You only have to send out one link for people to be able to access a handful of sign ups. Members can also request to switch times with another member or leave comments for all who have access to see. The repeat function is also a time saver. There is another feature where you can hide past dates making a reoccurring sign up easy to navigate for users. Cons There are times when navigating a sign up can be difficult while creating it, for instance creating a sign up for volunteers when it is open for them to come in on their own time. Pros I like the fact that it can track who has volunteered to help or donate for any function and you can see at any time where you may need more help Cons Sometimes setting up a new sign-up for a big event takes time but it is worth the time to get things set up right the first time. If, for example, you want students to sign up to work in a limited number of groups, whether or not a specific date is involved, and you don't want to have to pay for a service, then SignUpGenius is a great choice. One helpful hint: use a URL shortener on the distribution links that SignUpGenius provides, as they are quite long and unwieldy. Pros If you're looking for a straightforward way to allow people (in my case, students) to claim slots in a "first come, first served" fashion, SignUpGenius is a good choice, as it offers a free, ad-supported version that does not require registration. Most features are enabled with a few things hidden behind their paywall, but I've never found the basic offerings to be lacking. You can choose your own "theme" and color scheme and customize the sign-up to your heart's content before distributing. Cons The ad-supported version is a bit dated-looking--the templates are all fairly "blah" with an aesthetic highly reminiscent of the 2000s (poor spacing, minimal attention to design). The controls for setting up a signup are somewhat confusing, too, in that they are arranged in a "wizard"-style fashion, so initial choices will affect later decisions--which can mean you have to backtrack or start all over if you discover you make a mistake. We use it for setting up all of the volunteer opportunities in my child's school. It makes the process much less cumbersome. No one needs to keep a separate spreadsheet and we can all see who is volunteering when so if we need to switch we know who to ask! Cons A bit confusing when setting up a new Sign-Up. January 15, 2020 5.0 Our school system uses sign up genius to organize donations, party planning, and volunteers. I've used it many times to "sign up" for things for both of my children's classes and have had nothing but a good experience. A +++ Pros The concept of this organizational tool is just way over do. I cannot imagine what a time saver it must be for so many different industries. It streamlines a whole process that is incredibly time consuming but necessary. I could also see the value in using this software as an individual for fundraising events or even just party planning. On the user side of this software I love that it is pretty much self serve. I can view all of the options available to me, as well as what others doing, and "sign up" without ever having to get in contact with any administrators. I also love that I am automatically sent a reminder. Just a side note, sign up genius works extremely well in conjunction with Class Dojo in the school setting. I think you get a ton of value for the money. Cons The only thing I can really see as a con in using this software is that it is impersonal, but that could also be viewed as good thing, as it is pretty much self serve you as the "host" no longer have to delegate or mediate who's doing what or who's bringing what! I have also used this for parent teacher conferences and I have had many parents participate in signing up. Pros The ease of use, and easy set up of what I needed. I loved the feature of sending me an email once a parent signed up for an item. Cons The email input features. Having to input each email was a struggle. It is easy to use. Pros Sign Up Genius is simple to use. There is not you can get wrong with Sign Up Genius. It's easy to train someone how to use it. You are able to create a list of what people are needed where and the time needed. It also allows you to put specific items if you are doing a sign up for people to bring a particular item for a party or event. You can send our reminder emails. Which saves times in making phone calls to remind people. You can also share the sign up link via email, text, etc. Pros I like that it is very easy to create sign ups. There are templates/themes to use if you are not savvy in creating your own sign up. I like that you can customized your sign ups as well as copy a pre existing one, then edit or change dates and times as needed. I also like the fact that you can print the sign up off. Cons I have used this for years. I have no cons. I recommend this for any event that you have to help you keep things organized. It does exactly what you want it to do, whether it is leveraging it for parent-teacher conferences, to reserving space, or even a meal train - SignUp Genius makes it easy. Cons Most people utilize the free version of SignUp Genius and with that comes lots of Ads incorporated on your set up pages. I’m extremely happy with the outcomes of the whole process and how even our most technically-challenged staff can easily use it! Pros This software is incredibly user-friendly, organized and informational. When we have projects that need to be delegated and selected, we use sign up and we can first choose which project we want to work on. It shows me who has already signed up, the categories and how many slots are left to fill. Sign-up has made our project-building teams so easy and hassle-free. Cons I haven’t had any concerns or problems arise while using sign-up. I’m not aware if there is an app available, but that would be the only opportunity of improvement in my opinion. You can set your own availability and can easily contact folks who have signed up. Cons Having more customizable features would be nice, but overall I have very few complaints about SignUp Genius. We use SignUpGenius at work for our Spring and Fall walking groups. Signing up is easy for all levels of technological skill. Cons My one complaint would be the way it sends you a calendar invite after. Instead of sending you a calendar invite that can be added to your daily outlook calendar, it sends you its own separate outlook calendar. I don't need to be managing more than one calendar. Pros I like how flexible and customizable this is as an admin to set up. As a user it's very simple and easy to use. Cons Setting up appointments/times can be confusing. Better help function would be nice when I need specific information or assistance on something as an admin. As a user I love that I can have a free account so that I can come back to see my sign ups. It was great! Pros First of all, it's free! It's very easy to use. You can be very detailed about what you need, like, certain times when we need a specific amount of volunteers. Highly recommended! Pros I LOVE this program. It is very customizable to your needs and I have used it for donations, meal sign ups, volunteer shifts and so much more. It is wonderful that you can import your Google contacts to make the communication process easier. You are also able to have reminders automatically sent out to people who have signed up, which saves times and automates the process. Cons It is hard to complain when you are utilizing a system like this for FREE but if I could make any changes to this program it would be to make it more intuitive and modern looking.
