With our previous system we had reached the limit of its capabilites but with NetSuite we know there is plenty more features and functions that we are not currently utilising, for us to take advantage of as our business continues to grow. Pros THe amount of time I now save executing reports. My previous system I used to spend 80% of my time creating data sets and only 20% utilising, now this is the other way around. Cons We are a small business and it took a lot of our resource to implement. The partner we were paired with to do the initial implementation had little to no experience working with a business similar to ours which was challenging at times. We ended up hiring in a specialist project manager with NetSuite experience to support our integration which I would recommend. Director Inventory and Planning Retail Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Overly complicated and not the product for us." October 14, 2024 1.0 This was a terrible experience from the get-go. Our CTO adopted NetSuite and it was clearly not the right choice from our business. It started with the lack of training. I think we had 2 training sessions over 6 months for the merchandising team. It slowed down the definition process of our catalog so that what used to take 10 minutes in the previous ERP took 3 hours. With many fields mapped to obscure auto index #s for definitions you had to build a decoder ring to keep them all straight. Basically everything we learned to do in Netsuite came from Google or YouTube. All of the menus were different depending on which role you had so cross-training between departments was impossible because people had to get to the same task via different paths. The filtering on reports was flawed and the Import/export menus kept so much history you had to scroll just to find the latest import/export only to be told it was still processing. The only rapid response you got from the team was when it was time to pony up another 250K for renewal. We probably had 5-6 different account people in charge of our account over the course of the 18 months we had the program. Just a terrible experience for us. Would give it zero stars if I could. Pros Lots of options to create reports and define items. Cons Very Difficult to integrate and overly complicated. It slowed down our overall processes and a lot of the logic did not make sense when defining items. It isn't good when they tell you to use a different program to help with the definition process. It is very expensive as well especially when the training is so poor that all you wind up using it for is glorified accounting. April 25, 2024 4.0 Pros NetSuite offers true MRP for the Manufactuirng company that has outgrown spreadsheets or other informal processes. With the added integration of CRM, Projects, etc. it is possible to migrate several systems into one integrated solution. Cons Migrating from another financial system is difficult and tedious. Garbage in - garbage out so it must be done well. If you are just starting a new business, it might be worth thinking of the future and implementing something like NetSuite from the start rather than starting with something simpler and then migrating. " October 13, 2023 5.0 I love using NetSuite, this is my second time in a full cooperate environment to manage NetSuite full time. NetSuite has allowed me to combine my app/web development skills and IT Skills and make a guy who without a college degree, move the ladder to become a Director of Information Systems. This is a great way to get your company on trac. It is not a fix all and end all be all, but the truth is, that if it is functioning, and if you let it do what it does, and you put in your effort, this will allow you to get control of in incontrollable. Pros I love the visibility and functionality. I love how it is not set in stone. While there are functions that are locked and scripts and such, they are all able to be customized without having Oracle Engineers involved. But that said, if it does involve their engineers, it will still most likely be customizable. I am able to mirror the system that my company was previously using to NetSuite. This is great to get users who have been using a system for 30 years to get into this system with ease. Cons The only thing I dislike, is that there are a few things that are set in stone. Those require to get the engineers involved, but even then, it is not a deal breakers. It's easy to pick up and use, flexible enough to work in any circumstance, and facilitates precise, real-time communication amongst team members. Cons After some practice, using NetSuite is straightforward. Once you're familiar with how everything in NetSuite fits together, it's a breeze to use. However, it occasionally requires technical assistance, which might disrupt your operations, just like other Oracle systems. Pros Ease of accessibility for this tool has enabled real-time collaboration and flexibility for our business with remote teams from multiple locations. It can accommodate the growth of transactions, users and data volume without requiring significant hardware upgrades through its highly scalable features. Owner Retail Used the software for: 2+ years ### "NetSuite seems to want my business to fail rather than succeed" May 1, 2024 2.0 The decision to move to NetSuite was difficult. It was extremely expensive for our small company (4 of us at the time), but the features were robust and we felt like it could grow with us. We were talked into additional features at added costs (Premium Support and ACS) that we have regretted purchasing (they were unable to delivery anywhere close the value promised, mostly because of bureaucratic processes that only served to waste our time). NetSuite does not care at all that we are unhappy customers. I like to think of our service providers as being part of my team -- they will help me succeed and in turn that will help them succeed. NetSuite does not care at all about whether we are successful, and instead seems only to want to squeeze every last penny out of us. At this point we have spent so much time and money on NetSuite that we are reluctant to move our business. We keep hoping that our investment will one day pay off, but are usually left cursing NetSuite rather than praising it. Pros NetSuite has a lot of capabilities. I am confident that if we invested enough in the system, it could handle all of our needs. Cons NetSuite is clunky and not user friendly. It is not designed for small business, where each employee wears multiple hats. We are 7 people, and most employees have to switch between roles daily to accomplish their goals. When we reach out to NetSuite for help or suggestions, they do not treat the relationship as a service provider who wants us to grow and be successful. Instead, they try to squeeze every dollar out of us. They consistently under-deliver on time-sensitive outcomes, and try to sell us upgrades we don't need and can't afford. Our account manager is delightful, but has no authority to help us in any capacity. Every B2B transaction is extremely difficult (including us paying NetSuite). When we try to lean in on NetSuite services, we find they are unable to deliver what was promised, and are unwilling to negotiate or apologize for their own shortcomings and mistakes. Of course except for the signal issues and database access I mentioned above. But overall, my use of the netsuite app really helps us to efficiently communicate with potential customers with ease. And makes us sure everything is logged and well documented Pros I like that we are able to communicate to our current and potential clients, as well as to our suppliers without hassle. All info, templates and previous conversations are in one placem If another person is going to attend to their concerns, no need for lots of instructions, just need to go through netsuite and everything is there. It also has lots of features that I didn't expect. Especially the trend and reporting analysis, it helps us see how many customers we are serving so we can better manage them. We can also get back to the last task the previous user has worked on. If any problem occurs, rhe customer service is ready to help and is very accommodating. Cons I just love the app. Only that i sometimes have poor signal when I'm at an remote area. The problem is that the database cannot be uploaded when theres no signal. So if I needed to go through my tasks or call a customer, I need to go to a place where the signal is good so i can do that. It has all the functionality you want, you can integrate any system which you need to and you develop a lot of trust in the system. The only downside is the commercials and the extra costs which come along. Pros NetSuite is an easy to use, highly customisable product. As each week passes, my confidence in the system grows and I am able to use it more efficiently. If you know what you want the system to do, you will be able to implement or later customise it for your purposes. There are hundreds of native 3rd party apps which are available to use in NetSuite which is very convenient. There is a great training catalogue for self learning and a support self-help where you can find answers in previous support tickets which has been very helpful. Cons The biggest downside to NetSuite is the business model. A lot of the features are bundled into modules and you have to pay additional subscription in order to use them. When doing the initial sales and scoping call, you may assume some functionality would be standard but only to find out only a very basic functionality is available and then you end up paying more than planned. We do have a consultant who we work with weekly to help us with this things because it is not easy to create a lot of these customizations on our own. I would love the ability to create reports and saved searches without a consultants help. Pros I like that Netsuite has so many fuctions to customzie to your business needs. I like that Netsutie integrates with many outside apps or tools for better interface. It provides room for various stages of growth for a company. I like that Netsuite also provies opportunities for professional growth and networking. Cons Implemenation was not the best. We needed more expertise on the products that made sense to our business. We are finding that our billing module is not the right fit and will have to implement a new billing module which will cost of more time and delay our growth we could have had from the beginning. Some of the functionalities that should be basic are still needed to be customized such as reports for AR, unbilled and deferred revenue. Overall, Netsuite has several advantages and relatively user friendly. I have helped many clients implement Netsuite as their main reporting & management tool, and overall, they are all quite satisfied. Pros Once you learn the ins & outs and caveats with netsuite, you can create just about any kind of operational, management, and finance report, with lots of options for data distribution and visualization. Once you know how it works, it's an excellent tool. It has many data retrieval options as well. So, if you're an excel based organization - it can pull the data directly into excel. Very logical to use and strait forward. Cons It has its quirks just like any other reporting system. Takes a LOT of learning to get up and going as an admin, but basic users won't have much problem. We felt like we were taken advantage of, and because it was such an ordeal to get all of our data into NetSuite we stuck it out for about 2 years. We finally switched to Aplos which is designed for Non profit and specifically Christian non profits and we love it! Pros There were no Pros that I ever found. It was NOT designed for nonprofit, but I think they just thought they could sell it to those organizations and not service them. Cons No help at all unless you pay for it. Even after we tried paying for help, it was difficult to get answers because NetSuite was not designed at all for Nonprofit. One of its outstanding features is the integration of client billing with time sheets, a very important function that helps in financial audits and eliminates the need to use multiple applicatons. Pros NetSuite is one of the best operational flow managers I've tested, it offers a robust solution for inventory management, allows for detailed tracking of items across multiple locations, a significant improvement over older systems that had limited capabilities. The platform also excels at customizaton, allowing users to customize dashboards and reports for specific needs. You can incorporate various elements such as lists, search forms, recent records, and trend charts to create a dashboard that works for every need. Cons Using NetSuite has been a mixed experience for me. While comprehensve, the platform's loading time is frustratingly slow, especially when it comes to the timesheet approval workflow and custom report generation. This slowness affects our entire organization. Also, the complexity of the software requires formal training sessions, which can be a hurdle for new users. To top it off, there is no trial version available and the subscription plans are quite expensive. There are functions on the platform that make a lot of the operational workload easier especially when it comes to reports. Accounting Manager Consumer Goods Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "From the 1990s Terrible and Convoluted" April 10, 2024 3.0 Horrible and lost a small fortune for something that never gave us accurate costing or reporting. Moved the company off of netsuite to QBO Advanced combined with A2X and Flowtrac manufacturing and now have an automated tech stack more easily ran by a small accounting department in a fast paced industry. Pros It does order costing and advertises itself as a complete ERP system. I've heard it can work well for very large companies with large accounting teams and lots of money to put towards consultants to get it running properly. Cons Ease of use- it's like dial up internet from 1990, extremely slow, patchy and missing information. Even data imports take hours on end. You can tell this is just a cash cow product for Oracle that hasn't been updated. CFO Construction Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Lacks Fundamental Accounting Functionality and Reporting." October 18, 2023 1.0 Horrible experience. We regret our decision to purchase this software every single day. With the exception of 1 person, every single daily task takes almost double the time and we have no confidence that it is right. Our checks are so poorly formatted that it is embarrassing. Our aging reports cannot be customized, so they have us using a saved search that changes weekly without anyone knowing why which has been going on for over 5 months now. Their team were unfamiliar with the concept of retainage, did not know what a check remittance was for or why one was needed, and further did not know how to create a check register. If you are looking for the most basic accounting reports, I would highly recommend that you do not purchase this software. Pros This software was sold to us under false claims that it would work for our industry (construction), that it would increase efficiencies, and that its reporting was fully customizable to give us the flexibility to build the reports that we want. If any one of these claims, let alone all of those claims were true, that would be the pro. Cons Where do I begin. This software is horrible. They lack the basic knowledge necessary to even understand what the customer wants, even the most basic of accounting concepts and reports pose a problem for their team. Not only do they not understand construction accounting, but they further failed to understand the most basic of reports, such as a check register, a check remittance, an Accounts Receivable Aging Report, Retainage Receivable, and Job Costing. They sold us this software claiming to have a solid construction solution, only to find out that they MIGHT have 1 other construction customer, as they confessed during our last call. I have 20 years experience working in public accounting and as controller/CFO for construction companies. I am very familiar with the vast majority of other software products on the market and this is by far the worst. It feels like we are in a laboratory being experimented on because they don't understand what we want and what we need. We contacted several other users as part of our due diligence, but you are only allowed to speak to people that they select and they must be present so I can only imagine this is because they pre-screen those calls to make the sale. Reason for choosing NetSuite Our decision was based solely on their sales pitch, which sounds great but is far from the reality of the software's capabilities. These claims included a fully integrated CRM package that would convert leads to quotes to contracts, and automate the process of then setting customers and jobs in our system. We were also mislead to believe that they had great experience in the construction industry and that everyone's jobs would be more efficient and in real-time. Their project management module was supposed to be top notch in both functionality as well as reporting, and their sales team really pushed the ease of use of their software. The sales pitch sounds great, but it just is not reality. When you hear managers and tech support reps from their company saying stuff such as, the reporting in the software sucks, or we understand it is a problem but we cannot change how the software was designed, you cannot help but feel disappointed. It was presented that we want an A/R Aging report that shows the open balances sorted by salesman and job with our collection notes; but their response was we use the same thing for our company but this software does not have a report like this nor can one be created. It took my team hours upon hours explaining why retainage should be shown seperately from the other aging categories but they do not understand how or why. It used to take my team all of 15 minutes to post the daily deposits with no problems, but it now takes an hour plus. Pros After years of using various ERP systems, my top pick is NetSuite. It's adaptable and simple to utilize across all sectors. The only things I think require improvement are the fixed assets repots and the billing schedules. Pros 1\. The option to see the reports on a consolidated level 2. Reporting and the option to customize report is amazing 3. Search line 4. The ability to edit transitions 5. Advanced IC JEs Cons 1\. Billing schedules are very challenging- for example quarterly billing for 2 years and for 1 year requires 2 different billing schedules, the system can only divide the quantity for non annual billing schedules etc. 2. No as of date vanilla report to track Inventory in transit and accrued expense related to inventory received where an invoice was not received. 3. Fixed assets module reporting- for example if an asset was sold the accumulated depreciation would show on the same column as the depreciation for the period.
