Many years ago I left AWeber because of their new user interface, which I didn't like. For many years I used self-hosted autoresponders, but the last one I had caused so many problems, so I had enough. I already had a MailerLite account that I didn't use, so I decided to try it out and was blown away. Extremely good service and almost all the features I wanted from an autoresponder, like segmenting, tagging (this is groups in ML), sending again to people who didn't open or click, easiness of use, and super-friendly, fast, and clever support. Pros MailerLite has almost everything I wanted in an autoresponder. And I've suggested the few things that are missing. Several has already been implemented, and one is on its way soon. I love how the people behind MailerLite listen to their customers. And how fast and clever their support is. It's impressive. Cons The things I like the least is the lacking ability to change an email address for a subscriber. But they are implementing this feature. And then I would love it if you could add automation to a segment and not just a group. But there are workarounds, which I've used. I would also love a clean text-only option, but I'm probably one of the few who would use that and not either HTML or rich text. Reason for choosing MailerLite \[SENSITIVE CONTENT\] replied to my email with questions that they would get back to me with answers, which they never did.When I asked Constant Contact if they accepted single opt-in from my customers, they kept replying the same thing in many, many emails: that it was best to have double opt-in.In both cases I figured that if pre-sell service was this bad, I wouldn't want to risk being in use of service after purchase. Web Dev Design Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "The new version is not worth it" May 28, 2022 2.0 Pros The old version was okay, it got the job done with a good price in comparison to a bloated MailChimp. Just simple email marketing and automation. I was excited for the new version to be released as it looked to be a step in the right direction for the user interface (as the old version was, very dated). However, after they released the new pricing structure, almost double just for a fresh coat of paint and a promise for 'new features' with none actually available on the launch, it seemed rushed with a lack of thought for their community. They asked before the release for feedback from the community who mainly focused on not heading in a MailChimp direction, price increases, continued live support, paywalls for simple features. Unfortunetly they didn't listen, the price increased, live support vanished unless you pay 3x more for a plan with only one new feature 'Facebook Audiences' which I can't comment on as I'm not forking out the money to test for it possibly not to work. The biggest downfall of all which really cemented that fact that they aren't listening or care for their original community base was zero migration tools being available at the launch of the new version. Your main customer, who are already supporting you and the most excited to test out your new platform, and they completly left them in the dark until an unspecified date stating the tools were going to be available within weeks, when they were later silently put up after month. Cons Cont. Which only moved subscribers and groups, something that could easily be done with a CSV file. They didn’t move your automations, pop-ups, embeds or previous campaigns and reports. Even though they had MailChimp migrations ready from the get-go! Which didn’t work mind you, the free trial only allows for 1,000 subscribers to be added (a new ‘feature’ compared the old version, which allowed more in the trial phase). So when migrating from Mail Chimp to the new MailerLite you were just hit with a stuck loading bar not knowing what is happening at all. As someone in development, the new platform was rushed to release. When creating a new account, you can no longer tether multiple accounts to one email unless you pay, which creates a massive barrier when creating accounts for clients, you have to do the whole ‘forward me the confirmation emails etc’ which just comes across as unprofessional. To dodge this you need to pay, which also means you have to ask them for payment details before you even have the account ready. The migration tools were a pinnacle in the whole new/old version fiasco because it really showed they didn’t care about the old customers. They even remove your affiliate link when migrating to the new version. When using their migration tools for the first time, after disappointment they didn’t really migrate more than a CSV file on information I started to create my automations from scratch, for the simple duplicating feature to fail getting prompted ‘A copy i Reason for choosing MailerLite Go back to Mail Chimp, or stick with your platform. The folks at MailerLite actually surprised me at how helpful they were in both the speed of their responses and the content of them too... like someone actually read my questions and actually answered them... not just sending me a link to their FAQ page, we've all had that kind of "no-help" help, and it can be maddening. MailerLite has been absolutely terrific, can't say enough good about them. Pros Once you get in a groove on the interface, emails are remarkably fast to create and send. Just about as fast as a Facebook post but obviously with a lot more direct reach. Cons Not a whole lot. The one suggestion I might have would be the ability to incorporate something like TINYPNG directly in to the interface. Lots of times I'll use the same graphics for a website and just upload them to MailerLite for the email. Saves me time when I'm doing work at 3am. Be nice to have a 1100px wide graphic at 150k knocked down in size, both mechanical and file size, automatically. It'd make for smaller email overall size. February 18, 2022 5.0 Mailerlite is hands-down the best email marketing software I have come across and it is so affordable. It does everything I need it to and the user interface is so intuitive and easy to use which means so much to me as a designer. I have used other email marketing softwares for my clients and always cringe when I have to use anything besides Mailerlite. I always recommend for my clients to switch to Mailerlite when I have the opportunity because it just makes my life and theirs so much easier. Pros The interface is my favorite feature. It is no-fuss, simple and just makes sense - just like it should be. I know where everything is at and it only takes a few clicks to accomplish what I need to. Also, I love how lists are organized with groups and segments - it makes so much more sense than Mailchimp. Cons I have had a 99% positive experience with Mailerlite but the one thing I have noticed that bugs me slightly is sometimes the plain-text email editor glitches when deleting or adding new sections. After weeks of research on the best and most economic way on how to send weekly emails to the subscribers of my small business , I choose MailerLite. What a mistake ! It turned out to be one of the most painful experiences as a small business owner. It turned out to be one of the most painful experiences as a small business owner. I give them credit, when it is due : Easy to navigate interface and professionally pre-made templates seemed a perfect match for my needs. As a small business owner, my first goal was to find a bulk email software that is easy to use and has a friendly and responsive customer service. For years, I used one of the major bulk email software providers, but they have become really expensive compared to what you get in return for these email campaigns. Finally, I made my decision and enrolled in one of MailerLite plans that seemed very attractive; at least on the paper! 15000 subscribers and unlimited monthly emails for $30!! WOAH !!! what a great bargain. Right? Not that fast ! They were very quick to charge my business card for the $30. I spent few hours to create a perfect email and uploaded my mailing list of 15000. and start creating the first campaign on MailerLite. This is where the nightmare started. When I wanted to send out the email, I received an email from their support team that I am not allowed to use more than 2000. ( i paid for 15000 subscribers with unlimited monthly emails) . I told them that I won't have it that way and they should cancel my account. They reached out to me and assured me that everything would be fine, hey approved me for 5000 and promised to increase my quote after the first few emails to prevent spams. Fair enough! After sending out the emails, they told me that I have breached their spam policy since the hard bounce of my emails were more than a certain number that they allow. I was not very happy with their decision but again, its their policy and I have to follow it. So I accepted their decision and didn't argue with them. But this the same email list that I have used with the other major email provider. I knew this is a small company with few resources and I have made a mistake. Obviously, I didn't want to pay for a service that I am not allowed to use. quite simple. So, I ask them to cancel my subscription and refund me the $30 that they have charged me !!! They kept me waiting for almost 4 days and then they told me that they have decided to keep my money ?!!!!!, and obviously they have access to all the 15000 subscribers on mailing list !! Customer service is the forefront of a business and I am really sorry to say that theirs is NON-EXISTING. Since the goal of this review was to save others some time and un-wanted headache, I have not mentioned any of the other competitors that make a much better option. Since then, I have signed up to another provider for only $5 extra and I could not be happier. I learned my lesson , cheaper choice is not always a better one. It is wiser to pay a bit more and go with a company with a better customer service and more resources. I used to use MailChimp, but the free account was changed in a way that my small business with a very small list would have to pay a lot to mail every now and than. I changed to MailerLite and I'm very happy about that! The personal support that's fast as lightning, is the best feature maybe :-) Pros Easy to use software and most of all: superfast and personal help, even for free accounts! Cons Swapping text and images from left to right with 1 click would make it easier to change your mind when making the campaign, video link with preview could be better, uploading new subscribers from chaotic shees would be great, excluding a few subscribers from a mailing would be nice without having to make a segment for them first, that kind of stuff. It's clean, easy to onboard, maneuver, and find your needs. I also love the newly improved help articles and their academy. Cons The only integration issue I came across was my Squarespace email; however, they currently have a workaround for that while they are working on implementing it into the new version. Pros From the beginning MailerLite was easy to use, intuitive despite its comprehensive offerings. I didn't expect to be able to do so much, and switched anyway. And then came the surprise of how complete it was. I have had nothing but great experiences with support. The built-in explanations are thorough and clear, but live support is just an email and a few minutes ' wait away. I love MailerLite and just talked to a former colleague about it. He's in the process of switching from our old favorite. I don't think you can do better. Cons Strange to say, the biggest challenge was that I thought it was harder to use than I thought. If you are looking for email services, they are wonderful. If you want to design, build and host your website too you might want to consider doing that elsewhere and pair those services together. Pros For the price we got a wonderful deal to be able to create and host a new website and also build our email following. In the end we were able to meet all of these needs at a very affordable price which was crucial for our new business. Cons Once you dig into MailerLite you can see that they added services over time - the website creation and hosting were not part of their original offerings. Plus there are lots of Youtube videos for help. I had Mailchimp for a while but it's difficult to manage and kind of "buggy" at times. Plus, the biggest drawback is... as soon as you figure out how to operate the features, and by the time you come back, they have rearranged everything. Oh boy!!😵 Now that I got my challenge solved, I'm pretty optimistic and looking forward to using all of the MailerLite features for my email marketing needs. ~ One thing though before I sign off. MailerLite and GoDaddy need to have a serious chat and get your platforms to play nice with each other. No shade on customer service. They were great!!One more thing, I think going forward the Growing Business plan should have at access to least one or two 24/7 chat sessions per month. Cons My profession email account is with GoDaddy Office 365. At this time, the Mailerlite platform is not compatible with Office 365. Yesterday, I spent about a half hour with \[sensitive content hidden\] to trouble shoot why I was getting a warning notice on emails while sending them to myself in test mode. \[sensitive content hidden\] thought the trouble was because of the word "test" in the subject line and recommended that I send myself an actual campaign. Which I did...Still no luck. So today, I contacted Godaddy, waited on hold over an hour, explained the problem to \[sensitive content hidden\] (Godaddy), then he stayed on the phone while I communicated \[sensitive content hidden\] (MailerLite) . Who figured out that we needed to update the coding on the GoDaddy Office 365 account. So for 2 hrs she and \[sensitive content hidden\] went back and forth with rewriting the codes so that Office 365 would Authenticate my account. I just tested a campaign and it's working. Yay!! Let me give a shout out to both \[sensitive content hidden\] for their help and patience. Admin Newspapers Used the software for: 1-2 years ### "Excellent email service" May 9, 2022 4.0 I’m very happy with MailerLite, the free tier is more than enough for my basic needs but at the same time very powerful and clean. Pros MailerLite is easy to deploy thanks to clear instructions and its KB, much easier than, say, Mailchimp. Support has been great and the learning curve is there but again much less steeper than the alternatives. The free tier is superb!!! Cons The old interface was functional but not especially good looking. The new version is miles ahead and on par with modern UX and usability expectations, although at times may look cluttered and too full of information.
