### "Innovative Tool for Team Building!"

October 9, 2021

5.0

Overall I really enjoy slack! I prefer the desktop version over the web version. The desktop version allows quicker access! Also the direct message feature is important feature in slack that I use. Often at times sensitive message have to be share with an individual rather than the group. Also the emoji's are plentiful selection! I love the mass variety and options available!

Pros

The greatest thing I like about slack is the ability to create different channels to assist on different topics , groups, and teams within the organization! I also like the accessibility features! You can access Slack from virtually any device! I travel a lot and this feature is extremely important!

Cons

The software features can take some time to get use to if you have no computer experience. For me my biggest challenge was learning on how to use the alerts and notification features within the program. But in fairness I was able to grasp everything within a few days. So not that long at all.

### "Best Team Communication Tool on the Market"

September 18, 2021

5.0

Fantastic, smooth and enjoyable - Slack is a powerful team communication tool with integrations to expand its reach and gather all of your notifications in one place!

Pros

Easy to use direct message, comment threading and channel topic separation - the ultimate communication tool that will help your organisation scale online at speed. It's fun to use, full of GIF and Emoji related acknowledgement styles - bringing communication into the 21st century.

Cons

It can take a while to learn how to automate your functions, short cuts and features (reminders etc) - this could be sped up with better training and a clearer user experience.

### "Slack - A Daily Necessity for Our Team"

August 22, 2022

5.0

Overall, Slack is a great tool with numerous useful features. As one of the top tools used by our entire team, I would highly recommend this product, especially for remote workers.

Pros

Our team uses Slack for most of our internal communication. Slack is used by everyone all throughout every work day. We use it for text communication, file sharing, and to indicate status (lunch, vacation, etc). One of the best features is the option for channels. Channels can be set to private or public and users can add themselves (if public) or can be added by other people. This option is great for specific projects or when you want to keep a cleaner interface instead of creating a group chat with several users, especially for ongoing projects or teams. Another great features is the ability to save messages or files within our personal slack or pin messages or files within a chat for all to access more easily at a later time.

Cons

When using the free version, you are limited to certain features. You lose access to messages and files after a certain point (there is a 5GB file limit and messages typically disappear after a week) so you will lose conversations unless you save or pin. The huddle feature is great but you can only huddle with one other person on the free version. Since the paid version is charged at per person per month, the cost can get very expensive when you have multiple users. I would rather see a monthly payment that includes a number of users instead of paying per person.

### "Easy to use, difficult to customize"

October 30, 2019

4.0

Overall, we are very happy with this app. Considering you don't need to pay anything for it it's a great tool if you are coordinating a creative team and want to keep track of all the creative new ideas and comments from every member of the team. I wished it could be customized so it could be more visually appealing and notifications would be a bit more specific (at the moment you only know if someone has posted anything new by seeing a red dot over the Slack icon) but in general it's and excellent app to grant good communication between employees.

Pros

We really like how easy it is for everyone to use. It really helps to keep all ideas and feedback from clients together in one chat group. It's also great that you can have as many chat groups as you want , we don't only use it for work projects, we also have chats with inspiration boards or references. It's also great to have a place where you can keep all the media assets saved together in one conversation. You can save images, audio and video all together which is really useful when a project is quickly being developed. An other great feature is that you can link it to other apps and get notifications through it. We have it linked to Google Calendar so we can get updates on events and meetings.

Cons

Notifications are not very specific, at least when using from a computer. Setting up a new workspace can be a bit confusing as it requires you to log in again as if you were creating a new account. Luckily Slack's support team are always willing to help. You can't use capital letters (or spaces) when naming a new chat. I'm not sure why this is but I wish it changed. When you pin a comment on a chat group that comment doesn't really stay on the top or the chat or somewhere where you can always see it. This would be very helpful as at the moment that option only helps you to highlight the comment.

### "This App doesn't Slack"

August 24, 2022

5.0

Slack presented me with a simple solution to the communications challenges that come with project and office management. I started using it initially to manage an office, while in my early years of running a small office. We could streamline communications, tag persons who needed to get into a conversation, and we used their threading features to ensure that we could manage different conversations, all at once. That beat the use of Blackberry Messenger which we had been using earlier. When Whatsapp came on the scene, and people suggested we use that, it beat it by far as well. Slack was the best at keeping us on track, and it eventually allowed us to search channels which meant that we could now go back to previous discussions to help to keep track of things. Those two features sold me on the platform. I'll admit, when Microsoft 365 launched Teams, I ventured away from the hallowed halls of Slack, much to the chagrin of many. The thing is, I've passed the stage when I could stomach moving from platform to platform, login to login, bill to bill to assemble the best combination of everything. That aside, one needs to acknowledge that the Microsoft apps aren't the best in most of their fields (except Office), but they are pretty good. In this area, Slack is the best. They may have named it Slack, but they do not Slack at all.

Pros

Slack is best-in class for project communications, and keeping your communications on course. They innovated in creating the platform, and while others may do well with one part or the other, they are the real macoy. All others are just trying to copy them.

Cons

While their api opens Slack up to combine with other platforms, I really wish they had more native features.

### "Slack the best team communication software ever"

September 26, 2019

5.0

We use slack in our office as the main communication app. We can connect with our overseas clients through slack so easily. As we can share rich media, we have everything in a single thread. And we have the ability to reply to the each message in the thread. Also we can delete unwanted messages. The best thing is we have set reminders for important tasks. So the overall experience is really nice and I am thankful to the slack developers.

Pros

We can create channels for separate projects and same time me can send direct messages for each other company members. We can share texts, images, videos, audios, gif files and any rich media with others We can set reminders for our work and slack bit is going to remind us our work We can integrate other software like Skype, Hangouts,Gmail and many applications to slack, so that we can receive all the notifications through slack. We have search options, so that we can search for previous texts we sent someone or in a certain channel. Also there is an option to switch the do not disturb mode on. In that time we are not getting notifications. We can easily use the web, desktop and mobile application so we can access chat via any device. Considering all the matters I love this app.

Cons

I experienced some issues while getting voice calls. Also it saves a limited number of lines in each chat thread. So we can not reference our earliest messages in threads. These are the only issues I have experienced. But these are not that strong reasons to not to use this app.

Alternatives considered

[Workplace from Meta](https://www.capterra.com/p/168669/Workplace/)[Google Meet](https://www.capterra.com/p/176572/Google-Hangouts/)

Reason for choosing Slack

Slack is a combination of all of these products. Also for office communication this suits the most as the target market of the other applications are not the office people. We use workplace for highly technical project management tasks. Skype and Hangouts are embeddable for slack. So for an office , we thought the best option is Slack.

### "General Ideas for Improvements"

July 27, 2021

5.0

It is one of the best apps for collaboration despite those cons I mentioned above.

Pros

I like that it's always working for me and my team and is a convenient app for collaboration.

Cons

Does not support multiline code snippets: \` x =1 y=2 \` I have to be redirected to the browser to manage my apps. I wish it can be done right from the desktop app. I wish video conferencing can stop lagging so much when my network traffic is at a peak with other developers working. I wish it can at least warn me.

### "The Best Communication App For Remote Work"

October 6, 2022

Pros

I love Slack and how easy it has made communication for me and my team. Slack’s interface, customization options, conveniency and overall ease of use have made it my go-to application for messaging.

Cons

My only piece of feedback for Slack is that I wish I would revive louder notifications for replies in message threads. I’ve not noticed any audible cues for this feature and only notice replies if I am directly tagged them.

### "Only way to communicate in all workplaces"

October 14, 2021

5.0

I used Slack from the free version and now business version that our company purchased. The free version is a great way to experience the software - how easy it makes your life once you start using it. We convinced our company to purchase it after awhile realizing that the free version only lets you search up to certain days and we wanted to retain all of our conversations and files because this was important - we did not want to lose the conversations and the files.. also we were having more and more important conversations on here as we went remote - this also became a way for us to communicate and sometimes even brainstorm. Start using the free version and you will immediately see the need to pay for the service.

Pros

Our company uses Slack for multi locations including global offices in EU and Asia and we love it. This is the best way to connect with someone by a group or a specific individual at any time. This syncs flawlessly across all of your devices instantly which is a big plus. You will never have to worry about being stay on top of the things.

Cons

I don't really have anything negative to say about Slack. I really like everything from the design to notifications to other apps that you can integrate.

### "I Was Skeptical, but Now I'm a Convert"

October 4, 2022

5.0

Originally, I was a skeptic of Slack. I thought, 'why not just use Skype, it's essentially the same thing,' but after using it for a few years, I quite enjoy breaking chats out into their own channels and having a specific application only for work conversations. I wouldn't go back now.

Pros

Slack does pretty much everything you'd want a chat program to do. We're using it for all our office communications now and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Cons

As I've mentioned previously, sometimes I just won't receive notifications for some reason. This can be really frustrating because I can miss something important. These events are few and far between though and I still think the good of Slack outweighs the bad.

### "Slack- Your Best Friend"

December 29, 2018

5.0

Overall, this is a great way to communicate in a work place for all sizes. If you are a new business and want to test this out I would highly recommend doing so. I know several organizations that use slack and I have never heard a negative review about this software.

Pros

This is a great and easy way to communicate with staff and employees, especially if this a remote company or you have workers or work remotely. You can set up different channels to keep conversations organized, which also allows you to customize who can see each channel. There is a great new feature that allows you to be invited into another company's slack channel, which is very helpful if you work with different organizations. (this feature only works if both companies have the paid version) Another pro is that you can share anything through slack such as files, videos, pictures, zip-files, etc. This is a fast and effective way I communicate with our web designer by sharing photos, videos, urls, files, and more. The best feature is the app. I download it onto my Iphone and don't miss a thing. It also will notify you if you want to when a new message is posted. The app is so easy to use and functions just as well as the desktop version.

Cons

One con of this software is that if you have the free version you only have a limited amount of storage. If you do not send a lot of files and documents than this version should be fine. You can delete files if it gets close to reaching the storage maximum, but if you use this on a daily basis I would recommend buying the premium version. This gives you unlimited storage and space. Also, I wish that new feature of adding other companies to different channels externally worked on all slack versions, not just the paid version. This is a great feature that everyone would love to use.

### ""Slack: The Ultimate Communication Tool for Work Teams""

March 22, 2023

5.0

One of the key benefits of Slack is its ability to streamline communication across teams. You can create channels for specific projects, departments or anything else that might require its own space to organize and share information. The instant messaging feature also ensures that you can always stay connected with your team members in real-time, regardless of your location. Another great feature of Slack is its integration with other software applications. You can easily integrate Dropbox, Google Drive, Trello, and so many other useful applications to further enhance productivity.

Pros

Slack’s real-time messaging feature is something that sets it apart from other team communication tools. It allows users to communicate quickly and efficiently with teammates, no matter where they are located in the world. The ability to create channels for specific topics, departments, or projects is also incredibly useful. Customer service for Slack is also excellent. The support team is responsive and helpful and goes above and beyond to ensure any issues are resolved quickly.

Cons

Slack is not user-friendly for everyone. It can be confusing and difficult to navigate, especially for people who do not use it every day. Sometimes, you might struggle to find a specific message or chat thread, resulting in wastage of time.

### "Slack for all in one communication"

October 12, 2022

Communication and document sharing between customers and team members has been the best use of Slack.

Pros

Slack is great for team communication and the ability to open channels specific to a topic or people. It is great for sharing documents and knowing when team members are online when working in multiple time zones.

Cons

The biggest downfall is that communication can get lost in the trail of comments. It would be great to have a task ability or a way to create follow-ups. We use other project management software and joke that "Slack is where tasks go to die. It is a communication tool, not a project mgmt tool.

### "Really Love Slack, Great Way to Communicate with Multiple Clients"

June 23, 2020

5.0

Mainly we are using it to solve issues with communicating across different companies and their contractors, not only streamlining conversations but bringing transparency to the messages so everyone can easily see what was sent, communicated, and when.

Pros

I have to admit I can be one of those cranky older IT guys that sit in the back corner and groans every time I hear of a new technology that is going to revolutionize things. When I first heard of Slack I figured it was more of the same and didn't use it for years. Finally one of my clients required that we communicate over and I honestly love it. The integration from the App to the browser-based version is seamless. I like how I can communicate with different Orgs and have all their staff on Slack already in when I login so I can easily communicate with who I need to. Messages are saved and easy to search to find what I need later. Group communicate and individual messaging is fantastic and I have used the VoIP to call some of my contractors that my client's use through Slack directly. All in all it makes working with people virtually easier and I will definitely be using it in the future.

Cons

My least favorite thing about slack is having to log into each org every time I need to work inside Slack. I think for most users this isn't a big deal, especially if they are using it with just one workspace. Because I work with several companies, it is a bit of a pain. I have to log in for each org to see the workspace and the only way I can see messages from another org is to open a new tab and re-login using the org's credentials. I wish there was a way to have one master Slack login and then move in and out of the different companies I work with without having to log in and out all the time or use different web browsers or tabs.

Reason for choosing Slack

I honestly chose Slack because my largest client required that I use it to talk to their office staff. I have since started working with every org I can inside it because it is a very fast way to message someone and get quick messages back and forth fast.

### "Gold Standard for Messaging and Chat and Team Meeting"

It's part of our day-to-day life. When Slack is down, it feels like we're not connected and we had to go back to emails. Our company emails have been quiet since it has been cut down. Only important and big ones come through. Most of our questions and conversations are resolved within Slack.

Pros

It is lightweight and they have a good iOS app. This means you can be on the go and still get connected to your team. It is easy to find and create groups, channels, or even speaking 1:1.

Cons

### "Amazing tool for quick communications"

August 25, 2022

Amazing experience. Have been using it in my last 3 workplaces and will keep using / proposing when I will have the chance!

Pros

It's easy to set, it works smoothly, can be integrated with a number of API and third-party solutions, comes with Huddles (quick audio calls) and much more!

Cons

Actually there is nothing that I like least. The only thing that comes to my mind is that, sometimes, users use Slack messages instead of emails. Of course the two tools are very different - emails linger around, Slack messages come and go, but that is something related with the users' use of the tool, not with the tool itself :)

### "Slack revolutionized our workspace communication"

May 12, 2022

5.0

I needed some time to see the benefits of Slack, coming from an email-only workplace. I soon started to appreciate the benefit of the communication style Slack made possible, and I think it is hard to imagine achieving the same level of efficiency without Slack.

Pros

Slack is different from the communication and chat tools we used previously. With Slack, we could create channels for every part of the project and only add people who are stakeholders in the area. Communication in these channels is visible to all their members, making information sharing the default in team communication. Direct Messages are still possible for private or secret data transfer. This channel style is also quite useful when creating alerts and notifications. All people can see all Notifications in one place and may communicate about them in the "threads" of the message. Slack also introduced "Threads" to allow for sub-communication about any message in the channel in order not to block the flow of conversation in the channel.

Cons

It doesn't support RTL languages and sometimes uploading files takes a very long time.

### "It can Slack like the best. "

August 27, 2022

3.0

Besides having to reset the phone or clearing room out, the app works.

Pros

I am very happy with Slack as a DM service. The company I work with has their own channel and profile and we can send messages fairly easily. It has the Twitter and FB thing where you tag with @ and the person's name to reply to, tag or DM them - I find it super helpful. But having like 20+ people slos the server exponentially. I have a decent Moto Stylus. It doesn't do it all but has plenty of memory to operate; however I'm having to restart my phone or clear my cache almost every 3 days? I'm happy you can DM in a business environment instead of messenger though! And the one on the computer works ok not the best though.

Cons

To get the job done, it works. I just wish I could figure out why my notifications won't work with it. It is frustrating to lose a clean or even miss something from the bigger bosses!

### "PERFECT BRIDGE BETWEEN AGENCY AND WORKERS"

October 31, 2020

5.0

Slack qualifies to be the best collaboration tool of our generation with users navigating the app with quite a lot of ease. The experience at large is very positive and with such competitive prices, indeed there lies infinite potential with slack. It offers several intergrations iclusive of outlook and zoom among other essential plugins.

Pros

As a messenger app, the basic functions enabling communications are on a perfect edge with a simple, precise interface very easy to navigate. The search option comes in as a plus as you are able to trace your target messaage on a long thread with simple typing of words on the search bar. With slack, we are able to share files with quite a lot of ease and now with the IRC style, we can separate the conversation threads in the presence of multiple members in a team to set up off-topic discussions.

Cons

When sharing your screen with another team or individual, you have to go back to the initial chat to send a message, I would prefer this being done from the same UI of the screen-share. Also the limitation to the number of users attending a video conference does not confer with large organisations such as ours.

### "The best option for chat and communication "

September 3, 2022

5.0

This experience has been very satisfying with minor hiccups. Slack is the best option for chat and communication in a work environment. I'm the office manager for a law practice. I'm handling files that shouldn't be sent through unencrypted SMS or social media, clients won't be happy with us if the entire world finds out they've filed for bankruptcy. Slack is very similar to those, it's just better structured and more secure to use for work. It couldn't be more convenient or any easier. I open Slack and I literally have everything in front of me. Tap once or twice and I'm in the right discussion, another tap and I'm looking at my co-workers face to face.

Pros

Slack couldn't be easier to use, I had mastered everything in a few minutes. There are several levels of communication. The first is Slack as a whole, then channels or topics, comment threads inside the channels, and direct or private messages. Video conferences or Slack huddles couldn't be easier and they're started and kept within Slack. Audio and Video clips can be sent in place of holding a real time meeting and watched at any time. This is very secure.

Cons

If Slack isn't kept in check all of the channels can get overwhelming and hard to keep up with. I have to make sure unused channels get deleted or moved. I think the price is a bit ridiculous and the version you get for free is a huge step down from the Slack pro version. Slack pro is on sale frequently but the promotions usually only last 90 days and can only be used once. The other problem is the messages not being saved. We've all been really irritated with that at some point.

Pros

The best thing about slack is , it keeps you updated with the team collaboration with updated features where you can make your work done. Apart from that Slack gives you a status feataure to write about yourself for a line or 2 lines sentence. When you are communicating with someone then he/she can see your status sentence. You can edit or clear your status by clicking on your name to the top left sidebar. Another feature which I liked is when you slack messages are loading there is a random person's status is loaded infront of your screen so that You can get to know about his/her slack status. Before proceeding for collaboration with your team or person, slack provides its SlackBot to get started with Slack basics so that you can have proper idea to use slack. One more thing I liked is, slack gives you the notification feature for giving you updates regarding slack messages. You can send messages to yourself which will not be vanished from your slack account. This way you can keep important messages to your personal chatbox. If you send a piece of Code then it will convert automatically to that code format to understand easily.

Cons

Whenever your message is read by someone, then you will not know if that person has read your message or not. After sending messages to a person, and if a person has not read the message , and you delete the message then that person won't be able to know what message you have sent. After sometime (Appox : 10 days) , the slack conversaion gets deleted from your account unless you don't have subscribed. Voice Communication needs to be there in Slack. Also there are no calender and documents features in Slack. It uses more memory in Desktop. Task assignment is yet to be there.

Slack is intelligent tool with great features. It is highly recommended to business for easy communication. It can be a go to tool for daily activities and file sharing.

Pros

The tool can be integrated with several other tolls such as dropbox, shared drives and other platforms

Cons

The tool can be made more customisable and more cheaper, otherwise a great product to use.

### "Slack Review"

Overall I don't know how we would function without Slack. It is a key component of our company workflow and with all the integrations available with Slack, we're being more productive, seeing less in our inbox, and getting work done faster and efficiently. We will likely move up to the paid version soon, since there are additional function's we'd like to use (like accessing archived conversations and files). I would recommend Slack to everyone - I even use it personally in place of other messaging apps!

Pros

I love how easy Slack is to use. It's extremely user friendly with a familiar interface. If you ever used AIM (instant messenger) or iChat in the past, Slack will feel very similar. I also love that we can drag and drop to share large files in Slack. When working in a fast environment where things like presentations or creative need to be reviewed around quickly, but are too large to email, Slack is a really handy tool. Also, the ability to share code snippets without the formatting getting lost is huge while working with development teams. Excellent foresight by the Slack engineers to include this functionality. Finally, Slack bot responses! I was able to set up responses for lost passwords and logins for our team, as well as basics like team member phone numbers, or birthdays, so we aren't digging through address books and instead we can just quickly ask Slack for help. It's really great.

Cons

One thing that's actually really frustrating is not having control over deleting conversations. As with any direct messaging app, there's an expectation of privacy between those two people. However, it's really unclear if upper management can ever access these direct messages. As such, I know a number of people who had tried to mass-delete threads (in the event mgmt could read them) but it wasn't possible in the free version of Slack (and I'm unsure if it's even available in the paid version). There are third party apps to help delete comments, but it'll only do yours and not the entire thread. It would be helpful for employees to know exactly how private their direct messages are, and have the ability to delete content they want to. Also, being able to have the slack bot responses work in direct messages, and not just open channels, would be nice. Being in a playful environment, different groups have added various, secret, slack bot responses, but most of our communication happens in direct messages and not in the open channels. As such we lose out of this fun functionality.
