Good user interface and themes. 4. Handy shortcuts available to perform useful operations like search in file, find reference for methods etc. Cons 1.Higher cost for ultimate version. 2.Requires a good amount of RAM, It's quite heavy application, but since I upgraded my RAM it's better now. Most users love it deeply. Personally, I have another preference, but it is not due to shortcomings on IDEA, rather than for habit and little differences. Yet, I recommend everyone to at least try it, as I did. Cons \- Paid (when there are many nice alternatives.) - If you already use another IDE, adopting it can be quite hard. The multi-pane design and built in build tools afford a very productive development environment. I'm able to easily integrate application containers and create run configurations simply through the graphical user interface. IntelliJ's built in version control options make it easy and enjoyable to work with systems like git. The built in TODO pane is a life saver and helps me stay organized and focused on the task at hand.It's overall a great product and I've really enjoyed using it. I wish I could use it on more of my projects. Cons There's not much to dislike with IntelliJ as an IDE, however the product could benefit from a widely adopted plugin architecture and ecosystem. I used it for Java and it worked very well for Maven integration and also for using Spring framework. Gives smart recommendations for usage, making the lives of the developer so much easier Cons Yes, there's no utopia. Every benefit comes with a hitch, and with intellij, it takes up a lot of resources to run. IDEA has a very robust interface. It has a very steep learning curve but the effects on your productivity is definitely worth it. Pros The sheer amount of shortcuts and customisability it offers is mind-blowing. You can set a shortcut for basically any action and streamline your workflow. JetBrains also has a huge plugin marketplace for its apps on which you can pick up some quality of life improvements for your IDE. I have used it extensively in education for coding in Java and have found it's debugging tools to be second to none. Pros I loved IntelliJ Idea's wide feature set, especially the excellent code debugging tool included that allows for line by line stepping and the tracking of all variables and their values. The debugging tool is a lifesaver in situations where the code is complicated and difficult to figure out. April 2, 2018 5.0 Pros IntelliJ will help with your coding as soon as you begin writing it. A pull down menu will appear with suggestions of what you are trying to type in, making it quicker to write your program. It also make suggestions on how to fix any errors that it detects. What's best is that it's all open source. Cons Some of the default keyboard layouts does not work well. This may all be user error but I have to change the copy and paste to how it normally should work instead of having to write click the spot I want to copy or paste and then be able to do the ctrl+c or ctrl+v.
