Amazing. I genuinely have really only good things to say about the entire platform. Its robust, powerful, and allows anyone from novice to expert, to do what they need to get done.

Pros

Everything. Datadog is one of the most customizable, flexible, and malleable software suites that I have ever had the pleasure of using, and currently use. Amazing value for the money - you can get started on a ton of stuff for free, or extremely low cost - under $50.00. Customer support is great and they respond quickly - platform is super easy to use and the GUI is intuitive. Log searching andd data analysis are the strongpoints of Datadog - you can take an insane amount of data, and distill it quickly. You can do dev work as well in Datadog, and monitor pipelines. Datadog can also act as a SIEM and a log management solution for an EXTREMELY low barrier/cost to entry.

Cons

It is COMPLEX. I mean very, very complex. There are things that are extremely easy to use in Datadog, but overall, the entire suite is very sophisticated and complex. Some of the internal documentation isn't updated very often, so that you occasionally have setup instruction mismatches between their page and vendors.

Datadog has become a core part of how we run and observe our backend. It replaced stitching together separate metrics, logs, and tracing tools with one correlated platform, which shortened incident resolution and gave the team much better visibility into production. The main thing to stay on top of is cost, but the depth and reliability have made it worth it for us.

Pros

Datadog gives us a single pane of glass across our whole stack. I can jump from an APM trace to the exact logs and the host and container metrics behind a request without switching tools, which makes debugging production issues in our backend much faster. The dashboards are flexible, the out-of-the-box integrations covered almost everything we run, and monitors with alerting into Slack mean we usually hear about problems before users do. Distributed tracing across services has been especially valuable as our architecture grew.

Cons

Pricing is the big drawback: costs can climb quickly and unpredictably as you add hosts, custom metrics, and log ingestion, so you have to actively manage what you send. The sheer number of products and settings has a real learning curve, and getting sampling and index filters right takes effort. The UI can also feel heavy and occasionally slow when querying very large time ranges.

Datadog is a stable tracking platform that provides our IT department with full visibility of our software infrastructure. It helps us to detect and correct lag or server crashes before students notice them on the portal.

Pros

It offers quick dashboards, with live data of all our campus cloud servers and student databases, all on one screen. Only a few minutes are required to setup the monitoring agents and we have pre-built integrations for cloud infrastructure that help our IT team to save a lot of manual configuration time.

Cons

As a large number of host servers and data logs are created, they grow in price significantly, making it difficult to operate on a low university budget.

Datadog has been dependable and easy to work with. It gives clear, real‑time insight into systems, and once dashboards and alerts are set up, it makes monitoring and troubleshooting much smoother.

Pros

Datadog gives clear, real‑time visibility into systems and apps. Dashboards are easy to read, alerts are fast, and it pulls everything into one place so issues are easier to spot and fix.

Cons

It can get expensive as you add more features and data. Some dashboards take extra tuning to get right, and the amount of metrics can feel overwhelming at times.

comprehensive monitoring platform that delivers strong visibility across complex infrastructures. Once past the initial learning curve it becomes an essential tool for keeping systems healthy and catching issues before they escalate into bigger problems. The log management ..APM to infrastructure monitoring , they all make it a well-rounded solution for teams that need full-stack observability in one place.

Pros

The real-time monitoring and observability across the entire infrastructure was a standout — being able to see logs, metrics, and traces all in one place made troubleshooting significantly faster. The dashboards were highly customizable and gave a clear picture of system health without having to jump between multiple tools. The alerting system was also reliable and easy to configure, making sure the right people were notified the moment something looked off.

Cons

The initial setup and configuration had a steep learning curve, particularly when it came to building custom dashboards and writing more advanced queries from scratch. Some of the more granular alert configurations could get complicated and required a solid understanding of the platform before getting them right. The sheer volume of features can also feel overwhelming at first, making it hard to know where to start without proper onboarding or documentation.

Overall, my experience with Datadog has been very positive. It provides a comprehensive observability platform that brings together metrics, logs, and traces in a cohesive way, making it easier to monitor and troubleshoot systems. The interface is powerful and flexible, allowing for deep insights into application performance and infrastructure health. While there is a learning curve and costs can grow quickly, the value it delivers in terms of visibility and efficiency is significant. It has become an essential tool for maintaining reliability in complex environments, helping teams detect and resolve issues faster with greater confidence.

Pros

What I like most about Datadog right now is how seamlessly it brings everything together—metrics, logs, traces, and security—into a single, unified platform. It makes troubleshooting faster because you can move from a high-level view down to granular details without switching tools. The dashboards are highly customizable and visually clear, which helps both technical and non-technical teams stay aligned. I also appreciate the breadth of integrations and how quickly new features are rolled out. Overall, it feels like a mature, reliable observability solution that scales well with growing infrastructure and increasingly complex environments.

Cons

I honestly have no negative feedback to give. Datadog works great and I will keep using it. Keep it up
