Software Enginner Computer Software Used the software for: 2+ years ### "A professional and stable tool for Java-based development" September 6, 2019 5.0 For 3 years, it has been my day-to-day tool for development - my job is mostly focused on software enginnering using the Java platform. IntelliJ helps me improve my coding speed and correctness compared to other IDEs or simpler code editors. Also it helps me automate many processes with can get tedious easily if done manually. Pros I think IntelliJ supports all of the features you may expect from a professional Java IDE. It is a super stable tool that helps you boost your productivity. On top of that it also has support for a variety of extra languages via plugins, so it's not just about Java. Cons I tend to dislike big IDEs since they simply have too much things stuffed in them: one hardly uses 10% of that. Also they add complexity and computing overhead, however with IntelliJ I've found a good balance of simplicity and resources consumption not found elsewhere. I only dislike the startup time - it's high. If they could offer its capabilities layered (eg. minimal, standard, pro, advanced, etc.), that would be great. Review Source Garrett F. Pros Not even Visual Studio can rival all the fantastic features of this product It's not memory intensive and I've never had it crash on me. Customization options are numerous and the search feature for them is super handy. It's ability to parse dynamic JavaScript including any library you can install and throw at it makes it the best IDE for modern web development Cons Not much to be honest, the latest version had some bugs but I just rolled back to the previous and it was all good. Pros The functionality of this product is really good. I have used several IDE's for java development in the past and this one so far is the best. It makes coding very flexible and efficient. The suggestions it provides during the coding is super helpful. For example, the auto suggestion/correction feature is one of my favorite. Cons It takes lots of memory of your computer when its running. So make sure you allocate sufficient memory when setting up the first time. Otherwise It will make your computer really slow. January 18, 2018 5.0 Pros It makes working with Java and other JVM languages super simple. Lots of plugins and customization to make development easier and faster. Great support for the Kotlin language (which is also developed by JetBrains). Ultimate edition has great integration with Spring and other popular frameworks. Git (and other VCS) integration is nice. Solid integration with the major build tools: Ant, Maven, Gradle, sbt. Nice database integration. Cons Can be a little heavy weight, but that's the trade-off for all of the features. Pros It's my first choice for IDE as a backend developer even with community edition, the enterprise is amazing but worth paying that much money I guess. It's compatible and intolerable with almost every plugin for other than Java/Scala. The features in Ultimate edition I like most are refactor multiple lines of codes directly into a new method without even writing single line of code, features like formatting/auto completion and integrity with tools like prettier (for formatting) which is amazing. Cons probably not best for frontend developers. Sometimes I also have to switch to other tools while I need to work on something else other than Scala/Java. I am using it for my java code and i am not facing any issue as such it is easy to use and very integrated. to make packages and java classes. it have all the features to set the path and make your project customized and dynamic. I've used other IDEs and text editors and I've really come to depend on Jetbrains IDEs for whatever software development I'm doing. Pros \- Feature rich - Autocomplete - Amazing debugger - Git integration - Deployment feature - Plugins (Bash, Makefile, Vim) - Free student plan - Great desktop icons - After you use on of Jetbrains products, you basically know how to use them all. I use IntelliJ IDEA, CLion, PyCharm, Webstorm, and Android Studio, and it's so easy to switch between them. This is likely one of Jetbrains best moves. Cons It's hard to find bad things to say. Most of the issues I've had have been with the Vim plugin. If you type a command like ":!python" in the Vim plugin, it basically freezes the IDE and you have to kill it from the command line. Written in JAVA by what is available on Windows / Linux / MacOS, fast, very convenient, having a rich library of plugins. After installing a few of them, we can efficiently write in PHP, Javascript, Ember, Angular, Python etc. Currently, I can not imagine working without this tool. It supports all types of repositories, has a built-in database client, FTP, SFTP, restAPI and many more. Cons The only disadvantage is the price, but after the first completed project it returns. The IDE offers great plugins and features for all the requirements. Be it DB requirements, Development requirements or Source code requirements it serves the purpose for all. Pros It is a very smart and intelligent IDE tool if you are working on Java development. It can support gradle, maven and git too. It has a pretty clean UI with easy integration and imports of project. Git connectivity is pretty good. You can easily track your changes, check your differences in local and remote, commit directly from IDE and get a pull as well. Cons Apart from being a bit expensive there are no such cons for now. I launched a fully functional app in the Google Play store and am fully confident that I can build and launch other apps. IntelliJ IDEA allowed me to learn Java for Android and how to learn that language so that I can add that to my resume. Pros The IntelliJ IDEA IDE is perfect for building Android mobile apps. I like how the Android Studio IDE uses IntelliJ IDEA and the two are interchangeable. Android Studio allows for developers to drag and drop basic controls while hand coding complex classes. IntelliJ IDEA allows for a basic mobile template using a Navigation Drawer, Blank, Basic, Bottom Nav Menu, Google Maps, and Google Ads. I like how something basic can be turned into a fully functional app. Cons It took sometime to learn. I was a self learner and it took several hours to figure out how to develop an Android mobile app. After learning via online learning platforms, I was able to build my first fully functional Android app which was launched in the Google Play store. When starting out, a beginner is not going to deploy an app the same day. It takes time to learn the IDE and master it. It also is a memory hog and loads slowly if you have an old computer. If you are using anything less than an i7, then you will wait a long time for it to launch. Pros Easy to create code by keyboard and by auto generated IDE functions, full support of programming language updates. IDE collor scheme is easy to the eyes to use for hours at a time one screen. Good compatibility with git and easy to compare and merge conflicts. Cons There are not much cons in this IDE, best one I ever used. The worst thing I had with this IDE is the need todo a full install every quarter for a big update. Pros Idea has a very convenient and user-friendly interface. In addition, the package management (maven, gradle) integration works very successfully. It is also great that it has a very large community. Apart from all these, it also has integration with many other software development tools and it is very successful. Apart from this the fact that such a powerful IDE could be free is amazing in itself. It will also highlight syntax errors as you type code into it which is also super helpful. It also has a really powerful regex search feature and has Git Support within the console as well as the GUI. Cons Since the software has a lot of real time features like code completion and highlighting incorrect code takes a toll on the memory usage especially when dealing with larger files which can cause the window to freeze sometimes. The learning curve take a bit. Cons I don’t like the long build times on some projects. I am not a fan of the subscription base use of this.
