The team at Grow have always been outstanding to help us solve everything from simple to very complex problems in our to achieve our reporting goals. Pros Can do almost anything with patience and logic, no need to distract developers to assist with complicated data queries. Customer support is outstanding, always taking the time to properly understand and help address anything you throw at them - very solution-focused. Cons Can be a bit buggy at times, especially after big releases, requiring more attention than I would like towards "fixing" metrics that were previously working fine. Can also be very slow with large data sets, some of which are just too big for it to handle. CEO Computer Software Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "HORRIBLE Experience" January 17, 2025 1.0 I have found the experience from the beginning to be poor, I over looked it originally as their product is decent. The ongoing poor customer service is why we are leaving. The invoicing was atrocious, our CPA accountants could not make sense of it. Their system is not set up for Canadian credit card charges, always charged USD, then their solution was to return our payments but then charge us again only to result in the same issue. We are a small business and do not have time for these games. Then when trying to cancel, the contract does not mention any auto renewal clause for another annual term but references another document that was never sent. This company is poorly operated with a high oprice tag and I DO NOT recommend it, particularly with other better competitors out there. Pros Decent integration that are easy to use on your own. Cons Pushy sales team. Poor Customer Service. Expensive onboarding, where after 3 times in the platform, I knew how to use it better than the on boarder. Worst invoicing and I have ever dealt with. Invoicing does not work well for Canadian clients, they cannot figure it out. For the cost vs. other options it's a great tool. It's really helped us move more towards keeping an eye on the things that truly matter in our business. Cons It's a little difficult initially to fully understand how to get the data into the system. But, once you've done it then it becomes pretty easy. Our sales rep at Grow has been awesome to work with. We have enjoyed some time with Grow's technical team to answer some questions we had on implementing some widgets. All of these things has made us confident in the product that we have chosen to use. Pros What made Grow ideal for a small(er) business like ours is the fact they provide all three components of a traditional data warehouse solution under one roof: warehouse, ETL, and BI. We were able to engage a single company to handle all of these services without any prior knowledge of cloud computing, business intelligence, etc. The BI interface is much cleaner and easier to work with than another service that we have worked with. We have used Amazon Quicksight in the past and it always left me wanting more. I have not gotten that with Grow. Cons I will occasionally encounter some user experience or user interface issues. For example, some of the SQL syntax highlighting/auto-completion will not work. Sometimes text widgets will just "disappear" after I have dragged them onto the canvas. I haven't been able to establish a pattern, but it's kind of inconvenient when it happens. Pros It is vital to my every day, I used every day for 6yrs with my former company and when I accepted a position with a new firm I requested the new firm engage the platform ASAP. Cons The company was very " clever " on how it bills. They line item services and then list an incorrect total and then press for the difference. The first is the visual appearance of grow is amazing. They have done a really good job in making it look great. It makes people want to buy and use the product. My entire team is exciting for us to finish up the dashboards and roll it out. The ability to have multiple dashboards for different divisions on your team is great. The second thing they do really well is the ability to connect all your data in one place. As a small business that is building from the ground up, we have data coming from multiple location, Google Analytics, Dropbox, our website, quickbooks, etc. Now we have a central location that we can look at all the data. It has allowed us to look at our whole business in real time. Where grow falls a little short on is the ability to manually create. Everything looks great but sometime you cant show all the necessary data you need to, in the way you want to. The metrics are static and you dont have the ability to manipulate the data the way you want to, like where a number goes or create a needed metrics. For the most part some of the things we are trying to do are more robust, that typical businesses might not notice the constraints. Grows dashboard inability to be flexibility in its designing makes it hard, if there is something your really want to show but are unable, you are kind of locked in The main complaint is the full screen mode. We love the look and feel over it but for us where we would use this the most would be in a presentation. Where we would present the different dashboards. We dont like how you cant click to the next dashboard. The only option is to wait a minute or exit out and go to the next. If you have to exit out you lose the dramatics that the full screen dashboard creates. I have the ability to scroll over the numbers in full screen but I cant just click next dashboard. That part makes no sense to me. I can live without a metrics because it looks so great but If I cant present it, that creates an issue. Overall, it is a amazing tool, that I believe my company will be growing with. It has got great reception from everyone that we have shown too. And the main purpose is it is suppose to sell the business and how well you might be doing. It does a great job doing that. The customer support is really great. Pros The reporting functions in Grow are great, they make it easy to pull in data from different systems and combine data to analyze everything in one space. The data visualization is also great in making the data easily understandable to others in the company. Perfect for showing KPI performance. Cons Figuring out how to create data sets takes some time, some of the functions can be clunky. The main thing I don't like is that once you combine reports you can't go back and add another before you have to either start over or create another combination. March 9, 2021 1.0 After paying Grow for professional services to help us migrate to a less buggy version of their system, I received an email from an account manager whom I had never met asking for a “check in” call. The call wasn’t a check-in. It was notification that Grow was raising our price more than 100%. I was told that Grow’s prices were actually going up more than 3x but that they would be doing us a favor by only doubling them. My initial salesperson connected me with with Grow’s VP of Revenue. Identified in his professional email as “Mr. Revenue,” their VP spent the first 10 minutes asking me about my kids and family. He then offered me an 85% increase in price and a two-year contract term to “lock it in.” The reason for the price increase? To satisfy their investors. Needless to say, we’re no longer working with Grow. We found a more robust platform at a lower price. Pros Easy to connect to various data sources. Cons The platform has been very buggy, especially their spreadsheet functions. Moreover, they recently raised our price more than 100%. Within 15 days of implementing we had over 100 metrics and 10's of dashboards - six months later the Grow and the discussion of metrics is everywhere - slack, email, online, on company dashboards, in the hands of our investors. This all with one dedicated analytics resource. Pros Ease: because 100's of the most common data sources are pre-integrated you can quickly get past the headache of secure access and onto the business of working with data. Because you can do most analytics without deep sql knowledge more of the business staff can participate in developing the graphs and knowledge. Pace of Innovation: Grow is launching new features every month making it increasingly easy to develop the metrics you need. Pricing Model: Because this isn't a "pay per seat" model and instead a per metric model the value delivered is aligned with cost - occasional users, heavy users all can leverage the full power of the platform without breaking the bank. Cons If you want super advanced visualizations on par with the highest priced BI tools this isn't for you - this tool is rich but has made appropriate tradeoffs for the purpose of simplicity. Pros We were a somewhat early adopter of the platform, so I've seen a lot of change and improvement over the years from the software. They add useful features on a regular basis and have an amazing support team that is quick to help with any issues that arise. There is a large array of outside connections that can be pulled into the platform, making it easy to aggregate all of our data in one place. Cons It can be a bit tedious to overhaul metrics once they've been created if we want to update them to use the newest features.
