Pros Its easy to sign up for things for my children's classroom and also see who has signed up for what items so i know whats available. July 29, 2019 4.0 When looking for a powerful and flexible tool for managing signups for a small organization, there is no competitor out there that beats SignUpGenius. We have used other tools and tried ones that offered the moon but failed to deliver. SUG has been capable at its core competency and allowed us to drive and find ways to use it more fully and successfully. Reliable compared to other systems, it does take some time to learn if you truly want to be an expert at it - as does any system, but it is worth the time spent. Pros We use SUG for such a variety of volunteer and meeting/appointment management we have probably explored most of the features to their fullest. The flexibility to adapt the various types of signups used for different types of opportunities and extending the signups using forms and notifications is powerful. The service can handle a pretty heavy load as we've pounded it with over a hundred signups in under five minutes for things like Parent-Teacher Conferences. Cons The few types of signups you have available are powerful but not necessarily intuitive and you have to think about how you want the signup to look like and how the signup will flow for the user, leading to some trial and error when you first begin. The requirement for time slots to have a start and end time, makes it tricky to use for items that are just at a particular time, like dropping off items for a bake-sale, but other open ended signups don't read right. Particularly because our primary type of signup is time-slots, it took us a bit to get used to and understand the process of creating the day and time on which something is occurring, then add the slot that is happening at that date and time. The recent updates attempted to combine the pages on which those two steps occur, but make it even harder to intuit out how to attach the two items together. Switched from [pickAtime](https://www.capterra.com/p/172336/pickAtime/) PAT was a Java-based pain to manage and while simple for the end-user, it was ugly and had a steep learning curve meaning one employee ended up having to do everything for everyone. SUG was more easily understood and easy for teachers and other administrators to manage their items, so we could distribute the responsibility and support. I have had large conflicts due to administrators not cross examining how information is displayed once the link is live. I want SignUpGenius to grow because as a free platform people are very familiar and connected to it. I would love to mainly use SignUpGenius for most events and coordination with groups, but it’s simply not a professional enough environment, yet. Pros People are familiar with the platform and feel comfortable navigating it compared to other products. Also it’s easily accessible by both mobile devices and computers. There is also some customization. Cons The platform is sub-par in it’s ability to collate contact information or mass communicate. It is great, too, because when people see how others are helping up, it acts as positive peer pressure for them to as well. It's FANTASTIC. Pros As a planner of many events and fundraisers, this is a great first step for me to outline what is needed. It really forces you to think about the little details like stations, time one can work in a station, materials needed prior, set up and tear down, etc. before seeking help. Cons As one who has been asked to sign up, sometimes I am not allowed to change my sign up so I have to contact the administrator to do so. Likewise, when I have sent one out, not everyone can figure out how to change a sign up so I get emails asking me to fix it, which can be time-consuming. I have received great feedback from their experiences. When I need to organize a large number of volunteers or students by dates and other assignments, the platform always helps support the efforts. Pros I really like SignUpGenius for managing a large number of volunteers. I am currently working on a project where we are recruiting and organizing volunteers to signup for education outreach programs, and using SignUpGenius streamlines a lot of the logistical work. I like that it is user friendly, has customizable themes, and is inexpensive. I also really appreciate the feature that automatically reminds participants of their specific volunteer commitment. Cons The inclusion of ads when you are creating a signup page and when you are a user signing up for a commitment can be bothersome. With premium memberships you can remove ads from the signup, but there is a limit to how many signups can have ads removed. When I first needed to use SignUpGenius many years ago, the ads can make you doubt the legitimacy of the site. Pros The SignUpGenius is instrumental in our schools success of always having a teacher/administrator at each of our events. Thoughout our school year it is easy to forget something we had signed up to help with and that means that the students will suffer. With SignUpGenius we sign up for dates and it will email us reminders. Also you can go in and look at the calendar in case something comes up and you can change availability dates (If its not too close to the sign up date). It's also all in one spot. Cons Sometimes things come up last minute and you can't change you dates. But other than that it works like it should and we have very few scheduling problems/headaches. March 16, 2019 5.0 Pros Easy to use, customer friendly, ability to send mass communications Cons Cannot delete users from a signup. For me, this is a major design flaw. As a business, I don't understand why signup genius does not have a functionality for deleting users' access to signups. Even though there is a delete function, it is misleading in that users still have the ability to access signups even when they are supposedly "deleted" by accessing through their initial e-mail invite. Customer Service's response is that in order to deny access, new signups need to be created that are not accessible by "old" users. Well, this is much easier said than done. I don't want to be managing multiple signups. I use one signup as a dynamic scheduling tool for users coming on and off our schedule. Having multiple schedules targeted towards different user groups is an extremely cumbersome solution, requiring managing schedules over multiple signups- way too complicated. As a result, to me this is a major privacy issue in that unwanted users now have access to a signup, even though they are supposedly "deleted". I don't understand why Signup Genius allows this, unless they are marketing to all potential users and never want to lose the Personal Information. You can also remove participants from your groups so that they do not receive future invites associated with your sign ups/account. However, once you take the action to send an invite to a group member, there isn't a way to recall that invite that has already been sent. If the invite is sent to that group member's email account, the only way to delete that invite would be to delete the email from their account. Since SignUpGenius does not have access to the person's email account, there isn't a way to delete the access to the sign up from the invite they received, unless the sign up is deleted. We use it both for school events and for our parent organization, and it has been a great resource for coordinating volunteers and planning events. Some examples have included scheduling regular volunteers for single events, coordinating larger events (ex: Oktoberfest) which require a large number of volunteers serving in different capacities at different times, and allowing parents to sign up for parent teacher conference time slots. We've been very pleased that this has been a time saver for our school. Pros SignUp Genius is a must-have for schools. Multiple design options allow us to customize sign-ups for a wide variety of events - from Parent- Teacher conferences, to coordinating parent volunteers, to planning community events. Flexible scheduling variables allow for a broad range of events - from volunteers at a single event, to on-going events. Easy to use and adapt to each unique event. This also allows you to easily copy or duplicate a past event, which is very helpful with events that happen monthly or yearly. Cons It would be helpful if there was an easy way within the platform for volunteers to access multiple sign-ups that we have created at one time. We currently have to collect individual signup links and share them- but it would be useful to have a landing page for our organization where we could collect multiple events in one easy place. Pros I use signup genius on a weekly basis to manage students to sign up for lessons and also for volunteer tutors to choose times they would like to volunteer in. Signup genius is incredibly easy to use as it is very user friendly. The features are self explanatory. Those who are not familiar with this software would be able to figure out how to use it relatively easily. After using signup genius I find that planning for lessons is a lot easier as it is an easy and efficient way to gather the information (volunteer times in my case). I have also used signup genius to sign up for volunteering times. It is very simple and easy to use! Therefore, on both a planning and user's perspective this software is very well made and easy to use. No previous knowledge required and setting up a volunteering time page does not take long. Cons I don't have anything negative to say about signup genius. I've always really liked using signup genius. One thing would maybe for the designers of the website to look into the aesthetics of the website. ONLY a suggestion. I personally used them to schedule appointments with my students and for event RSVP's. I loved using it to schedule appointments, because it allowed me to indicate only my available times; each user was able to book only one time; and no other users were able to pick already chosen options. Their interface isn't very user friendly and user appealing though; I wish they have more customization options available. Pros \- its a very easy to use application (easy to use for organizers and participants) - great to use to sign up people to events, appointments, meetings - mass email communication feature (thought I haven't been using it much, because isn't delivered from your actual email address) - its free! We currently support uploading email addresses from Gmail, AOL, Yahoo, Windows Live accounts, Outlook and CSV files. If your emails are not in an address book or are in an address book that is not supported, we recommend that you export the email addresses into Excel from your mail program. You can then copy the column of email addresses and paste them into the SignUpGenius input box. Please make sure you copy email addresses only with no names.
