### "Best tool for documentation!"

December 15, 2022

5.0

I have been using Confluence ever since I have entered the corporate world. It is a very essential tool for companies in organizing and storing information. In my case, our company has a separate space for each department which allows users to share ideas with ease. For project management, we can track the real-time progress of action items. When we have new employees, they just refer to Confluence for their training plans/ modules which is very efficient!

Pros

Confluence is our go-to tool for storing and organizing data. For new hires, this is their holy grail. It serves as our data dictionary, a cheat-sheet for every employee. This is where we manage all data specifications, design, technical documentation, etc. We can easily create and share pages. My favorite feature is the ability to create workflows and diagrams- it's very convenient!

Cons

I think I would appreciate an improvement in table editing. There is a restriction where I am unable to insert a table inside a table cell and/or a table inside an Expand micro.

### "Confluence Review"

November 16, 2021

5.0

We mainly use Confluence as an information hub. We construct office-specific guides, tech guides, how-to guides, FAQs and so much more. It's a great library for all things related to our day-to-day business. Overall, it's a nice means to document and provide backup is immediate support isn't available or possible but sadly sometimes, wading through the pages via the search option isn't the nicest to use, UX-wise, but it's a small thorn in our sides.

Pros

\- Easy to use and easy to build useful wikis and content. - Consistent style and formatting amid pages. - Preview pages is such a useful tool, really nice to be able to see your page before it goes live. - Lots of widgets and tools to choose from. - Great for linking guides and Wiki guides to one another.

Cons

\- Limited amount of fonts, punctuation customisation, and overall text options. - Images can behave strangely depending on where they're uploaded to in the page. For example, within a collapsible heading. - Search option can be difficult to find content.

### "A good project management tool"

November 3, 2022

5.0

Pros

A great project management tool and an industry defacto standard, most people use, due to its reliability, stability, ease of use in a spectrum of CLI to a good UI and UX , with a recent cloud integration and the Forge UI application and meta language, easy to customize and use with large teams, an excellent collaboration tool with Jira and other altassian products.

Cons

The software is really complete, with little complaints on existing features, needing no additional product purchases.

Pros

The features like access control and document sharing were some of the features that I like most and have used the most in this software.

Cons

One thing that I faced a problem with a couple of times is getting customer support to resolve issues. t is rare but that is one thing that can improve.

### "Clean and intuitive solution"

May 12, 2022

5.0

Our organization uses confluence in addition to other software solutions. So, we have the luxury of taking the best bits of confluence and not using the parts that aren’t so great. Though it is priced a bit higher than what I think it is worth, it is a good program to use for a lot of different things.

Pros

I think the confluence looks very modern and clean. For what it is able to do, compared with its competitors, it does beautifully. It is easy to use, has good functionality, and makes things look modern and not dated. There are a lot of macros that can also be added on to improve functionality and tailor it to the needs of your team.

Cons

With confluence, sometimes it is hard to make specific edits. When really getting into it and using it to its fullest potential, it does take a little bit of training. It also may look intimidating at first but once you get the hang of it, it’s OK. I don’t like that there aren’t a lot of free macro add-ons.

### "Life saver for software projects"

April 1, 2022

5.0

I have been using confluence every day for the last five years and I love how efficient and easy confluence is to use. It allows you to organize your pages into different spaces according to your needs and has an amazing set of tools for content editing. I remember before we used to store our data in JIRA cards or in MS word everything was just all over the place without any management. Now confluence is our one-stop solution for all our documentation needs. Using confluence we have all our content in one place and well organized

Pros

Confluence is the most useful documentation tool of all time. It allows you to have all your documents in one place and not only that but it organizes them so very well. The number of tools it provides for editing a document is just amazing, something that is missing in all other documentation tools. The customizable templates are very useful too. I love adding images and videos to my documents, arranging the texts in blocks or tables, highlighting the important notes, etc. Confluence lets me do all of this. I also like how it allows collaboration of multiple people and highlights the contributors.

Cons

I did not find any cons in the product itself but I would like to see better support service for confluence

### "Confluence - A life-saver for teams that want to collaborate on documentation"

November 17, 2023

5.0

Pros

I love the searchable content functionality. Makes it easy for users to find relevant information quickly. Crucial for avoiding duplication of efforts, reducing time spent searching for information and improving overall efficiency.

Cons

I can't think of anything to be honest. If I have to say I would say it would be better if integrating confluence is easier that what it is today.

### "Documentation Resource and Sharing"

January 19, 2021

5.0

Confluence is a nice tool to keep documentation organized as long as you remember where you're putting it (bookmarks). The tool is not sophisticated enough to provide ease of mind but it does provide a place to store documentation and the ability to share it or set permissions to intend on the correct people to view the items. Overall I as well as others use it but its also not the best and we all know it can be loads better in terms of features and formatting.

Pros

The rich text central location of document storage and the ability to share based on permissions is a nice-to-have tool for large companies or groups. Utilization is tricky as every team or group will use it in their own way and organize their own way so even if you implement this in your company and you're browsing another department's documentation, you will find essentially that it is just their own internal documentation which requires a little bit of a lucky search to find what you're looking for. Essentially this is a glorified document cloud storage which allows version control, permissions, and sharing.

Cons

It is not much different than say any other software or tool available in this category. It has some nice features like version control and seeing a complete history of who made changes to what along with comments and a social feature to it where you can subscribe but honestly there is so much more potential here especially from a company like Atlassian. I just feel they really dropped the ball here by not implementing better integration with some other apps which are already available. Example is that their spreadsheet implementation is a nightmare. The formatting almost always behaves irradicably and it has the bare minimum when it comes to these spreadsheets. Why not implement at least at the base of other offerings? For a paid product, the level of quality is expected to be much more.

### "Best in class document management, collaboration, and knowledge management solution!"

June 22, 2022

5.0

We wanted to sunset SharePoint services and move to a more inclusive tool, and Confluence allowed us to do so.

Pros

No training needed to figure out how to use this tool which provides a return on investment second to none. As well, the document management side with a simplified navigation structure to locate what you need when you need it creates for a very productive environment.

Cons

I have nothing bad to say about Confluence.

### "Great Tool for Content Organization and Management "

January 15, 2023

5.0

We have been using Confluence as a main software for content management. We use it for all our project related documentation like high level business requirements, enhancement requests, technical specs, meeting notes, project roadmaps etc. It seamlessly integrates with JIRA, which makes it such a great tool to be used by AGILE teams. Overall, Confluence is a very robust and powerful tool and it provides a central place for all your documentation.

Pros

Confluence is a great tool for having all your documentation and knowledge in one place. You can create wiki pages for each topic and group these pages under 'Spaces'. Multiple team members can work on one page simultaneously. It captures a detailed audit trail on the changes made at a page level. You can have strong control on the content publishing by defining a robust review and approval process. It has a robust search functionality and it seamlessly integrates with JIRA, MS Teams and other third party tools.

Cons

One major issue with Confluence is that when multiple people are working on one page simultaneously, then you need to refresh the page in order to see the changes made by others. Also, the access control can be complex and glitchy sometimes.I would love if the user interface for Confluence is improved.

### "So far, it is the best tool for teamwork"

May 29, 2022

4.0

With the help of confluence, we're able to work together on our project even though our team members are located all over the world and come from a wide range of backgrounds. As a result, all of the project's information may be stored in a single location, making it convenient for everyone involved. This is a huge time-saver.

Pros

Confluence provides a safe method for sharing knowledge and working on projects among team members. The main business, Atlassian, provides a wide range of reliable plugins. Because everyone on the team can make changes to the document repository and see when and who made them, this is one of the finest features of confluence's document sharing and management system.

Cons

Many plugins are available, and it might be difficult to pick the ideal one for our purposes. This takes up a lot of time. The guidelines are typically adequate.

### "A lot of potential not being used."

August 13, 2022

4.0

This company had good intentions but the way it’s set up makes it easy confuse data. Search engine is good but I haven’t seen a filter that can help isolate the info I need from the info not even relevant to my company.

Pros

That we can collaborate with each other across a medium sized company with a large team. The search function is helpful when researching data. Keeping notes is really easy as I can just create another page without having to take a web design class.

Cons

Because this is used by 8 different different businesses under one umbrella, the amount of unusable information is daunting when trying to find an answer. I work on timer so finding this information needs to be fast, but weeding through all the uses data is a headache.

### "Confluence a great tool to create a knowledge base and collaborate"

November 16, 2023

4.0

Pros

I enjoyed the ease of creating new pages and all the options available to keep the pages looking neat, which helps a great deal with being able to navigate. I also enjoy the sharing features, as it's more convenient than dealing with permissions in google suite. This increases the ability for collaboration!

Cons

Searching in certain sections on Confluence could do with an update. It's near impossible as the default is to search the entire workspace as opposed to a section you're in. This was "fixable" by creating an index page, however, not everyone does that. Also, just a minor inconvenience - it would be nice if the default when you click a link opened a new tab. In Confluence it changes your page, easily avoidable once you're aware of this, but a bit frustrating in the beginning.

### "Versatile, powerfull, easy to use"

November 25, 2018

5.0

As with other Atlassien products Confluence is just a charm to use. It is a great Wiki and it continues to be the gift that keeps on giving the more atlassian products you combine with it. I would absolutely chose Confluence again in the past and in the future. If you manage it smart (by setting up well conceptualized wiki spaces and making people patreons of certain areas in order to avoid cluttering) I could not imagine any solution better suited to Knowledge management and business documentation than Confluence.

Pros

We use Confluence for serval years now, together with Jira (Ticket Management) and Bamboo (Build Server). It has proven its value time and again for us and provided us with clear, easy to navigate and edit business documentation for almost all areas of business. The Editor is esy to use, there are Plugins for all imaginable use cases (for example specific PDF exports) and a great FAQ and very helpful community. The Editor for content is fantastically in terms of ease of use and results to be generated. Also all Articles are stored versioned, so you can easyly go back a version, or check what has been changed in case you have to get back up to speed on a topic you left checking a while ago. You can follow authors, topics or wiki Spaces so Confluence keeps you in the loop about what is happening. In case you work on confidential material the user access management is just a dream to use, simple, powerful and without any ruged edges. Additional Features are added and when they are they are well thought through and perfectly conceptualized. I never have found a feature which did not deliver what it promised and more. Some are not for me but the ones that were introduced and sounded interesting generally were. This is THE tool for anyone who wants to document all kinds ok business knowledge from simple things like HowTo or FAQ Article to complex branches of deccsion documentations connected to development progress (by Jira ticket integration).

Cons

Confluence has a lot of great features. The main Issue with Wiki Systems often is they work great in teh beginning and later become bogged down with badly maintained content or just forgotten structures. The search for the wiki still is not perfect. It has improved and is fine to use but I have seen better. There are also not a lot of features that support administrators in decluttering a large or huge Wiki and sometimes we had issues for complex, nested user rights. Also as always the case when you have an ecosystem of plugins, you have to make sure anything is compatible with a new version before you update, especially if it is a third party extension. Don't get me wrong, there is not much to complain here, you have to really look hard in order to find anything bad about Confluence.

### "Great product for a Small / Medium Bussiness"

July 7, 2022

4.0

My experience using Confluence is great, we stopped having several places to store the same information or share results, now we share everything in one place.

Pros

Allows to have one single place for all the company's documentation, this reduces efforts and allow an easy more controlled data sharing. We have very interesting possibilities with other collaboration tools. It is very easy to use, just type, tag and share. Just like using any social network.

Cons

Even though this is a very easy to use tool, sometimes the navigation is not so easy to understand. Users cannot see edits in a document in real time like Docs in Google Drive. Lastly, some formatting options are quite basic, a little or more options would be appreciated.

### "A wiki like software, Successful Tracking and Project Management"

September 13, 2021

5.0

As mentioned in the title of my review, it's like a wiki version for the company's documents. I can easily find almost everything that I am looking for specially when tracking a document or checking for reference of hierarchy. It is the best solution for providing guide and solution documentation for my clients/customers.When I was still employed under an e-commerce company, we used confluence across most of our departments. It is very useful for finding information, reference for training because it serves as a knowledge base for our company's content. It can also be used as reference when checking metrics and product information within the company that is very important for the decision making of higher management.

Pros

\-No need to use multiple MS software like Ms Project, excel or even Word for documentation. Now I'm using a single tool for my Checklist, Requirement list, action plans, help guides, and testing strategies. -I like how it is integrated with JIRA which is also one of the main tools we use at work. All Jira dashboards are available within Confluence which allows documentation to be supported by task. -There are ready templates for creating different types of documents. There is an option to create hierarchy for documentation and link them to each other to avoid duplication.

Cons

\-Right now, exporting of documents is only limited to Word and PDF file types. It would be better if there were more options. -Adding the option to customize forms would be a convenient feature. Instead of only having the pre-build forms. -It is also better if there will be more complex support for searching algorithms for discovery when searching, not just by typing the exact keyword

### "Take your collaboration and documentation to a whole new level "

April 1, 2022

5.0

Overall this software has shown us a competent different way of doing project documentation.

Pros

Confluence has proven to be a incredibly powerful tool in the project management and documentation space. The features and functions that this piece of software have will change the landscape of how you do documents for a team. My favourite features are the @ function which emails your team members and then being able to see when they actually checked what you @ them for in the project - it allows you to know when people are viewing and working on your project.

Cons

The only real downside for me is the cost - if you’re looking at implement for a company to run multiple projects on it can become a bit pricey but that being said it is a really powerful collaboration tool and drives better accountability and collaboration and clarity on goals/

### "Confluence is the best tool for content management and collaboration"

October 11, 2021

5.0

Overall confluence is the must have tool in any agile project development, as it is used for variety of use cases.

Pros

Centrally managed space within the team. Automatic email notifications for updates in pages you subscribe or watch. The third party integration with atlassian tools and other tools make it excellent tool in an automation era. Good template support and developers can use this for different purposes. Rich support of plugins and support for adding code snippets and markup.

Cons

Sometimes its quite slower to load the page when the page we try to edit is bigger. Atlassian is removing support for data centers and encouraging only cloud based option. Text formatting sometimes becomes challenge. Search engine does not work as efficient.

### "Confluence For the (Easy) Win"

May 26, 2022

4.0

Pros

Confluence has become the defacto wiki tool for most of the companies that I've worked with. The barrier to entry is super simple and VERY easy to setup (either Enterprise deployment or in the Cloud). Either way, most engineers I know these days are very familiar with Confluence. There are also a ton of plugins and enhanced features that you can bolt onto Confluence which make it robust and scalable.

Cons

There are a few things I don't like about Confluence: 1. The search functionality is a bit... wonky (?) to use... they try to load predictive results, which don't open in a new page automatically, it takes too long to load sometimes and if you press 'enter' and don't wait for the predictive results to load it takes you to entirely new page where the results have to load again. Also if you try to search before the JS has fully loaded the search doesn't work, takes your focus away. This means I have to be very slow when using the search feature and it easily frustrates me. 2. They advertise all these awesome plugins and support widgets, which cost a ton of money, but they only apply at the space level, not an individual account level. I'd be more inclined to buy stuff if I could also apply it to my personal Confluence account and take it with me. There are features like enhanced project management, and task management, and charting, and RTF features that I want, but the last two organizations LOCK THIS DOWN and getting a plugin installed is like moving heaven and earth. 3. Im a web dev and an embedded systems engineer. I like to touch things. Confluence can be a bit locked down sometimes and regid in the HTML5 layouts and JS run on page. I wish I could be an 'advanced user' and just make the changes within page. But I cannot. Im stuck with the one size fits all. All of that said, they are gripes of a dev, but otherwise the wiki space is pretty fantastic. I use it daily!

### "Powerful wiki software"

August 13, 2019

4.0

Confluence has become the place for us to collect information, across our business. We use it document our processes and policies (the access controls prove useful there), and our development teams use it on a daily basis to record the outcomes of discussions and to share knowledge.

Pros

Confluence does a good job as a tool for writing, organising and viewing all kinds of documentation. It's fairly wiki-esque, but with a more intuitive editor for pages that should make it easier to pick up for new users that might be more familiar with, say, Microsoft Word. As an Atlassian product, you can expect a full set of tools for managing access to different pages and areas across your organisation, making it more appropriate for enterprises than more basic wiki software that doesn't always provide the same level of control. Another advantage is the high level of integration. 'Macros' allow users to include a variety of rich content, and are customisable. Examples of integrations include JIRA, Trello, Microsoft Office, G Suite, and more. The 'Atlassian Marketplace' can be used to find and install more macros.

Cons

Although the editor is easier to use than the markdown used by a lot of other wiki software, it can occasionally be frustrating to work with. Not all macros and formatting settings behave exactly the same, so while you'd be able to fix these issues directly in markdown, you can end up trying out a bunch of different tools before you find the one you need to achieve your goal. As with all collections of articles, organising pages can become difficult. The software itself provides basic tools that allow you to define a structure for your pages, and these work well, but it still requires considerable discipline as your use of the software scales up.

Switched from

[Google Docs](https://www.capterra.com/p/160756/Google-Docs/)

We previously had a bunch of Google Docs in a shared Drive folder. This worked for a while but doesn't scale well. We needed a more powerful tool to better organise our information and control who could access it in a central place.
