### "The Business Communication Tool of it's Time"

August 16, 2019

5.0

Honestly, this software just doesn't have competition at it's level and they have a stranglehold on this market, as they deserve. Between Spark, Skype, and Hangouts, they're really the Nickelodeon to Disney. Although they'll stick around, with the ability for them to add so many integration possibilities by not only their own development but other companies wanting to allow their own software's workflow to somehow run through Slacks platform. It's just a simple platform with so many functionalities and possibilities.

Pros

Availability. Simplicity. Instant transferability between devices. Customizability (yes, it's a word). One of my favorite pieces though is the ability to integrate so many other applications into and out of it. Get to that more in a moment...

Cons

This is petty but one of the largest issues I run into is when in the office and have Slack running on both my iPhone and my MacBook, sometimes I miss important, timely messages due to device priority. If the laptop screen is still open and I'm only a room or two over in another meeting, my phone will not receive the messages from the laptop until my screen times out and the rests.

Reason for choosing Slack

The overall span of functionality just trumps all other. As a software company, with the ability to run so many planning, tracking, and actual development applications through Slack, it allows for so much coordination and management directly from your office seat.

We made the overall switch from Google for Business to Office 365 and at that point it just made sense to look at tools outside of that ecosystem.

### "Best-of-Breed Messenger Platform"

October 11, 2020

5.0

Been using Slack and admin in Slack since 2015. It's gotten a lot better and they definitely list to customers and what we want to see.

Pros

\-UI is very easy to use for anyone to jump right in -Easy to navigate and admin -THE platform companies use to chat. Far better than GChat, Teams -Customizable to user -TONS of integrations -Shared channels with our clients or companies we are clients of. Easy to manage and end when contracts end.

Cons

\-Pricing. Definitely need the "Plus" license for HITRUST compliance and it's 2x more than a standard license. Paying twice as much just to have a feature we haven't used in over a year did not make the Finance team happy. Also need Plus to use onboard/offboard functionality in Bettercloud automations. -Recent outages. Since march 2020 we've experienced issues almost every month even though Slack's status website only reported 3. I would get spammed with emails or Google Chat(our backup if Slack goes down) messages asking me what to do. I can't do anything, they went down. -Private channels are invisible even to admins- even as the admin I can't see private channels which have been a problem when trying to create a channel but getting an error that channel already exists. -When inviting users, add them to a user group that automatically that would add them to all channels they need like Eng, CS, Sales each get their 5-10 channels automatically.

### "Everyone should use Slack "

August 29, 2022

5.0

Pros

I liked the following features the most: 1. Reminder feature on a message 2. Real-Time notification feature, with email integrated 3. Web based tool instead of installing the app 4. Arranging meeting with the peers 5. Making threads inside main chat 6. Viewing Code snippets

Cons

Slack is very good tool when it comes to sharing files, code snippets. But I found out that my peers are much more interested to use WhatsApp instead of Slack for instant messaging. As most of the time the other user who haven't enabled the notifications, would not receive the message instantly.

### "Look no further - superior to Microsoft Teams"

October 13, 2022

5.0

Pros

As a former user of Microsoft Teams and longtime user of slack, I can confidently say that Slack is far superior in functionality and it's ease of use. Slack gets the job done and is very reliable. It's ease of use and reliability are what I like best.

Cons

Slack used to include notification banners on the desktop icon (on Mac) showing how many unread messages you had, they have since removed that and have limited banner notifications which I wish they brought back.

### "Useful but not exciting."

October 11, 2021

4.0

Good but very, very focused usefulness. Not exciting.

Pros

It was the first instrument that I used that solved the problem of creating channels of communication for a Team to use within the same subject with possibility to stratify subjects with referral domains. Still I find it very robust under this feature.

Cons

A part form the originality of multi-channel comms under several subjects / domains the rest of features is standard and does not create any “wow” to move to this platform as “the one”. The easiness if use for beginners could be improved.

### "Great Team Communication Software For Anyone Just Starting out"

October 23, 2022

5.0

My overall experience with Slack has been alright. I loved the communication features and the fact that it was perfect for my team and I when we were just starting out. It really gave me the power to start my team even though I didn't really have the budget for a centralized communication software for my business at the time. The ability to coordinate and communicate with me team in real-time, as well as guest freelancers and others was great. It served us very well for the time that we used it. I would highly recommend this software to anyone who is looking to get started using a multi-person communication software for their team. If you are looking for something that is geared more towards focusing on tasks and project management as well as communication, I would recommend looking into something different.

Pros

The great thing about Slack is, first of all, it has multiple pricing plans. Especially, the fact that its first pricing plan is completely free. So it is great for anyone who is just starting a team, whether it be for a start-up for either a non-profit or a business. You have the ability to share files, communicate in real-time, receive real-time notifications, and communicate with multiple people at once. As well as do some small project management functions.

Cons

The only shortcomings I would say Slack has, is the fact that they are obviously a software that is mainly built for the purposes of communication between people in real-time. More like a glorified messenger app. So the file sharing, collaboration, and other project management features leave somethings to be desired.

### "Slack for Online Entrepreneurs and Coaching Programs"

August 31, 2021

4.0

I love that slack creates an organized platform for project based teamwork. I have used it only in the capacity of online group coaching programs for entrepreneurs. Of the multiple times my group programs have used this platform, I've ended up turning off notifications and not being an active participant due to the overwhelm of notifications. The downside to this platform is that the notification system is not very customizable and it feels like you're in a group chat 24/7. The upside is that you can easily find the topics you would want to follow and it's easy to respond to the members posting on the platform. The downside is that there are so many notifications that often they go unanswered because the person misses the tag, so it's like following up via an email in a corporate setting when somebody misses it. That gets frustrating.

Pros

I love that the Slack program offers flexibility to create teams and group conversations where everybody can stay on track with the ultimate goals. Between the app and the desktop version, you can stay connected on the go and while you're working in the office.

Cons

Slack offers you the ability to get "pinged" when someone posts a DM or a comment on threads. However, the notifications get annoying and distracting really easily (picture a group chat on your phone all day) and there was no easy way to limit the notifications that come through in a customized way. In fact, after turning off the notifications and trying to turn them back on, I'd end up missing the ones I needed (bug in the system?). I found the platform annoying when it worked and annoying when it didn't.

### "Implementing Slack at work was an absolute decision"

October 9, 2020

5.0

We implement slack for inter-office communications. Slack made the communication possible and managing workflows was a lot easier. We often use slack for real-time messaging not, particularly for archives. Overall, slack has enhanced our business productivity, collaboration between project teams, and managed to provide streamlined communication.

Pros

Slack was easy to use and implement at work. The web version of slack works completely fine. The slack interface is streamlined and ideal for business communication. We are able to replace emails at work and use communication on slack, which is quick and easy for project teams. The most significant thing I loved about Slack is, it can be integrated with other productivity, communication, and collaboration tools to make the work more streamlined and can be an optimum choice for automation and scripting.

Cons

The only downside to this application is its pricing. The standard plans lack most of the important features, so we thought of upgrading to Plus. Since the price is based on per person per month, we found the pricing for Plus too high. So, we had expected if the price could be pay-per-module, but that can’t be helped either.

### "Slack is Much More Than Just Messaging"

April 1, 2020

5.0

Simply put, Slack solved the issue of under communicating within our business. The software added a new medium that allows employees to solve problems faster and complete tasks sooner by eliminating unnecessary in-person discussions and remain connected even when remote. Working from home continues to become more and more popular and Slack has now become absolutely vital in allowing that to be done. We're able to chat, phone and video call, screen share, file upload and more! We are very pleased with how useful the software has proven to be.

Pros

Slack's list of pros far outweigh the software's cons. Most importantly, Slack is extremely simple to install and learn! Everything about the user-face is intuitive and looks very similar to tradition messaging applications. Certainly, the messaging functionality of Slack is the greatest pro. The software is available for all computer devices and smartphone devices which allows everyone to stay connected whenever and wherever they need to. Another tremendously impactful pro is the screen sharing function; this is critical to successfully working from numerous offices or from home. It allows us to walk through problems as they arise and creatively collaborative on visuals. Lastly, Slack has the ability to integrate with a users Google Drive which makes file uploading and sharing seamless!!! I could go on but there are ultimately some of the greatest takeaways.

Cons

One of the greatest cons many employees have identified is the software's nagging "unread" notification. A new/unread message badge will appear on both the smartphone and computer applications for a message that has often times already been read. This occurs when the incoming message is received while the application is already open on a device. For instance, like many of us do, I keep the my application open in one of my dual monitors (meaning it is open at all times) and if I have the chat open to Sally's chat and Sally messages me, I will have a new message notification until I click "Mark as read" within our already visible chat. It's a rather small con but it sometimes creates confusion.

### "Much better than Hipchat"

September 23, 2021

5.0

Overall, Slack is my favorite communication tool I've used. My company used Hipchat prior to Slack and we all rejoiced when the switch was made. It's more intuitive and much more customizable.

Pros

I like how I can set my own color themes and pick my notification sound. I have access to all the Apple emojis as well as Slack's fun emojis to set a status. The developers in my company have created new emojis as well and those are fun to use. Slack is the easiest way – and I have several tools at my disposal for this including Google Meet, Zoom and Uberconference/Dialpad – to do an audio call, video call or screen share with one other person. I prefer to use Google Meet for meetings with several people, but my go-to is slack for a call with just one other person. The pencil tool to highlight something is so handy when someone is sharing their screen with me. When on a call, the little phone emoji appears next to my name so others know that I'm on a call and can't respond right away. I like being able to respond to a message in a thread too. My company has a channel for everyone in the company and the notification can get out of hand if lots of people are responding back and forth. But threads simplify that and make it so I can respond to a message in a thread versus the entire company seeing it. They can see the thread if they click on it, but it requires an extra step. I also love the shortcuts for sharing gifs from giphy, setting reminders and others. Oh, and setting notification preferences is amazing. I have my Slack set to only receive notifications during certain hours during the day so I'm not getting them all through the night and before the next workday starts.

Cons

I don't like that I can't create a Slack channel on my own. My company has it set up that only the admins can create new public and/or private channels. I can create a group to direct message with, but that's it. If I want a channel created, I have to go to the admin. I think this is more of a gripe for my company making that rule and not a Slack thing, though. I also wish I could blur my background or set a fun background like you can in Google Meet and Zoom.

Generally, experience is very useful and helped in sorting out the group correspondence quite well. Professionals: The best thing about slack is group cooperation and correspondence. The gathering and classifications in view of the subject are very great and help in the isolation of content in light of need. Also, it is very organized and easy to communicate especially in posting in thread.

Pros

Slack assists you with talking and communicating with specific individuals and groups inside your association or different associations with Slack rapidly. It likewise allows you to track all that individuals have said about a thought so you can look by catchphrase for a particular thought. I love it. I use it consistently, and you might actually say it's the collective conscience for the association. It's such a ton lighter than an email client, and I want to do my help tickets with different associations with it(honestly, there's likely an application for it out there). This leads me to another incredible point; Slack is perfect for rapidly imparting thoughts and coordinating a few applications. Pretty soon, the association between SF and Slack will improve, I'm certain. Your association needs Slack in the event that it can manage the cost of it. It is priceless for diminishing the time it takes to team up and use aggregate insight.

Cons

Allow me to begin by saying you're likely not going to find anything better than Slack. These reactions are enhancements to the item I think ought to be made however are in no way, shape, or form a legitimization for why you shouldn't utilize this. Email is killing your business by making you and your group sit around idly. My one test with any undertaking application is that it can get somewhat hard to figure even to design every one of those settings(email is more awful at this than Slack). I wish that settings were suggested in view of the use of highlights inside the application. Kindly assist me with figuring out how to involve Slack in additional useful ways. Kindly don't make me swim through help articles and directions. All things considered, put the button to switch the setting in a pop-around directly in the center of my work process or in a notice on Slackbot so I can roll out the improvement there and see the reason why it will assist me with being more useful. Warnings are difficult to make due, however, they're getting better at that. Simply realize I'm suffocating and would cherish a component worked in that offered the response to FAQs by utilizing some ML(apps that do this are too costly on the API to be worth the effort). I'm a well-informed authority and get pinged with a lot of DMs and's in channels that basically have similar responses. Assist me with volume so I as a solitary individual can help more individuals. Some something to think about. Also, they

### "Slack makes business communication easy, efficient and engaging"

August 7, 2021

5.0

I have enjoyed every bit of using slack, it gives me a feeling of using a robust yet state of the art communication platform. Hats off to the folks at slack, keep the good work going !!

Pros

It has carved a new segment in business communication and remote collaboration. Right now it is the gold standard as far as combining email and chat go. The User Interface is peppy and fun. The User Experience is very intuitive and efficient. We can edit messages that were sent without much noise. Love the slackbot as well it is very effective if used correctly. There are some really cool geeky features like Marvin etc which add the much needed spice to the remote work environment.

Cons

I haven't seen/used a native audio or video calling feature on slack, there are some advantages of having 3rd party video conferencing integration support but an inbuilt audio and video calling would have made this an absolute front runner in its segment. There should be a feature to notify when someone has logged in back to slack.

### "Wonderful and Colorful Communication Application"

June 19, 2023

5.0

Slack has been an essential communication tool for our team. It has been very effective at keeping us more connected and working on issues. Administration of the application doesn't take to long to learn.

Pros

The chat feature keeps our team connected across many locations we service. The huddle feature allows us to easily speak to each other in conferences and collaborate. Slack has a lot of features and options we can configure specifically to our needs. It has a nice layout that keeps users engaged. We are able to setup our alerts to notify us in slack channels and keep our NOC team aware of real time issues.

Cons

Slack does not integrate with Microsoft Teams and some of our clients are unable to chat with us. File size restrictions make sharing pictures and screenshots frustrating to open. There are no language and parental monitors.

### "Slack: Transforming Team Collaboration in the Modern Workplace"

June 26, 2023

5.0

I must say, I've had an incredible experience using Slack! The interface is so easy to use, and with all the collaboration tools and integrations, it's definitely improved our team's productivity. And let's not forget about the security features - they're top-notch! Honestly, Slack has completely changed the game for us. Communication is effortless and teamwork is seamless. If you're looking to boost collaboration within your team and streamline your workflows, I highly recommend giving Slack a try!

Pros

Slack has revolutionized team collaboration with seamless communication, organized information management, intuitive collaboration features, and powerful integrations. The ability to customize notifications and the accessibility provided by the mobile app further enhance the overall user experience. As a user, I am impressed by how Slack has transformed how my team communicates and works together, boosting productivity, efficiency, and overall success.

Cons

Despite its numerous strengths, Slack does have a few areas that could be further optimized. The learning curve, notification management, file organization, and search functionality are aspects that I found to be slightly challenging. However, it's important to note that these limitations are relatively minor compared to the overall value and benefits Slack brings to team collaboration. With its ongoing updates and commitment to user feedback, Slack has the potential to address these concerns and continue to evolve as a leading collaboration platform.

We've even been able to integrate third-party apps, which has been excellent. Overall, it's helped us to be more productive and work more efficiently as a team. ### "I sometimes wonder how collaboration worked before Slack"

November 13, 2020

5.0

I find it hard to remember life before Slack. We all worked in a single open plan office but, like most offices, still communicated predominantly from our desks. Our go to IM tool was Skype and it was an easy way for conversations to get siloed. Slack brought those conversations out into the open, made them discoverable and brought in automations to make them richer. If you're debating whether to use Skype or Slack there really is no contest. I'd also suggest it outperforms Teams and other competing collaboration and instant messaging tools for it's deep integrations.

Pros

Real-time instant messaging, file sharing and integrations with key apps that automate important proceses mean a high percentage of tasks can be managed all in one place.

Cons

Threads are often difficult to keep track of. Slack has done its best to elevate Threads but I still find myself missing things when people don't @ mention me.

### "Great communication tool for small businesses"

August 13, 2021

Really like my experience with Slack. Simple, easy to use and most people appreciate it. Even though the data history is something we would really want in the free version, we got used to write important stuff outside of slack (by email or on Discord) and it doesn't disturb us that much. Thanks Slack!

Pros

It is really easy to implement and configure Slack in a small organisation. Obviously, the free version is a great deal with a lot a good features.

Cons

The paid version would be too expensive for our fast-growing organisation so it would be really nice to have all the data history in the free version. We are considering switching to Discord mainly for this reason.

### "The best way to communicate asynchronously"

April 15, 2023

4.0

I love using Slack for what it does best: keeping important communication out of my email inbox. I hadn't used it much before my current job, and I'm very glad I was introduced to it. If I ever worked for a company that didn't have a tool like Slack, I'd make sure they acquired it ASAP.

Pros

As long as you've used tools like MSN, AIM, or Facebook Messenger before, you'll be able to pick up Slack in minutes. That makes it a super valuable tool, since deployment is so easy.Creating channels to manage the communications of multiple teams across different topics and projects is incredibly valuable — it keeps communication from getting too messy.Slack integrates seamlessly with a ton of super valuable apps, including Asana, Google Drive, and Google Calendar.

Cons

One of the unfortunate drawbacks of Slack is it's created an entirely new problem in replacing email; too many notifications. I personally keep Slack off of my phone, since I know other folks have trouble dealing with so many notifications. This might be less an issue with the tool itself, but rather with the tool category. Be mindful that you'll need processes around this stuff if you use Slack or one of its alternatives.

### "Slack is the best collaboration tool in Today's agile world"

September 20, 2021

4.0

Overall slack is very good tool for collaboration and we have been using slack for more than a year now. We have rocket chat and even teams but our team has lot many channels created on slack and using slack pretty extensive. Overall good tool in project management.

Pros

The best feature is , it is real time messaging app. The slack is very much faster as compare to other collaboration apps. The integration support with third party platforms such as Jira, outlook , etc is amazing. The emojis pack is pretty extensive. You can create public, private or shared channels in slack. The events reminders and quick commands are useful. The other person can point the screen share which helps understanding the context.

Cons

The audio calling feature is quite disappointing. The call sometimes drops unexpectedly. Sometimes it takes lot of time to load slack app. Conversation gets deleted within 90 days.

Reason for choosing Slack

### "Slack is a Life Saver! "

August 20, 2022

5.0

Slack has been a wonderful experience, it's essential for the communication within my own department/team and through our company.

Pros

I love being able to quickly message my team about customer issues, use different channels to communicate about different topics, speak with other teams about other projects and escalate quickly in a huddle/call when things are going wrong without having to compromise someone's privacy using cell phones.

Cons

There really isn't anything I don't like about Slack, occasionally my settings are wiped out for notifications and some of the software we integrate but otherwise it does exactly what I need it to do.
