The most useful features for me are arranging messages in different categories, scheduling and canvas. Pros I like the integrations it has with other platforms. The ease of use is a feature I really appreciate about the platform. Chat is fast and reliable. I like the option to schedule my messages or to share files in a quick way. There are rarely any bugs, and it is a good value for your money. I also like the app on the phone, works well Cons I don't like its customer support because they take a lot of time to respond and besides taking a lot of time, they are not very prompt to resolve issues. We’re using the Business+ plan for 30 people, and we’ve asked for help through multiple emails, but they don’t seem to care. We use multiple tools, and this is the worst tool we’ve used so far. If you have another option, we definitely suggest using any other tool that actually has support. Pros I love that Slack is fairly easy for anyone to learn to use, including my older staff members. The chat works very rapidly and makes our clinic extremely efficient at communicating without having to physically run back and forth. I love that different channels can be created for different groups. Cons We use it a bit differently than most people. Instead of setting up each Slack with a different specific user per computer, we use one email to set it up by "region" of computers since our computers are not specifically tied to one person but rather to a group of people. For example, our receptionists all share the same log in so when I want to reach out the receptionist group, I just use one chat line regardless of which of my receptionists happen to be available. Yes, it did it's job as a communication tool and the channel setup probably works well for many organizations, but I found it bothersome to remember all the commands and didn't like the overall feel of it. Pros Slack was used at our organization as a chat tool to communicate and track some project management. As a chat tool, I found it effective, though definitely not my favorite. There is absolutely a learning curve to figuring it out. Cons I did not enjoy the command prompts that Slack requires at it's core. For me, personally, commands are difficult to remember. Channels are used to separate different projects, which is a fine concept, but can very quickly become overwhelming depending on the number of channels created. Review Source BH Brooke H. Using Slack can greatly cut down on email traffic and enable rapid responses, collaboration, and transparency while holding space for it to be used asynchronously to protect focused work time and work-life balance / personal boundaries. Pros Slack enables quick, easy communication within teams and across an organization with time-saving integrations (e.g., Zoom, Trello) and features that support focus and work-life balance (e.g., set status as "at lunch" or "focused work time" to pause notifications and communicate to teammates who may be reaching out to you what is going on and when they can expect you back). Storing message history for later reference is valuable and team channels with features such as pinning messages, running polls, tagging teammates, and moving conversations into a message thread instead of the main message stream enable real-time and asynchronous information sharing while reducing distractions. Cons Sometimes my messages wouldn't download onto my mobile app as rapidly as onto my computer application, causing me to miss (or delay receipt of) messages. Additionally, while Workspaces can be useful to group different channels together, it is frustrating that you can easily miss messages to channels in one workspace while in a different workspace. It allows for great collaboration and is relatively seamless. We have several different group chats and love the service's collaborative features. Pros It's incredibly user-friendly. Easy to set up, easy to video or voice call with team members, and easy to create different groups. I also love the fun features like GIFs, as well as the more functional features like Google Calendar and Dropbox integration. Cons The only slight complaint that I have is that I wish there were a place to store files or notes of some kind. When I move from my desktop to my laptop, I find myself slacking myself any files or notes I need. The possibility of having multiple channels and groups for every type of conversation is great. Although I haven't used he customer support services yet because we haven't had any bugs or issues, I believe that its a good value for the money paid. Pros I like that you can upload good quality files and share the necessary information on time in a very easy and smooth way. They have good customer supports/many good features for collaboration and organization. It has the best integration ever. It also has notification features to stay informed about important updates and you can customize it. Pros can't tell one. This is the best communication tool ever in my workplace. Its very easy to use and has good file sharing. Searching any messages/history for last 2 years is the best feature I like. Cons One of my favorite feature is video/audio chat but i'm still having issues connecting my audio to the video chat. Its quite powerful tool though when you need a short conversation with your co-worker because you can start video chat in a sec with a few clicks. then little icon automatically shows up next to your name on Slack to show you are currently connected to someone in a video/audio chat. We've been using it for years on the free version and more recently upgraded to Pro. I love the ease of use, quick setup, options for guests, huddles - it's great! Pros I love that they make it so easy to use, even if you don't have the budget to purchase the pro version. Even the free version is great! We use it for daily communication, meetings/huddles, canvas for notes or links. We have channels for clients, topics, departments. We wouldn't survive without it. March 7, 2026 3.0 Did enjoy Slack but needed other features to be worth our entire staff communication app. Loved the ability of shout outs and gift card redemption but wanted other features like courses, knowledge base for staff, etc.. Integration with a schedule would have been a nice feature. Overall wish there were more features to use more than only just communication and being a more well rounded staff app. Pros Enjoyed the ease of different channels for specific team communication. Also, the ease of being able to "shout out" other staff members and rewarding them with points that translate to gift cards. Cons Nothing bad to say about Slack, I do just wish there were more functions to make it a complete useful app worth the monthly payment versus only communication.
