I can say that intellij idea is the best developer supportive IDE I found among all of them. Pros IDE can be integrated with multiple frameworks like hibernate, spring and android. I mainly do spring boot development and so that I'm using this every day for my office works and my personal studies as well. This supports build tools like maven and gradle, different languages, plugins and tools. Cons This consume considerable amount of resources and that's the only thing I see as a drawback. Pros I have been using idellij idea as a IDE for Java web development along with my team members, it's a great tool if you are going to do Java development, it provides template for new app from scratch, builtin feature like maven and gradle make your work lot easier. You can explore project in different way, project view, package view. Plugin support is great, you can get extra functionalities by just adding plugin. As lot of people use itellij idea for Java projects as compare eclipse so you get lot of online community support. Cons You need a powerful machine to run itellij idea, it's heavy tool and run slow sometime when indexing files. Cons It's a bit expensive and there are peers which are very good and free to use, like for example VS Code. The autocompletion, and error checking is second to none. Cons Sometimes when it lost connection (access token) to github it randomly asks for the password again, without giving proper context. I love the feature set and couldn't find something better than this. Pros Intellij supports a wide range of plugins like sonar lint, lombok, junit and git and docker. Those can be installed from plugin marketplace according to the preference. It has multiple build tools gradle, maven and ant and I mostly use maven with intellij. Most important thing is it supports spring boot and its dependency injection. Other than springboot, I use intellij for angular frontend development as well. Pros IntelliJ IDEA is the IDE behind Android Studio. For people that program both in kotlin/Android and some other language, having to learn only one tool for all his/her needs is a big increment of the productive flow. The advanced refactoring, numerous editor options and great VCS/build tool integration helps a ton as well. Can't say enough about how much I love this software. Cons A small annoyance with it is dealing with the licensing, it'd be nicer if they let you keep versions up until your subscription lapses instead of "downgrading" you. I can say that this is the best IDEA for Java development. Even for other languages this is still a great IDEA. For a long time this IDEA was better and faster than Visual Studio, but recently that difference is fading due to Visual Studio that is speeding up fast. Pros ease of use fast Like the name, it is very intelligent, and that helps you to write good code quick. Cons Windows integration can be better. Integration with Team Foundation Server(TFS) is not good. IntelliJ says it should be good, but my experience tells otherwise. The DB client the ultimate edition comes equipped with was a major plus as a full-stack dev. It allows you to stay in the same work space and prevents you from having to toggle apps. You can customize the way you want your applications to be run easily preventing the hassle of endless configurations. Cons Like many IDEs it suffers from the usual cluttering of items in the several toolbars and menus. This is easily fixed by customizing them for what you want or need to easily access. I switched from a text editor, but there are so many more features available. Once you've spent some time using it and customizing it, it will be hard to quit using IntelliJ. Pros There is a plugin, feature, or tab for just about anything related to programming. There is a dedicated debugger, it's possible to set up multiple run time environments, and if IntelliJ doesn't include a feature you're looking for, there is probably a plugin for it. Cons It is extremely overwhelming if to use at first if you have never used an IDE. There is just too much going on in the IDE upon install, and there really isn't a tour to show how to use all the features. I made a really good decision by using this software. I liked the fact that I could customize the UI and use my own themes and plugins. The preparation to build Minecraft plugins was really easy and fast, I loved that. I really recommend using IntelliJ IDEA to develop Minecraft plugins/mods. Pros I liked because they provide a yearly free subscription for college students, which really helped because I needed a free/cheap IDE to try out my Java skills. The option I liked the most to practice Java was by making Minecraft plugins, and IntelliJ IDEA helped me with that. Cons I unfortunately encountered some bugs when I tried to move my IntelliJ IDEA data from one device to another and couldn't set it up correctly so I had to reinstall the app on my new device. Pros First of all, it can be used for multiple languages and platforms especially the premium Ultimate Edition. Can be used for both Front End and Backend development projects. Database management tools are integrated into the system. Most favorite features of this IDE are better Auto Code Completion, powerful debugging tools, version control system similar to git, fast code searching, helpful shortcuts commands A ton of Plugin ecosystem provides helpful add-ons making it efficient and productive. The User Interface is very user-friendly and smooth which helps in settings and configurations. Cons It is heavy in resources because it contains various features sometimes loading takes time especially during building projects. Too many updates can be frustrating but it helps to make it bug-free for us. The Ultimate edition is a bit expensive. But a free trial is available.
