It has more tools and can be integrated well with svn. Cons I don't hate it but it is somewhat difficult to use compared to Eclipse. Pros There are loads of free alternatives if you are looking for a proper IDE. The Intelli products for me just offer that bit extra in terms of functionality or quality that justifies paying for my usage. Cons Not too much, the only thing I really dislike is the way they roll-out new versions of their software as often it doesn't fully respect the settings and preferences of earlier installs. Pros The guys an intelliJ surely make some nice software, I used it to code Java for my university and it both looks great and works nicely. Cons While it works okay, it feels kind of slow to load compare to Eclipse for example and while it looks good, Eclipse is easier to use while this one is a bit confusing at start. You can commit and checkout projects from git, svn and other version control platforms. Cons It was way too bulky for what I needed and it took too long to load up, making me waste too much time everyday opening the software so I ended up using a different editor. Pros There is nothing I have had to do that IntelliJ couldn't help with. I continue to discover features that make my life easier, from Git integration to Spring initialization to the robust refactoring options. IntelliJ makes every part of my job easier. ItelliJ wins hands down over Eclipse every time. It was quite simple to use and helped me learn Java quickly. One of the numerous features that helped me save time was the debugger and refactoring. Cons The IDE might consume a lot of resources. I would not recommend it to anyone with old hardware. Pros Full of features, customizable coding experience respect to your way of coding. It gives the user to be fully in control of his IDE. Cons Not a great community following it, guess that's due to being not free but licensed. I would choose ItelliJ over Eclipse any day of the week. It was really intuitive and help me learn Java really quick. The debugger and the refactoring features were one of the many features that helped me save time. Cons The IDE can be really resource-intensive. I had a quite a powerful laptop but it would still sometimes slow it down. Would not recommend it to people with old hardwares.
