Pros: As a busy audio and visuals studio the biggest advantage we have seen with using Float is the scheduling feature. This allows us to schedule when projects and tasks need to take place, and who is working on and responsible for each project and task. As we have a number of people on our team and often numerous projects on the go at one time, Float has allowed us to better coordinate everything and has become vital in ensuring that projects and tasks are completed on time by each individual team member. As a team we can view the overall workload and time frames involved, while as an individual you can keep track of what tasks or projects you are working on and what projects you can or can not take on due to scheduling.

Cons: Sometimes the administrator /account owner has certain scheduling permissions and can add projects for individual team members int he scheduling feature. This is great but when these scheduled tasks or projects need to be changed or reshuffled it can only be done by the admin person / account owner and not the individual. There have been times when the admin person has not been available and I have needed to change the scheduled projects created by the admin person but have not been able to and have had to wait for the admin person to do it. This is the only downside so far that I have experienced using Float.

Overall: With using Float we have been able to have one central, accessible platform for the team to schedule tasks and projects and to assign them to the relevant individuals, sometimes weeks ahead of the deadlines. This has improved the teams overall planning of jobs and has allowed us to see what we can take on, what we need to reschedule and at times when we have to call in additional help to meet the deadlines. Float is quite easy to use and is improving all the time with new features. For us as an audio and design studio it has become an essential tool in our day to day operations that has benefited our overall productivity.

Pros: Kudos to you guys! I love the newer faster Float! You are making my job much easier & faster. Love the faster navigating/scrolling and the changing of a task's time by scrolling on the schedule up or down beats the hell out of having to open the task and do it from there.

Love the new feature that you can hover over the work task and the notes appear without having to open the task.

Great job, keep it up!

Cons: Would like to be able to move a task to the afternoon (or lower in the cell) for a day where it is not a full days worth of hours and there is nothing else for that employee that day. Example, I have a technician on a 4 hour training course and it is in the afternoon. He has nothing else scheduled that day but I can't move the task lower in the cell so it looks like it is scheduled for the morning. It would be nice if you could hover over the "Time off" cells and see the notes associated with it , like you can for a work task, without having to open the "time off" cell.

Overall: We used to use a HUGE white board and dry erase markers for our schedule. We thought that this was the best way for us to tackle our job scheduling and Float was met with a bit of resistance once the boss said we were going to try it.

WOW, were we wrong. I would never look back now that we are using Float. One of the best tools we ever used. We are scheduling anywhere from 18 to 26 techs on this program and I fully encourage anyone even thinking of possibly trying out a program for scheduling to do your self a favor and try out Float. I'd be shocked if your not impressed by it.

Pros: I like that I (as a project manager) can manage time easily for our team of two, but can easily add contract workers, and that visually it works for my designer as well -- he struggled with really seeing how his week needed to flow when just using tasklists, like Basecamp.

Cons: Anything I haven't liked has been added (e.g. ability to do recurring tasks, reordering tasks). It's a small thing, but we also spend way too much time trying to figure out colors for all of our projects after using the default ones. I would love to be able to add a project from the schedule interface -- like when I go to schedule time and I type in a project, it tries to find it; if it's not there, it would be nice to just have "add this project" without having to exit out of the scheduling box and go into Project.

Overall: We needed a way to easily plan and then communicate on our respective tasks for the week. With Basecamp (what we use for project management currently), we could pull to-do lists, but we didn't have a macro view on the week or the month with the time that it would take to complete those tasks. My designer felt like he couldn't really "'visualize" his week and couldn't communicate easily what tasks were taking more or less time than needed. Float has proved to be invaluable for time management and communication.

Pros: I love that this is an affordable, web-based, easy to configure and use tool that is extremely flexible. There's a lot of power in only asking for as much information as is needed in order to be useful. It's a great visual way to manage projects and people and to get a sense of how people's workload is at any given moment. As an end user, it's great to be able to see how my week is looking at the start so that anything that comes up can be managed and it's a burden to try and juggle it all.

Cons: Float very much purpose-built to schedule work, but there are a number of features that are present in more project-focused solutions which are lacking-- namely time tracking and dependencies. However, adding some of these features might sacrifice that which makes Float great at what it does, simplicity.

Overall: Not having to rely on tools that weren't built for this purpose to achieve the desired output is fantastic. Excel is for numbers and spreadsheets, not managing project.

Pros: I love how simple the interface is. Everything is clear and on one page, useful reports, labels and additional features such as tentitive work or team views make resourcing much easier. I really like using this tool, I use it everyday at my work. It is easy to manage the pipeline and resolve clashes easily.

It works well for a lower amount of people. As the buisness grows it is more effort to maintain. However for companies with less than 100 people this is a great solution. One negative is they removed the alt click drag to copy fundtion which I really found useful. Genreally it is a great tool!

Pros: It allows for very transparent capacity planning within the company. Every employee can see their own and co-workers schedule in advance and make changes to it.

Also it forces project managers to do capacity planning since this is our "single source of truth" for planned work.

We also like the focus of Float to solve only one business problem.

Cons: There are a couple of things that we discovered in the past weeks:

- Milestone tooltips are buggy - they sometimes don't disappear

- Horizontal scrolling with a classic mouse does not work as expected (SHIFT + scroll)

- It would be nice to have an iCal address for team members to see all "time off" entries in Google Calendar or other calendar apps

- Working with recurring tasks is a real pain (Rescheduling within weeks, splitting etc.). We chose to not use this feature alltogether.

- It would be nice to have a sync with GitLab to be able to select GitLab issues instead of defining "tasks" in Float all over again.

- It would be nice to automatically sync "time off" and G Suite's "Out of office" functionality

- Due to the horizontal view it's quite difficult to get a long-term view of capacity. It's only great for short-term (~1 month) planning.

Overall: Float works as expected but has a couple of UI glitches. It's a bit hard to get real overview as soon as you have more than ~5 people or want to get a long-term view. The tool has a lot of potential and definitely works better than an Excel sheet ;-)

Pros: I've only been using it for about 6 months but I love how clean and to the point it is. I find my name and find out what my duties are for that day. I travel a lot so its really nice to be able to look at a week and see where in the country I may be. It allows me to start planning my travel and some sightseeing with plenty of time to spare so that once the time comes, I just get on a plane and go to work!

Cons: There's no Android app. That's a big turn off but I manage. I'd really appreciate this functionality in the future.

I'm not sure if its just me but when I log in on my computer, each area takes up the whole screen. its quite strange. I have to scroll to the next person even though they should be smaller boxes. on my phone they are almost too squished to read and I haven't found a way manually size the boxes.

Overall: It's still quick and easy even with its very few flaws. my coworkers and I are all scattered around the country so its nice to be able to quickly look at an upcoming job then find out who is on it with me without having to call them all and find out who I'm working with!

Pros: We love the easy drag and drop interface, the ease of use of the whole system, the API allowing us to create/sync projects and tasks from our project management system, and the ability for our team to sync their Float schedule to their iOS or Exchange calendars via the iCal feed.

Cons: We think there are some minor things that would make the software even easier to use missing from it:

- ability to drag and drop to copy a schedule from one person/resource to another (not just reallocate)

- ability to see Notes on a project by hovering over the quick note icon on the schedule

- ability to see confirmed appointments vs tentative (clients are using colours to do this at the moment)

Overall: Easy visual scheduling for the team

Pros: Float completely transformed our creative department as it allowed me to be much more reactive with organising the workflow of the floor. Float gave me back so many hours to manage projects. It's very easy to use and a great way to see what projects are booked in with who. We have multiple projects and the colour coding tool for clients is a dream!

Cons: The only con I have found with Float is aligning the same projects tasks in one line. For instance Person A could have Project X with 1st development ending on tuesday and 1st comments on wednesday starting 2nd development, if they have another project, say project Y that could be in the same row as 1st development and 2nd development could be a line below making it a bit hard to follow.

Overall: It has transformed our creative deparment going from excel sheets sent around via email at the end of the week to everyone having an account and checking their workload for the day. It has also meant I can work closer with the finance department to forecast and see hours burnt.

Pros: We depend on float to track allocation of work across our team. This varies from tasks which take a few hours, to tasks which take multiple weeks or months. Float handles all this, enabling us to see which of our team need work, and how we can juggle or reschedule work when things change.

Cons: We do have duplication between team members' Google calendars and float, and have tried to resolve this by automating a synchronisation - but the calendars will always have more detail than Float so we are living with this duality.

Overall: Float has enabled us to grow our team without much additional effort to track and report on the team allocations. It is essential for our traffic and scheduling.

Pros: Weekly emails, ease of adding in new projects or tasks to existing projects, the color options (it's like working in a rainbow!), and the reporting/statistics feature. It's nice being able to see current utilization vs. projected. It's very basic, but very straightforward. I also love how it's cloud based, so I can access it anywhere I need to.

Cons: My only complaint is that if you make adjustments to the weekly schedule too close to when the weekly emails go out, the changes might not always get picked up in the notification. I've worked with the developer team to try and figure this one out without any luck. It's so minor, though.

Overall: I manage a team of 8 consultants. Float allows me to see where everyone is going to be on just one screen, instead of having to check 8 different calendars. Ease of my job is absolutely the biggest benefit.

Pros: I've been using Float to organise the structure of our Design Team for over two years now, we trialled a few different alternatives but ultimately Float was the top pick for our team. The simplistic booking system means ease of use for our Designers, we can view our work, the time, the project type, and add in notes with project manager names so we know who to contact. Being able to share an un-editable version of this schedule with the wider team is perfect for visibility on available time.

Cons: The lack of an Android version of the Float app.

Overall: Our team would be unorganised chaos without it!

Pros: The quick and intuitive means by which projects and jobs can be added, updated and moved around in schedules. It's a really handy way to both view and quickly update the full picture of workloads, schedules, availability and project progress.

Cons: While excellent for immediate-term planning, I would like to see a little more in the way of options for longer-term, or non-date-specific, planning - perhaps the ability to add a "pending" column that sits persistently alongside the day and date columns, to act as a reminder of jobs that will come onto schedule soon but aren't ready to be assigned to a particular day/week!

It would also be useful to be able to less evenly proportion time across days - e.g. spread a job over two days but assign more hours to one than the other, rather than the equal split as present.

These are feature requests rather than issues, though - on the whole the experience is excellent and does exactly as you'd hope/expect.

Overall: We have been trialling Float in order to replace a pen-and-whiteboard system in our office - it replicates the experience of that board almost exactly, with the added bonus that our team and other teams within the agency can view the schedule from anywhere, rather than needing to be at the office location. So far, with the exception of the minor suggested tweaks above, it has done everything we've needed it to.

Pros: It is simple and easy to use . The User Interface is clean an uncluttered and you can quickly see who has capacity to take on more work.

Cons: We would like the ability to lock down the settings and colours, so we can enforce upcoming jobs of different type or status are shown in the same colour. It would also be good to have regional settings for things like public holidays so these aren't applied globally. Holidays differ across countries (e.g. thanksgiving doesn't apply in Canada and Australia.

Overall: We are using float every day to manage our 12 week resource schedule and balance the workforce.

Pros: I like how I can go from day to day, week to week Month to Month etc very easily. I like that I can make the calendar. I like that it keeps the name of the Tasks in the history, very useful when assigning multiple people to the same task. and the fact its a shared calendar that updates in real time for the most part.

Cons: I don't like the how an assignment can easily be deleted (when I didn't mean to) I wish there was was something that popped up that asked "was I sure"

Also, it doesn't appear the people who are read only cannot see the comments that are initially put in under a task.

Overall: Im able to easily schedule many people and if I need to reassign a task to someone else, thats very easy to do.

Pros: I've been using float for almost a year now. It has made SUCH a difference in allowing our teams to be able to track where and when individuals are working from home/out of office/on holiday on a simple and unified platform. The tool is also incredibly user-friendly and makes it easy for anyone to be able to use it on a day to day basis.

Cons: Nothing major comes to mind about the tool that I dislike particularly. With that said, some potential improvements could include:

- Allowing you to drag and drop to copy a schedule from one person to another, instead of just relocating it

- A way to see notes on a project by just hovering over the icon rather than clicking on it

Pros: I am an end user of Float. It allows me to see my schedule and my co-workers. I am able to keep up with locations of both myself and my co-workers at all times

Cons: My project manager makes all the changes in Float. However, she is amazing; therefore there is no need for me to do anything inside the software. So, I have not had a whole lot of experience working inside the software. I only know the end use which is extremely helpful.

Overall: I love the mobile app for Float which enables me to always know when something has been added to my schedule. As a contractor I am unable to receive emails on my personal phone so having the Float app allows me to stay in touch just in case something gets added to my schedule at the last minute.

Pros: It's easy to use. Provides a high level view of staffing for a 20 person firm.

Overall: We were using a shared google sheet and it just got more and more complex and unusable, so I went serching for an alternate solution. Float really helped us visualize our schedule across multiple clients and team members. It also has simple reports on utilization which used to take quite a bit of time.

Pros: Float is an easy to use online application to organize your business resources. You can add clients and projects, you can differentiate them with different colors. While you are creating tasks you can also add descriptions to them. You can also create reports.

Cons: How we use it at my company, I see no disadvantages or any bad parts of Float. Only works days setup confused us, as we cannot preset those saturdays which are work days.

Overall: This year we doubled our team, and we ran into a problem managing our resources. Our management team could not manage all the people and projects, so we decided to organize the resources and teams with a resource management app in paralell with a pm tool. We started using Float, and selected Tuesday as our resource meeting day. All of our employees use this tool to check what we planned for them for the next few days / weeks.

Pros: Float gives our full team a simple, visual view of resourcing and availability - much more 'at-a-glanceable' than hacked together gCals and other non-specialised tools we've used in the past.

Cons: It's a little lacking when it comes to flexible accounting of leave - a lot of our team take half days for personal appointments and the like - but we're only able to mark entire days in the calendar. While it's better than it was before, it still leads to confusion.

Pros: Easy to see, enter and edit events on the timeline

Very clear layout

Colour coordination is helpful and good looking

Cons: I use the schedule on my iPhone to see where I am working, my manager enters extra details I can only see when I rotate my phone- would be excellent if users could expand boxes to see full texts inside.

Overall: Float is easy to use and does the job it was made for, I'm happy using it as well as the rest of my colleagues.

Pros: Our teams greatly appreciate Float for its simplicity of use and clear, simple design. It is shared via browsers like ourprevious tool but much clearer and simpler to handle. It was quickly adpoted and no one looked back.

Cons: It can sometimes be confusing when too many ressources and projetcs are displayed on the screen. Additonally, the relocation of a task can sometimes be tricky when many blocks are too close from each other but nothing that some practice cannot overcome.

Overall: We have many different teams with 4+ team members in each and planning control on a daily basis, with a tool that doesn't require 10 minutes to adjust a simple timeline, is key to our business. We needed a clear, simple and efficient scheduling tool and we found exactly what we needed with Float.

Pros: Float is the most comprehensive scheduling device on the market for our marketing studio. Easy to manage, to follow, and makes trafficing our work through our studio a breeze.

Cons: Colour coding of each individual row and column could have the function to change this.

Overall: It helps each individual user to follow a simple work day structure and helps the whole studio time manage jobs to help keep within budget.

Pros: Visualisation of team member allocation across multiple projects. At a glance its easy to see who is allocated to what, and how many hours per day. Non-working days such as leave an public holidays are also handled well.

Cons: A lot of the great features can be hard to find at first. But I suppose this helps keep the UI for common tasks free of clutter.

Overall: Using Float has reduced the amount of time spent in scheduling meetings. It also allows us to collaborate with regard to resource allocation across remote teams, and aids in communication to assigned team members.

Pros: Easy to pick up and use (even for tech novices).

Instant access from anywhere easily due to being stored online

Automatic email updates to team.

Easy to scan statistics and automated reporting are a huge win for me.

Cons: None major. One issue is that sometimes updates are missed on the email updates but we have an internal system which we use to update staff so we sometimes use that when working to tight deadlines.

Overall: I am a production manager at a Design Agency working with designers and developers. Float allows me to track progress of everyone across multiple projects in one place. Ease of use and simplicity to update are the main reasons I chose Float. It's simple enough for anyone to pick up, the useful features can be found when you need them.

Pros: ability to view each project on its own and make sure no step was missed in scheduling. Ability to drill down on a user or a team and be able to review their schedule. Also, the fact it shows if someone got overloaded is very useful and I like the ability to move people and regroup them

Cons: it is slow when we do an update. When the administrator is moving things or adding new items on someone's schedule, it is very slow to update. Not sure how we can speed it up. Also, when filtering on a project to reschedule, it filters any user that has any link to that project which is great but I think it should show also, maybe in greyed out or faded colours the other items on their shedule. Example, if I am looking at Sep 20, it looks like that user has nothing, because they are schedule Sept 18. So, if I am planning to move their time from Sep 18 to Sep 20, I will not be aware of their current Sep 20 schedule until I exit the filter

Overall: it is easier to filter on a project or individual or group as well as tasks. It gives a better view and allows you to see if you overloaded someone

Pros: Seeing everything at a glance. It is great to have a visual reference of the time spend on specific tasks and know when you are over time. I love that you can now complete tasks

Cons: With the update my screen scrolls continuously which is really annoying.

I have a tablet and the mobile and tablet app is really buggy and not a good experience so I use the desktop version on my devices however this is still not a great experience.

Overall: We are able to clearly see when we are running over on jobs and overall our experience has been positive.

Pros: Float is one of the most straight forward scheduling apps I've used. It has a nice clean UI and it's easy to drag and drop tasks around the calendar.

Cons: We still need to use other software to track the project status. It's not a full end-to-end solution.

Overall: The data it collects is really useful for analysing what my team works on and what projects take up the most resources.

Float is certainly an easy tool to use, accessible and fast to edit. It used to be cheaper although.

Pros: The fast and easy to edit is the major plus to this software. All the tools (cut, insert, slide) are helping lots to edit faster.

Cons: When you start to have a lot of persons, it becomes really slow, even if your account is always clean (archived projects). Plus, the price doubled recently, which I found it a lot if we consider the quantity of new features and updates (1) since this change. I don't see a lot of communication sharing the next plans for Float or what they are working on, it should be shared more.

Overall: An overall view of the production team more clear which help us make fast choices when we are in rush or we need to find solutions. Plus a more transparent overview of the actual and future work for the team.

Pros: Float is easy to use and can be picked up in minutes, allowing anyone to become quickly acquainted and start making collaborative resource decisions.

Cons: Float could do with some further integration of other common project management tools and features. It is good at what it does but I would like to see them produce a wider software suite which includes other resource management tools such as time logging.

Overall: Out team is able to work collaboratively and effectively to solve resource issues using float in a digital design space.

Pros: We analyzed several reviews before getting a Float license for our maintenance team. What impressed us is the ease of use and immediate approach of the user interface. Even non tech skilled people can easily plan and update activities, without spending too much time on the software itself.

Cons: So far, almost 1 year after adopting Float, we can't identify any particular downside.

Overall: With Float we are able to coordinate a whole maintenance workforce and schedule all the activities for a manufacturing plant (pharma industry), very efficiently. The software has been thought to be time saving, and allows to focus on what really matters. Learning curve rise pretty immediately, and the final user feels a real benefit.

It's also very useful to be able to gather very detailed metric in order to calculate ROI of each of our project. Finally I like the design, very modern and simple so you won't be distracted.

Pros: I am mostly using Float within the company I work for to get an overview of what projects I'm working on during a particular week. The clear and functional display makes it easy to immediately see what has been scheduled. It also lets me see who of my colleagues are on holiday or what projects they're working on. Great product.

Cons: It can begin to get a little bit laggy when there are many other members of staff on display at the same time. Other than that, no complaints!

Pros: Float is incredibly easy to use and provides a clear view of what our studio is working on at any given time.

The ability to quickly add in projects on the fly is a great time saver and being able to book projects tentatively helps to plan work well in advance.

Cons: We have a large number of clients and the preset colours are fairly limited - we'd like more , varied colours to choose from.

Overall: I use Float on a daily basis to plan the resources in our studio - it enables me to react quickly to the ever changing needs of our clients and has had a very real impact on the efficiency of our teams.

I have already recommended Float to friends of mine that work in the industry and will continue to do so.

Pros: Very easy to use, and lots of handy features such as the repeat task option and the ability to add different departments.

The ability to add 'observers' is great too, so everybody on our wider team can check in and see what we're up to/what our availability is.

Cons: The lack of a mobile app is an issue, but I believe they are working on one as we speak. The mobile website is quite tricky to use too.

Overall: The key benefit is knowing that my team can track the tasks they are doing which makes reporting P&L a lot easier.

Pros: Float is a very handy tool to let workers know in advance what projects they'll be working on and whats coming up in the near future too. For our company also its a great way of knowing exactly which project is allocated to you in order to log your time correctly.

Cons: My least favourite thing is something they have removed recently, which is allowing you to copy the text on each item on float. This allowed me to quickly find the tickets for said projects I'm assigned too.

Pros: The ease of use of Float it top class. From the creating of projects to assign resources to, creating of tasks in the projects and managing the milestones is super easy. The calendar grid format makes it really easy to see what resources are assigned to and makes it really simple to manage your resource scheduling. Access management is good too. We make use of the Float API suite too to automate our team's approved leave from our leave management system to Float and it works really well. The reporting is decent. The UI is a delight to work with. There is not a lot you cannot do with Float.

Cons: The only small gap I have found is the operational reporting. While there is a weekly view, it does not seem to offer a day-by-day report that can be imported into Excel (through CSV or other means).
