Pros

I cannot wait to switch from Gingr to Goose or MoeGo later this year. Everything has gotten worse from five years ago to today. Nothing has improved. It only gets worse over time

Cons

It has gotten much worse. They won't let you use your own merchant services firm and their response times have gone from 20 minutes to three days

### "Requires serious overhaul in software and customer service"

Gingr has stopped answering calls, blocked me on social media but is still happy to charge for their defunct program. Will be dropping them as soon as possible.

Pros

Used to have great features and decent customer service. Report cards are the only saving grace now.

Cons

Customer service. My kennel runs 7 days a week, they don't provide useful support over weekends and lately I can't get responses to simple fixes. I assume they lost a key software developer from their staff because their program is littered with bugs now, especially in client communications.

### "Good for Owners, horrible for the end customers"

It shouldn't take 17 steps to schedule your dog for boarding. However, Gingr has made that a possibility. It's such a horribly designed product. The workflows are horrible. The experience is horrible. You will see the positive reviews are mainly from Gingr customers, the boarding facilities, not their customers, me. This is the #1 reason my boarding facility gets ANY negative attention is they made the horrible choice to go with Gingr.

Pros

That there is at least an online portal and I can make online payments... one at a time.

Cons

Gingr is horrible to use. It's not customer friendly and takes multiple steps to book an appointment.

### ""Most Useful Mobile App for Pet Owners""

There was a lot of time and effort put in, but the end result was not worth it. The implementation has been time-consuming and has not improved efficiency over the previous program. We spent over six months getting it functioning, and we've already heard that several of the tasks that our prior (free) program handled effortlessly with no effort are impossible with GingR. When I need help, I often get various answers from different members of the staff. If I'd been aware about Pet Exec beforehand, I definitely would have made that choice.

Pros

A reservation and point-of-sale system, yes, but also so much more. It's a pretty thorough software that helps with organizing, communication, and streamlining. If it hasn't been implemented yet, it will be soon, as new features are being added to the application as quickly as the developers can conceive of them. Even though I had my doubts at first, it turned out that getting help with technical issues was as simple as going online. Their customer support is excellent, and they have implemented the few feature requests I've made. Because of the built-in tipping system, our staff has seen a tenfold increase in their tip income.

Cons

I'm aware that there's often some sort of drawback to upgrading software. For four days, I thought about what I might say in this review that would be most useful to a new customer thinking about using Gingr. After two months of using Gingr, I still haven't found a single feature that I dislike.

### "Long Time User - I Highly Reccomend!!"

I love Gingr and am currently on a mission to convince my new employer to switch. If you have a dog care facility use them.

Pros

All inclusive, multi-functional, customize-able, and intuitive. You can become an expert by simply clicking around. The included staff training is very useful and effective. Customization is a 4/5, you can do almost anything you want within the confines of their general set up. The system is reliable and updates in the background with little to no impact on user experience.

Cons

The client portal isn't the most aesthetically pleasing and can be confusing at times. The customer support hours are stringent, and they lack a phone support option; but after you go live you need to contact support so infrequently it makes little impact. In my 5+ years working with their software I have needed to contact support maybe half a dozen times. My one big issue is the implementation team. At a previous employer, that was in the process of opening a daycare, I knew more about their software than half the team helping. BUT if you have any technological literacy it shouldn't be that major of an issue, just annoying.

### "Booking with ease "

Overall Gingr has been a great asset to our company, and was such an ease to transition into when we switched from our old Booking system. So many features, and so easy to use.

Pros

I like most that it's easy to use, serves for so many purposes in our Company such as booking Grooming Appointments, walk in services, daycare stays, daycare Evaluations, classes, and now we can use it in our multiple locations as well

Cons

The only cons lately have been inconsistent customer service with longer wait times, and the Phone Number search feature not working lately has made some booking over the phone take longer. Phone number search is usually our go to Customer look up. It leaves us with less room for error and less time on the phone with the customer for easier booking

Overall the software is easy to use, customer friendly, and not that expensive. Out of other comparable software we feel that this one has more functionality and more customization options.

Pros

I like that there are so many features and that they are easily accessible for both our customers and our stuff. I like that we are able to customize our customers experience and communicate with them easily.

Cons

It is very hard to implement and set up new software, it is also hard to export data if needed.

### "Not worth the price."

All the work and stress I put into it was not worth the product that we have now. The set up has been labor intensive and has not made things any easier than the software we were working with before. It has taken us over six months to get it up and running and have been told that there are things that our old (free) software did easily that GingR just can't do. When I reach out for support I frequently get conflicting information from different staff members. I honestly would have gone with Pet Exec if I had known.

Pros

Making boarding reservations is simple, the software keeps up with tracking vaccines, easy to add photos, returns are easy, the reports section is extensive, viewing lodgings is easy and helps for planning busy times.

Cons

Scheduling services can be difficult, software requires a lot of information from clients, special pricing/discounts for same family pets is very difficult, no phone assistance during set up or after, you can't adjust reservations once they're ended. Setting up took months as I am not a software designer and had no idea what I was doing. The whole time I really felt like I was on my own in setting everything up. Once we were set up there is no actual staff training - they just expect you to watch a video for everything. For the software to run the way its designed you need all teams in your business to be using computers/tablets all the time - not really ideal for people working with animals.

### "Don’t do it"

I’m beyond disappointed and frustrated.

Pros

User friendly, when we switched to this software the creators that also work in our industry were the owners. They were wonderful, then it got sold-twice.

Cons

The current owners are a credit card processing company and all they care about is cashing in on their fees. They have no empathy for business owners in our industry and they are failing fast. The software neglected to deduct credits off of packages for 2 days last month costing their clients thousands, anytime someone would post about this in their Facebook group it was deleted. How shady can you get?

We are sorry Gingr wasn't the right fit for you personally. 1st, to address a few facts: (1) Gingr was sold (once) to Togetherwork (TW), an independent holding company of niche software companies like Gingr. TW is not a credit card processing company. Our primary founder and developer stayed, as have most of us. While TW is mostly hands off, they do provide new resources for us to grow & provide more value to our customers. For example, this year we hired (3) developers, (3) onboarding specialists and (3) support staff. This is a very positive move for the long term future of Gingr and our customers - it's good to know you can rely on a stable company for years to come. Yes, we had a bug related to the deduction of package credits. This bug was fixed within 48 hours, and we helped all customers that needed it to mitigate the impact. Our private FB group is open to positive & constructive contributions for fellow Gingr users.

It paid off to take my time setting up the software's preferences. The customer service response time is quite good. Everyone who has worked with me or purchased from me has been delighted.

Pros

This software has allowed for things like automated email notifications, paperless operations, online reservation requests, and electronic report cards. We rewrote the whole thing from scratch when we migrated to Gingr. My staff and I love the convenient tipping option at checkout.

Cons

The electronic message will contain updates and reminders for many pets. Customers' attention spans are short, and they quickly lose interest after learning about a single pet. Our daily rate was easily converted to the Gingr overnight rate. The only other negative aspect of switching to Ginger is that I regret not making the switch sooner.

### ""Using the Gingr App""

Spending quality time configuring the software's settings was a rewarding experience. The response time from customer support is excellent. All of my employees and customers have been very satisfied.

Pros

Online reservation requests, electronic report cards, paperless operations, automated email notifications, etc. have all been made possible thanks to this program. When we moved to Gingr, it was a complete rewrite. Both my crew and I are huge fans of the optional tipping system at checkout.

Cons

Multiple pets' progress reports and reminders will be provided in a single electronic message. After learning about one pet, customers tend to ignore subsequent details. The Gingr nightly pricing was simple to convert to from our daily rate. The only other drawback is that I wish I had made the move to Ginger earlier.

### "The Gingr Advantage in Pet Care"

Gingr is the best option for doggie daycare in my opinion. One of my favorite things about them is how user-friendly they are, both for our customers and our stock. It's wonderful that we can interact directly with our customers and respond to their specific requests.

Pros

Full, versatile, open, and user-friendly. You can learn what you need by just perusing the web. Employees benefit greatly from the associated training. The software is not only cheap and easy to use, but also very user-friendly. This program outshines its competitors in terms of features and customization options.

Cons

The consumer portal often has an awkward interface and looks outdated. Assuming you don't have any major issues after going live, you probably won't require support very often, since they're only available during specific hours and not via phone.

### "Gingr from day one"

Overall, it has been a positive experience and I can say that as an early adopter of the software before it was improved to where it is now. Yes, there was growing pains, but the support team helped us through every issue until we rarely need to ask for help. There is also a vibrant community on FB. What I would like that I haven't seen is a way to see how other businesses are using Gingr. Some way to snapshot other peoples' processes to see if we could improve ours.

Pros

\- the people behind the product are very responsive, especially the support team. Chat support has answered every question we have ever posed and on many occasions have gone above and beyond by following up with additional information and support after the initial contact - the software has a good amount of flexibility and customization to tailor it to the business rather than change business procedures to adapt to the software - frequent updates and improvements to the software - good knowledge base with lots of video reference. In fact, on many occasions the great support team has made custom videos to show me how to do something

Cons

\- would like a bit more flexibility in customizing reports - client portal needs a bit more work, but there is a webinar next week, so that might be improved - would also like some customization control for run cards - not sure if this is a pro or con, but there are many features that we do not use in Gingr and still have enough to run a busy business. I expect other businesses use some features we don't but not all the ones we do. Bottom line is that with that much to offer there are a lot of features you can use to adapt Gingr to your specific business needs

Pros

Initially Gingr revolutionized our operation from how easy it was to learn and use. There support was superb and quick, the dashboard gave you a great overall of the day.

Cons

The financial reports within gingr never tallied with the income received and didn't take online payments nor did it have a subscription model and wasn't GDPR compliment. These issues, made us leave Gingr in 2019/20

Extra time to spend with clients and boarding pets, staff love the reports, owner loves the wealth of detail the reports give us for all aspects of the business from occupancy count to grooming details. Clients love the fact they no longer have to wait for the office to open and can make reservations 24/7 as well as confirm and make payments on line anytime.

Pros

It gives us more time to spend with the pets in our care and to provide more details to clients. Clients love the fact that they don't have to wait for office hours to request boarding or grooming, especially on the weekend when we have short office hours. Also they love the deposit program since they no longer receive letters or mail payments!!

Cons

It is difficult to learn software over the internet but since I had an assistant who was able to help it worked out fine but I wouldn't want to do it alone. However the support team was awesome and had patience and wisdom in handling new owners

Easy set up Easy to navigate at times Results are easy to pull Since it’s web based it making it easier to use on any device Checking out can sometimes be easy Better than most doggie kennel softwares. Much better !!

Cons

Some updates are not needed and make things more difficult to do. When asking support why end of day is different on different days, they weren’t able to explain why. Features that were promised are now being told aren’t taking place Promises for new products coming out are not met When website is down not easy to find a number for contact

The program is user-friendly, affordable, and simple to operate. When compared to similar programs, we find that this one offers superior functionality and configuration flexibility.

Pros

I highly recommend Gingr for any doggy daycare needs. The many features and the fact that they are simple to use for both our consumers and our inventory are two of my favorite aspects. It's great that we can cater to the needs of each individual consumer and have open lines of communication with them.

Cons

The customer portal isn't often easy to use and has a dated design. Support is only available during limited hours and not by phone, but once going live, you won't need to contact them very much anyhow.

We love Gingr! It allows us to run two facilities simultaneously with ease.

Pros

The best part about Gingr, hands down, is the chat support feature. It is incredibly convenient to be able to get expert support at the click of a button! We also really appreciate the ability to monitor daily capacity. We're a large facility, so this feature is extremely important to us.

Cons

The only area of improvement I notice is the reporting. I would love to be able to easily pull reporting for memberships started within a date range, memberships cancelled within a date range, and overall more membership reporting.

Saved time and money immediately! Their customer service is outstanding! We absolutely LOVE Gingr!

Pros

Our favorite part of Gingr is the ease of use along with outstanding customer service! We switched software after 8 years in business and a customer base of over 6000. It was an extremely scary thought since we were using the same software since day one. The prep did not happen in a day by any means but I will say Gingr has it laid out extremely well in a step by step "to-do list" that made it fool proof. Follow all the steps, watch and read the help articles and it will pay off when it comes time to transfer your information over. We were using not only a software that had ZERO customer support but also had limited reports and functions. Our customers LOVE that they can interact with the system, set up reservations and view their account on their own time. Every process in our day to day activities were streamlined saving us time and money immediately. Training our employees was simple and it was fun seeing how excited they were to dig deeper and explore new ways to do tasks. Our incoming phone calls have now been reduced, which was our hope, since the customers can do more on their own such as buying packages and making reservations. Lets talk ink and paper...the savings on this alone makes Gingr more then worth it. Also, the credit card system is outstanding along with the emailed report cards and receipts. I researched different software systems for 2 years and I definitely made the right choice with Gingr! If you are considering switching, look no further!

Cons

I know there is usually a down side when switching software. I waited to write this review for 4 days so that I could come up with something that would be helpful to let a new potential client know if considering Gingr. We have now been using Gingr for 2 months and I can not think of one thing that I like least about this software.

### "Scaleable and Intuitive"

The free support team is great. We use them a LOT. We have been happy with out switch and hope that Gingr will continue to develop functionality in order to continuously support it's users as quickly as we are able to grow.

Pros

We switched to Gingr about a year ago from 123Pet. We had been using 123Pet since our company opened 10 years ago. Over 10 years we have expanded to 8 locations, and had begged 123Pet to keep up with our expanding company's needs. They could not. The switch to Gingr was daunting, but their customer service and support was excellent and we tackled it as a team. Gingr combines a central database, easy switching of locations in order to maximize bookings and lots of flexibility to customize how the software works to our business. They still have room to grow and functionality to develop but they are much closer to being able to support the size of our company than our previous software.

Cons

The services management component is excellent. The retail products management portion is still clunky, slow, and archaic. There are part of Gingr where you can update things for each location in one screen, but other functions (coupons, retail, pricing, etc) that you have to manage each location separately which is clunky.
