It makes me look really smart in meetings because the visuals are so clear. Fathom is for you if you hate manual charts in Excel. Pros I specialise in working with data but Fathom makes it look beautiful — like a narrative. So as a Research Assistant, I often have to present my boss With lots of charts and numbers. These reports run super quick with Fathom. It pipes into my data and boom — I have clean graphs. When we are overspending on a project it is quite easy to observe. Cons The small details in a chart are sometimes difficult to switch. The notes it produces after each meeting detail action items and who owns them. Pros I love Fathom, it is easy to use and helped me track action items from meeting. I could use my notes to make jira ticket requirements and it allowed me to fully focus on my meeting and not have to make notes at the same time. The summaries are clear and surprisingly accurate, which makes follow-up easier and saves me a lot of time. Cons At times, the summaries can miss small nuances from more complex conversations, so I still double-check details. But overall, the benefits outweigh the occasional adjustment. It can do multi-currency without me having to do the math myself (that was a shock); it will help identify problems in the business rather than having to sift through rows of boring number all day. Pros Fathom uses the information from Xero and doesn’t freeze up so that’s nice (I thought it would). Charts are acceptable enough for the shareholders so they won’t stare at me like I’ve lost my mind during the meeting. Cons Balance sheet mappings are basically useless in comparison to the P&L functions which creates pointless ratio comparisons. The software is also ridiculously slow if more than one person tries to work in it at the same time. Tax variables in the forecasting get screwed up and fixing them is a pain. August 1, 2025 5.0 It has been extremely good and I would recommend it to anyone. We are a small business, and it has made a significant impact on us in just a short time. Pros Fathom has saved us significant time and money, because instead of having to take notes and have our admin break those down into summaries, we now have more exact details, saving us both money and time. It has freed her up to do more of customer service, which truly is her job. I love that each one of my attendees always receive a copy emailed to them personally based off of what they logged in as. The owner and the invitee. During the meeting the software goes unnoticed. It doesn't have any interference of the meeting. Pros I like the fact that you can easily record meetings. The system will send an email to the other meeting invites, asking for their consent to record the meeting. It also gives the invites an option to receive a copy of the recording meeting. Cons After great thought, I can't think of something to dislike. Maybe the fact that an invite goes out to invitees in case you didn't need or want them to know the meeting was being recorded. Pros The recap email that is sent after a meeting. It's ability to decipher key points from the meeting and tap right into those moments is wonderful. I also love that at meeting time it reminds or autostarts the meeting. Cons The auto send to all participants needs to made very clear to customers before they start using the software. I've used several of report features, the integrations with other software platforms and sites, and overall had a very positive experience. Pros I love the reporting capabilities and how you can just build out a template to reuse over and over again over whatever period you choose. Cons The time it takes to refresh from pulling from external sources could be a bit faster in order to work more efficiently and get reports out quicker. Review Source Matt S. That meant we could create a financial statement format and duplicate it over and over and over as needed to generate reports.Clients also appreciate the clean aesthetic and reliable KPIs - our reporting, while customized, stands out from those firms dumping things right out of QuickBooks or building and re-building them in Excel. Pros Syncs to QuickBooks instantly, updates regularly, and allows for unlimited groups to be created for the consolidation of financials between multiple companies. Also, most reports can be exported into Excel if you need to do a little finessing. Cons The consolidated charts & graphs module is still in need of a few more granular features. Marketing Assistant Management Consulting Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Entreflow Consulting Group's use of Fathom" April 19, 2019 5.0 Given that our CEO, Helina Patience used to be a financial analyst, it’s probably not a surprise to many of you that this is one of her favorite apps to use at Entreflow. So I absolutely love this app and it's one of those apps that I can safely say is suitable for absolutely every business and business owner. It has a super easy ratio and profitability analysis. For those of you who are a little bit rusty in your ratios, it explains what those are and also has the definitions for your clients too Pros Our favourite feature is the sensitivity analysis. Within the app you can do “what if” analyses to see “If we grow our sales by this much, what does that mean to our net income?”, “If we change our mix by this much, what does that mean for our net income?” and there's a whole bunch of different things you can look at, but it's literally toggling a little bar around and it gives you a really clear indicator of how you would do. And then within the app itself, if you're sitting there with a client using the app you can actually see animation occur to show you a bigger picture of what's going on. You can also click on certain aspects to drill down and get more information which is just amazing given the amount of work that used to go into doing this in Excel. Cons We would love to be able to bring in non-financial data, and data from other sources like Google Analytics, your CRM information, your ERP, your Facebook analytics. Native connections brought there, or at least be able to connect data to a Google sheet so that on the non-financial KPI (key performance indicators) side of things, you can pull that data in super easily and get a bigger picture without having to manually enter anything in. Accounting Manager Accounting Used the software for: 2+ years ### "Fathom is a Go to Forcasting Tool" November 16, 2023 5.0 Pros Our firm has looked at a number of cashflow tools for our clients and we have not found anything else with as many features to build out a very detailed cashflow as Fathom has. There are options for drivers, mini budgets, and the bonus is the balance sheet forcasting. Cons It takes a lot of time to set it up. It also is harder to learn but once the tool is learned it's easy to use. When you're building out your forecast it is easy to mistakenly delete all of the amounts, and there is not an undo. you have to be very cautious on how you adjust your cashflow to make changes. Reason for choosing Fathom The ability to forecast the profit and loss and the balance sheet was key. You can reflect loan payments and changes in cash that would never flow through the profit and loss. It has been an absolute solid rock for our and our client's businesses. Free 14 day trial. It's a no-brainer. Pros So easy to use. Extremely beautiful. Logical setup and design. Forces people to focus on the right things easily and get deep insight into business results without having to do a whole lot of work. It makes it possible for non-financially focused people to engage deeply with business targets, results and trends in an approachable and exciting way. Cons The feature rollouts have been a bit slow in the past few years. Would love to see this app grow a bit faster. Cons Forecasting has some limitations (setting up calculations dependent on unit sales across different departments/products is cumbersome) but there seem to be new features/updates that release somewhat regularly. Fathom fit that to a T. Super easy to setup and link to QB Desktop, and it produces beautiful visualizations and dynamic analysis. The goal seek tool is really slick too. Quickbooks would have to do a lot to make me want to cancel my subscription. Cannot comment on support as I've never needed it. Pros Super easy to use. Links to online or desktop Qbooks.
