Comments: excellent customer service support from Optimis PT - they responded w/in an hour or less when a support ticket was submitted, and it was always a PERSONAL reply, directly relating to the issue in question; not an email referring you to a link on their support page

Pros: I used OptimisPT at a clinic I worked at previously, and liked the fact that there was so much ability to customize the software - there is much more flexibility in both the assessment and the treatment section to customize so that you do a minimum of typing and just click drop down menus. It is not immediately intuitive, but that is true of any software that has a lot of functionality. Once you get the hang of it, it is elegant and easy to use.

Cons: I really can't think of much negative to say about Optimis - it is a great product; it just costs more than other things on the market. I just started my own practice, and got WebPT because it was cheaper than OptimisPT, and it is widely used by other clinics - although I did do a one hour "demo" with the sales team, it wasn't until I started using WebPT that I realized it doesn't have nearly the depth and breadth of customization - there is NO customization available in the treatment section, and I do NOT do "factory" PT where everyone does a lot of standard exercises and modalities. Getting WebPT was the biggest mistake I did in my practice.

Too detailed ... takes too long to do clinical documentation ...

Pros: Optimis is very thorough , which gives you confidence that documentation will be compliant ; however, on the down side ... it takes way too long to document an evaluation due to the plethora of drop down menus.

Cons: Again, too thorough ; not efficient w/ time management ; takes 30 min to do an evaluation . Needs to be more user friendly and quicker to get paperwork done in timely fashion.

Overall: thorough / but not efficient

Comments: I have been using OptimisPT for almost 4 years and have been happy with the level of support, comprehensiveness of notewriting and compliance with Medicare. It is cloud based, so aside from a few programming glitches, it has been a great EHR program.

Pros: It couples with Duxware for billing and accounting; responsive support team; prints HCFA 1500s; allows ease with electronic Medicare/secondary payer accounting; in program faxing; email/text reminders,; Nice looking patient reports.

Cons: Would like to have greater ease in printing end of year patient statements as it does not order by date. Would like it to be mobile/ipad friendly--does bet on a laptop or desktop.

Recommendations to other buyers: While it is not the cheapest for front end PT staff costs, it saves you on the back end during patient accounting and electronic insurance handling. If you do Medicare, then it is a winner. It is worth while to inquire about export/import capabilities or archived chart viewing when leaving or joining the OptimisPT community.

Comments: Built in scheduling, docs, and billing functionality are convenient and specific to physical therapy.

Pros: The built in schedule, documentation, billing, make sense. The built in appointment reminders for patients is nice feature. Pay by volume, fits the bill during slower times.

Cons: Would like to have ability for more administrative function. (More customization options for payer types, etc.).

Comments: Optimis has been less than helpful in their willingness to integrate with other software. 90% of the other major web-based EMR companies have integrated with this pt retention and pt satisfaction software, but optimis has chosen not to. Our therapy company would benefit from the integration and we have emailed and called constantly about the timing of the integration and get the company line of "we have been in talks, but have not committed to pursuing anything yet".

Pros: Is user-friendly from a clinician standpoint.

Cons: Unwilling to integrate with other software that is available and 90% of other EMR's have already integrated.

Great, user friendly software and excellent customer service!

Pros: So easy to use, it's pretty self explanatory. It helps prevent you from making mistakes on your "Off" days.

Cons: I wish there was a built in billing software, it would make it much more efficient and save so much time.

Pros: They offer instant answers to questions and problems There is direct line or email to support. It's confident about compliance and is easy to use.

Cons: I dislike the complex evaluation and the flow sheet for treatments (although they are working to improve the flow sheets).

Recommendations to other buyers: Review multiple systems to compare, and ask a lot of questions.

Pros: Strong adherence to Medicare compliance, thoroughness of documentation, relative ease of use after steep learning curve.

Cons: Unexpected crashes that can totally derail one's day.

Recommendations to other buyers: Determine how important it is in your practice to provide thorough, defensible documentation. If these things are important, then OptimisPT is the gold standard.
