Pros: MyCase is intuitively simple to use yet is rich in features.

The support is A.mazing. We had a couple of queries and one needed MyCase to dial in to assist with an install on a new machine, they are attentive, professional and resolved our problems.

Whilst this is a US focused product it meets all of our needs in Australia. Per seat it is definitely great value for money.

There are regular software updates with improvements.

We have NOT experienced a "bug" in their software ... it works.

It is also fast despite us being across the Pacific Ocean.

We have no hesitation in recommending MyCase.

Overall: High productivity in managing Cases between multiple practitioners in our practice. Keeps all communication and content attached to a case for ease of future reference.

Pros: It's affordable and easy to use - calendaring hearings/appointments, uploading documents, creating work flows, sharing information with clients. And tracking hours and generating bills has become a breeze.

Cons: Some clients lose the link to log in & access their profile, or they are unable to access MyCase easily. If the clients used it as much as I did, it would be perfect.

Overall: Has streamlined my practice, made billing quick and easy, and has all of my needed information in one place. Also, being able to share documents and calendar events with clients means I am getting fewer phone calls for basic information.

I love MyCase.com! It's made my job so much easier! Once place to keep track of everything!

Pros: I like how easy it is to navigate and how simple and to the point it is. Its not complicated like other programs I've looked into.

Cons: not much I do not like about this product. However, staying amount every month is a huge plus for me given that I am a sole owner of my company and like to keep my costs low.

Pros: Program is user friendly. It's a lot easier to communicate with clients, invoice, and see that the client received the invoice. You can send reminders very easily, and notify the client of up coming court appearances.

Cons: If would be great if there was a way to print labels. All of the information is in the system, and pulling the clients data and goung to another system takes a lot of time.

Overall: It is easier to keep track of clients, billing, appointments and paperwork. It has a great feature of letting me know my clients read my communication.

Pros: You can write notes on each profile and keep documents uploaded with just the click of a mouse. The client contact information is easy to find and update on the daily.

Overall: Our firm is able to work competently with clients and other employees.

My life (and solo practice) has become so much more efficient with MyCase!

Pros: The software has a lot of features but tech support is amazingly patient so in no time I was able to streamline so many aspects of my solo practice. I am most impressed with the client portal, time keeping & invoicing (snap of a finger!), and the ability to create workflows for my various practice areas. I am so much more organized and save hours on administrative tasks like billing!

Cons: I wish the dashboard (main page) had a monthly calendar right on the page so that I could see my month at a glance as opposed to having to click the calendar link.

Overall: Time management, organization and effective client contact and management.

Simple to use, delivers a s promised, exactly what a small firm needs.

Comments: Emailing of documents is just getting where it should be. It is getting better as I tested the new beta product and it works terrifically.

Pros: MyCase is very intuitive and simple to use. The calendar and email integration is great and the display screens are clear and uncluttered.

Pros: The value MyCase adds to my practice is worth a lot more than the monthly fee for the service.; I think the pricing is great. Also, it is extremely easy to use.

Cons: The cost for credit card processing is more expensive than what I already have in place. I wish it were cheaper so that I could send invoices from MyCase.

Overall: I love the organization it brings to my practice.

Pros: Affordability is one of the best benefits of MyCase. MyCase offers simple month-to-month, no contract obligation pricing a month for each attorney and /month for each paralegal. Another great benefit MyCase offers is Lawyer App which is compatible with iPhone, iPad or Adroid. Accounting features are limited within MyCase but with the ability to integrate QuickBooks, accounting is a snap. Collaborate, create, customize utilizing Legal Practice Management Tool Kit is another great feature MyCase provides to its clients. The automation software provides task template and case flows for repetitive forms via intake which is beneficial for estate planning, probate, divorce, and bankruptcy law firms. MyCase is the least expensive case management software available for law firms and would benefit small firms. Also, MyCase has been adding new features through time. You'll enjoy the time billing, firm reports, online payments, Quickbook integration, document management and collaboration features. I recommend trying the 30-day trial for free and check it out!

Cons: MyCase is the least expensive for a reason and with price, there are limits to features. MyCase is not as robust as its competitors if your law firm is medium to large. MyCase caters to small firms. If you are a firm that bills on contingency, UTBMS or LEDES, MyCase may not be for you. Also, MyCase only integrates with QuickBooks whiles others integrate with Xero too.

Only great experiences thus far.

Pros: Speed. Fastest way to create invoices. I like all the features that are already in place with the software.

Cons: If you don't "save" your work, you lose all your changes. There should be an auto-save function every 3 minutes or so.

MyCase is everything I need as a solo attorney--no more and no less. Affordable + user friendly

Cons: Mobile Application needs a few tweaks. Mobile application should show what has been done on cases. A feature that I cannot find.

Pros: The email integration and improvements as to file organization are great. Clients love the user end, which allows me more communication with clients without having to actually communicate.

Cons: The accounting/billing side could still use a little work. Adding interest is a bit of a task, some automated features in that regard would be nice. Also, there needs to be some better reports for attorney productivity. Attorney bonuses are based on billables paid, and there is not a viable report for that.

Very happy with MyCase. It's easy to forme to use as well as to receive payments from clients.

Pros: The monthly rate for this service is great for all of its uses. Payments are deposited in my account pretty quickly and love that the clients can send money using MyCase.

Cons: I'd like for there be a way to have different cases associated with the same client for purposes of billing. It's a bit inconvient to have to send a separate invoice for each different matter I work on for the same client. Also, AmEx isn't accepted which forces me to use another point of sale system to receive AmEx cards. Lastly, it would be great to allow clients to be able to book appointments through MyCase.

MyCase has enabled us to be in court or out of the office more with access to our files

Pros: Ease of use and accessibility from virtually anywhere. I also like that everyone in the firm can see one another's calendars.

Cons: Billing can be a bit tricky. It's probably the least favorite part as far as invoicing goes. Also, I wish you could select multiple documents or the PDF's at once, instead of having to download them one by one. I also wish the calendar would show you new events added by other users in the firm instead of showing a notification that someone added something to your calendar and then having to search day by day for what was added.

I live everything except the lack of ability to run a client's credit card directly.

Pros: Mycase has set their program up for excellent organizational use. It is easy to go through and understand things from the start.

Cons: I found out unexpectedly during a client meeting that I could not run the clients credit card directly...i had to send the client an email requuesting payment. The client balked and walked. My fault for not researching the system totally but nonetheless very disappointing. I use Lawpay now for most initial transactions.

Overall: The sense of peace of mind knowing all my files and billing are organized and accessible.

Good for bookkeeping matters, No flexibility in creating case lists or accounts receivables

Pros: It is great with record keeping, easy to use, customer service is helpful but because the program is fixed (I can't run reports using only a few specific categories) customer service spends most of its time apologizing to me for the lack of ingenuity on the part of the creators.

Cons: When I run a case/client report I am unable to select specific categories to report. It will run a case list alphabetically by the last name, but for accounts receivable, it runs alphabetically by the first name. First name. After I run a case list report I have to export the file and then go through manually and delete the columns I don't want in the report. Time consuming and frustrating.

Comments: Glad I picked this program !

Pros: Easy to use and love the quick payments. The client contact is great, bills look professional. Very easy to use from remote locations.

Cons: Outlook add in gave me fits at first , but all is well. I think Office 365 was the issue. Nothing else negative, now that I have it down.

Pros: Has case management and billing, it is easy to use. Works well. Good customer support. They generally get back to you within 24 hours. Billing can be used on computer or on your iphone to enter time, which makes it easy for on the go entering.

Cons: The trust fund aspect of billing needs improvement, otherwise the program has been meeting our needs.

Pros: Look and feel is excellent and summarization screens are simple and effective for quick information. The ability of retaining one's own organization is also key. The program is simple but carries a surprisinly high degree of flexibility.

Cons: Trust repelensihment billing really needs to be added to invoicing. Case listing can be a bit cumbersome at times, but alternatives in searching and bringing up cases compensates for this.

Comments: I haven't had the chance to use the payment module yet which is mildly frustrating but i'm looking forward to same. The company also offers related website services in support/conjunction which I am considering but am unable to advise otherwise on.

Pros: Setup is structured but allows you to add your own categories and fields in addition to tasks, notes, documents etc letting you put what you feel is important up front. Unlimited storage in the cloud to allow for document association as well as a editing program and the ability of clients to check status on their cases to the extent you want such are all attractive features.

Cons: The open architecture approach is welcomed but I would like to be able to organize more case type specific concepts more easily than what I can. The editing program only works apparently if the system you are on has MS word as otherwise the system will advise you to purchase same. The mobile application I believe it being upgraded but you cannot see tasks on it for the moment.

Comments: Our law firm has been using MyCase for several years now. The program is easy to use. Certain features can be customized for individual use which has been helpful for our office. Customer support has been awesome! I have contacted them on several occasions both by email and telephone. Any questions and/or technical issues have always been resolved. Support is knowledgeable and polite. They take the time to explain. I also like how MyCase keeps you updated if they are experiencing problems. Notification emails are sent. Alerts are also sent and customers informed when new program features and updates are added. MyCase is also open to customer suggestions as to how they can improve and work on certain features. I would recommend this program! Keep up the good work!

Comments: Comparing my experiences with MyCase, Practice Panther and Fresh Books: MyCase is easy to set up, is easy for clients to use and affordable (check to see if your state bar has a discount with them and ABA's is 20%). The downside is that there are some key features that would improve the attorney and client experiences. Some features I discussed with my customer service rep that were not available: 1. The big one: no electronic signatures and no integration with an existing electronic signature tool (clients have to print, sign, scan and return documents); 2. no ability to assign one billing point of contact for a client that is then linked to every matter/case opened for the client (must do it manually every time you open a matter); 3. no ability to auto-populate the address fields for contacts associated with the same client/company (which means more data entry); 4. no ability to organize individual general client documents (i.e. intake form, representation agreement) that have been uploaded unless associated with a case/matter (ended up having to create an "Admin-Client Name" case/matter for each client to hold the three documents we have on the client); 5.
clients receive a separate bill for every matter/case with no grand total; invoices are sorted by billing contact person rather than company. Setting up online billing was less convenient than Practice Panther or Fresh Books. MyCase won't let you use the online bill pay functionality during the 30-day trial until you purchase the software. Then they send you a 4-page agreement to sign electronically and return (ironic they use DocuSign but don't have an interface for us to use it with their software). Then they run a personal and business credit check and require you to send a voided check. Tons more red tape than online bill pay with LawPay through Practice Panther (which took minutes to apply and then acceptance was received the next day). So, after comparing Fresh Books, Practice Panther and MyCase, I am implementing MyCase with mild annoyances due to the inconveniences they create for setting up with them. But I've been told the experience of using them once set up is worth the headache of set up.

Comments: mostly intuitive operation, straight forward and easy to use.

Pros: Mobile app is nice with easy integration of calendar. Quick entry of new calendar events. Clients like having a portal to access case info and documents and for communicating with the office. Generating billing statements and "sharing" (sending) to clients is easy. Great to be able to accept credit cards and checks online.

Cons: Cannot enter new matters on mobile app. Would be good to be automatically begin a time entry based on the calendar events, i.e. time entry needed for court appearances or other events listed in calendar

Comments: The program is easy and intuitive yet lacks too many simple things, such as being able to set a reoccurring calendar event or a reoccurring task. There is no notification for a time entry not being made nor for making a time entry after completing a task.

Pros: Ease and simplicity.

Cons: Lack of features reoccurring calendar and tasks, lack of e-mail, lack of integration of contacts, calendar and other items into MyCase from other programs. Version on iPhone not the same as the online version and very limited, missing items available on the online version.

Comments: We have tried many legal organization and calendar programs. MyCase is very easy to use and basic. Our Firm primarily uses the calendar to keep the consults, deadlines, court schedules for each attorney. The tasks are useful for myself, and I can set up due dates and keep track of what I have to do. I also put payment plan dates in there to remind me to call a client if they have not made payment. We also use the billing feature to make our invoices look better. The way mycase keeps track of incoming money isn't the best or most accurate. For example when we bill out expenses, it still shows as income. Also, when you deposit something into the Trust account in mycase, and use those funds to pay an invoice, there are some quirks. We do not use the "trust account" feature to keep track of the real IOLTA account at all. Everything is very easy to use and someone who isnt tech savvy can catch on easily as well. During the use of it, we found that the name of the event you are putting in you have to list a clients first, last name and it needs to be spelled correctly, or you can not search for it in the search bar. Even if you link a calendar event to a case, it wont show up in the search bar. We do not use the message feature or document feature, we also do not allow our clients access to their online case. We just use the program for our internal use only. Overall I would recommend this to most law firms. Our Firm has grown from 1 attorney and 2 support staff to 4 attorneys and 5 support staff. So the monthly price of the program is starting to not be affordable for a calendar program.

Overall: We need practice management software, but we don't need the expense and hassle of maintaining a server or desktop apps. We were with another provider for years, but we were getting frustrated with the way their system worked. So we tried MyCase and have never looked back. It's about the best that you can get for the price point.

It is full-featured, boasting document merging and easy, precise trust accounting capabilities. It even plays nicely with Quickbooks accounting software. Contact and case management are intuitive. When you open a matter, you see EVERYTHING in one place, including the trust balances for clients, invoices, documents, notes, calendar - everything.

Reporting is weak. The way it imports calendars is simplistic and doesn't allow customization. The way it imports emails (requiring you to review messages one-by-one instead of being able to weed out spam in bulk) is abysmal.

Recommendations to other buyers: Use the client portal! Our clients love it!

Cons: There are some specific features that I find would be helpful to my practice, but otherwise I enjoy the software.

Overall: When I first started my law practice, I was somehow directed to MyCase. I loved the fact that it allowed a 30-day free trial to get me acclimated to the service and it's features. Almost a full year of practice and I haven't looked back. I love the fact that it's interactive with Outlook and you can't beat the price. It's well worth what I pay for it. I am constantly recommending the software to my colleagues who may be just starting out (like I was) or are just looking for a different PM software. Great find for my practice!!!

Pros: fairly user-friendly. Billing software works better than most other case management software I have used in the last 5 years. Clients can also access it and upload documents needed for their cases.

Cons: I think the software needs to be updated to compete a little better with Clio or RocketMatter. Calendar is glitchy and there needs to be an easier way to get to specific matters

Overall: I have used MyCase for about a year with a Law Firm I do some freelance work for. It is simple enough to use, but I have used others that I like better. The billing portion of the software works much better than the other 2 programs i have used in the recent past. Also I like that clients can upload documents to me through MyCase

Cons: Mobile app needs upgrading and more utility, but is excellent for the most needed purposes.

Recommendations to other buyers: Just try it. You need to use it to really decide. I waited as if the answer would come to me in the form of a pillar of fire or a burning bush. Just get off your hands and get using this product.

Pros: The price is right for a solo practitioner. Easy access by internet to contacts, cases, documents, and invoices. Also, clients can pay through my case. I like that I Can call and they will walk me through the process I am trying to use.

Cons: Creating documents has been difficult, so I just use Microsoft word and then download them to the case the document is associated with.

Recommendations to other buyers: DO the one month free but make sure you are ready to really use it.

Pros: Ease of use. The Company innovates and keeps trying to make it better. The fact that it does calendar, billing, trust accounting and links to my website makes it an all around useful product.

Cons: Clients who log in can not sort through entries. I find this inconvenient for clients.

Recommendations to other buyers: Easy calendar management, billing and trust accounting are easy to use and clients can log in and view their case.

Unlimited storage, access to archives even if you quit using the software, client access to files.

Comments: I see potential in this product, however as the owner of a small practice I would not recommend purchasing. My staff constantly complains to me about the restrictions, and difficulties in integration

Pros: The customizable 'workflow' feature is nice, it is helpful to be able to make a firm specific checklist to assign to each case.

Cons: BILLING BILLING BILLING! I can rollover outstanding client balances from one month to the next, BUT if I do it COMPLETELY destroys my Quickbooks sync for that client. There is basically NO way to write off a bad debt. When I (or my staff) call the help line the wait is tremendous and little is accomplished.

MyCase is simply the best practice management software a law firm can use. I found it incredibly easy to use. I tried all of MyCase's competitors (C***, R***********, B*******, etc). But, when I asked my clients what they liked, each answer was "MyCase." Every single one said MyCase was the easiest way to view their file, look at upcoming court dates, and interact with the attorneys.

Comments: We have had some issues with both MyCase's Trust Accounting. When we do our billing, most billing programs will show you the trust account balance along with the date, what type of withdrawal from trust and the amount. With MyCase, we noticed that on the clients bill, it only shows the deposit and withdrawal.

I would like for the client to see the type of withdrawal, such as a check to the clerk of courts along with the check number , this is not so with MyCase. When We complained about it 7 months ago, support told me I can get that report and print that out separately and send that with the bill. They realize it is a programing glitch and will eventually get to it. I have complained several times, only to be told they have more important things to add to their software, such as adding a picture to the contact person or some other meaningless function.

We are still waiting for this change so that my client's can have the information on their bill rather than seeing trust withdrawals and no explanation!

Comments: The batch billing is a mess. The only way to accurate do billing where you post payments from a client's trust account is individually. You cannot make certain features preset (like Notes/Terms) on your bill so you must add the language EVERY TIME you do a bill. It does not automatically carry over the balance from the last bill. There is so much wrong with this system we had to terminate our service.

Comments: There are several features that make MyCase vital to my law practice:

(1) Convenience and intuitive design for my team and for my clients. MyCase is an interactive platform where not only my legal team has access, but our clients also login to the system and have access through their own portal. Because of this, it is important that it be as hassle-free as possible for our clients to access and use MyCase, as well as our own team.

(2) Accessibility across any device, either through apps or the web-based portal. Our firm is a hybrid of a "traditional" brick and mortar law firm with an actual office but our systems are built around the sophistication, flexibility, and mobility of a virtual law firm. This means we are mobile and I try to be mobile a lot, often spending more time at clients' offices than at my own. MyCase's flexibility permits me to keep track of my activities regardless of where I am working and allows me to keep extremely accurate time records because I can enter them at the time the work is being performed. Of equal importance, this also allows me to be able to review my clients' invoices and work-in-progress at any time it is requested, from anywhere.

(3) The security features of the platform. One of the primary focuses of my practice is on information security, computer fraud, and data breaches which makes MyCase very helpful because of its focus on security. It provides me with a secure way to share documents with clients that does not involve unsecure email, and it also keeps the records of my case billings secure.

(4) The most important feature of MyCase isn't really a feature at all -- it's a culture. The MyCase team has always been very receptive to my feedback and I have made several requests for additional features and functionality. Just about every feature request I¿ve made has been implemented. They¿ve always been responsive and the company is constantly updating the platform and growing.

One of our first choices was to select MyCase for our firm and we are very glad we did. I highly recommend it for any attorney who needs to keep track of their time and expenses.

Comments: As an inactive attorney who is a litigation consultant, I perform legal research/drafting and litigation strategy consulting services on a contract basis to solo and small firm attorneys. I prefer to use MyCase with my clients because it offers a seamless group working experience.I have tried all 3 of the most prominent systems, but I immediately loved MyCase above all others. Before MyCase, we had to scan documents and then email different versions of documents back and forth, a process that was cumbersome and inefficient. The cloud makes it much easier to provide an efficient delivery of my work product, which is a huge advantage given how competitive the market is now. It makes both me and my clients more competitive. Using MyCase, we share file materials, documentary evidence, and draft documents, thus saving my clients the time it used to take to scan, email, upload, download, and process each file individually. The bottom line--MyCase makes it easy!

Pros: Easy document management and seamless group working!

Cons: None that I have found!

Comments: I tried several File Management programs, including an extended couple of months with my top contenders - entering each file in all 4 "finalist" systems. At first I tried to rotate which system I would open a new file in before repeating the details in the other systems. It didn't take long before I kept opening MyCase first and I stopped bothering to enter all the info in the other systems. MyCase simply met more of my needs and did so without requiring an expensive programer.

While I was doing my testing of programs, I also had a couple clients helping me evaluate the different client portals associated with some of the systems. They strongly preferred the MyCase client portal, saying it was more intuitive and user-friendly.

There are some features that I would like to see improved or added but I won't even bother mentioning them here. When I log on tomorrow, they just might be there - that is what happened recently with the addition of a Workflow feature. A very pleasant surprise that has really streamlined some file management tasks.

I also really like the true robust portability of MyCase with file access on my iPhone, iPad or Computer - not just a few features like some other systems. Thanks to MyCase, my sometimes office is a spot on the beach where I can enjoy the sand-dunes and waves!

Comments: Real estate agents love to tell you that the top three factors that determine a property's value are location, location and location. When it comes to case management, there are some similar lessons. I have tried just about every program out there. None are perfect, but I have come to realize that the most important factor is ease of use. On that metric, nothing comes close to the performance of MyCase. I have never encountered any software more easily adopted and implemented by my small office than MyCase. It provides the key features you need in a case management system in an intuitive, clear interface that you can start using in full without a moment's lesson or tutorial. It is not perfect. There need to be more fields available in contacts. There needs to be third-party integration -- such as with Dropbox and Evernote. What it provides, though, is fantastic. Adding new data is a proverbial snap: every MyCase screen has a button that allows you to add a new event, contact, case, message or whatever, no matter what you are doing at the moment. The program easily handles both my contingency fee, flat fee and hourly billing arrangements. The iPhone app is excellent. Most importantly, the client portal allows me to communicate with my clients -- sharing documents, events and messages in a fully customizable way -- easily. Lay down that transmittal letter and just upload the latest pleading and your client automatically gets an email alerting her to the new document in her case. The same for new case-related appointments or contacts. Your client wants to send you a note? She does so right within MyCase so the note stays with the case. I sell my clients on me in no small part by talking about that feature. MyCase is not perfect, but that goes to another feature. I have spoken on weekends to its founder when I have a support question and other times about suggestions. They respond quickly to problems and love feedback. There are other excellent programs out there, and personal taste is a big factor, too, in what works for you. However, I cannot stress how important ease of use of a program is, and nothing in that realm comes close to MyCase.

MyCase is must a must have tool for small law firms.

Comments: I have used MyCase for the past 18 months. I chose it after evaluating a number of practice management software programs and its price, ease of use and ability to adapt to my practice were the initial selling points. Since first use, MyCase has solved a number of structural, communication and time issues for my complex bankruptcy litigation office as a solo. The ease of organizing documents under one folder with Amazon S-3 backup, with the client able to see and access his folder was a big hit with clients. Even the clients who had limited computer skills praised its ease of use. The encrypted communications became a feature that many client's liked after the NSA disclosures. Clients feel comfortable talking about issues via encrypted messagese, rather than making an appointment, setting aside an hour for what turns out to be a 20 second answer. The new workflows process lets me see when a case is jumping off the rails, well before it becomes a problem, either in court or ethically. The only downside is that the graphic icons are a little cartoonish, but that reduces client's fears.

Most importantly, MyCase has given me time. What used to take a couple of hours every days managing the emails, e-filings and various paper documents, is now down to less than a half-hour a day. I actually leave the office before 6:00 pm most days, thanks to MyCase. I would not be able to take the case load I have right now without MyCase.

Comments: Sometimes in a review when all the stars are full we tend to think that the person writing the review is exaggerating or not taking the review seriously. However, when it comes to MyCase, there are not enough starts to fill, and not enough space to write a review that does the system justice. Suffice it to say that it has institutionalized my practice by allowing me to stay in touch with clients, new and old, and keep all their matters literally at my fingertips.
