It does it's job perfectly. Its Git and Github integration are so good like their other IDEs and these things I really like about JetBrains is that they maintain a lot of similarities between their IDEs so even if you switch between them you don't feel that uncomfortable unless you don't know that other language. Cons There are almost no cons if you are not that much picky, and yeah it consumes so much ram compared to code editors, so you need a good decent system to run it flawlessly. Cons IntelliJ is quite a heavy application that can take a lot of memory to run and has the tendency to occasionally crash on older machines. The initial boot-up time of IntelliJ can be quite slow due to the initial indexing it runs to detect all the details of the project you're currently working on. It is also quite expensive, and not completely open source. I do recommend for professional developers and newcomers. Cons The learning curve could be a little steep but once you feel used to the software your productivity will boost. It included a bunch of templates by default, some of which may be bloat but are of great use to someone else. The keymapping and shortcuts are amazing and the lack of having to configure a project manually, or modifying templates was a plus. Pros The autocomplete predicts perfectly and makes repetitive tasks are not tedious, it has many debugging tools necessary for a good development. Cons the free version does not have as many options as the payment and I think it consumes a lot of resources from my computer, but setting aside that is a great option for the development of JAVA.
