I use it everyday" June 18, 2022 5.0 I love float, I would struggle to organize my work day-to-day if I didn't have it. It's the only way I can be at peace knowing that my whole sprint is laid out on the platform for me to tackle. Pros I love that I can easily add in tasks on the platform, drag, extend, and update tasks super easily and quickly. Cons Probably the price, it's a little pricey especially since I'm the only user. Digital Content and Project Manager Marketing and Advertising Used the software for: Less than 6 months ### "Great tool for scheduling across a busy creative team" January 17, 2019 4.0 We have been trialling Float in order to replace a pen-and-whiteboard system in our office - it replicates the experience of that board almost exactly, with the added bonus that our team and other teams within the agency can view the schedule from anywhere, rather than needing to be at the office location. So far, with the exception of the minor suggested tweaks above, it has done everything we've needed it to. Pros The quick and intuitive means by which projects and jobs can be added, updated and moved around in schedules. It's a really handy way to both view and quickly update the full picture of workloads, schedules, availability and project progress. Cons While excellent for immediate-term planning, I would like to see a little more in the way of options for longer-term, or non-date-specific, planning - perhaps the ability to add a "pending" column that sits persistently alongside the day and date columns, to act as a reminder of jobs that will come onto schedule soon but aren't ready to be assigned to a particular day/week! It would also be useful to be able to less evenly proportion time across days - e.g. spread a job over two days but assign more hours to one than the other, rather than the equal split as present. These are feature requests rather than issues, though - on the whole the experience is excellent and does exactly as you'd hope/expect. The API is there and its rather easy to get the data out of the tool. Cons I don't like how the tool looks, visually. Especially the project planning part. Many basic features that are available in other project management tools are not available, for example the Gantt chart is not really there. The reporting part is very weak. A lot of people in the office like the tool, I think, but for me it's not the best because of some basic things are missing. We ended up using Qlik to build reporting part and the Gantt chart. Pros Easy to setup and use without any training required. Clean interface that makes it easy to view and update resources assigned to projects. Love the ability to easily drag to extend duration of tasks assigned. Cons Would be great if there was a better integration with our timesheet tool (Xero) to populate timesheets automatically based on plan in Float. It helped that it was easy to understand Pros Its best function, in my opinion, is to be able to forecast a company's cash flow. Something that some entrepreneurs do not take into consideration and leads them to bankruptcy. He is also an excellent manager. Pros In a blink of an eye, I can see who's busy on what, and for how long. It let me give a clear idea of planning for upcoming projects, see who's available for it and who's on holiday. Also, it let me check if we take too long to finish a project or not (by setting up a budget forecast). Cons It would be good to integrate other tools like Yadera or Monday.com. Also, I'd like to have an easier view on days split into different tasks (one per day is really clear, but as soon as you have 2-4 tasks a day, it's harder to read). I used to report my hours to a supervisor via email, which became very difficult to track back if I was asked about a particular day earlier in the week or month. Logging time is a necessary evil and Float makes it easy. Pros It's great that Float updates live. I can have a chat with my account service team and watch the schedule populate as they fill it in. Being able to see my availability at a glance (or whether I'm over capacity) is a great feature. Cons It would be better if I could disable email reminders from float at a user level. Cons I would like to be able to click "start" and "stop" when starting and stopping an activity on a project. One often doesn't remember how long one worked on an activity and being able to use Float to do this would be very helpful. Pros Float is the most straightforward product in our software stack. Every new start knows how to use it within a few minutes of creating an account, and we are able to allocate our resource quickly without the software getting in the way of the work which I wish we could say about all of the products that we use. Cons Not really a criticism of float but I will be looking to find an agency management solution that has a float integration if possible and if not another method of sync as we would hate to leave float behind. I can plan more exact, I have a good visibility. Pros I like that I can book people for my projects, and I have good visibility about capacity. I can plan projects. Also, I like that I see all the company workers and if needed I already know who is able to help me at the given moment (is not busy with other projects). Cons I didn't get used to it at the beginning and was busy with the projects. For me it was additional work to add people there, to update their vacation and sick leaves. UX UI Designer Design Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Using Float in a Design Agency" August 14, 2020 5.0 My overall eperince with float has been amazing, I have been able to see what is in store for me the following week after the lead designer delegates the work, I am able to track my time sheet accordingly, the colour coding of clients helps a ton at a quick glance. Pros Float offers collaboration for multiple users that interact with one another on a daily basis. It is really efficient to see at a glance who will be working with who and to calculate the number of hours spent on certain clients including meetings that are scheduled over and above the workload for said client. This is a very effective way to evaluate schedules, costings and collaboration. Cons Adding in items that are shorter than an hour that can still be readable at a glance, maybe increasing the standard bar height? Perhaps giving a weekly view in email in the form of a timeline. The verticle timeline doesn't sit with me well. I would also like to see something like Mondays fully integrated with float. Review Source Pelayo R. Pros I needed a program that tracked resource allocation only, and this is it. I have brought it to every company I have worked at. It is so easy to use and set up and the Asana integration is so valuable. I am able to project the workload for the next quarter in under 30 mins. Cons Would love to be able to prioritize tasks according to importance in the stack but otherwise, no major cons. Reason for choosing Float Ease of use. Programs try to do too much these days. Float does one thing extremely well, schedule the team and keep track of daily/weekly/ monthly tasks.
