It is a great way to create, edit and share documentation with the team. I use it as a knowledge repository on testing best practice documentation. Everyone can see it and I can restrict edit access for certain users. It's nice having everything centralized and accessible. Cloud Architect Research Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Best documentation experience I have ever made" August 30, 2018 5.0 Long time we used another wiki software to manage our documentation but it got outdated quite fast since nobody wanted to use this software. It was kinda awkward to use so the effort one had to put in to get a meaningful documentation was to big. We decided to switch the software and stumbled over Conflunece. The differences were amazing. It was so easy to use in terms of documentation, so we migrated all of our stuff and started to use it. Nowadays we create meeting notes, how-to articles and so on. On top we connected it with Jira and are now able to do the real fancy stuff. I kinda like documenting now... Pros It is very easy to create a meaningful structure for your documentation. Although there are multiple improvement areas in it. Pros Support is awesome. It can be customise with themes and colour combinations. It allows to track project status and individual tasks. We can tag team members in tasks. Cons Integration is a big difficult and lengthy process with confluence. Navigation is a bit difficult as well. It provides very less flexibility with templates. Creating a new topic was actually fun and without risk. Usually I hate writing documentation but Confluence made it so simple it took a lot of my hesitation away. Cons It was easy to get lost in the hierarchy of all the documents that were created. It's the best tool to regroup every tutorial, documentation, softwares and projects in my company. It's easy to use and search, we can integrate other tools such as Kudos or Jira and it's a fantastic ecosystem. We've used it a bit less than in the past, but it is still an excellent tool for team collaboration. Pros It is easy to use and intuitive for anyone that has experience with a basic word editor. Having some background in web design or coding would be helpful, but more in how you are able to structure tags and build your resources almost like a website. Cons A bit of a learning curve, so if you are hoping to have general team members update information it might cause some issues if they don't have the relevant experience. Pros I like that it is fairly easy to create new content - pages, blogs, etc. There are also a fair number of widgets ("macros") built in. Cons It is difficult to format and edit the layout of pages. Even with maximum permissions, there isn't much leeway in how pages are set up. Many of the macros are also limited in appearance (for example, you can't change the size of a drop down list, so putting it next to plain paragraph text looks odd). Pros Task management and great collaboration tool with good 2GB space. I also loved the page versioning feature of confluence. November 9, 2019 5.0 It can be a great software but really requires good internal organization and upkeep to be efficient. Pros I love the actual options within posts to create really rich content. I enjoy the draft mode options and the ability to share with only certain colleagues for certain posts. Cons Navigating or pulling up past posts can be confusing. If it's a very active day, posts can be easily lost in the activity feed.
