### "Horrible software and platform"

Pros

This platform is not user friendly and does not provide anything more than other providers

Cons

The customer support is really poor. Online chat guys do not have enough knowledge and experience. Toast does not care about its customers. They promised me price match but they did not accept it. I asked them to eliminate a couple of subscriptions from my account two months ago. They did not take it serous and keep charging me each month for it. This company and platform is horreble. Stay away from this platform. There are a lot of bug in their platform and is not user friendly. Stay away from this processing fee company.

### "Customer service is terrible"

For simple issues, their customer service answers immediately. For major issues, they have to escalate it and it can take days to solve problems. This isn’t our first major issue, and every time it takes a while to get it fixed. If you have a restaurant that does decent volume, I would suggest getting a more dependable POS with a customer service that can actually help and not just provide lip service.

Pros

The software is great when it works. But it isn’t dependable.

Cons

The customer service is terrible. Our POS stopped working and the tech support is terrible. Our restaurant was done, and so the customer service escalated it. It took a while to get a call back, and overall, it took a week to get it fixed. For some reason, they needed us to buy a whole new POS computer. This company is terrible to work with and we’ll be switching to Square in the future.

Pros

It is pretty user friendly, although it is mean to me sometimes

Cons

The fact that it took us so long to open, we had no opening support, so we are learning as we go, making many mistakes

### "Terrible Solution!!!!!! Concern that sales approaches are dishonest."

Pros

The general features were there, such as setting up a menu and taking payments. But all of the POS systems that I looked at offer these capabilities.

Cons

I believe that the customer support is dismal and ruins the whole experience. The POS terminal was flimsy and keeps sliding and tipping over. When I asked for the rubber footing that appear to be missing, the customer support repeatedly told me that they did not provide rubber footing and that I needed to by my own. My counters are not scratched and ruined. Most of my interactions with Toast for support has been similarly unhelpful from my perspective. There have been cases where the Toast Sales Representative communicated to me that features existed when they did not without additional fees that they neglected to tell me about. I believe that this is dishonest. In contrast, I would much rather have purchased a POS system that has less features with honest sales representation.

Excellent.

Pros

The handheld Toast device has revolutionized how we do business in our cafe. So much more efficient than handwriting orders! Being able to pay at the table rather than going to a cashier has made life so much easier.

Cons

Honestly can't think of anything I don't like.

Reason for choosing Toast POS

Toast is what's happening now and a fully integrated system. NCR was cobbled together and just felt all over the place - like they were still in the 80's.

### "HORRIBLE customer service"

The most aggravating issue we have is with customer service. You rarely get a real person on the phone .... wait times are often ridiculous .... and they are not timely with replies at all. We submitted an issue on June 17th via their online Toast Support (because getting someone on the phone was apparently impossible). It is now June 27th and the ticket is still open and no one has responded. Their customer service is the WORST.

Pros

Easy to learn and functions properly most of the time.

Cons

Glitches within the system (and you never know what it might be) quite often when they do software updates. On numerous occasions, we experience issues with double and sometimes triple ticket printing for no reason whatsoever & that thermal paper is expensive.

### "NOT WORTH THE MONEY"

They grew too fast and lost sight of what they were doing. They have lost control and customers are suffering. We have had the system for 1 year and are in the process of purchasing a new system.

Pros

There are not many pros to this system. Appears to be easy when watching the demos however the reality is that if you do anything custom in your restaurant this is not the program for you.

Cons

The upfront cost for hardware is expensive compared to other systems. They will sell you on a low monthly charge however if you want to use all of the features that they will sell you on you will pay dearly. Just a simple integration with a scheduling program will add an additional monthly charge. They will tell you that their credit card processor is competitive however do your homework - you will find out they are way overcharging for what most processors charge restaurants. Tech support is almost non existent. They have started using third party re-sellers which has confused the tech support even more. The third party re-seller that we have had to use (after being sold on the product by Toast direct) have made our lives miserable with the "that's a toast problem" or "we will get back to you when we get an answer from Toast support". If you have to go thru a third party do not buy this system, you will no longer be able to contact toast directly for help.

### "Customer Disservice"

Worst experience. The time to troubleshoot is not the worth any benefit derived from any hardware discounts provided to convince customers to onboard. I have wasted eight hours over three days with customer "service" to correct an email address and debit account. We transitioned a bank account and they continue to debit it. We have paid overdraft charges because of their inability to follow through on matters they provide "confirmation" emails of completing. I am still receiving emails to an old email address rather than my business email account regarding account debits and equipment purchases. This company only pretends to care about its customers. Do not use them for their merchant services. Find a competing offer, even if it is not materially cheaper, so you do not have to deal with Toast's ineffective customer service. They have reps that pick up the phone but they do not or have proven to be unable to resolve anything. I would further elaborate on the issues we have experienced but I have to contact them yet again to address the still unresolved matters previously outlined.

Pros

In-line with other products on the market.

Cons

Company has made it impossible to maximize the utilization.

The back end entry saves HOURS out of my week, and my employees are much, much happier with the ease of functions they use everyday (splitting checks, transferring tabs). I also enjoy the community and keeping in touch with Toast. It's not like one of those systems where a salesman comes into your restaurant, sells it to you, and never answers your call. Toast is constantly finding new ways to be a partner to us.

Pros

I most liked upgrades. With our previous systems, you bought them and that was it. We suffered for years without functions we wished we had. With Toast, if they don't already have it, you can bet it will be in a future upgrade.

Cons

It's what I like least but I appreciate: It's a LOT to learn, and it's constantly evolving. You really have to stay on top of it to get the most out of the system, but paying attention and a little research goes a long way.

Fast, easy to use, mobile friendly, great support when needed, one of the best for restaurants I've seen.

Cons

Sometimes to synch the mobile with the brain would take sometime and that was a bit annoying

Pros

The intergration and support is great. The terminal are a great feature

gets pricey with addons. Wish the hand held were least of had longer support.

Overall I have had a fairly positive experience using this system. While navigating it may be a bit tricky at times I have been more efficient using this software than other POS systems out there.

Pros

Perhaps my favorite thing about this software is the clean interface that is presented by the platform. It is not messy and makes creating orders fast. The user can easily see that there is a clear path and structure that the user must take in order to fulfill any orders- therefore making the process efficient.

Cons

This system can get complex at times specially at times when time is limited. The amount choices that is presented by this software can make navigating for the user a bit difficult as it can get seemingly overwhelming. However, this is only at first when the user first begins operating this system.

I've never touched a POS system in my life. Using Toast is as intuitive as possible and makes my life a lot easier!

Merchant fees, but that's not Toast's problem :)

### "Toast customer service failure "

It’s been horrible. I hate writing reviews to begin with. But people need to know the truth about their sales reps. Especially in the South Carolina/Georgia area. No response no follow up at all. I actually referred them another restaurant and they were bot going to give me the referral fee, until I pressed them on it. Wanted information on their marketing strategy, no response. I wanted information on several different products they offer, no response. I know Toast is popular, but I would stay away. Not from a technical standpoint, but their sales staff is not responsive at all. For the money you pay, should be much better.

Pros

The system works ok. However, response from sales rep is non existent. It just doesn’t happen. Failure to return calls emails or any sort of communication never happens. Would like to give them back all of their stuff

Cons

No response from sales reps. Take your money and disappear.

I’ve had 2 other POS products. This is far above the others in usability, flexibility & features l.

Pros

The ease of use for the servers is great. Very intuitive. Easy to back track if a mistake was made. Handhelds are excellent.

Cons

It took a little more time and effort to set-up the system, but that becomes a non-issue once everything is up and running.

### "An Affordable Alternative to Aloha and Micros"

A perfect system for a small restaurant with a lot of very handy features. They are extremely flexible with pricing options.

Pros

TOAST is a solid point of sale system available for a very reasonable price. Adding, editing and removing menu items can be done quickly and remotely. Printer routing and other back of house set up is a breeze. Customer service staff is well trained and very reliable.

Cons

Not really designed for large scale/ high volume operations. KDS screens have some issues.

Pros

Far and away the easiest POS software to use. If you are looking for software that anyone from the most tech savy down to the least savy, this is the platform I would recommend. The reporting features are easy to use and understand.

Cons

They lack in their customer support. They have been getting better, but as an early adopter, I saw where they grew too fast and forgot to help support their earliest customers with their issues.

We've had Toast for over a year and could not be happier. We never planned on switching from our old POS but after seeing a presentation of Toast we were blown away by the possibilities. Toast has increased our efficiency immensely which shows in our sales. We recently had over 10,000 people for our annual St. Patrick's Day Street Event. We've always been please at how easily it handles our volume, but wow, it ran smoothly and effortlessly all day long! We had 17 handhelds running and 5 terminals! We cannot say enough good things about Toast! We learn new things every day that increase our productivity!
