### "Very effective communication tool for companies"

February 14, 2024

5.0

Slack makes communication at work so easy and streamlined. I highly recommend it.

Pros

I appreciate that this platform has both desktop and mobile apps, and its huddle feature is impressive. It eliminates the need to use other platforms for calls as it provides everything, including screen-sharing. Additionally, a useful little feature is the ability to send notes to oneself.

Cons

It could be a bit more user-friendly. For instance, threads in messages could be redesigned. I also wish there were more customization options.

### ""Slack it to me" - So good it's become a verb"

September 30, 2021

5.0

Communication. late night reminders. Out of office reminders. Note-taking for the next day. You could say it serves as conscious thought. From all the integrations data comes in. Messages come in and you can answer. So much easier than email.

Pros

It's so easy to send files. Communicate. Make lists. It's the communication channel the whole team uses and loves.

Cons

I don't have anything negative to say. Apart from it would be great if we could receive the same sort of notification in some of the channels as say direct messaging, but I also see why it's great that you can't.

### "Perfect for keeping momentum with partial or wholly remote teams"

September 6, 2018

5.0

At first, only our Development team used Slack. After a few months, it was working so well for them and our team was growing quick, so we moved everyone over. At that time, we were 100% remote and after implementation our productivity and communications blossomed. Slack's customer service is superb, and they're always quick, knowledgeable, and kind. At times we have had to work a little bit to make sure we and our employees maintain a healthy culture with instant messaging (it can cause unwarranted stress if not handled well, at times). Slack's do not disturb settings are helpful for this, but a business still has to be cognizant of the culture shifts that Slack is capable of causing to a workplace.

Pros

Slack has enabled us to give our employees more freedom and flexibility with when and where they work, without sacrificing good communication. As we have worked towards a goal of transparency, Slack has been an important tool. Best of all, Slack's wide selection of pre-built integration as well as ease to build your own if you're dev-savvy has turned it into the hub of all our internal business functions. We can get all our notifications in one place, easily get to wherever we need to go from Slack, and most importantly, not lose important conversations to the black hole of email.

Cons

Although the text-messaging feel that makes the backbone of Slack is something that just about everyone knows how to use, the finer points of really using Slack to the best of its capability for a business is a long learning process, and getting everyone onboard to integrate their functions in to help with productivity can be a struggle.

### "Slack Review"

December 19, 2019

5.0

The overall experience is pretty nice - as I've mentioned in the Pros section, it can almost serve every need for communication at work and the use of emoji makes it a fun platform to communicate within the team.

Pros

Several things I like about using Slack: 1. overall UI is very easy to use and it looks comfortable; 2. the integration with third party software like giffy for JIFs; 3. the search functionality is awesome - it can search almost at every level and the result is pretty robust; 4. the notification and profile settings - you can get notification whenever you want and set yourself to be away to avoid being annoyed; 5. the archiving feature makes it easy to close the groups / channels you don't need anymore; 6. the consistency across different clients like desktop and mobile phones are pretty good. Usually the speed of sync up is acceptable; 7. Emoji emoji and emoji!

Cons

Not many I can think of - the most obvious one is the lack of video and audio chat feature. Secondly is about the cost. I use it at work and my company pays for it and I know the cost is not cheap for individual users and startups.

### "Best Communication Platform I Have Used"

February 18, 2021

5.0

Overall, I've had an overwhelmingly positive experience using Slack. There are very few cons, and the cons that come to mind are minimal, and don't deeply affect my experience. I would recommend the software to any company in need of a communication platform for its employees.

Pros

Slack is, in my opinion, the best communication platform for businesses, or at least my business. Users have the ability to message one-on-one privately, with a small group of people, or create a "channel" to message a large group of people, privately or publicly. The mobile app, as well, is as intuitive as any messaging system. I especially appreciate that it gives users the ability to set a "notification schedule," so that you will not be notified of messages during non-work hours.

Cons

I work as an editor for a production company, and the one quite annoying snag I constantly run into is the limit on file size sharing. Users only have the ability to transfer files up to 1 GB in size, which is quite a low limit. And while app integration can be useful, every time I want to simply copy and paste a Dropbox link to send to a colleague, Slack will ask me if I want to set up Dropbox integration. I would rather not, and I wish there was a way to set Slack so that it would stop asking.

### "The most important way to talk with your team. Yes, even more important than email!"

September 27, 2018

5.0

This is not only a great way to communicate with the team but it's a lot of fun. Aside from making us more productive, it's a way to take a break. Have a conversation with a couple buds, go into the #random channel and share a funny story, GIF, image, experience. You can make a fun channel for something as silly as showing off sandwiches then try to one-up a coworker with your creativity in the company kitchen.

Pros

This is the absolute best way to communicate with your team. Whether you all share an office or are across the globe, Slack makes it easy. The features are endless: -GIFs -Private/public channels for everything from secret meetings to what's for lunch -Messaging can be to an individual/group/whole team -Stickers as reactions (you can even make your own and it's easy) -Setting reminders (a real lifesaver) -Your profile with more info in case someone needs to call or email -Starting a call within any channel -Jumping to a date to see something you missed from the meeting -Search (because you're going to forget who you told about that thing) -Did I mention GIFs (they're a blast) -AND SO MUCH MORE!

Cons

There is the rare outage. These and far between and can last from seconds to minutes. Most of my team is within shouting distance so we're never hurting. If your team works out of the office this can be a period of aggravation. Again, it's rare. I see it happening once every few months.

### "Great Tool For Communication "

August 15, 2022

5.0

Slack is phenomenal for communication. Paired with a good project management program and you've got everything you need. It's also very easy to add outside users. Perfect for communicating with clients or collaborators.

Pros

Easy to communicate with coworkers. The search abilities are awesome, making it super easy to find a certain conversation.

Cons

While most of the interface is very intuitive, occasionally it can be less intuitive for the extra features - Takes a minute to figure out how to make a call or attach a file. I wish I could increase the number of direct team members channels show up in the sidebar. It defaults to a certain number and picks the most recent to show up.

### "Re-invention of instant messengers"

December 14, 2018

5.0

I remember times when there was email only. Then came ICQ and it speeded things up. Then skype appeared and became a de-facto business standard. However, even during skype domination I've heard about a new messenger called slack and wondered: What's the sense in a new communication tool? Only after I started to use it extensively I realised how convenient and powerful it is. I really like using slack now and can't understand how we used skype before :)

Pros

Slack is very easy to use. You grasp the ideas of direct communication, channels and threads immediately. You spend no time in installing and starting to use it. However, this easiness covers lots of useful features that will uncover once you get accustomed with simple features and start to explore slack more. Besides that, slack allows you to install additional bots and plugins that will help you even more with automating mundane tasks and everyday routines.

Cons

I noticed that with slack I spend more time on communication than before. Unlike email, you can postpone answering a message, you need to answer it immediately, otherwise it'll get buried among other chats. Also slack is a closed world of its own. When we used skype in our company, it was easy to create conferences with people from different companies. You can't do that easy with slack, you'll have to ask your admin to send an invite to the person in slack, otherwise they won't have access to it.

### "Fantastic way to keep chats organized and video call"

September 23, 2022

5.0

Overall, I use slack for work and family communication. The use of channels and threads keeps communication organized and easy to find to later. 10/10 would recommend using slack!

Pros

I like that you can create separate channels and threads for different topics of conversation and to keep discussions organized. I like how you can update and customize your status. I like how you can easily video conference and screen share.

Cons

I can think of anything that I don’t like about this software

### "Slack Review"

June 12, 2022

4.0

My overall experience with Slack is not that good as it needs to be more stable.

Pros

I like the threads which allow me to reply in a separate window to limit the unuseful information. Slack offers a range of emojis that allows interactive communication. Also, I like the option of ready-to-send messages that allow me to send ready messages super fast.

Cons

I need to sign in each time I want to add a new workspace which is a time and effort-consuming process. Usually, I face glitches and errors that don't enable Slack to launch, and this problem is not fixed until now. I don't like that Slack offers a limited memory size for messages and it automatically deletes these messages when exceeding the limit without alerting me.

### "Slack is the go-to internal company hub for all comms"

November 19, 2020

5.0

Slack is where information flows in the business. It's snappy, engaging, collaborative and a pleasure to use. I don't think I would be able to work as efficiently in a company that doesn't have Slack or something similar - I simply cannot go back to emails only.

Pros

I was introduced to Slack in my recent job. In a previous corporate position, all internal comms were limited to emails, making collaboration difficult and cumbersome. Slack has the feeling of a social platform but maintains the feel of a professional product. Reaching colleagues is easy, so is setting up groups when having meetings, or just reaching out for and ad-hoc question. We found that using slack for different projects helped bring along the right people. The different app integrations are also fantastic (Outlook, Jira, Zoom, etc..) helping speed up effective comms, especially in the current remote environment.

Cons

This is not necessarily a design flaw, more of an involuntary consequence of the nature of Slack - it is increasingly becoming a monitoring tool to see which of your colleagues are online and active on their workstations. This may instil a feeling of being monitored - it would be good to think of an elegant way to address this.

### "Digital tool for worksapce"

May 19, 2022

5.0

Pros

The best part about slack is that it helps in communicating and sharing assest files with the team and collegues without any problem from one place to the other in just a one click.

Cons

Everything is amazing in this tool there is nothing least likeable about the tool expect one thing that is that it has a limitation of sharing size of any file which sometimes becomes a bit of a trouble.

### "I use Slack for all my internal communication at my small business. "

May 24, 2018

5.0

Pros

I used to use Skype for business communication... And Skype was the worst. I had no idea how much better it could be. Skype had issues left and right. Slack showed me how much better communication software can be. It is so much more user-friendly and intuitive to use. When starting to use Slack it will guide you around and show you how to use it as you go. It has so much more functionality than alternatives. It is very reliable, and the desktop app and mobile app communicate with each other very well when you're switching back and forth between them. Sharing files is easy. The search functionality is great. Customizing your notifications is great. Setting up different threads and channels are very useful

Cons

Honestly, it is pretty hard to think about what I like the least. Slack is an excellent piece of software and their growth numbers illustrate it. With that being said, Slack can sometimes be confusing because of how many different functions it can offer. Slack can integrate with other software programs and it can sometimes get confusing. Having good Slack etiquette is a thing. People need to kind of be on the same page of how to use slack so that way they aren't blowing up other peoples notifications. The different threads in a conversation can sometimes be confusing for some employees.

### "A Professional Tool for Collaborative Teams"

October 20, 2022

5.0

Pros

Slack for both remote and in-person teams is absolutely crucial for successful communication. Slack provides real-time messaging and file sharing that allows for easy communication. The ability to send files, create Slack "channels" or groups, and enable desktop notifications makes working remotely effortless. There is also a team-building element to Slack's instant messaging capabilities. Since Slack facilitates collaboration through instant messaging, our team feels more comfortable communicating with one another on a daily basis.

Cons

As a team who often sends files to each other via Slack, the upload and processing times for said files can be quite high for bigger files. Would love it if Slack could also increase the file-sharing size. For larger companies, inviting external freelancers to our Slack can be a bit of a process since an Admin has to approve new members -- this can take time, often delaying workflow since there are only so many Admins allowed to manage company Slack accounts.

### "A great tool for remote work, file sharing and team communication!"

February 12, 2024

My overall experience with Slack is great! I would recommend my clients slack if they are looking something similar in particular.

Pros

I liked their easy-to-use approach! The great user-friendly interface and all the necessary functions to collaborate with the remote team are awesome.

Cons

There are no cons! It's just some drag and drop project management solution like Trello would make it a perfect project management solution platform.

### "For me an excellent communication tool that integrates with my applications!"

August 17, 2018

5.0

In general terms, my experience with slack has been very good, you can really reduce a number of corporate emails on a topic when you can do it through a chat channel and where everyone can participate. In particular I can integrate it with hangouts and with drive making my management more efficient. Another aspect of value is that when I carry out development projects, it is possible to take traceability through the applications of repository or version control with GitLab and Bitbucket. I recommend it to all users understanding the content of centralizing their communications.

Pros

Slack is a very useful communication tool in the workplace, it allows you to create discussions about a topic, a project or a particular situation in the company. Among the things that I like most about this tool is that I can centralize communication with my work teams and I can integrate it with my suite of tools such as: Google Drive, bitbucket atlassian, trello, etc. For me it is an intelligent chat that seeks to minimize the broadcast of corporate emails, however in my case it is useful but in the same way I can distribute the communications by several means depending on the need. I often use private messaging and create channels by area to discuss a particular topic, and it allows me to connect via web, desktop or mobile.

Cons

What I find tedious in the tool is to search for conversations, although it has improved this section organizing it by topic, even I find it hard to locate information in a chat. Another limitation is that it does not allow you to send videos in the chats, only files.

### "A must for professional communication"

March 22, 2020

4.0

The deployment and set up was easy and after about a couple of days, you will get used to it. Slack is our primary application for professional communication with clients and offshore teammates. Having multiple channels for various purposes is a good feature. Sometimes the loading time is high, and even when you search for messages, but this can be overlooked when considering slack as a package.

Pros

Slack is very easy to use with its simple and highly professional UI making things easily available, like the search, using emojis and reactions, etc. Unlike Microsoft Teams, here in Slack you can search for a message using a keyword, and trust me this is a lifesaver. You can have multiple channels set up for a variety of communication purposes. The mobile version is also good and reliable. The app is easy to use but at the same time has very professional UI and all the necessary features.

Cons

Slack is expensive when compared to its competitors. It should have a feature to search for gifs online like MS teams. You may miss out on some important emails as most messages are conveyed on the chat. So you have to be clear about it, emails are still a priority when it comes to professional communication.

Pros

### "Slack is the tool that everyone needs"

August 16, 2022

I have used slack at multiple companies and it has always gotten better with time.

Pros

Slack makes it easy to connect remote teams. This software gives us advantages to host multiple groups and each group can have unique conversations. We can bring people in and out of conversations without losing any momentum.

Cons

The one area that needs to be improved is how you can share channels outside of the organization. Building channels and threads that not only allow for collaboration between team members but also other organizations.

### "A Software Our SMB Could Not Go Without"

September 11, 2021

5.0

I love Slack. I was slow to adopt Slack compared to my peers and friends, but I couldn't go without Slack at this point. I use it on my phone, I use it on my iPad, I use it on my laptop. It is so helpful managing an agency because so many organizations use it.

Pros

The ability to communicate within our organization and with people across other organizations is the best feature of Slack. The ability to share files in a similar way is also a huge pro.

Cons

Set-up can be rough initially. I feel like it's not intuitive initially on setup. Now that I've gone through it a few times, I understand it well, but the first time was rough. I feel like it's just a unique way of tying channels and organizations to a login.

In fact, the price of the pro version of Slack seems very high for a tool that we only use for chatting.

Pros

We love it for its purpose: to chat. Whether with colleagues, with clients, in groups, live, Slack is the best Chat solution we could find - especially when it is necessary to install it with our clients in order to share the same communication channels. The management of automated alerts may be also interesting.

### "Once you Slack, you can't go back."

February 21, 2021

5.0

Slack allows our now fully remote workforce to connect easily with eachother to share knowledge. The "communication" tool now serves as a knowledge sharing and repository as well due to its impressive and easy search functionality. For cost savings, we considered leaving Slack a couple of years ago, but could not. Its ease of use and history makes it so so vital. I also use giphs more than ever.

Pros

When I started using Slack, the most valuable feature for me was the ability quickly connect with co-workers and get answers with greater speed than email or walking up or down a flight of stairs. After 5+ years of using slack, I would say the amazing search functionality is so critical. I can get answers I need from co-workers, past and present. The ability to search files and conversations in one shot is amazing.

Cons

The urgency conveyed with a messaging tool can make both you and your fellow users more impatient. If you are not responsible, it can serve to be a productivity killer when trying to focus.
