It is so easy to set up (you don't need any training) and you can create any event with little to no difficulty. I love the tracking of emails and the reminder emails that are sent out. One of the best features is that if you have to edit the form, it will send out emails to all who have participated letting them know of the changes. It's surprising that such a software has such excellent free features! Pros I love that you are easily able to use a variety of themes or design options to match the event that you are creating. It is simple to use. I have used it for a variety of events, such as helping a family with food after a baby is born or if someone is sick, to creating time slots for appointments at school. You are easily able to select the format for your signups, whether they be by date, by slots or by single date RSVP. You can collect the participants' email addresses and ask for comments if so required. If people want to swap slots, there is the ability to allow them to do so.You can create bulk slots with the amount of items required (for example, if you are doing a pot-luck and require 5 desserts, it will show the amount of desserts left after people have chosen.There are so many options available! Cons There is not much I did not like about this software, except for all the ads with the free version. But that is to be expected and is not a huge disadvantage at all! Review Source MP Michael P. April 22, 2025 5.0 This product has taken something that was previously a pain to use and made it very simple to operate. Where we used to have pen and paper, now we have an online database that updates automatically. Pros Very easy for a very wide range of users to operate. It breaks it down in a way where young people and old can use it. Cons There are a lot of ads on the screen that can sometimes get in the way of where I am navigating. Pros SignUpGenius is great to use because once you have your sign-up set up, it is fairly easy for people to navigate. If you're planning something with people who are not as fluent with technology, it can make things easy. Cons While it can be easy to navigate once everything is set up, it can be a little tricky to navigate for initial setup. Once you have done it a few times it becomes easier. October 29, 2024 4.0 Pros What I liked most about SignUpGenius was how simple it was to organize events and get people to sign up for things. It made coordinating group activities, like parties or volunteer opportunities, super easy because everyone could see what was needed and pick what they wanted to do. SignUpGenius is the best virtual medium for allowing people to contribute together. I have used this myself many times to organize class parties or assignments. In the education field, this is the preferred platform and is not only used by me, but also the PTA, our school, and the entire district. Cons What I liked least about SignUpGenius was that the interface can feel a bit cluttered, making it hard to find what you need sometimes. Some of the options are a bit confusing. For example, when I need to make multiple entries it can be confusing choosing the correct way to do it because there are several ways to make an entry. It is more confusing if I need to have more than one sign up for a certain category. It would be nice if it was more user friendly. " February 7, 2022 5.0 SignUp Genius has made planning our events and organizing our volunteers so easy. We are able to get the volunteers needed as well as any supplies needed more efficiently. I like that the event details as well as the volunteer information is all in one place, easy for me to see and easy for our clients to see and respond. I am able to track every aspect of my event very easily and communicate with everyone on multiple platforms. I feel my event attendance has gone up since using this software and my clients appreciate how easy it is to use. I highly recommend using this for your sign up needs. Pros I like how easy it is to plan events while at the same time filling volunteer positions or needed items all in one place that is easily accessible. Cons It would be nice to have more integration with other contact platforms to be able to import more information. It keeps track of who is scheduled for which shift, if there are more than one, and provides reminders to volunteers in intervals--one week out, 2 days out and day-of. If you need to organize a group for a team effort, SignUp Genius makes it very easy to do. Pros I really like the ease of use for my volunteers to sign up. I work with a lot of volunteers that are retired and don't spend lots of time on the computer, and it's very easy for them to sign up. They like that they don't have to create an account or provide any other information to sign up beyond their email address for reminders. We source volunteers about 14-16 times per year, and this helps that process to happen seamlessly every time. Cons The ads. At the end when volunteers sign up, they are bombarded with these pop up adds for various vendors. Once you close the window, another pops up and then another and another. You have to click through 3 or 4 before it goes away. Not a fan. It can accommodate a lot of different types of signups which makes it very flexible. I would definitely recommend. Pros Our not for profit group had endless issues with volunteer tracking and recruiting. We'd use spreadsheets and word documents and it was just painful. So we started using SUG and many of our issues went away. The single best thing is that it is simple for our volunteers to sign up which is the most important thing. Our admin was also able to learn it fairly easily. Cons The free version has lots of ads so that is somewhat annoying. But the biggest weakness of SUG is the user interface. It's very old and antiquated. This isn't a huge negative but something I think the company could fix if they tried. Yes, it isn't very pretty but it does the job that you want it to do at a reasonable price. Pros It did allow use to specify the time slots that we needed to fill with our volunteers and they were able to sign up. I haven't been able to find a similar app or product that can do it with the ease of SignUp Genius. Cons The thing that could be improved is the look of it. It is not very customizable as far as how it looks to volunteers. It looks very old and sloppy. It needs a fresh clean remake. I have had large conflicts due to administrators not cross examining how information is displayed once the link is live. I want SignUpGenius to grow because as a free platform people are very familiar and connected to it. I would love to mainly use SignUpGenius for most events and coordination with groups, but it’s simply not a professional enough environment, yet. Pros People are familiar with the platform and feel comfortable navigating it compared to other products. Also it’s easily accessible by both mobile devices and computers. There is also some customization. Cons The platform is sub-par in it’s ability to collate contact information or mass communicate. April 15, 2022 5.0 We are a large organization and do lots of volunteer activities around our community. This is critical to all several of the volunteer coordinators to get professional looking messaging to the team so that we can get lots of participation! I love it! Pros The software is really easy to use and very intuitive. You can set up volunteer activities and send it to masses of people so they can go in and add their own availability. It then allows you to download the event to your personal calendar so that you don't forget. :) Cons Sometimes the sign-up screens where your invitees can look a little off and require lots of scrolling and navigating to find what you need. It is also a little annoying that each time you use it, the software tries to make you set up and account / password. " August 21, 2023 5.0 I have never had an issue using SignUp Genius and every time it works exactly how it was intended to be used. Pros I use SignUp Genius for a wide variety of uses. From birthday parties, to family gatherings, to school functions, and coaching responsibilities. The ease of creating a signup and the flexibility it has is amazing. There is not another signup I would use. Cons The thing I like the least would be all the adds but I understand they have to make money and I understand I can pay to remove them. I believe it helps organizers feel less stressed when they have an easy method like this to ask for help or gently nudge members of groups in which volunteer time is required. Pros As a user of signup genius, I appreciate the transparency of the app, how it lists exactly what type of help is requested and in what amounts. I can choose to commit to aspects that I can manage, knowing I'm able to complete the commitment, instead of agreeing to a vague volunteer time or effort. I have personal limits on my physical abilities and time, so it's very helpful to be able to choose something that I can do and feel like I'm contributing. Cons Signup genius leaves the details of signups up to the administrator, which can't be helped, but sometimes signups don't have as many details or as much transparency. SignUpGenius has been invaluable to make sure we have the proper level of coverage for each production throughout the year. Pros The most important feature is the reminder functions. The team will usually check their personal calendar and sign up for multiple events looking forward a couple of months. This has been key to making sure we have the proper coverage. If a team member should not be available, the reminder comes in plenty of time to get a replacement if necessary. Cons When trying to schedule months in advance, if would be nice to be able to just advance to the next month, instead of having to scroll through all the current months jobs to get to the next one. Teacher Primary/Secondary Education Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Excellent for Organization and Recognizable by Many " June 11, 2020 5.0 Overall, I am grateful for the ability to use SignUpGenius to organize contributions, coordinate schedules, remind participants of their agreements and responsibilities, and take most of the pain out of herding cats, or fulfilling the many roles outside of a classroom that a teacher has. Pros I first used SignUpGenius as a PTA president when my children were young. We discovered the site and implemented it for volunteer sign up at various events. At first, many were reluctant to try something new, but as they used it, they realized how convenient it truly is. Over the next few years, organizations rolled it out more and more, and now I regularly receive invitations to participate in projects as a donor or volunteer with SignUpGenius. As a teacher, I have even used it to schedule intervention sessions. I was able to indicate all of my open availability and then allow teachers to select slots for their students. It saved us hours or back-and-forth conversation and the reminders that are built into the software were helpful for ensuring that students would actually be sent to me for their meetings, which was a great improvement. Cons I feel like at some point the software became very ad-heavy, and that makes it unusable for participants. It's necessary to keep providing the service at free or low cost, but it can be nervewracking wondering if the next announcement aligns with district policies. Other than disabling ads for educators, I'm not sure how that could be worked out and still be reasonable for the company. I use it on a regular basis to create sign up pages for various classes that my company hosts. They have tons of themes and templates that you can use to customize your sign up page to fit your needs. It's comprehensive on set up as well as sign up for class attendees, the website doesn't ask for more information than name and email. They also do not require attendees to create an account to sign up which makes it easy for our company to use and keep track of class sign ups. The best part is that you can use the software for free so that's definitely a plus for me! Cons The interface isn't the easiest and most comprehensible to use on the set up side. The organization of older sign up pages is really messy and there doesn't seem to be an order to it. You would think that they'd be in order from newest to oldest, but it isn't. Plus, it doesn't seem to have an option to delete posts after so many years which would be nice. However, we use the free version of this software so considering that we aren't paying for this these are very small issues. Go to the far right of the created sign ups are, where you will notice a Gear icon. From that icon, a list of drop-down options will be available to you to show past sign ups or unpublished sign ups. You can also choose to show sign ups in ascending or descending order. To delete a sign up you created, locate the sign up in your Created sign ups area. Click the ellipsis icon (...) to the right of the sign up. You will see an option to delete the sign up. If you choose this option the next screen will confirm the deletion of your sign up.
