Pros The interface could be understood quite easily with minimal training allowing for quick generation of data reports. The SQL backend, data connections and data warehouse allow for the user to go into much further depth with their data. Cons Sometimes the platform would be slow to update and the data would could very rarely not update. CEO Information Technology and Services Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Great, easy-to-use non-technical tool for business insights" July 18, 2019 4.0 Overall, this has given us the metrics platform we needed to be able to build and maintain the reports we require to monitor and gain key insights to our business. The team at Grow have always been outstanding to help us solve everything from simple to very complex problems in our to achieve our reporting goals. Pros Can do almost anything with patience and logic, no need to distract developers to assist with complicated data queries. Customer support is outstanding, always taking the time to properly understand and help address anything you throw at them - very solution-focused. Cons Can be a bit buggy at times, especially after big releases, requiring more attention than I would like towards "fixing" metrics that were previously working fine. Can also be very slow with large data sets, some of which are just too big for it to handle. Switched from [Microsoft Power BI](https://www.capterra.com/p/176586/Power-BI/) PowerBI was way too powerful and developer dependent. Virtually impossible to build and maintain anything without heavy dependence on technical resources. We needed something simpler to maintain without technical dependencies. Not only do you have a limited number of meetings with the person who helps with the onboarding but you also have a time limit to complete those meetings. Once we had it half working, the connections kept breaking every time something changed. It was too hard to pay attention to what you changed in a spreadsheet or system and whether that effected the link in Grow. Again, we are a rapidly growing business so things are changing a lot. I sent a message to my "account manager" and she scheduled a meeting with me and a professional services manager. When it was time for the call, we were informed by the PSM that we no longer have an account manager. The PSM helped me through the process of requesting a cancellation of our contract. We went over a month with no response. All of a sudden our old account manager was back on our team. She informed me there is no way to get out of the contract and we would have to pay for additional help. The system is truly too robust for our business and even though it doesn't work for us right now, that doesn't mean it wouldn't have worked for us in the future. After this customer service experience, once our contract is over, we will never refer or come back to this company. It's astonishing to me that they won't do the right thing to potentially gain a customer back in the future or the potential referrals from our extensive network of other real estate homebuyers. Pros It is a powerful tool for someone who has the time to dedicate to it. The connections were easy and there were a lot of ways to customize. Cons The fact that they nickle and dime you when you need help and won't let you out of your contract when you realize it's just too powerful of a tool and does not work for your small business. Our sales rep at Grow has been awesome to work with. We have enjoyed some time with Grow's technical team to answer some questions we had on implementing some widgets. All of these things has made us confident in the product that we have chosen to use. Pros What made Grow ideal for a small(er) business like ours is the fact they provide all three components of a traditional data warehouse solution under one roof: warehouse, ETL, and BI. We were able to engage a single company to handle all of these services without any prior knowledge of cloud computing, business intelligence, etc. The BI interface is much cleaner and easier to work with than another service that we have worked with. We have used Amazon Quicksight in the past and it always left me wanting more. I have not gotten that with Grow. Cons I will occasionally encounter some user experience or user interface issues. For example, some of the SQL syntax highlighting/auto-completion will not work. Sometimes text widgets will just "disappear" after I have dragged them onto the canvas. I haven't been able to establish a pattern, but it's kind of inconvenient when it happens. The ability to integrate custom spreadsheets with real time data certainly make it a product to drive insights for marketing teams. It lacks the ability to create anything using ai or with any sort of speed. Pros The best features about Grow are the native integrations that pull in data. This makes building your metrics and dashboards easy. Their support team and engineers are very knowledgeable and helpful along the onboarding process. Cons The lack of templates for dashboards, especially in Marketing, where 90% of the dashboards and metrics are the same for all businesses, is my only frustration. Taking Google analytics and building a web traffic 101 dashboard should be simple, it just takes too long. Once you do take the time to set any metric and dashboard up, it does a great job staying updated and will show you exactly what you built. Pros It is vital to my every day, I used every day for 6yrs with my former company and when I accepted a position with a new firm I requested the new firm engage the platform ASAP. Cons The company was very " clever " on how it bills. They line item services and then list an incorrect total and then press for the difference. The first is the visual appearance of grow is amazing. They have done a really good job in making it look great. It makes people want to buy and use the product. My entire team is exciting for us to finish up the dashboards and roll it out. The ability to have multiple dashboards for different divisions on your team is great. The second thing they do really well is the ability to connect all your data in one place. As a small business that is building from the ground up, we have data coming from multiple location, Google Analytics, Dropbox, our website, quickbooks, etc. Now we have a central location that we can look at all the data. It has allowed us to look at our whole business in real time. Where grow falls a little short on is the ability to manually create. Everything looks great but sometime you cant show all the necessary data you need to, in the way you want to. The metrics are static and you dont have the ability to manipulate the data the way you want to, like where a number goes or create a needed metrics. For the most part some of the things we are trying to do are more robust, that typical businesses might not notice the constraints. Grows dashboard inability to be flexibility in its designing makes it hard, if there is something your really want to show but are unable, you are kind of locked in The main complaint is the full screen mode. We love the look and feel over it but for us where we would use this the most would be in a presentation. Where we would present the different dashboards. We dont like how you cant click to the next dashboard. The only option is to wait a minute or exit out and go to the next. If you have to exit out you lose the dramatics that the full screen dashboard creates. I have the ability to scroll over the numbers in full screen but I cant just click next dashboard. That part makes no sense to me. I can live without a metrics because it looks so great but If I cant present it, that creates an issue. Overall, it is a amazing tool, that I believe my company will be growing with. It has got great reception from everyone that we have shown too. And the main purpose is it is suppose to sell the business and how well you might be doing. It does a great job doing that. The customer support is really great. The people at grow are really helpful. Having a support team that can assist you means a lot. They are looking out for your success. Cheers Pros I like the look and feel of grow. It is easy to implement and use, I am so glad e have it. Pros The reporting functions in Grow are great, they make it easy to pull in data from different systems and combine data to analyze everything in one space. The data visualization is also great in making the data easily understandable to others in the company. Perfect for showing KPI performance. Cons Figuring out how to create data sets takes some time, some of the functions can be clunky. The main thing I don't like is that once you combine reports you can't go back and add another before you have to either start over or create another combination. March 9, 2021 1.0 After paying Grow for professional services to help us migrate to a less buggy version of their system, I received an email from an account manager whom I had never met asking for a “check in” call. The call wasn’t a check-in. It was notification that Grow was raising our price more than 100%. I was told that Grow’s prices were actually going up more than 3x but that they would be doing us a favor by only doubling them. My initial salesperson connected me with with Grow’s VP of Revenue. Identified in his professional email as “Mr. Revenue,” their VP spent the first 10 minutes asking me about my kids and family. He then offered me an 85% increase in price and a two-year contract term to “lock it in.” The reason for the price increase? To satisfy their investors. Needless to say, we’re no longer working with Grow. We found a more robust platform at a lower price. Pros Easy to connect to various data sources. Cons The platform has been very buggy, especially their spreadsheet functions. Moreover, they recently raised our price more than 100%. Within 15 days of implementing we had over 100 metrics and 10's of dashboards - six months later the Grow and the discussion of metrics is everywhere - slack, email, online, on company dashboards, in the hands of our investors. This all with one dedicated analytics resource. Pros Ease: because 100's of the most common data sources are pre-integrated you can quickly get past the headache of secure access and onto the business of working with data. Because you can do most analytics without deep sql knowledge more of the business staff can participate in developing the graphs and knowledge. Pace of Innovation: Grow is launching new features every month making it increasingly easy to develop the metrics you need. Pricing Model: Because this isn't a "pay per seat" model and instead a per metric model the value delivered is aligned with cost - occasional users, heavy users all can leverage the full power of the platform without breaking the bank. Cons If you want super advanced visualizations on par with the highest priced BI tools this isn't for you - this tool is rich but has made appropriate tradeoffs for the purpose of simplicity. Pros Grow being a no-code BI tool makes it easy for almost all of our use cases. All of our stakeholders can track KPIs with relative ease even though they don't have technical backgrounds. Cons Grow is lacking in technical capabilities that most other BI tools are offering like Python capabilities, machine learning inputs, pre-built predictive analysis graphs, customizable roles and permissions for roles, and more. It elevated performance and helps us understand past, current, and future performance trends. This helps us model and predict future goals. We're excited to see all our data points in one place. Pros Grow makes displaying data from multiple sources very easy. We have many different data points that stem from multiple locations and user interfaces, and Grow displays this data all in one place and on many different customizable dashboards for the different departments that may want to look at the same data, but in a different way or combination. The charts, run rates, goal trends, and simplification of data presentation has streamlined our operation and made all of us extremely competitive! It's great seeing our teams' performance lift simply by giving greater insight into the business in an easy-to-interpret interface. Cons It would be a nice addition to layer in some gamification.
