Slack

## What is Slack?

Slack is where work happens for millions of people everyday. Slack transforms how work happens by bringing AI and automation to where people are already collaborating. Go from chatting with your teams to chatting with apps and data. Break down siloed data through Slack's searchable channel architecture, allowing your teams and AI to access your organization's knowledge. Teams work together in context when CRM data, project management, and people all come together to solve problems and make decisions. Teams can talk to each other and their AI agent in conversational language, allowing them to access each other and information seamlessly. Slack AI recaps channels and summarizes threads so that employees can jump into discussion quickly, whether they are new to a project or catching up after being away. Enterprise applications can easily be integrated and shared in channel and direct message, giving a snapshot of context and the opportunity to collaborate on the spot.

Very good. I have used it in my 3 recent jobs. seems to be the new remote collab app for teams, and I support that.

Pros

Good for remote teams to collaborate. Very easy to use and chat with your team. able to discuss bugs and issues.

Cons

Nothing really. Sometimes it is laggy and hard to integrate with Jira and Atlassian, but otherwise I like it.

Wonderful. The chat feature is great. Even if you clear the message from the sode bar, your chat doesn't gets deleted, it stays in cloud and will be resumed of message sent to the same person again.

Pros

Channel creation. Could tag channels in other channels. Tools are interesting. Auto schedule feature for reminders, updates is the best part for Slack. Ease of use and Privacy is taken care of.

Cons

The delete message option should be enabled for Admins. Also, should show Private channel name in other channels for visibility to other departments.

I used Slack on a daily basis for my work communications as our primary mode of information transfer. I mostly worked in channels and would sometimes use DMs.

Pros

I like that Slack allows for high levels of customization - for example, specific channels with different users or rules for automation. I also like that you can customize your personal notifications.

Cons

Sometimes Slack’s notification system is overwhelming, leading to missed messages. Additionally, while Slack has high potential for custom automation, this learning curve is fairly steep and not particularly user friendly.

Pros

Slack is so much easier to use than other platforms I have had to use in the past. It has a friendly interface, options to create multiple channels, ability to add custom emojis, and overall makes it easy to stay organized in the workplace. It also allows me to easily share files with my team so everyone has access to them quickly. I use it in my daily routine to meet with my team and chat about our daily tasks. The huddle feature is great for that!

Cons

Sometimes it has bugs where it doesnt connect my meeting schedule or let me join huddles, but most of the time that it resolved by either restarting the program or restarting my computer. No major issues with Slack.

Switched from

[Microsoft Teams](https://www.capterra.com/p/168668/Microsoft-Teams/)

Slack is overall easier to use and has more features than Teams.

Its been great overall. I do wish the meetings were a little better but i can deal with it because the chat and teams features are just so good.

Pros

Slack gives me so many things i can customize that it makes organizing chats or group chats so much easier then other chats.

Cons

The slack meetings are not great. They are very slow and have a pretty clunky interface. I think they are more focused on the chat features then the meetings.

We have a team of 20, lots of channels and automations everywhere which enables us to be reactive and not disrupt anyone who should not be.

Pros

It's very complete and intuitive. We have integrated it with a few tools, which make our work life easier.

Cons

Some of the latest redesigns seem less intuitive than before, but you get over it at some point and it's ok.

I've used many and it's my go to tool when it comes to official communication tool. I just love it over any other similar tool.

Pros

It's the best office communication tool I've seen around. It provides chat and meeting options, supports file sharing. Support is also great.

Cons

I've seen a bug in recent times, if I don't restart my laptop or quit Slack for a few days on my Mac, I find that I'm not able to attach files until I quit Slack app and relaunch it.

Overall, my experience with Slack has been very positive. It makes team communication quick, organized, and convenient, especially for collaborating on projects and sharing updates. The channel structure and integrations are useful, although managing notifications and keeping up with busy conversations can sometimes be challenging.

Pros

The biggest advantage of Slack is how easy it makes team communication. I liked being able to organize conversations into channels, quickly share files and updates, and keep everything related to a project in one place.

Cons

The constant notifications and volume of messages can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when you’re part of many channels. It can also be easy for important information to get buried in busy conversations.

Overall, my experience with Slack has been really good. I find it especially useful for college projects and team collaboration because communication stays organized and everything related to a project can be kept in one place. It is simple enough for regular chatting but also has features that make it useful for more serious teamwork. The file sharing and search options are probably the features I use the most. For a student working on group projects, I think Slack is definitely worth trying.

Pros

I really like how easy Slack makes it to communicate and stay updated, especially when working on college projects with a team. As a B.Tech CSE student, I often have different groups for different projects or activities, and having separate channels keeps everything much more organized than using one common chat. Sharing files, sending messages, and discussing things with teammates is also very convenient. I especially like that I can quickly search for old messages or files instead of scrolling through a long chat.

Cons

The only thing I found a little difficult in the beginning was getting used to all the different channels and notifications. If you’re part of many groups, it can sometimes feel like there are too many notifications. Once you customize the notifications and organize your channels, though, it becomes much easier to manage.

I moved from Discord because Slack felt more suitable for project work and team communication. Discord is great for casual conversations, but I found Slack more organized for keeping different projects, discussions, files, and updates in separate channels. As a CSE student, I also liked the way Slack keeps communication more focused and professional when working with classmates on assignments and projects.

Overall it's been a good experience as there are various hashtag ie Open groups and personal groups where daily weekly monthly updates can be posted and it's a good way for everyone to be connected and informed

Pros

I like the fact that I can have various chats between the same three people with different topics that way the things are sorted and not flying everywhere

Cons

The way it sorts unread messages sometimes makes me slip away the messages Maybe something can be done in that area
