It does everything an IDE should. It has helped organize code for projects and catch things I may have missed more quickly. Pros Everything. Clearly the developers for IntelliJ created this FOR DEVELOPERS. Everything flows so well together, the hints and suggestions it offers are very smart and it makes it hard to program without them after being spoiled. Almost everything is user customizable and it integrates well with all the major repos out there. It is easy to keep track of changes, revert or compare historical data. Nothing else comes close. Cons Only thing that I can think of is that it is missing some kind of statistical functionality. And IntelliJ remains a good option. Pros IntelliJ is great for your Java development. You can easily do coding with IntelliJ. It provides you with a user-friendly IDE. I use for basic study purposes and in some cases, some java games development. But never web development as it's not included in the community version Pros Java is a very difficult language to work, all the IDEs are extremely slow, almost no features and not to many options. And then you have IntelliJ, even the community version fill smoother than any others IDEs. From a C# developer working with VS, it the equivalent in JAVA. And that's a lot to say. It come well integrated with a lot of developer tools like it should be, and features that helps with the developer productivity Cons The full version is very expensive for a single developer, only reasonable for enterprise environment. Pros This app offers many useful functionalities such as: supplementing the source code, formatting, graphical display, excellent debugging, split screen, integrated GIT, searching everywhere in the app and many others. I also praise the very well-tuned dark mode. As a programmer, it is easy to use. Cons For large projects it is slowed down, compiling and indexing the project sometimes takes an extremely long time. In a new approach, we're using IntelliJ to do the scripting t bseed on POM and eventually, those scripts run on the clouds configured and controlled by the Software partner Exigen and the results are very liberating. Pros This software is intuitive to use and has proven its worth with the kind of work that it gets done in a very reasonable and efficient manner. I have been using it to Automate test cases using IntelliJ which in turn run on the clouds controlled by Exigen Products administrators and it's very pleasing to use . I like the interface and the setup. This is a very powerful tool as it is even the base of Android studio. Cons This is a large install and it is not very straight forward to just start whipping code. Its more like a big project kind of tool, not something you want to use to rapidly run experiments. I instead use Eclipse most of the time. Pros It has all the functionalities for a powerful IDEA. Unit testing, auto code completion, code generation, refactoring, syntax checking, real time debugging, and many plugins for code analysis. I would say the auto code completion is stronger than other competitors like Eclipse. I used to have some projects don't work with Eclipse but IntelliJ Cons The IDEA takes a lot of my computer resources when use. The startup time of the software is also very slow. It's meant to be for Java Developers, however anybody can actually use it. Being a Front End Developer, I just stick to the html, css and js files and it works fine. Pros It is a very bulky and robust product, it can do many things at once. There are a bunch of extensions that can be added for free to facilitate the interaction and productivity. Cons At the same time, since it's such a big software, it can be tricky to understand it at first, I could be more user friendly or help with tutorials when you first lunch. Pros Software development with IntelliJ is really fun. It's the little things, like the perfect auto-completion or the comprehensive, easy-to-use refactoring options, that make daily work so much easier. Cons The only real disadvantage from my point of view is the high cost for the Ultimate version. I had the chance to use IntelliJ Ultimate for free during my studies. Currently, the IDE is not used in my projects, among other things because of the costs. Pros It has a really nice interface with customizable settings that make the experience a bit more enjoyable. For example, you can switch between high contrast, light, and dark modes ("Darcula" as they call it). The debugger is also very easy to use. Cons Setting it up is a pain in the neck. You'll likely need to look up a tutorial on installing the relevant plugin if it isn't already built in (e.g., Python). " October 10, 2017 5.0 A quick and robust tool fo all things Java. The publisher also makes several other equally great products for all development disciplines. Pros One of the most fluid IDEs I have used. I am not much of a Java developer, but this was the platform that introduced me to all of Jet Brains great IDEs. This is a fully functional IDE; not just some lite kit or sample. In addition, the Community Edition is completely FREE with no strings attached. Highly recommend this for both learners and professional Java developers. Jet Brains is also very good about keeping the interface consistent between their IDEs, and so this is also a good starter product if you want to branch out your skill set like I have. Cons It is hard to find fault, really. Every IDE has its quirks and features, and most of the decision making comes down to preference. I started with Jet Brains and so I am inclined to use this product over, lets say a Microsoft equivalent (like Visual Studio) or another Java IDE like Eclipse. Pros Android Studio is based on Intellij, and both intellij and Studio really work bad. The only good thing is Studio is free. Cons Periodically need to reinstall it due to failure of plugins.
