### "Excellent for Company Wide Wiki - Tech and Non-Tech Documentation"

May 24, 2022

4.0

Overall, We are satisfied with confluence. While UI can use a revamp, it’s still functional and has many use cases and it does the job right and provides so many integration options.

Pros

\- Integration with JIRA is just amazing and how it parses JIRA tickets and all the ways you can modify the views of your dashboard/table is amazing. - Team Space organization is great - Various designs you can make to organize your docs are amazing. The level of customization you’re provided is superior and it give you control of how and what you want to use as a link or button or anything - It allows searching - Notification for watched articles - Collaboration is great when working simultaneously on same page - Marketplace is amazing

Cons

\- The search can be a better as often it’s just not the results one might expect. The results also are ephemeral so if you click somewhere else on the same page you’ll have to search again. - The UI sometimes is cranky and speed is compromised because of so many integrations - Loads could be faster

### "Gute Tool fürs Projektmanagement "

February 19, 2024

4.0

Pros

### "Just ok - better document management systems out there"

September 11, 2022

4.0

Pros

This software is simple, and generally pretty easy to navigate, but once you start posting / maintaining documents, it becomes more complicated to use.

Cons

It's hard to find what you are looking for within Confluence. I wish it was simpler to search type of data you are looking for. Also, maintaining confluence pages are difficult because it's hard to edit documents that are already uploaded in the system.

### "The Perfect Internal Knowledge Database"

September 17, 2018

5.0

When WikiSpaces recently reported that they were closing their service right after I purchased an annual membership, both myself and my employer was quite disappointing. AS a result I lost funding for our internal knowledge database (it was a pet project to improve my value to the company). As a result, I experimented with many different alternatives, and finally settled with Confluence. I have been so happy with it that I also use it for my own small businesses knowledge base. it is efficient, has a dedicated mobile app, full of features and integrations, and carries a very modern look.

Pros

An incredible amount of features and integrations. Confluence is able to easily communicate with Google apps, Microsoft Office programs, etc. It even includes it's own widgets for creating Gantt charts! The presentation is quite modern, and though I haven't dig into it yet, I've seen that there's also a theme system in place to change the appearance of the environment. Embedding pictures and diagrams are really easy and have enough options to get it to look the way you want. Confluence frequently has both minor and major updates, it can be kinda exciting to login on a Monday morning and see something new!

Cons

It would be nice to have some level of image editor native to the app, similar to what one has in WordPress. It seems to have everything but a proper footnote widget, something that I really favor in both my research and my workplace. With the frequent updates, also comes the chance that not everyone will appreciate the changes; I had been using the blog feature for a few months quite happily, but recently they changed a few of the features in the blog function to make it more mobile friendly. As a result I lost a few features that I favored. It did however improve over time and I got over the lost of those features.

### "Promising software overall, yet still with lots of flaws"

September 26, 2022

3.0

Okay overall, but not yet great.

Pros

The tree on the left-side menu and also the slash to go directly to commands.

Cons

Editing experience is horrible, especially when I paste lots of pictures. That makes the page load much slower. Also, moving the pages around to a different parent page is so prone to making mistakes. However, the option to undo is not convenient (the pop-up just appears for a few seconds only). There's no Undo & Redo for the list of actions (not just with editing a single page, but all actions that user performs in their space). Also, sometimes the page really lags (not sure if it's because of cache issues).

### "Wiki Engine on Steroids"

August 7, 2019

4.0

We are using Confluence as our internal documentation storage system. It allows us to easily create documentation and share it among our various teams while controlling access to the teams. It is better than a document storage system for this purpose, as it allows us to create the documents on the fly, cutting a step out of the process and making documents easier to manage. We host it on site, so it is more secure than a solution like Google Docs as it's not on the web.

Pros

We use Confluence on a daily basis to document various aspects of our organization. There is a large variety of built-in templates for a variety of sorts of documents. We heavily utilize the how-to articles to record procedures. Although it does link with other Altassian products, like Jira, we don't use that functionality currently as we run Confluence on-site and Jira in the cloud. The upgrade to version 6 greatly increased the usefulness of the product, as it brought in concurrent editing, ala Google Docs, which was functionality we needed when developing procedures for an event as a group. The search and indexing capabilities make it easy to find a document if its location is not obvious.

Cons

Search and indexing can lose usefulness in the event you have many similar documents, like say a checklist that is executed often. I would like a function to be able to click a check box to "ignore results like this." The initial setup of Confluence was not completely straightforward, however, we were installing on an older version, version 5. (The upgrade to version 6 went much smoother.) I would prefer an omnibus install package if it doesn't currently have that rather than having to install PostgreSQL and the application. The LDAP integration could have been a little bit smoother than it was, although it is in line with the other Atlassian products I have integrated.

Reason for choosing Confluence

MediaWiki didn't integrate well with our other development tool suite. Many of our other tools integrate with Confluence.

### "So much more than a knowlege base"

September 12, 2023

4.0

What is solve with this solution is manage all de life cycle process of the documents, share information to the stakeholders and request approval when it is needed.

Pros

Confluence is the best solution for document management and knowledge base than i try, give me control in the entire life cicle of and document, is excelent for sharing, for request approvals and it solution understand the fact that approval cycles must be done with workflows.

Cons

As many Atlassiand products, the translation feature can be better, in spanish the solution is not clear, it must be used in english for better results.

Alternatives considered

[ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus](https://www.capterra.com/p/179501/ManageEngine-Service-Desk-Plus/)

Reason for choosing Confluence

We looked for more than a ITSM solution with knowledge base management. Conflunce is so much complete than others solution for this, and it can be integrated with jira ITSM solution

### "Confluence - never has it been easier to manage tasks/documents"

November 10, 2022

5.0

Use it daily in y day to day work and never once did I have issues that could not be resolved in longer then 5 minutes

Pros

All needed information about project/task allocation/progress/document is right there by hand. With proper setup needed information takes no longer then 1 minute

Cons

Search bar is preety much useless if the keywords are not setup properly which takes a lot of time. As well as using queries does not always result in wanted searches

### "Confluence: A quick take"

May 7, 2024

4.0

Pros

Confluence by Atlassian is a handy tool for teams looking to keep their documents and projects tidy in one place. It's great because you can find what you need quickly, thanks to its excellent search tools and neat tagging system. Plus, it plays well with other Atlassian products like Jira. Overall it seemed like a nice document managing system.

Cons

New users might find it a bit much to take in at first, and it can feel slow when it's loaded with content. There was a lot of documents to search for so even with tagging it was hard to find documents sometimes. Also, if you're on a tight budget, the costs might pinch a bit, especially beyond the basic version. In a nutshell, Confluence is solid for larger teams after a comprehensive solution, but smaller groups or budget-conscious folks might think twice.

### "Confluence for documentation."

December 14, 2022

4.0

I would say I stay above average to use this product but it needs many improvements.

Pros

I like the numerous features that confluence has in terms of documentation. It also provides way to collaborate better than other tools in the market.

Cons

The UI and the deployment model. We host this service in our own instance and it's very hard to do the cluster managed deployment as the documentation is hard to solve underlying java issues while doing it. They should improve their deployment models.

Reason for choosing Confluence

As i said earlier, the reason why we switched is because of it's feature set and the various integrations that this tool has. Confluence is tightly coupled tool with JIra and we use that as our project management tool.

### "Confluence - An essential tool for Enterprise to manage content and enable collaboration"

February 27, 2022

5.0

Over the last multiple years that I have used Confluence for Technical content management, Wiki, Project management - it is one of the easiest and most productive tools to use.

Pros

Its simple interface and direct dive in experience is very intuitive for a new user. The menu items are minimalistic but the embedded Altassian market place makes a rich source of available plugins and tools that can enhance the experience of what all can be done.

Cons

simultaneous content management by users on the same document is a little primitive

### "Good collaboration tool which is like an internal Wiki for the company "

March 7, 2022

5.0

We use Confluence to make release notes, unit test case documents, user manuals, document sharing. We use Jira for issue tracking and the integration of Confluence with Jira is very critical as we can track all the documents for a feature or for an issue from Jira itself.

Pros

The best thing I like about confluence is that it encompasses a large number of features. Mostly software companies work in an agile environment and this tool provides all the features needed for the team to excel. We use it for collaboration, for storing the project features and use cases, the unit testing documents etc. It also provides Gantt charts and other useful features as well. It has a mobile access as well which is like a cherry on the cake.

Cons

There are very less free apps and those apps are poorly implemented. The design is somewhat not so much flexible. The styling of the documents is somewhat restricted.

### "Do Documentation and more with Confluence"

June 3, 2021

4.0

Over all it has been a great Experience with confluence. Confluence literally is one solution to all project related problems.

Pros

There has been many great features with Confluence. The integration flexibility with JIRA and other k15t apps like scroll pdf exporter and scroll word exporter Make the documentation more alive and helpful. Dashboards and report generation takes it a step further. Confluence is all in one solutions for all project related qna's.

Cons

Some inbuilt features like default expansion of nodes present in the side bar tree are missing which should be provided with upcoming version of the confluence. Also sometimes page unables to identify an excel or a pdf macro and generates in form of attachment rather displaying the file macro. Not much problems though.

From project planning to tasks & team management, Confluence is equal to the task and has been a time saver for our team ( at super sales guys and gals) and it's with all confidence that I RECOMMEND THIS TOOL.

Pros

In one paragraph, Confluence provides a variety of team collaboration solutions that are very essential for productivity growth. It's extremely affordable and very reliable. It's a must-have tool if you wanna gain absolute control over your team's performance.

Cons

Ain't got no issues with Confluence by far. It's awesome

### "Confluence is a useful tool for product teams"

July 17, 2023

5.0

Pros

Confluence provides an easy way to document things. It doesn't have too many features like Word or Google Docs so it helps users to focus on the content and to keep things simple.

Cons

It's difficult to share documents to non-confluence users. There should be a way to at least share a read-only copy to users who do not have a Confluence login.

### "Simple to use and essential for Product teams"

July 26, 2023

5.0

I overall enjoy my experience with Confluence. Once you understand it, it's easy to use and you can link it up to other confluence sheets, Jira tickets or roadmaps.

Pros

I love that it has a simple UX to use and that we can create documents within parent documents and so forth. Also enjoy how it is really easy to share confluence sheets and that there is a plethora of templates to use as well. Love that you can tag people and link it up to jira tickets as well.

Cons

It's difficult to share confluence documents with people outside of product teams as they 1. do not have a login (would love a view only access without needing a log in) 2. they do not know how to use it.Sometime when two or more people are working on a document, it does not sync properly and I lose my work.

### "Great tool once you have it setup for your workflow"

December 9, 2022

4.0

Confluence allows us to generate and monitor our regulatory compliance documentation for ISO13485 software as medical device. This can be done with other tools but Confluence is widely accepted by auditors already. Its not as expensive as more bespoke tools, but you can run up a monthly bill quickly when you add more users.

Pros

Very flexible system that tracks documents and processes. Its a requirement for us to have tracked documents for QA processes, Confluence is widely accepted for regulatory compliance for things like ISO13485. Once configured and running its very reliable and works well.

Cons

There are almost too many ways to configure your Confluence installation or cloud account. If you've never used it before I recommend getting advice from an experienced user on setup. It can be difficult to remove older configurations, workflows, formats from the admin panel so I've tended to ignore these and stick to the ones we use regularly.

### "You can do anything with your ideas in this app"

December 20, 2022

4.0

Overall experience is perfect. Easy to use, nice UI/UX. For me the best tool to collaborate with team members. There are little bugs in access control, but nothing terrible. Highly recommend.

Pros

Management of documentation for project is awesome. The text editor is very robust. I think this is the best app to collaborate with another people on your project.

Cons

Access control is a bit chaotic. Sometime we have problem settings right for users and we need to repair them more times to get the right result.

### "Great for document storage "

June 30, 2022

5.0

It is perfect for document storage and we use it for historical projects. Being able to link pages via Hyperlink as well as being able to add tables and Lucid charts is a win.

Pros

You can connect it through AD and assign permissions to specific pages based on their AD group. I.E. When you add someone to a department, you don't have to add them to each specific page, but rather they would have access to all departmental pages. You can also give access to people from other departments by adding them to the AD group.

Cons

Search and page editing could use a little work. Search would be better would just a few keys words instead of the exact phrasing each time. When editing a page for the first time it is a lot of trial and error. The edit features could be marked clearer.

### "Good software for documentation but a bit expensive with NO built in security (data center)"

January 29, 2024

5.0

The support desk can be great, but when Confluence was hit with a CVE in data center licenses the support desk was not able to help in the situation.

Pros

Confluence is an easy to use software to create documents and have many options to expend and apps to buy for extra purposes. These apps cost extra money per year.. An start from thousands of dollars.

Cons

The price is very high for small businesses to start with. External apps are paid for and with a Data Center license with no security MFA build in, I find it ridiculous in a time like this the consumer needs to buy additional software for extra security measures. Especially the last year a few CVE's where released.
