### "Good software for professionals managing projects"

August 22, 2023

5.0

Pros

Easy to use and get employees on board, and collaborating

Cons

At a push, one could make use of this software to manage more parts of their business, perhaps features for employees requesting time off and management verifying and tracking this.

### "Quick, intuitive and useful"

June 20, 2022

4.0

I think it's a useful tool to allow management to distribute tasks in a wise and visible way, and also to check my holidays and days off. I can check what is going to come in the next weeks, which reduces general uncertainty and anxiety

Pros

I think the visual simplicity and how intuitive it is is a great asset. We usually use it for tentative bookings, but it's useful to have a glance of the possible projects that are going to come in the week

Cons

I don't think I experienced anything uncomfortable. I'm not an administrator and my usage of the tool is very basic and limited, so I can just see my schedule.

### "Lifesaver! Great tool for scheduling across multiple teams and offices"

January 20, 2019

4.0

Pros

I've been using float for almost a year now. It has made SUCH a difference in allowing our teams to be able to track where and when individuals are working from home/out of office/on holiday on a simple and unified platform. The tool is also incredibly user-friendly and makes it easy for anyone to be able to use it on a day to day basis.

Cons

Nothing major comes to mind about the tool that I dislike particularly. With that said, some potential improvements could include: - Allowing you to drag and drop to copy a schedule from one person to another, instead of just relocating it - A way to see notes on a project by just hovering over the icon rather than clicking on it

### "Does exactly what I need it to do"

January 17, 2019

5.0

Im able to easily schedule many people and if I need to reassign a task to someone else, thats very easy to do.

Pros

I like how I can go from day to day, week to week Month to Month etc very easily. I like that I can make the calendar. I like that it keeps the name of the Tasks in the history, very useful when assigning multiple people to the same task. and the fact its a shared calendar that updates in real time for the most part.

Cons

I don't like the how an assignment can easily be deleted (when I didn't mean to) I wish there was was something that popped up that asked "was I sure" Also, it doesn't appear the people who are read only cannot see the comments that are initially put in under a task.

### "Project tracking made easier"

August 23, 2023

5.0

Pros

Really nice interface and very easy to use. I use this to track time and keep up to date with what projects I'm working on. It's very user friendly and great that it has the ability to be linked to outlook to ensure my calendar is up to date.

Cons

Nothing, I don't use it as much as others may within my team so don't know about the full capabilities but from a time management perspective i think it's the nicest platform i've used.

### "Good for visibility"

August 16, 2020

5.0

Pros

Easy to use and it's simple to scroll backwards to check your historical or upcoming bookings. As a user it does all I need it to do.

Cons

I've previously used Synergist which was great for production resources as all the bookings automatically pre-populated timesheets ready to add hours and submit. I'm not sure if Float has this functionality but our organisation uses separate systems for both, and I find it does add a little more effort to time logging.

Hi Mel, Thanks so much for your review! We do have a time-tracking add-on feature in Float that pre-filles your team's timesheets based on their work schedule. You can check out how it works here, https://www.float.com/how-it-works/time-tracking. All Float customers are welcome to a free 30 day trial of the feature. An Account Owner can activate this from the Team Settings inside Float. If you'd like a demo or have any questions about how time tracking works, please feel free to email us at support@float.com. Thanks again for the review! Cheers, Siobhan

### "The best resource management software I've used"

January 18, 2019

5.0

Float does a great job coordinating resource allocation among multiple projects in a visual and seamless way.

Pros

1\. I can search by name of the teammate or the project 2. I can create a report of scheduled hours based on any period of time 3. Clicking on the report tab automatically picks up the project at which I'm looking at now in the scheduling tab 4. Editing allocations is easy

Cons

1\. Load slowly for organizations of 100+ teammates 2. Once, when it asked me to reload to get the new version, then it stopped working

### "Great Time-Tracking Platform!"

August 25, 2023

5.0

As an end-user, it's very easy to use. I'm pleased with the service.

Pros

Once you get over the learning curve, Float has an intuitive and efficient layout. Time tracking is very fast.

Cons

The learning curve was moderate. This could certainly be improved.

### "Great for consulting firm"

January 16, 2019

5.0

We were using a shared google sheet and it just got more and more complex and unusable, so I went serching for an alternate solution. Float really helped us visualize our schedule across multiple clients and team members. It also has simple reports on utilization which used to take quite a bit of time.

Pros

It’s easy to use. Provides a high level view of staffing for a 20 person firm.

Cons

I wish I could see a longer view just showing weeks. I wish we could better customize views by team members. I’d like the reminder emails be further out than 2 weeks.

### "New User"

August 22, 2023

5.0

Pros

I like the overall look, minimal interface and many helpful tooltips and on hover states. I find this product generally looking modern and intuitive.

Cons

Visual differences when reporting same amount of hours on different days: For example - on Monday I was working on 1 project and on Tuesday they were 3 projects I was involved in - I report the same amount of hours, but the length for those days varies due to gaps between projects. Visually I see that I reported different length (height of cards). I remember feeling confused when logging my hours for the first time. It would be helpful to see them all visually aligning at the bottom if in total there was the same amount of time.

### "A fantastic, easy to use software that gets the job done"

August 16, 2020

5.0

Pros

The simplicity of Float was what sold it for us. As a company with around 90 very busy engineers and designers, entering workload data needed to take less than 5 minutes. With Float we can do this. Once all the data is in Float, managers can easily see who needs more work and who is overloaded. Support is also fantastic. The instant message service on the website always gets a fast response.

Cons

No major issues. If I had to nitpick, I had to create a workaround to allow all employees to be able to automatically see every project in the system sithout assigning it to them. To do this I had to make every user an admin. But this works fine.

Alternatives considered

### "Timesheets made easy"

August 25, 2023

4.0

Pros

It's difficult to know how exactly how my next week will go, and where I'll spend my time. Float allows for flexibility as I can track time to different clients easily, without lots of admin or support.

Cons

The platform is visually quite busy, making it difficult to scan

### "Easy to enter time and track budgets"

August 22, 2023

4.0

Pros

It is easy to log time towards specific projects and tasks for each of those projects. Having the ability to add a note as a reminder of the exact task to which the time was logged is particularly helpful.

Cons

The scheduling homepage is not intuitive for the new user. The home page should clarify that the scheduling page is not the logged time page.

### "I use float everyday "

August 13, 2020

5.0

We're juggling a bunch of different client projects. Float keeps me organized and sane.

Pros

I used to use Trello to stay on top of my projects, now i use float. I can see what everyone's working on, and plan around not only my presentations/deadlines but the entire companies.

Cons

i've never used float mobile. I'm trying to think of when I would though, usually I'm starting my day sitting at my computer looking at Float.

Hi Brent, Thanks so much for your review! In case you do still use Trello too, we've just launched an integration so you can import cards into a sidebar in Float, and drag and drop them directly onto your schedule. Feel free to check out the details here, https://www.float.com/blog/connect-trello-and-float. Thanks again! Cheers, Siobhan

### "Excellent tool for team scheduling and follow-ups"

August 2, 2019

4.0

Our company went from 1 to 5 people in the past year. We also have interns or students that are only here for a while. We now have a tool that allows us to follow up projects and team schedules in a very clear way without creating big overhead costs. It works fast and efficient for us.

Pros

Easy to use. We can view the schedule of the entire team in one screen and make instant changes if necessary.

Cons

When creating tasks, the difference between creating projects and clients can be annoying. Also: provide more colours! ;-)

Reason for choosing Float

Google Sheets was not efficient anymore. Teamleader had too many features for our current needs and would have created more overhead costs.

Google Sheets was becoming to complicated to follow up billable hours, tasks and schedules. Float brought all of those together for our team.

### "Finally -- time management that works for project managers and visual designers"

January 17, 2019

5.0

We needed a way to easily plan and then communicate on our respective tasks for the week. With Basecamp (what we use for project management currently), we could pull to-do lists, but we didn't have a macro view on the week or the month with the time that it would take to complete those tasks. My designer felt like he couldn't really "'visualize" his week and couldn't communicate easily what tasks were taking more or less time than needed. Float has proved to be invaluable for time management and communication.

Pros

I like that I (as a project manager) can manage time easily for our team of two, but can easily add contract workers, and that visually it works for my designer as well -- he struggled with really seeing how his week needed to flow when just using tasklists, like Basecamp.

Cons

Anything I haven't liked has been added (e.g. ability to do recurring tasks, reordering tasks). It's a small thing, but we also spend way too much time trying to figure out colors for all of our projects after using the default ones. I would love to be able to add a project from the schedule interface -- like when I go to schedule time and I type in a project, it tries to find it; if it's not there, it would be nice to just have "add this project" without having to exit out of the scheduling box and go into Project.

### "Float makes the most annoying part of my job a lot easier"

September 1, 2023

5.0

The biggest business problem that Float solves for my job is keeping accurate logs of billable hours. This is a huge help to the people that resource my work and helps me keep tabs on where I'm at with individual projects.

Pros

For the most part, it's a user friendly software that helps me track hours and stay accountable for progress in real time.

Cons

Splitting tasks can be tedious. I also find it frustrating having to hide resources that aren't currently available.

### "Simple resourcing"

January 17, 2019

4.0

Pros

Float gives our full team a simple, visual view of resourcing and availability - much more 'at-a-glanceable' than hacked together gCals and other non-specialised tools we've used in the past.

Cons

It's a little lacking when it comes to flexible accounting of leave - a lot of our team take half days for personal appointments and the like - but we're only able to mark entire days in the calendar. While it's better than it was before, it still leads to confusion.

### "One of the best solution for growing our business"

December 7, 2018

5.0

This year we doubled our team, and we ran into a problem managing our resources. Our management team could not manage all the people and projects, so we decided to organize the resources and teams with a resource management app in paralell with a pm tool. We started using Float, and selected Tuesday as our resource meeting day. All of our employees use this tool to check what we planned for them for the next few days / weeks.

Pros

Float is an easy to use online application to organize your business resources. You can add clients and projects, you can differentiate them with different colors. While you are creating tasks you can also add descriptions to them. You can also create reports.

Cons

How we use it at my company, I see no disadvantages or any bad parts of Float. Only works days setup confused us, as we cannot preset those saturdays which are work days.
