Overall, my experience with Confluence was positive. It’s a powerful tool for team collaboration, especially when paired with other Atlassian products. Once you get used to the interface, it becomes an efficient platform for managing project documentation and internal knowledge bases.

Pros

Confluence makes collaboration easy. I liked how organized and searchable everything was—especially the ability to create structured pages, embed content, and track edits over time. It’s great for documentation and knowledge sharing across teams.

Cons

The interface can feel a bit cluttered at times, especially for new users. Formatting pages can also be frustrating when trying to make content look clean and consistent.

I use this tool daily, and it helps me perform my job efficiently. All of our project's documentation is stored in Confluence.

Pros

What I like most about Confluence is how easy it is to create documentation and keep everything in one place. It’s also helpful for collaboration because everyone can contribute and update content easily.

Cons

What I like least about Confluence is that it can get messy with so many pages. It’s sometimes hard to find exactly what I need.

I've been a user and administrator of confluence for 15 years. I've scaled it up from 200 users in a department to over 25000 users across an entire organisation.

Pros

Confluence is a well established, feature rich, easy to use and highly scalable collaboration tool. It makes writing and sharing documentation very easy. There is a vast library of (mostly paid for) plugins that can customise the experience.

Cons

It's expensive and the plug in system ramps up the cost considerably as well. Plugins have a habit of launching for free but after some time they start charging. (usually shortly after you realise it's indispensable). They make it hard to remove and replace plugins. Th search facility is not configurable and heavily weights results to more recent documents.

My overall experience using confluence so far is still good, no complains. It is easy to use and gets the job done in creating internal knowledge and allows for easy searching of this information.

Pros

It is intuitive and simple to use, kind of like an internal wikipedia. I often find myself using Rovo to help me with smarter search suggestions whenever I need to look something up internally. Also I appreciate Rovo's edditing and context suggestions too.

Cons

There could be more governance features available to help editors and all stakeholders with ensuring all content is up to date. It is easy to create many pages, but hard to maintain them.

It is at times difficult to keep an overview, the copy paste function and how to work on documents is not very intuitive.

Pros

A great tool to document all tech details in one place; we recently started working on Tech stack documentation on Confluence and I found it very useful

Cons

It does not allow to embed excel in the confluence page.

Pros

It has well implemented page tree which makes it easy to find required content documentation.It makes it easy to create and manage documentation for knowledge base collaboration.It has good import/export capabilities and also browser extension works really well.

Cons

Two issues I've encountered with Confluence are the limitations on customization,which prevents me from making any adjustments and the restricted offline access.

Confluence has been a great wiki / knowledgebase software for our IT team that has really spurred on adoption because of how easy and natural it is for users to pick up and start using without having to learn a wiki formatting syntax. Even technical users like IT department will be resistant to documentation if the tools are too challenging to pickup.

Pros

The WYSIWYG editor is probably one of the best for a wiki software that you'll find - it is very close to MS Word, and can even handle importing MS Word documents.

Cons

The cost is a bit higher for a non-free team than other products, especially when a lot of wiki software is free or open source even. There are also a lot of knobs and dials for customization that can be overwhelming almost, although some may appreciate that.
