Since then i started to use other IntellJ IDEs for different programming languages. Strong auto complete features, good support for Kotlin (native) and Flutter. Cons Java kind of weighs it down. Takes a lot of time to start. Very slow sometimes. " February 14, 2018 5.0 Pros It used it as professional alternative to the mighty Eclipse IDE since 2008 and couldn't be happier as java EE and JavaScript developer. Every detail is polished and just works. The inspector literally educates novice developer and prevents errors. The structure to navigate through the code e.g cascaded maven multi module projects works like a charm. I don't know any better java IDE on the market. Cons \- The lack of innovative plugins as available in tools like visual code. - The licrense server process to fetch a license ticket for 8 hours or so is cumbersome. Makes it hard to work at the clients place because you might not be able to renew the license through their network. But VScode is better AND free" May 20, 2021 4.0 Overall - it's a very good product. It has nice documentation and will probably work with whatever it is your trying to do. But...VScode does most of this too, but better, and for free. Pros Intellij is stocked with a lot of different features and available plugins. It plays well with a lot of languages and frameworks and is overall really mature. Cons Sadly - with a lot of features comes a lot of processing. And performance-wise this product is not good. When working with large code bases, the ide can get really slow and even unresponsive. Option of running and testing using JUnit Cons 1\. Doesn't support all languages like Elixir 2. Pros I had a great time using IntelliJ IDEA, as I used the cli with simple java programs and sprint boot project alike. Cons It's very full featured, not much to fault. Pros One of JetBrains' flagship IDEs, IntelliJ provides an extended suite of functionality for Java development, supporting a wide variety of plugins as one would expect from a JetBrains IDE and interoperability with the other tools in its family such as DataGrip. The auto complete feature works great which would make your coding faster. It also has great suggestions on how you properly write your code. Also, I like how it refactor your code to make it more readable. Cons I really don't is how much it consume RAM specially if you run the emulator. It works fast and includes all a good programmer needs. Pros It is complete, even when you try to program on weird languages you are able to find a plugin to make your life easy. Also, it works fast even when you have several plugins enabled. Cons Sometimes it is complicate to configure and for some languages there are 3 or 4 plugins and you need to find which one is the correct for you.
