie into other applications we use. Also, the interface is much more intuitive, and communication feels more efficient.

### "Outil de communication incontournable pour les équipes"

February 23, 2023

5.0

Pros

### "Best collaboration tool to use between your teams"

April 3, 2023

5.0

Before being compelled to work from home in a distributed and asynchronous environment, I didn't fully appreciate the quality of Slack. However, when faced with the challenge of working remotely (and juggling kids' schooling from home), Slack has proven to be a valuable upgrade from traditional emails and other online collaborative tools. With Slack, I have access to a one-stop-shop that allows me to receive notifications for Google Doc edits and respond to them directly from the platform, saving me a significant amount of time.

Pros

Slack offers a straightforward and effective interface for inter-team communication, elevating communication beyond emails and Facebook messages through a secure platform that caters to teams. Among Slack's standout features are its channel setup, which enables the creation of focused spaces centered on specific topics, and the ability to reply to individual messages within a thread. Channels help maintain my team's focus and keep them on track, while also providing a casual space for informal conversations (via our "Random" channel). Meanwhile, threads help prevent channels from becoming an overwhelming, jumbled mess. Additionally, Slack's ability to react to messages with emojis, share messages with specific individuals, create private or public channels, and send group messages to team members creates an environment that encourages collaboration and communication in a way that feels organic and intuitive. In summary, Slack's platform provides an uncomplicated, natural space for teams to work together and communicate effectively, replacing traditional text threads, Facebook messages, and emails.

Cons

While Slack provides a centralized tool for online collaborative work, the learning curve can be somewhat challenging due to the non-intuitive nature of shortcuts and integrations. Additionally, subscribing to multiple Slack channels can be overwhelming and result in an excess of notifications that may prove distracting. However, this is the trade-off of having a singular platform for all collaborative work.

### "SLACK : Ease of communication for remote workers."

April 16, 2023

5.0

Overall experience is very good with slack, all the features are well thought for. It is a boom for remote workers like me with file sharing , 1 click calls , screenshare features. The improvement that can be done is giving a record option for calls. Sometimes knowledge transfer sessions have to be recorded for future references.

Pros

Slack call is the feature which I like the most about slack. We don't need to schedule it like in google meetings we have send an invite. Here if we want to connect with people who are online that particular time we can just connect with then. It's a time saver.

Cons

The calls with multiple attendees is very difficult to start and also we can't hide our background. Sometimes while working from home we don't want to show our house so that feature can be improved. Also there is no way to record the slack calls.

### "Slack Review"

August 11, 2022

5.0

I think Slack is great and it's a lot more useful than using Gmail. A lot of new employees enjoy using Slack because it is so similar to Discord so the learning curve for Slack feels very small.

Pros

I love that it's both for desktop and mobile. I can stay up to date with everything that happens in my organization on the go views files, reply to messages, etc.

Cons

Notifications for Slack can either be the best or the worst. Sometimes I'll have my manager send me an urgent message but Slack won't notify me. The desktop version of Slack is slower than the mobile app so I don't use it as much as I would like.

### ""Slack" One of the best business communication platform"

September 9, 2021

5.0

My Overall experience with Slack is outstanding. I never encountered any issue while using it for my business and personal usage. I use Slack daily to communicate with my teammates and colleagues, I do lots of video calls and file-sharing at the same time. And I love that Slack has integrated so many 3rd party software like google drive, one drive for file sharing to make it even more simple. It's also very easy to create different workspaces for different departments and also can create different chat groups according to our needs. All I can say is Slack has all the features that I look for in Business communication software and I love to use it.

Pros

Slack is now a part of my daily life, I have been using it for years now. The best thing I like about Slack is how well optimized it is and its very nicely designed UI. It makes everything very organized. Slack lets us create different chat groups for different topics and departments which is very useful for me as I have to deal with lots of groups at the same time. I can manage people and groups very easily and effectively in Slack. Also lots of customization options like adding external people or mute notifications for a certain time. I Love Slack.

Cons

Although Slack is one my favorite software when comes to online communication with teammates or group of people. But surely it needs some optimization for mobile versions sometimes video conference gets bit laggy. And I wish they add something like Trello to keep track of our ongoing projects so we don't have to move between several platforms. Overall Slack is a good Business Communication Software.

### "The perfect app for real-time communication among your team members."

October 13, 2022

5.0

My overall experience with Slack has been pretty awesome. The integrations and mobile access make this app really unique and desirable for productive and effective workplace communication among your team members.

Pros

The search filters, audio calls, and scheduled messaging features are the standout capabilities that make this app really robust. As a remote working employee, it really helps me to stay updated with discussions and not miss out on information.

Cons

The messages older than 90 days are automatically removed from the chat. It is the only thing that I disliked as it becomes difficult to find out a particular message from the old period.

### "Communication + Collaboration Unified"

October 19, 2021

5.0

It has been an absolute joy and has made working from home tolerable

Pros

If you are working from home or working remotely, Slack is an absolute lifesaver. (Even if you are working from office, it still is a lifesaver) Several communication channels (calls, huddles, chat), tight integrations with a number of platforms, and useful features that makes managing of the Slack workspace a breeze make it an easy recommendation for anyone or any organization.

Cons

10000 message history for the free tier might be a bit low for people/groups who message constantly, so a higher limit might drive more people to join in as they wouldn't want to loose those messages after using Slack for a significant amount of time.

### "Slack is excellent and I think it should be used by every business"

June 11, 2022

5.0

Mostly for quick and efficient communication across teams and with colleagues in other countries. I also use it frequently for managing access to my Google Drive, for managing cross-team projects through Google Drive, for tracking Jira tickets and updates and much more. We use it for team meetings, sharing each other's screens when required. We also use it for cross-team discussion about issues and to create a history of previous issues and collaboration that is easy to check.

Pros

So many things: firstly, how quick and easy it is to communicate across teams and countries within my organisation. It is so much faster than sending an email and so much easier to attach documents, manage document access, and more. It's really quick to search for a specific issue across slack channels. It's great to be able to make new channels about specific issues and to be able to tag colleagues in those channels. It's really well-integrated into my google drive which makes my life so much easier. I like that you can grant access to a document simply by posting a link to it in a channel, rather than manually granting everyone access. I like being able to send myself messages as reminders. I like being able to call people through it. I like being able to reply in thread. It creates a great and easy-to-access record of all sorts of issues and collaborations, in a way that is far more streamlined than through email. I like being able to add colleagues to channels when required. It is great for managing Jira tickets. I also like being able to quote messages. Slack is brilliant!

Cons

Just some small things: it would be nice to get a proper notification when something is posted in select channels. Currently I only get notified if I'm tagged in a message in a channel, and when I'm working it's difficult to constantly keep an eye on the channels to see if there's an important message that I haven't been tagged in. I also find it annoying that if I make a group chat, all previous messages disappear if I add someone new. When I message myself for notes, I find it frustrating that the messages aren't more clearly separated - it becomes quite a mess in there. I would like to get a notification every time someone posts in a thread I've posted in - this doesn't seem to always happen. Finally, I would like the emojis to be easier to type, rather than having to open up the emojis every time I want to add one, it would be nice if it were easier to add two at once.

### "The Best Communication Tool for Business & Also Easily Misused at an Organizational Level"

November 5, 2022

4.0

Ultimately, I gave up Slack in my own organization and only use it when clients add me to their accounts. The ability to have task-related conversions in Asana is initially where I migrated my team off of Slack.

Pros

I love the immediacy of the tool. The ability to hash out a conversation entirely online, grouped by subject matter with the exact amount of people you need to be involved on a team. The price is a dream since there is full functionality with a free account as long as you don't need access to older files. When the Slack interface is set up well for an organization, it makes department-wide communication effortless.

Cons

Since each user tends to have different communication styles, organizations that don't create frameworks and guidelines around how their organization uses the tool devolve into chaos. I've had clients who have a beautifully streamlined tool that functions in a way that serves their business and other clients who have let the tool become a complete distraction to their workflows.

### "Slack is the best for fast conversation with the perfect sound quality."

August 19, 2019

The audio and video calls quality is always perfect and awesome. It always provide the great options to share screen and important information, data and documents in a instant manner. Overall, Slack is the most intuitive and perfect for business meeting. Hence, this software provide the best video calling with the perfect sound quality. The another thing that I most like about this software is that we can easily chat with the audio and video calls in a more efficient way. This software is the best source of communication because here are chatting opportunity is always free and reliable. Through the Slack software, it is so easy to connect myself to anyone and at anytime in the world.

Pros

Slack software is very easy to use and cloud sharing is too amazing of this software. Slack software is great for the audio and the video calls. The most favorite thing about this software is that it has the superb features with the great ability. I can also share the important information with anyone in a more efficient way. The another benefit thing about this software that provide us is that it is the best for the fast conversation with our friends and colleagues. I would recommended this software because Slack software is highly productive with the lots of good tool and features. For us, it is the best communication and the great video calling software. It really helps me in a ll of my business meetings. Moreover, it always provide the great customer services for its users. We can always handle all of our conversation in a group video chat in a best manner.

Cons

The great disadvantage of this software is that sometimes with any internet connection, it makes our communication so difficult and harder. Moreover, there are some features that are missing in the Slack software. So it should must enhanced the quality of its features. The another problem that we faced is that sometimes we cannot fast conversation in a group video chat, because of some internet problems. For the new users, it is so difficult of us to use it more properly. Otherwise, it provide the great conversation for the audio and the video calls.

### "Slack Must Be the Most Useful Communication Tool of the Modern Era!"

April 14, 2019

5.0

Slack has allowed me to improve work relationships and provided a bridge to access different organizations in the same place, from freelance to more traditional enterprises. It has also been extremely helpful to communicate with fellow students at one university, as this is the chosen tool for all generic communications. Because it makes it easy to share code, images and videos either directly on the platform or through third-party services like Google Drive and Dropbox, it has enabled our teams to work more effectively and gather resources in one central spot. And because the search function is quick and offers different filters to narrow down the results to specific channels or members, it's easy to find what you are looking for. It has worked incredibly well for groups of hundreds of people connected at once with perfect synchronicity. Having the ability to stay updated on the fly thanks to the mobile application is also a great advantage that comes in handy more than once.

Pros

I really enjoy how flexible Slack allows you to be by creating any number of channels you may need to break down conversations per topic. Beyond having the ability to create and join channels based on your needs, the feature to star items is particularly helpful when you are on the go and want to come back to a specific point in time quickly. It is easily accessible with just one click (or tap on mobile) and makes it easy to remember key conversations that are happening. Slack also integrates brilliantly public conversations and what's called "direct messages", enabling you to have private conversations with any member within the organization, hence avoiding the need to use an additional platform for this specific purpose. There is also a neat and practical solution brought by Slack apps, which add even more features including the ability to share polls with Polly, integrate with GitHub, share files stored on Google Drive and Dropbox, which are the apps that we use the most. Being able to control notifications precisely, automatically snoozing them when you are unavailable, makes for a more peaceful experience when dealing with hundreds of members. There are also other features that make you life better, such as the many keyboard shortcuts and the built-in commands you can fire up directly from the reply area, including formatting options and interactions with Slack apps.

Cons

On the down side, I have found it somewhat confusing to get to set up Slack within other services through their API, for instance to connect Slack on GitHub. Although the reply area is feature-rich, some functions like text formatting could be more intuitive. For example, you don't get to see live if your text will be bold or italic. Slackbot is useful to ask simple questions, but many times it will provide answers that are too simple and could easily be improved. Once again on formatting, Slackbot doesn't explain how to format "code" snippets in-line or even on multiple lines. Many hidden features can only be found by looking online in the "Help Center" or by trial and error, which is not as practical as being able to ask questions directly to Slackbot which should be able to handle those requests. I have also found the desktop application to simply be an exact replica of the web application. Apart from the fact that it adds a little Slack icon in the notification bar, I find it even less intuitive to use than the web application, as it requires to open a new tab in the web browser to sign in. By not being completely independent from a web browser, it basically just results in having a separate web browser that can only handle one tab, which makes it rather inconvenient, especially considering that notifications are well integrated in the web version and that you can "pin" tabs in most web browsers to keep Slack one single click or keyboard shortcut away.

### "Slack is one of those products that has no direct competitor because they're so good"

September 23, 2021

5.0

I've used Slack in multiple arenas--as an employee of a young startup, a researcher at a large academic institution, and as a member of student clubs/organizations. In each of these environments, Slack was a terrific way to collaborate with my team. We considered Microsoft Teams and other similar environments, but Slack was always the clear choice.

Pros

The things I love about slack: single sign-on for multiple workspaces, the 'magic link' to sign in with your email, the custom animated emojis (this seems silly but it's become a hallmark of one of my slack workspaces and my team enjoys them!), the ease of creating a new workspace and adding channels/teams, and the way we can quickly share files. I don't use many of the integrations in Slack but from what I've seen in workspaces that aren't managed by me, they work seamlessly and effectively.

Cons

I mentioned this elsewhere as well, but there are some issues with real-time synchronization; if I get an alert on my computer and open it, there is still a popup number on all my other devices that remains until I physically open slack on each device. This isn't a huge issue but it is very irritating when you constantly have a notification on the app.

### "Effective for Team Communication "

September 3, 2021

4.0

Phenomenal is the right word to describe my overall experience with Slack. The team behind Slack has put in great effort to make it an effective communication tool. I love using it every day and communicate with my team members without any trouble.

Pros

Slack has taken the world of instant messaging by storm. It is not only good for messaging but equally impressive when it comes to audio/video calls, file sharing, and effective team communication. In all reality, it is a complete package. I love the user-friendly interface and its easy deployment. It allows the creation of different channels for different teams and workspaces. You can integrate third-party applications such as Google Drive and Dropbox. For file-sharing, I like the drag and drop feature. I also enjoy using Slack on the phone. The mobile version works just as good as the desktop version.

Cons

Well, you have to excuse me for this as I have not come across any major cons while using Slack. All the things that I wanted to do, Slack proved to be quite capable of doing them. So, I would say it makes me happy.

### "Great software that adds efficiency and colors to your workplace communication"

October 26, 2022

5.0

I have been using Slack for workplace communications for 3 years at different companies. It has been an excellent communication tool and has very few defects. It is becoming a tool that is widely adopted across different companies. It almost feels like you are missing out if you are not using Slack already

Pros

Slack is very easy to use and consists of a lot of useful features. I rarely ran into any bugs that disrupt my workplace communication. The design of its features show that they care about users' private time offline (e.g. separate notification settings for mobile app). Integrations with other softwares are superb (e.g. Google Calendar, Github, OpsGenie), making almost all necessary communication to be centralized in one place. The fact that you can create a channel easily also helps when dealing with new incidents that need spinning up a new channel quickly. The UI is very easy to navigate around (both mobile and desktop). The feature

Cons

UI and file downloads could be unresponsive when a machine's memory usage is high. It would be great if feedback and advice can be shown in-app when that happens

September 17, 2021

As moving from a previous communicator to slack it was amazing , a thrilling experience that 2hat all can be done from one single tool inspite of spending much on others . The tool also integrates with variety of tools.

Pros

The in call feature as you don't have to rush to any other tool for audio calling . While you are on audio call you can start sharing your screen document , availability of markers and highlighters to make it easy to understand to the other team.

Cons

Some time the software hangs up and would need a cache clear mandation to be done . Only this is the gap which I have identified else its a seamless experience

### "New Age Communication Tool "

May 15, 2022

4.0

Good, good, gooood. Thanks to Slack that enabled us to improve our communication and achieve our set goals. Instead of email, we communicate through Slack and it gets a better result.

Pros

I like the cool features and amazing functionality of Slack. It makes file sharing, meetings, and team collaboration so easy that anybody can do it without putting much effort. Since we started using Slack, we have shifted almost all of our daily communication to this one-in-solution. Our team members always get in touch with each other using the real-time chat feature. We have created different channels for different teams that helps us manage the work in a more organized way. File sharing is a big part of our work routine and Slack does it professionally. Integration with other applications such as Google Drive and Dropbox is another added feature. I have the PC version and also installed the phone application that helps me keep in contact with the team so effortlessly.

Cons

The contacts tab design can use some improvement. It's all cramped up. The drop-down arrows with the channel sometimes hide the contacts and that really annoys me. I wish there was a different user interface with more ease of use.

We have used Skype for many many years but there were quite a few issues. Video lags and voice instability and a whole lot of other problems. Can you hear me - can you hear me??? that's what I fondly remember from the days of Skype. Nonetheless, life's at peace since we adopted Slack.

### "Great tool for official Communication"

September 16, 2021

5.0

My experience with slack is fabulous and I am looking forward to see a new updates on slack.

Pros

I can send a direct message to my teammates & supervisors and can see if they are currently active on slack or not. Audio call feature is also helpful. It is like you will get everything in a single platform which you need for a daily official routine. I do not need to use multiple platforms for different tasks. I enjoy sending multiple reactions to the messages also. It feels lively.

Cons

I am hoping that team slack will come up with a update soon that sender can see that other person has seen their message on slack.

### "Best software to communicate and share documents with your team members."

October 8, 2021

5.0

We widely use it to communicate with our team members and set few important reminders for the team. The search feature to search any previous message is of great help.

Pros

It's one of the best tool to communicate with your team members and you can easily share any documents too. The feature to set a custom reminder to a team is also very useful. We can create and collaborate with multiple teams as per our requirements. The search feature enables to find any previous message. The mobile application is also very user-friendly.

Cons

There is nothing that I dislike about Slack.
