You can also monitor when their computer goes to sleep and when they are inactive. Cons One of the employees uses a MacBook Pro. This helped us quickly see across departments the work and focus of our employees Cons DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE! All they seem to care about is locking customers into auto renewal and charging for another full year, whether you are using the product or not. In my case, the business division using ActivTrak no longer existed, the service was no longer needed, and instead of working toward a reasonable resolution, they kept repeating the same contract language and avoided directly answering my questions. What frustrated me most was not just the invoice, it was the canned responses. I asked for the signed order form, the renewal details, and clear answers to specific billing questions. Instead, I got the same recycled explanation about notice periods. If you do business with ActivTrak, watch your renewal date very carefully, because once they renew you, do not expect much flexibility or a real conversation. Other than that no complaints! Pros snapshots that are instant, and discreet client and support is prompt and precise in our experience. Cons Ui is a bit dated. Whenever I’ve had questions in the past and reached out for help, I received a quick response and clear answers. I really appreciate the fast response and support. Pros I like than I can break down the activity daily and per person. I really enjoy using this system because it makes tracking and reviewing data incredibly simple and organized. I like that I can break down activity by each person, which helps me clearly see individual performance and accountability. Being able to view the data per day is extremely helpful for daily monitoring, and the weekly breakdown allows me to easily identify trends and patterns over time. I also appreciate that it provides a lot of data, including both active and inactive activity, which gives a complete picture of what is happening. Cons Overall, the employee tracking system is useful and provides a lot of detailed data, but it can be a little hard to navigate at times. When needing assistance, someone is there to help. Not used reporting, but have been able to export a list of activities. Pros I like the most that it is easy to get what i need. Im able to share information with my executives. Can export out files if needed. Our team are able to track time productivity of end users. Cons i haven't navigated enough to know what not to like. Director of Business Intelligence Marketing and Advertising Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Think Twice" October 10, 2023 1.0 We started the partnership (well we thought it was a partnership) in 2020 when our entire workforce went remote for Covid. We intended to use for productivity coaching but it became too cumbersome to be of any real value. The system never seemed to work just like it should and customer service was awful or none existent. We made the decision to leave for several reasons and even with the issues in the platform and poor customer service, they insisted on holding to the year contract they lock you into. I requested a partial refund for the remaining time and they ran me in circles for 8 full weeks (probably hoping i'd just go away) before they finally got on a call with me, just to try to upsell me more and waste my time. They say they care about a partnership but they have the legal right so no dice. I understand we have a contract but we are always willing to work with our own customers in individual circumstances and I believe we had a strong case to get a partial refund. If you look, they do an exceptional job with their digital marketing to not allow any reviews on most platforms... only on places they can pay to put their fake reviews in and real customers can't comment. That is not the practice of an honest company to me and doesn't let the consumer do real research. There are other platforms out there who do the same thing, while their UI may not be as pretty, their service and functionality ore than make up for the visual shortcomings. Pros When it worked, could view live screens or screenshots to use for productivity coaching as well as catch behaviors like job searches early. Cons Customer service was atrocious. Agressive with you to get you to buy /renew but abandon you as soon as you pay. Product never worked like it should. Alerts constantly broke. System was agonizingly slow to the point it was almost unusable unless you wanted to pay a full time person to review. The data classification system was not smart - you would expect once you classify a URL as one thing it would remember it but instead had to spend hours each week re-classifying the same thing over and over just to have the data show up correct to be able to coach the team. If you want any of the features or reporting that woudl actually maybe be helpful to give you insights and save you time... expect to shell out more money for each one. Pros What we like the most is the fact that we can categorize activities as productive or unproductive, this helps us have a more accurate report when checkin out productivity and keeps us well informed of which users are accesing unproductive websites or applications, also the fact that we can customize the schedule in which the agent keeps track of activities since a lot of our employees are woking from home using their personal devices and they can use them withough worries during their free time. Cons The installation process can sometimes be difficult as some firewalls and antivirus softwares block the agent from recording any activities, this means that even if the agent is sucessfuly installed we still don't get any records from it on that particular computer, it can be easily solved by adding exceptions to the software but not everyone is comfortable doing so since some are using their personal devices. Pros ActivTrak is fairly hidden though can be found by developers/competent IT people who know what to look for and it gives a way to be able to see after a fair amount of customising and configuring. Some elements such as seeing what is being used are useful but also we did seem to be logging quite excessively information we didn't need to capture. Cons After spending a while customizing and adding what to track we did start to wonder if this too was taking more time than the benefits and it is also worth noting that ActivTrak doesn't take into account non computer based interactions so you might see a period of inactivity when someone is actually logged into a different system or on a different task then ActivTrak is blind to this interaction. Pros I love how it integrates productivity tracking and security in one platform. This is the tool to help you manage your company effectively especially for outsourcing companies like us. It tracks the productivity of our offshore team and generates a comprehensive report that could help assess a staff or a team's needs in their operational day to day activities. Cons None. I would say that the features offered by ActivTrak are functional and beneficial. This makes sense because they are open for suggestions and they conduct webinars from time to time where they provide information about a new feature and gather information about what could possibly be a helpful feature in the future. Cons I would not recommend ActivTrak to my worst enemy. Good luck trying to cancel it when it does not work for you. I tried cancelling it and they wouldn't so I cancelled the card and now they are trying to send me a bill for a month I was not even using the software. Still working out some kinks in how to actually get exactly the info that I need, however. Pros ActivTrak is easy to install, free (for my use), and lightweight. I have it installed on the family computer so that I can track my kids' time and then categorize it. We have a system where they get rewards in the form of poker chips and then can spend them on things... like screen time. But I need to be able to differentiate between when they are on their computers doing something worthwhile (like Khan Academy) for which they are not charged any chips and then they are watching YouTube videos or playing Fortnite. That's what ActivTrak let's me do. Cons It took me a while to figure out how to get the kind of reports that I wanted out of the system. (I tried making my own based on the logs, first, and that didn't go well at all.) There are still segments of the reports that I don't understand, like an hour belonging to "system processes" or something like that. I think if I spend the effort I'll be able to categorize things like I want them to a little more automatically, but it takes a bit of effort. It does this quite well. Based on computer usage statistics provided by ActivTrak, corporate firewall rules can be adjusted to address productivity concerns. Pros This software is very easy to use and very easy to configure. A very small agent can be installed without a trace, even to the technically savvy. The web-based console does a great job with reporting up-to-date computer usage statics as well as screen shots in real-time. It does exactly what it is designed to do - see and record computer usage. Usage statistics are broken down by application/category which is helpful in determining productivity. Cons There isn't much to dislike about the software as it does what it intends to do quite well. The only difficulty I have experienced is the removal of the agent when a system falls out of the scope of monitoring. Pros Its not a cheaper solution but it is a better solution if you want more detail into what your employees are doing. It really made the owner cringe at the level of detail we can see what the employees do, he almost thought it was too invasive Cons We had some employees who were consistently missing deadlines that they shouldn't have been missing. ActivTrak enabled us to efficiently identify and address some of the employees' problematic behaviors. It worked so well that I actually installed it on my own computer to help me identify areas for improvement. Pros I liked that it really did track all of my computer usage seamlessly. Cons I found the way to categorize different applications a too cumbersome on one hand and lacking in sufficient detail on other. I wanted to use this software to accurately track how much time I spend on each customer so I would have a proven basis for billing. It is not what it is originally meant for, but the billing activity tracking apps available require too much constant involvement and I hoped to get past that by tracking all my activity automatically and categorizing it to actual projects for billing. However, trying to categorize just few days of my computer usage, it was not just feasible idea. For example, I have gmail address for my personal as well as two different customer accounts, but there was no way to categorize them differently (hint - Title in web browser is different, but this cannot be used as basis for automatic categories). I have tried more than six applications for this purpose and theirs is the best. Cons The software has a tendency to create multiple "users" (people you are tracking) for the same person. One record for the computer, another for their associated Windows/Chrome identity and sometimes others if they have multiple user accounts on the same computer. This can cause you to have 3 or more user records to track for a single person. You can group them together and use an alias, which is great, but the overall number of users reporting will affect your billing plan.
