### "Toast for Restaurants! "

Pros

The one thing I like best about toast is the ability to customize almost everything. From the table layout to the color of the buttons. It’s very user friendly and affordable.

Cons

On the back end I did have some set up issues that only a rep could fix for me. That was frustrating and seemed like a glitch.

It gets the job done. Don’t expect much in the way on knowledgeable support. Luckily, it’s a stable system, so it doesn’t have that many issues. Be prepared to have credit card payments crash on Friday and Saturday nights.

Pros

Ease of use, everything is fairly straightforward.

Cons

Customer support, trouble shooting and chat/phone communication are all terrible.

It keeps me up to date in real time with what is happening in my restaurant.

Pros

The suite of features in the software make it easy to integrate into almost any restaurant environment. They have an excellent team to get you started and help you design your system to your specs. Email marketing and loyalty program have been great for us.

Cons

I am not very happy with the fact that we were forced to take on Toast as our payment processor! This is costing us way more in fees than my original "Interchange Plus" processing that I had through my bank. This is a little disconcerting and could add up to some major dollars in expense!

Has helped big time with speed of service, and cut down on mistakes.They are very open to any issues that come up and get fixed ASAP

Pros

it is a web based product, and works even when it goes off line.Hand held tablets, allows servers to enter directly from the tables, no writing down oders, then going to server stations to ring in.

Cons

the worst part is when going offline. have to make sure server4 stays on same tablet, and keep up with the checks

### "Toast POS: The Modern Day POS System You Should Be Using"

Overall Toast is the future of the POS game. As evidenced by its recent fundraises, Toast is anticipated to take over the market. It may take a bit of time for larger, older organizations to adopt the technology given the amount of time they have input into older systems, but it's only a matter of time before the switches happen.

Pros

Toast is a phenomenal POS system that blows the legacy players such as Aloha and Micros out of the water. Toast is very easy to set up, manipulate on the fly, and track relevant data. The handheld devices allow for a more streamlined ordering system, shaving precious seconds off the time to perform a transaction--something that is essential in a restaurant environment in which throughput is core to success. Toast is much more intuitive than other POS tools and the day to day users have found it to be excellent.

Cons

Toast does not allow for the same level of customization that legacy players do, so you can't change every aspect like you can on those tools. Further, the handheld devices rely on excellent Wifi connection, so you may struggle if there is a lag or an outage on the internet. Further, some changes take a little longer than you would hope to update on the handheld devices.

Until the recent update, I had a great experience with toast. This update should have been focus grouped by the people who interact with it on a regular basis. Making changes like this only cuts into the ability of a business to make money. Your job as a technology company is to make making money easier not more difficult.

Pros

The Toast version prior to the latest change was excellent on the front end. Very intuitive and organized. The problem I have is why would you change the entire functionality that made your company take the industry by storm? It seems irresponsible and disrespectful to make drastic changes without actual input from the companies you serve.

Cons

Could be easier to adjust backend edits. The user interface update did not improve the customer experience. It was not an improvement from the former version.

Pros

I love how easy this system is to use. I was scared to try this and was sooo happy we did. It really made everyday so much easier & service became more accurate and FASTER!

No problems on using Toast to give a negative rating.

After about a year of use, Toast has proven to be one of the most trustworthy and reliable POS systems. With it's integration with Hot Schedules, it has made scheduling and payroll tracking a breeze. Highly recommended to restaurants looking for a change in POS software!

Pros

\- User friendly - Intuitive - Fantastic customer support - Self updating - Good price - Integrated with most scheduling platforms

Cons

There's not much I dislike about Toast. With that said, it can be a bit glitchy at times. It's also a relatively new company, so some of the functions haven't quite been worked out perfectly yet.

### "New Restaurant - so glad we made the switch before opening"

Great product, I tried to implement another POS system for months prior to opening. It was so cumbersome, I switched to Toast last minute and have been extremely happy with the system.

Pros

It was seamless it integrate our products onto the software prior to opening. The kitchen display screen is a lifesaver. Customer service for the POS and Payroll has been outstanding. Getting help when we needed has been amazing.

Cons

User permission levels are clunky to implement, as well modifiers for food items. Also, the integration of the POS to the Payroll. I have to manually delete hours every payroll for all employees on salary. They still needed to clock in to use the POS, so it records their hours, thus causing me to have to delete it while doing payroll. Seems like an easy glitch to fix, but nothing available yet.

User friendly and efficient. That pretty much sums it up but they said my response was too short.

Cons

### "Toast is NOT worth it"

Started well but ended terribly. Called last week to see if they wanted to keep our business. They did not get back to us. We will now likely be switching to Spot On.

Pros

Originally, it was easy to use and had novel technologies. We were one of the first companies to adopt the platform in Chicago.

Cons

The handhelds and computers are always going off-line. Their switching of security systems left us off-line for days and took out other software and programs that weren't even toast related. We lost THOUSANDS of dollars. However, that isn't the worst part of Toast. If you go with them as currently constituted, their restaurant support will become the bane of your existence. Long waits. No help. They will "escalate" the case and no one will ever get back to you. It is absolutely miserable.

In the beginning we were having to pay a very high amount. After looking into it more we were paying for services we weren't even using. I wish TOAST would've realized that we weren't using these services and contacted us. We've lowered the monthly costs to fit our needs and now it is more affordable.

Pros

Reports. We like being able to see everything from home when we are not at the restaurant to tell if we need to go help or not. It is also nice seeing the financials.

Cons

Cost and customer service. We have to wait too long sometimes to get help. I feel the customer service could be better. We only call when we have issues that need to be addressed right away.

We do not currently use the POS system for this client. I do, however, have other clients that use Toast POS and really like the ease of use.

Cons

I wish there were a few more options. Also, there are a few things that have been discontinued that I used to use--Progressive Discipline

It has been mostly positive, except for the issues I mentioned above.

Pros

Pretty simple to use. Reliable, little or no downtime. Terminals worked well and held up in the environment.

Cons

Support has really gone downhill. Too long to get resolution to some tickets and some never get resolved. Mobile app is an issue since employees can change their clock in times and Toast does not track if it came from the mobile app. No direct integration with 3rd party delivery companies.

They are constantly striving to improve and be best in class and as a POS system they are the best we have ever used......and we have used 3 before this one

Pros

It is a very user-friendly POS system on the front and back end. Being cloud-based makes changing things on the fly extremely helpful.

Inability to custom brand online ordering options, and inability to print menus from the POS menu database

### "Best POS with Most Half Baked Features and Worst Support"

\- Easy installation - Easy to use - Suitable for small businesses with doesn't offer delivery services

Cons

\- Worst support - Not suitable for Pizza restaurants - Doesn't offer half and half toppings option - Online ordering doesn't provide any protection against disputes - Every module is an additional charge(online ordering, mobile order and pay, marketing, API, integrations, kiosk, kitchen display system, multi location modules) - Reporting doesn't differentiate between overtime and double time pay - Discounts based on dining options are not available(Discounts can not be set only for take out orders - all the discounts are valid on all type(take out & delivery) order ) - Online ordering page doesn't provide required picture specs(like resolution and aspect ratio). Pictures won't be optimized at all to make the online ordering page faster. - Unable to customize location picker page - They claim that they are the payment processors but fail to take responsibility or help with disputes - Once a restaurant is live its hard to get resolution for any issue(imagine even with 9 restaurant we struggled more than ever)

It's relatively easy to use and set up. Being able to adjust prices and buttons on the fly is helpful, as well as color coding them.

Nothing at all. If I don't get support there's nothing I can like.

Cons

Customer service sucks. There is absolutely no service support. No one can answer your questions. No fixes anything. It's a waste of time and money.

Best POS system that I have worked with in my 44+ years in the Hospitality Business. Very user friendly.!

Pros

User friendly in all aspects.

Cons

Need quicker access to specify items availability ( Out of stock, Quantity available, In stock ) When adding a New Employee ..they do not show on the POS screen to clock-in until the next day..

With now being in business a full year now, I have and I still am learning pro and cons of doing business. I have worked in restaurants but I have never been on the manager/owner side and it's not as easy as you think it is. When running your own business for the most part you are on your own! I sat down with a computer tech to figure out the best POS system for my business. There are SO many out there and being unfamiliar with them a lot of research was done! I attended the Gordon Food Show a month before we opened and I got to see first hand how Toast worked. I was very impressed with the system and how easy it looked to operate (remember I've never been on this side of the business) and we had decided to work 100% with Gordon Food Service because of their support and looking at our best interest for starting our business. Now a year later, I could't imagine being with another POS system so no regrets here on choosing Toast for our POS!

Pros

Customer Support! - I rate them 100 on this!! Any questions I have big or small, they are just a phone call away! If my call isn't answered right away or I get busy, they have the feature to leave your number and they will call you back ASAP. Customer Service - Being a tech and answering some of the crazy questions (I'm one who probably has the most) they are always patient, friendly and very professional when answering questions.

Cons

Credit Card Processing Fees - With other Processing companies out there some are cheaper but overall with Toast, they win. It's the hidden fees you have to watch. Toast fees appear to be higher but what you see is what you get where with the other guys you have to read the fine print.

We use Toast as our jazz club and every single employee absolutely adores the system if they have any experience with another point of sale systems. It is much more professional than a system such as square in my opinions and seems like a wonderful middle-ground between an industry standard like Aloha and a more intuitive and user-oriented solution like clover.

Pros

User Interface is absolutely gorgeous So much more intuitive than other systems (seems like it was designed by me) Very fast transaction and screen speed easy to add things to menu/change prices Works very well so any sized restaurant makes splitting checks way easier that most POS systems

Cons

Receipt printer that we got from Toast could have been a little nicer. Was very light and moves around a lot.
