Toast is a great innovative operating system. If they worked on improving transaction times, the overall grade would improve to 5 stars.

Pros

Ease of use. The operating system is easy to learn, takes an average crew member of mine an hour to learn the whole system.

Cons

It’s internet based so the transaction times for guests are slower than other POS we have had.

Pros

Contactless payments are a huge perk, it's easy to use, was simple to figure out the portable handhelds for events, and it's overall just an efficient option.

Cons

I didn't love the fees, and the service could be inconsistent at times. I do like that the fees are flexible so that you only use what you pay for, but you are paying marked up feeds. We compared Toast with Zettle and some other POS options and these issues weren't unique to Toast though.

### "Toast might not be for you"

Software is not nearly as innovative as they claim. Yes they use a cloud but when toast is having issues and their whole cloud goes down you cannot do much. None of your tablets and terminals will talk to each other, you lose tabs and you cannot process credit cards. This has happened at peak times for us and is a huge inconvenience. Another big draw back is that if you own a bar/restaurant like us this isn't a system that's ahead of the curve. You are not able to accurately track your bartenders indivual sales. You also don't have the ability to precisely see when/what exact time sales are being made. It's very hard to notice this until you actually get the system at your place. I pointed this out to several people at Toast. Most of them were unaware this was the case. They told me it would be dealt with and then two months later said it wouldn't be because Aloha didn't have it as a feature, (which I found out later they do) and also because they felt not enough customers were requesting these features. One more thing is that they overcharged us for the startup equipment and debited $500 more than they should've. They eventually correct things but had I not spoken up they never would've.

Since we opened Toast is one of the best things I did. Not only easy to use but easy to train employees on. One of my better choices I have made here at PUB56.

Pros

Truth is I like everything about Toast. Havent had a bad situation yet.

Cons

Would really love to have tables on dinning screen say what server has what table

Pros

Toast is a POS that allows for easy set up, on the fly flexibility, and excellent data analysis. Its modern platform and easily tailored interface allow you to arrange data in a way that suits your business needs. The key is properly setting up the platform from the get go to be able to track data in the way that is consistent and provides for business analysis. The tool is intuitive and easy to learn if you've used other legacy players.

Cons

Toast is not as customizable as some other larger POS players. You also risk some challenges if the wifi goes down. Further, it can be too easy to change/manipulate at times, which may allow for other users to set things up in a way that doesn't work for the organization.

This is one of the best POS systems I have had the opportunity to work with.

Pros

Easy to use system with an intuitive setup. They are also willing to develop features which are not currently supported

Cons

This is a fairly new platform; as such some features are still under development. Mostly reports are not as easy as they could be to breakdown, but they are getting easier.

Pros

So far it is incredibly easy to use. I was able to learn the back office very quickly.

Cons

The only problem I have so far is that the processing fees are higher than others I have encountered. The features that save me time might outweigh that extra cost, but that is still to be determined with us being open such a limited length of time.

Pros

Toast is a great POS system. It is easy to use for both front office and back office features. I like the constant updating of new features!

Cons

The one area that toast needs to work on is hardware shelf life and customer support. We have had issues with credit card readers on the tablets and have not gotten much support with the support teams.

Toast was fantastic to work with on all fronts.

Pros

It was an easy set up that took very little time. The implementation team was fantastic, and the shop was up and running in no time. Pricing is also fair

Cons

Changing POS's is hard. It involves re-training staff etc. Although toast made it easy, these issues remain difficult.

??? Still working out all the kinks....waiting for another month to pass and possibly year end for final thoughts

Cons

So far not being able to capture formatted reports. Building a spreadsheet as it does not transfer only selected columns.

Pros

Intuitive, easy to train staff on. The depth of information available is very good. The pricing is reasonable.

Cons

Customer service lacks follow through compounded by failing to assign one person deal with an issue from beginning to end. Hard ware doesn't hold up to high volume demands. Not designed for high volume environments.

If you do no have many complex operation, this is a great system.

Pros

Easy to use, accurate reports and a good system to manage payroll information. The team is always looking to update the system to our needs

Cons

When it is necessary to adapt somehow the system is very open to any user with adm rights, so create standard items is not always easy.

Ofter our disaster TOAST did nothing to take responsibility and assist

Pros

IT was Ok once it's fully installed but it took weeks and there was no tech support.

Cons

Install was a total disaster and cost our company over 40K in losses. They refused to take responsibility for their failures. We are preparing legal action.

I love toast! It’s one of the easiest pos systems I’ve ever used! It looks nice, it’s easy to train people on, and I’ve never had any problems with it!

Pros

Toast is easy for employees and customers to use! The processing time is quick, it accepts all forms of payment even tap, able pay, & Samsung pay, and it’s easy to troubleshoot!

Cons

I love toast! There’s not a single feature I’d change about it!

Pros

We've had Toast for 2 months, and the comparisons from our old system to this system are just night and day! The ease of menu changes, contacting support, using the system on my laptop while I'm home on a day off-I'm a much happier manager. The staff all agrees that it's much more intuitive, and when there is a problem (wrong tab closed out, remove an item from the bill) it's so much quicker to solve.

Cons

I love that it's so much more customizable than our last POS system, but (sometimes) that necessitates there being more clicks per order. The money tray for the registers are smaller than we're used to. I wish there could be a bit more room in each money slot.

Pros

Super easy to use, constantly updating their software. Support is very responsive and they listen to what the customer wants.

Cons

Really about the only complaint is that you have to use their credit card processor, I loved the one I had previously but haven't been upset with the Toast one just wish I had the flexibility.

I've used many similar products like this across my town and this is by far the easiest and user friendly that I have come across. My favorite feature of this program is the touch and drag your table to any table feature.

Cons

There really isn't anything about this program that I didn't like but, if I could improve anything it would be the keyboard layout.

We have has some bad wiring and really bad connectivity issues. This has led to CC processing problems. Check have gone missing and would show up a few days later. The tablets would go off and come back online all the time. It seems to be a system with a bunch of good ideas that work for small places. I am not sure about the scalability of the platform at this time. I think you will get there soon.

I am happy with Toast and would recommend to other restaurants.

Pros

The integration with third party delivery apps works pretty well. I am able to produce the reports I need for sales tax filings. There is not much delay in generating different reports such as looking for tax exempt sales, reviewing deposits of card sales, etc.

Cons

There is a monthly charge which to some might be a bit steep.
