### "Easy of use and really valuable for team collaboration"

October 21, 2021

5.0

Pros

It is very easy to set up and start chatting and collaborating instantly.

Cons

It can not compete against zoom or video call softwares. It would be great, at least for internal use with your team, but the audio calls don´t even have stability. Searching for files is not easy.

### "A cloud-based team collaboration tool and service."

April 18, 2019

5.0

Slack collaboration tool is enhancing the user experience. The pin-it option helps in highlighting the important messages and documents. It helps in tracking the communication. Channels and direct messages can be set to favorite also. In our organization it is not just connecting people it is connecting the complete infrastructure.

Pros

Slack is a cloud-based collaboration software to bring communication in a single and organized manner. Channels are used for team and project interaction. On slack we can share voice, video and screen. The integrated file sharing help to share the files and documents over it. Integration of Slack with GitHub and JIRA are so smooth and amazing that we never feel it like working on different software. The searchable history let us provide the option of finding the communication we had in past. The Two-factor authentication provide an additional level of security.

Cons

Slack interactive screen sharing option should come with the more options like sketch marks. Google Authentication should be enabled on all version of Slack.

Very good. The platform looks clean and refreshing with very nice UI.

Pros

The mobile version is very fast and powerful for easy collaboration. I am very impressed Discussions can be grouped into channels. Can be integrated with Google drive.

Cons

Gets a bit difficult to manage as organization size grows. Somewhat expensive too. PC resource consumption was very noticeable.

### "The perfect team messaging app"

May 13, 2019

5.0

Slack speeds up and streamline's communication across our team, is simple to use and has served as a knowledge hub with its robust search functionality.

Pros

As someone who has used Slack every day for the last 2 years, I can say that it's much more than an instant messaging software - Slack makes collaboration fast and simple. The UI is straightforward, user-friendly and contains enough features to appease both the casual and power user. Additionally, slack easily integrates with most other platforms we work with (either directly or through their API) allowing us to source important updates/information from various different systems all through the app. Slack has proven to be an indispensable part of our team communication structure - being able to effectively communicate with different teams across the company, sharing files and (very importantly) search across all previous conversation histories has saved us time and streamlined workflow.

Cons

Nothing that I can think of, Slack works perfectly for my needs.

### "Great for Streamlining Cross-functional Communication"

May 27, 2020

5.0

I love Slack and would highly recommend to all, both small teams and larger businesses.

Pros

I love Slack! It's a great tool for my specific department to stay in communication and it's great when you need to work cross-functionally with different departments as well. I could easily ping different teams to get answers to questions. There were a lot of channels created for specific features and you could alert everyone on the channel if you had a pressing question. Everyone was super responsive and it really helps when working from home as well. We created fun channels too. One for all of our dogs etc. I also love that you can create your own emoji's and really personalize the channels.

Cons

I can't really think of anything, although I do wish there was some type of directory for all the channels. It seemed like I had to know of a channel before I could add myself to it or have a colleague add me to it. It could also be how our slack was setup but I found that to be the only challenge.

### "Hands down best team communication/collaboration software"

July 26, 2018

5.0

Slack is incredible! It makes it easy to track progress/communications by topic while only including relevant parties, which is much more efficient and effective than email. It also makes it very easy to track prior communications to go back and reference when needed. Even down to the small touches like allowing you to paste an image from the clipboard and the ease of which you can snooze messages and or access them easily from your phone or computer, browser or desktop app slack does just about everything right. And it doesn't cost anything for a small, growing startup like mine!

Pros

Slack makes communication extremely easy within teams and significantly reduces unnecessary emails. Slack is very flexible and does just about everything you'd want it to do, and if it doesn't, there's usually a plugin that can. And it's extremely affordable (free) for getting started.

Cons

Like any messaging platform I've ever used, from time to time notifications don't work. It can also be difficult sometimes for a new user to understand the channel structure but for the most part people are all familiar with slack by now.

### "Slack - fun and free"

October 29, 2019

5.0

Overall, I am a fan of slack and enjoy using it. I can use it on both my laptop and my desk top too.

Pros

I use the free version for Slack for our start up church as well as a men's organization that I participate in. It is a great option for both of these because it allows free access to most of the tools and, once you get used to the way it works, you can keep track of a LOT of info, discussions and "going ons" form lots of people. I really like how you can create different channels for different discussions and committees. That helps keep things organized.

Cons

Slack is not the most intuitive application to use the first few times. It takes more effort than it should, but once you get started and learn how to navigate the features, channels and such ... It's pretty dang awesome. The company could do a better job of showing a new user around with a wizard of some sort.

Reason for choosing Slack

We did not purchase slack, but chose the free version for now. But, we did look at a few other systems. In the end, Slack had a free option that has been great. We also chose it because many people in our organization had already used it before.

### "Well known and useful collaboration tool"

October 6, 2022

4.0

It has been a great tool over the years for organizing communication with clients. I do not myself administrate any of the workspaces, in every case it has been clients managing that side, so I have no experience with Slack as an administrator. I'm certain there are features of Slack that I do not use. Effectively for my use it is an organized chat interface. At least those unused features do not get in the way of my simple requirements. Given my scenario, I haven't understood Slack's apparent commercial success.

Pros

Great for communication inside of teams. Having multiple organizations (eg. communicating with different un-related clients) in a single interface is extremely convenient.

Cons

Somethings are unnecessarily complex and notifications seem to be hit-or-miss. On my windows PC they seem to be a bit inconsistent

### "Slack is great for rapid communication"

November 29, 2018

4.0

I have used Slack in professional and personal environments. In the professional environment, it's use is in rapid communication without the formality of email: the casual 'chat' makes it easier to pass information, have conversations, and exchange information without lapsing into a zillion-email back-and-forth chain. I have personally used it to keep up with local organizations, and it is excellent for rapid communication and reliability.

Pros

Slack is a reliable, usable chat platform for synchronous communication. It is similar to IRC, in that there's a Slack workspace (i.e., a company or organization), with subdivisions into channels (identified by a #, for instance, #local would be the 'local' Slack channel). Interface is clean and easy to use, and includes support for GIFs, emoji, and even organization-specific emoji to be used by members. It works well for its purpose, which is enable communication between users and reducing the need for email.

Cons

The paid plans can be pretty expensive as they're typically on a per-user basis. Otherwise, I don't have any complaints.

### "My experience with slack as a developer"

February 10, 2021

5.0

I loved slack since I started using it back in 2019, I has helped us to communicate and organiza our communication channels so we keep them clear and consistent, besides you can have old conversations which you can check later for any technical specifications or discussion you left pending.

Pros

The fact that you have a tool tho communicate with the whole team, share different files, code fragments and other resources, you can also create channels o small chat groups to discuss about something in specific, which lets you have an organized chat

Cons

The video calls feature needs to be improved, we prefer other platforms for this, so we can do calls share the screen

### "Easy-to-use group communication app for businesses"

October 12, 2018

5.0

I work for the development part of my company and Slack makes it easy to integrate with a number of tools that we use. Right now, we have a bot that posts in a separate channel our builds that we do through Azure Dev Ops, it let's us know via logify if there are any crashes by posting it into yet another channel. We can organize each of these in separate channels too so we don't get confused. Another feature that I love is the Giphy bot, which puts up a random gif based on the phrase you give it. There are other fun features like custom emojis and automatic responses to certain words/phrases. Slack is a really clean and simple way to communicate what I need to with all of my coworkers and along with that it includes a ton of useful features that I have found very helpful.

Pros

How easy it is to use the basic chatroom-like feature. The variety of bots and tools you can use in each of your rooms. The clean user interface. The customization you can do as both a user and an organization. You can have both private and public channels. Giphy is a very fun tool.

Cons

Some bots can be tricky to set up. There's no free screen sharing or free group calling.

### "Simply the best tool for internal communication - and networking"

March 9, 2020

5.0

I'm very happy about it. Especially after a lot of experience in the tool. Heres a couple of my tips: - Mute all the channels you don't have to see everything from. (You can still get notifications when mentioned) - Log out of your phone. If it can't wait for tomorrow, they can call you (or send an email). Makes a clean mind. - Download the native app. Don't use the browser version. - Integrate with your other tools and feed through Zapier. To get notifications for the whole team - when you get a new customer (B2B), or hit another cool goal. This way you can quickly share the news, celebrate it - and get feedback from your colleagues.

Pros

We switch over to Slack - after years of emailing with each other at the office. Slack combined with Asana for tasks make a great workflow. For the small conversations and informational messages to the staff, we take it on slack. For tasks and decisions, we use a task tool, like Asana.

Cons

Well, it's hard to think of something. I have a couple of organizations in my left menu, it could be more integrated into the flow. On the other hand, it makes me focused on the primary org.

### "The best chat platform for any team"

July 27, 2018

5.0

I am constantly on the phone with clients when I hear that little ding on the other line. I ask if they are using Slack also and we laugh about how great of a product it is. That sounds like an odd exchange, but I cannot tell you how many times it has happened.

Pros

Slack is the best platform out there for chatting among team members. So easy to great channels and add the necessary people, personal messages, sharing files, setting reminders, it has it all. My team uses it for almost all communication. My favorite features include creating channels to keep information relevant and organized, being able to set reminders about messages, in case this is a message I need to answer tomorrow morning, adding reactions to messages for fast communication.

Cons

Honestly, this is hard to say. There is not much. Perhaps, the limited space. We can still share all the necessary information, but without getting the paid platform, sometimes older files or messages get lost. It is not so difficult, though, to simply ask a colleague to share it again.

### "Slack is great! "

December 19, 2018

5.0

Overall I absolutely love slack! Its super fun to create specific slack channels to bond with coworkers, and I love being able to use so many different emojis and search for gifs with /giphy. I hope I can use it with every company!

Pros

I've used slack for multiple tech companies and its always been my favorite chat program! Its super easy to communicate with your colleagues, create groups public or private, encourage people with similar interest to talk more and discover each other through specific slack channels and categories. If you need to reach out to everyone in the company, a simple @here would do super well!

Cons

My company set up slack so you can't delete your messages, so I don't prefer that, but I know that there is a setting to change that. Its a little hard sometimes when I want to search for messages inside a specific chat or find a file that I sent within a specific chat, it shows search results within every single slack channel and it gets a little confusing, so I can't exactly find what I am searching for.

### "Slack > Texting & Email"

February 10, 2021

5.0

I loved well designed products. My mind can be chaotic but companies like Slack have figured out how to organize the chaos of my digital communication life.

Pros

I love how it's changed the way we communicate with people. I love how easy it is to manage conversations with those that are important to my organization and teams. Imessage doesn't do that. Email doesn't do that.

Cons

Sometimes how easy it is to be accessed can have a negative side effect. I wouldn't mind the ability to delete yourself and then come back.

### "Complex tool, great for small to mid size businesses"

February 9, 2019

5.0

As a small marketing agency, we tried multiple project management tools (Basecamp, Asana) and Slack turned out to be the best!

Pros

It's a great tool for small to mid size business who needs to organize different projects and have teams. We have been using the free version for over a year for our small digital marketing agency, it's great because you can create projects and open conversations in all of them with different team members. You can also chat with every member, send files, images, you can tag people (@) and it is integrated with Google Drive for us. They are constantly improving it with apps. You can set yourself as "away" if you would like to work but not be interupted by others. It has desktop notification setting as an option, which I found very useful The best feature is that you can "pin" posts to mark them as important!

Cons

The user interface seems a little complicated at first, but after a few days the structure makes sense and you will understand the connection between the areas.

### "Simple tool for amazing team communication"

October 5, 2022

5.0

I have used Slack in 3 businesses now and will take it wherever I go!

Pros

Slack is so easy to integrate, set up is quick, no tech needed. Opens lines of communication for remote workers or big office spaces. AMAZING way to transfer pictures and files from/to multiple devices.

Cons

Thinking about what possibly I would want, individualized notification for each channel , but I really had to think hard on what I would like to see, Slack really does have it all for a normal team!!

### " Slack is excellent for everyone"

November 25, 2019

4.0

Slack has really helped us, it has allowed us to work with a lot of different people who work on many different things, they can work together with us in a community keeping up with everything that happens around, Slack is really good since we keeps in touch with many people from anywhere in the world

Pros

Slack is very good and one of the things I like most is his ability and the good work he does in keeping all the different topics in folders where if we have questions or random things, you can click on that board and see the opinion of people. and We really like how easy it is for everyone to help us keep all customer comments and ideas together in a chat group. i'm satisfied with slack

Cons

slack is really very good software but nevertheless it has its disadvantages, one of those is not being able to edit the reminders of existing channels I need to update them in a consistent way and I would like to be able to edit one that exists instead of deleting it and re-creating a new one . and another is that sometimes it happens that it freezes on my laptop and the windows of my chat on my cell phone do not remain synchronized with the chat windows on my laptop. it's annoying that this happens

### "Different workspaces all under one roof"

August 13, 2021

4.0

I work as a freelancer and I work with multiple different organizations and teams. In addition, I also like to contribute to open-source software. Slack makes it convenient to maintain conversations with all parties in one application while ensuring that they don't get mushed up or lost in each other. It's so easy to keep track of all the conversations happening and this makes it the perfect tool for communication and collaboration, especially if there are multiple teams/organizations involved.

Pros

Slack has a web app, desktop app and mobile app that supports all platforms. The feature that I most love is how it keeps workspaces separate, allowing you to join slack groups of different organizations and they're all under the same roof in a very neat way. It also allows bot integrations so you could create a separate channel, say with a bot made to give updates on your repository. To add to that, when you comment on someone's message, it will start a thread for that comment that pops up on the side of your screen when you click on it. Keeps things neat and clean and prevents clutter in the chat.

Cons

The only downside about Slack is that it feels a little bulky and kind of gives a "Skype" feeling. This is a personal preference, of course, and not that there is anything bad with Skype, it's just that it is not the most user-friendly and attractive application out there.

### "The only communication tool your team will ever need"

March 16, 2018

5.0

I've used Slack to stay in touch with friends and colleagues for years, I prefer it to almost any other communication medium.

Pros

Slack is a revolution in team communications - it's light and powerful and designed to be dense yet digestible. It's a pleasure to be able to respond to questions on my phone or on my PC depending on which is in reach in that moment - both the PC client and mobile apps are very user-friendly. Slack integrates well with other apps such as Trello and Google Drive to give you and your team (or friends, it's a great casual/social platform for focused interests as well) a great degree of freedom to customize your channels and workflows.

Cons

There is still no dark/night theme! I honestly cannot comprehend how Slack has become as ubiquitous as it now is, with such a range of new features and third-party support, and yet there is still no official support for a dark theme for the window or phone clients. Surely the developers that work on Slack are using dark themes to do so.

### "Team communication tracking, improved"

December 7, 2019

5.0

Slack is the grown up, and more capable version of AOL messenger I grew up using (for fun, not work). It's focused, searchable, and allows files and images all in one platform that makes for casual conversations verse the formality of emails. The free version offers a great amount of functionality so there's no reason not to give it a try before deciding if the paid version is right for your business.

Pros

Our team uses this to communicate between employees, share files for quick feedback, and avoid awkward office disruptions when you need to run to the bathroom or take a few minutes for a personal call. For workflow, it is great because its searchable. Better than random threads of emails, you can search for a term and find conversations to jog your memory of a coworker's feedback. Using channels allows you to tune in & out of converstations. A few people use this for casual convo, lunch orders etc, but you can ignore those threads while still connecting on important threads and direct messages.

Cons

The free version has many capabilities, but does cut you off timeline wise so you'll see lots of offer to upgrade if your company isn't paying for it but the free version's functionality is very comprehensive.

### "Freedom from your company email inbox"

March 5, 2019

4.0

The biggest problem, that many including myself report is that Slack solves is disappearing emails, especially from colleagues. My inbox is filled with so much"stuff" that 8mportant emails get lost. Team's can communicate through channels that keep all conversations, tasks, documents, etc in one location. Also, it keeps the conversations separate or collaborative to keep a team focused. I've had mixed results with various teams. The teams that decide to fully give it a try keep it.

Pros

The best thing about Slack is the ability to have everyone on a team communicating in the same place in the same conversation. It is much like the discussion groups of old. Rather than searching and searching for an email and trying to remember what the subject was or who sent it when, everything is kept directly in a channel. The amount of apps, both paid and free, is quite comprehensive. Most cloud storage applications allow for easy sharing, and with an Office 365/One Drive system, I never have to worry about colleagues downloading and uploading multiple copies of the same files. There are many articles and tutorials by both Slack and third parties out there. Including documentation for training and roll out.

Cons

For none technical people it has a fairly steep learning curve to truly benefit from its potential. I am very tech oriented but getting others, especially on small business settings has been hard to get others to agree to use the system, as it can appear to be just another system. It does not work well for one person to try and let others know how to goes. It is an all in commitment (that I believe is worth it).

### "Streamlining Communication and Boosting Efficiency"

November 25, 2020

5.0

Our overall experience has been extremely positive, providing us with an important resource to keep our business moving forward.

Pros

With a fully remote team at this time, being able to communicate with the efficiency and speed we were typically accustomed to in an in-person environment is mission-critical. Slack has made that transition seamless for us - providing an immediate leap to virtual communication.

Cons

Truthfully, we haven't experienced any con's yet with this service. It is helping us meet an essentiall communication need, and provides more efficient channels of communication than email, the ability to reference back not afforded by phone calls.
