### "Poor Service and implementation false claims and possible fraud"

run away from toast

Pros

nothing but a big headache from day 1. Salespeople gave me the wrong info regarding pre installation steps. Financing was easy through a third party leasing company but that way toast got paid up front for their product probably knowing full well they were not sticking around that long.

Cons

This company has been very shady. The claims to match credit card processing by the sale person has yet to be fulfilled. The hardware is poor quality and ipad would have been much better. The software is ok but is not as seamless as micros or square it seems as if it was not designed for a restaurant. There is no follow up and account managers are non existent problems go unsolved for months. During implementation the manager never contacted me for weeks then had the wrong dates for going live that is very poor service and unforgivable from a contractor. I was billed for extra hardware and services I never received as well. Square is a much better pos for a small value conscious restaurant and if you are doing high volume Toast will not match credit card processing rates as promised it seems like a big credit card scam so far.

The support is lacking. You always get a tech to speak tech and when they look at your system they find other problems to fix and never help fix the one you need help with. You pay a monthly fee but they charge you for the support anyhow. The Sales staff can not work the system so don't bother asking them for minor help.

Pros

Back office is easy to use.

Cons

The cash management is so confusing we can never get it correct. They think they are making it better but they don't and the training is very lacking in that area.

We switched from NCR Aloha to Toast within our franchise system and it has been a huge leap forward. We went from an archaic product full of unnecessary layers of complexity to a streamlined solution that our entire team loves. Sure there are occassional issues as technology is an imperfect solution, but the Toast team certainly tries harder to resolve issues than some of the other bigger guys we've worked with in the past, including NCR.

Pros

UI is simple and friendly Software is modern and intuitive New features are constantly being developed

Cons

Level 1 tech support is just as useless as most other companies. Our assigned account rep has gone on vacation more in the past year than I have in my life.

Pros

Service, support, simplicity, reporting, integrated payment processing, online ordering, and overall functionality. When we launched our business, we had purchased a competitor of Toast's product that ran on iOS platform. Based on our needs and our gourmet mobile food business model, it seemed to be a great fit. But when we attempted to implement the other software, we ran into a variety of problems from the outset, and after 2 weeks of struggling to get the other system up and going, we realized we needed to find a different solution. Toast literally saved us! Their tech engineers were on site the day after we connected with them, and they set up up for success instantly! My favorite thing to say about Toast is that it just works! But it is also much more than that. It is a very robust and integrated tool that is available at pricing that is almost embarrassingly fair. A true "Champagne Product for those on a Beer Budget," to quote my uncle.

Cons

Inability so far to offer custom app(s) to help manage and monitor the business from remote locations. This is kind of nitpicky because the ability is there; it just requires signing into site. But I would like to have a self-controlled mobile app that I can use to monitor very specific data points on a real-time basis.

I moved our restaurant from Aldelo to Toast, and I've found it to be a Very Good Decision. Streets ahead of the competition.

Pros

Competitive processing rate, excellent customization, great integrated online ordering, cloud-based reporting so I can take care of all kinds of tasks from anywhere I have internet, and the list goes on.

Cons

I wish the monthly fee were a bit less.

### "Dynamic Product That Keeps Getting Better"

Toast is a great online POS Solution. The online ordering, gift cards and rewards has made an impact on our business. They also back up their product with solid customer support.

Pros

The software is very easy to train employees on and use. It is constantly being updated to include more robust functions.

Cons

The only con is occasionally it updates too fast before you get a chance to truly learn how to use the current functions.

Overall experience has not been good, should have stayed with Square, We Work, and Gusto.

Pros

I was happy to have one software to for scheduling, POS, and payroll together. We should have stayed with having 3 separate products that integrated with each other.

Cons

Very poor customer service. Each person I reached out to for help just wanted to pass me to someone else or open a Ticket that has yet to be solved. I do receive emails from them stating my cases have been solved, but my issues have not been solved. The reports are hard to use and I usually have to cobble multiple reports together to get any meaningful information. This software was written without consulting any accounting people. Data entry for tips in payroll is painful. Direct deposit for payroll is 4 days, yikes! And there is no termination check process, at least that I have found. Every feature is an add on with a price. Want a Tip Manager (good luck getting help setting this up), that is extra; want to intergrade with your accounting software, that is extra; want payroll to track time off, that is extra; etc....

I would not choose Toast if I had to do the process over again. Their system is great but their hardware does not hold up specifically their tablets and CC readers.

Pros

Great backend system that is easy to use. Hardware is great when it works but thats not often. Love having the ability to know how the restaurant is preforming when I am not around.

Cons

Replaced 7 of 9 pieces of hardware in just over a year. 3 did not last 6 months and then their replacements broke down 7 months after replacement. We were told the warranty does not start over from the time of replacements and had to buy new equipment.

We're able to track inventory and breakdown restaurant operations in fine detail. Customers love paying right at the table on the tablets.

Pros

It's simple and straight-forward. You make a change, hit Publish and see your changes instantly on the tablets. I love how easy it is to colorize menus. Servers make fewer mistakes because I color buttons to match the food/drinks. Customer orders red wine --> Hit the RED button.

Cons

I really have no trouble with the software. Sometimes support can be a bit slow on advanced issues.

Reason for choosing Toast POS

Toast was the best choice.

Pros

I have found their system to be very easy to work with and definitely cost effective. The thing I hated about the other POS systems that are IPad based is that a new Ipad is so ridiculously expensive to replace. And I don't know about y'all, but when you hadn employees tech, you better be prepared to replace it. I have added tablets in literally less than 20 minutes on a Friday night because I decided that day I wanted a phone station. It was easy to do, and I took care of it without support. But when I have had issues on Friday night, like when Time Warner decided to go down for a couple hours just cause, Toast was right there on the phone and able to walk my staff through the offline experience. The data is easy to get on the back end, and in real time. I love being able to log in and see what is going on at any given time. Or edit the menu because I forgot something from my recliner at home, if I am actually able to that day. Y'all know how that is, or will.

Cons

Their software is a constant work in progress, which is a good thing. They have added a ton of features since June 2014 when I started with them. There isn't anything I don't like about the system. My only complaint is they don't yet have a fully integrated scheduling system. That is coming though, and there are solutions that sync with Toast, but I just haven't gotten away from our spreadsheet system yet. Old habits die hard.

Overall, I'm able to accomplish everything I need to from the back end. I can pull sales reports, compare sales to other periods easily, pull labor reports to process payroll, edit users and their permissions, pull up individual orders for refunds or receipts, etc. I do feel it's a bit overpriced and the customer care response team could use some improvement, but overall it meets our needs.

Pros

Reports are easy to pull and highly customizable.

Cons

Customer service is slow, often taking days or weeks to fix issues.

Pros

The biggest benefit to our use of the software is the inventory control. We are a dessert bar, so our daily inventory is finite. No need for an 86 List.

Cons

What I like least is the inability to change the Tip Percentage or the Order that the Tip choices appear on the Quick Order paying with the Pad. It has made us have to use paper....the First Choice, should not be No Tip.

Pros

Easy to use and very simple and clear layout for each screen. And it is very easy to modify new changes. And the website is reliable to give most current updates in sale and labor and other statistics.

Cons

I wish that an apple app will be available soon to make it easier for management staffs to check on immediate statistic. Also the customer service takes forever to reach every time we call. And the customer service representatives respond in emails , most of the time they don't really know what the real answers they are providing but some generic email templates. And they will ask you to call them if you have any questions. So yes, you are back to square one.

nothing much to brag about a system that is very expensive but doesn't work as it should

Cons

Customer service, on hold for over 90 min how can you operate a restaurant when your system doesn't work and have to hold for over an hour? this system is very questionable

### "Love My Toast POS"

I love my Toast POS because it's easy to navigate and I like it that I get the reports I needed in a flash. I have a very busy schedule that I must admit I don't know that "ins" and "outs" of the POS system but I few click here and there I'm able to get the information I needed when I needed them. I'll probably be more happy if I'm able to find time to just explore what else are there to find that this system can do for me. I usually enroll in the webinars offered to members but at times, I even don't get to finish the webinar because I have to attend to calls, customers, and vendors when they are in my place of work. But I try anyways. Thanks for a great system.

Pros

It's all in one.

Cons

When something goes wrong with the system and I lose connection (which practically happens in every software, I guess).

As a small business owner, I am able to stay on top of activity even when I am not physically @ my location. Keeps me in touch all over, even in Costa Rica on vaca, was able to see if anything was amiss. The new system(had for a year in January) has made me feel much more confident in my staff and in my actions that are helping to increase my bottom line.

adaptability, visibility and ease of use

Cons

constant changes and updates, usually good, but most times, a hassle for the management staff. The install was not done as professionally as I expected, but support has been great.

Pros

Its a true partnership, Toast is a company that stays true to their word and works with you to reach your goals. Its always growing and becoming incredibly robust; from the the enterprise level, to the day to day features for the servers. Its a wonderful platform

Cons

It still has some work to be done with the Enterprise menu management, it is really hard to keep organized in its current format. Enterprise reporting times out often, and it becomes a bit of hassle to pull a large report.

The only issue I have is not with the system but with the restrictions put on. Which is a nice feature of the system.
