Using Fulcrum allows us to get all the data and take notes and pictures that are helpful in estimating pole make ready costs. Pros We have used other products in the past that were limited in their customization and required conversion prior to being useful in any standard GIS-based product. Fulcrum allows us to export quickly and visualize the data we want to export easily. Cons It used to be linked to our fiber design program, Vetro, but that is no longer available. It was a nice feature to have available for our folks. Pros Really enjoy the real time data collection and photo associations, the fact that there is no time consuming post processing work, and the ability to export a dbase from the collected data to create quick tables. Cons Wish there was a line collection option to delineate the perimeter of an object. Fulcrum has enabled us to win new projects and delivered the information requested by the client. Pros The software has been adaptable to many applications of field data collection. The form builder is intuitive to new users and scalable to more advanced applications. Customer service has been responsive. Cons It would be nice to have additional options for generating and customizing reports within the online platform. Project Manager Government Administration Used the software for: 6-12 months ### "Condition Assessment for Poles" August 27, 2020 5.0 Overall this system is easy to use both from an administration point of view, to the person updating the information and the end user. I was the end user but I did have input into the administration side. In the end it became easier if one person took control of the administration side of things otherwise if you have too many administrators this could make it messy when designing an app Pros It was easy to use. I could use it in the office on full screen, and I also downloaded the mobile version to my phone. This meant when I reviewed the information out in the field that the assessors completed I was able to see what they saw and ensured I was looking at the same asset when it came to asset verification. I also liked how I could download all the information into an excel table so that I could undertake further analysis and create pivot tables. The information is currently being used to advise a 4 year replacement program. I also liked how you could download a pdf file of an individual asset. This has been useful. Cons This system is not integrated into the companies business system so updating of the asset information is a lot harder. I think maybe next iteration I would add in a field in relation to data verification and whether the data needs to be updated in the main system. Reason for choosing Fulcrum Ease of use. This allows me to provide my clients the exact information they require. Utilizing the forms in the field saves a lot of time with automatic and predefined data collection. Cons I would like customizable PDF report format including layout and presentation. Reason for choosing Fulcrum Was used by a partner company and I saw its benefits In field applications. They are excited about the technology and find it easy to use. Pros Simple, logical, straightforward interfaces. Abundant built-in tips when designing data collection forms. Drop-and-drag features are nice. New users can get up to speed very quickly on using both the mobile app and the website 'control center'. Cons When you add a feature to a map while using the app in the field, it initially gives the feature map coordinates based on where the mobile device is located. If you aren't standing right at the feature you are mapping, then you have to adjust the location of the feature on the map after the data collection form opens. So this is an extra step in data collection. It would be better if the form automatically asked you to confirm the location of the feature on the map when you initially add the feature. Pros I am able to collect data and format it immediately into a useful data driven process. Eliminates extra steps. I am able to implement new functionality and fields as soon as I have the “a ha” moment. Sharing is great and immediate syncing. Cons Little control over the interface of the app or the data fields. Hard to re-order or group fields for easier input. If several photos are associated with one record I would like to be able to scroll through them. Currently you open one, close one, open another. Reason for choosing Fulcrum Structured data, ease of customization, pictures and audio, easy check box fields are really helpful in real estate. This data then had to be processed and presented to a government agency to be assessed for funding. Fulcrum allowed the creation of a form tailored to the exact requirements of the government agency. This greatly improved the time to collect the data and get the info submitted for evaluation. Pros The software is easy to setup, deploy and use. Ideal for semi skilled a data collection team. It results in consistent and repeatable data coming in from the field. Cons The total absence of an interface to the GNSS data stream you are using is a big disappointment. An interface to GNSS NMEA data stream and a simple NTRIP interface is all that is required and is typically available on competing products. The interface is clean and the user has to focus on the form they are using. This makes the software more efficient as a data collecting platform compared to others we looked at. We prefer to develop small simple apps with no learning curves that work on personal phones and tablets. We also want 100% data reliability because ground surveys are time consuming and expensive. Fulcrum has allowed us to do this flawlessly during the last year. Pros The speed and ease with which you can develop and deploy an app for a specific task. Data reliability. A fine but not overwhelming feature set. Cons Data manipulation (such as batch deletes or edits) have to be made outside Fulcrum and reimported. Pros The best thing that I have found is the ease of uploading and downloading data. The interfaces are easy to use and to customise. I have deployed the software to a team that are not technical experts and they were able to use the forms with minimal training. Cons As i am limited in what software i have access to it has been difficult to add background map data so that something is displayed when the mobile device has no coverage. Pros Fulcrum forms gives the used the ability to copy older forms and update accordingly. Saving time in the field when collecting data. Cons Fulcrum only gives you the ability to spatially map points, it would be useful to map polygons to represent what form data corresponds to. Reason for choosing Fulcrum Ability to easily create forms and develop additional software to output into a custom template form. The ease of operation in the field and data capture is very time saving. some improvment in the reporting functions would make this product perfect.
