The ability to automatically report information from our teams on site, capturing that information right in Scoop, and then presenting it for our clients has made our entire operation increasingly smoother. Scoop is a great software for continual process iteration as well, giving us the ability to take team feedback and modify parts of each workflow from information display to notification schemes. Overall, the buildout of our Scoop platform has made information handoff significantly easier between team members and our clients which has freed up the Captain Power team to focus more on doing rather than busy work and manual project updates. I really enjoy all of the easy customizations we can make on displaying different project info on certain workflow stages to tailor it for the individual team member working on that workflow. The ability to create different notification schemes, create conditional action items on a project, and nicely present all of this information into a color-coded, well-organized project dashboard has made our solar project management significantly more streamlined. Cons The inventory system was not quite robust enough for our operation as it expanded into multiple departments. Their team is very friendly and does offer great customer service. There is a lot of features that could use an upgrade (especially Work Orders and payment tracking). Overall, they are a good product that I am sure will continue to improve itself for their clients. Pros At first, it seemed we would like the interface the most. Everything can be customized, which is actually a pro and a con. Their customer service is great and they do provide a lot of support to your team. Cons It needs A LOT of time and resources to set-up. Due to being able to customize everything, there really isn't an "out of the box" option to hit the ground running. The team has been excellent - getting all our questions answered promptly and thoroughly and listening to our feedback. Pros We like how easy it is to customize without needed a technical consultant every step of the way. It's very strong for project management and keeping office + field teams connected. Cons The calendar. Only being able to schedule one event per Scoop is incredibly limiting for our company and we've had to revert to Google Cal. There's also some simple fixes that would go a long way, like "display all/hide all" options. We keep having to put bandages on thins to make them work,. Can't get the staff to effectively provide assistance. Pros It was to provide with an alternative to following job progress versus an Excel spreadsheet. It has not been able to provide this to us yet. Cons Lots of issues. Computer glitches and bugs make getting the information to everyone that needs to have it impossible. although we paid for training, the only training we ended up getting was training videos. Several appointment with Scoop staff for additional training was missed by Scoop personnel. Unable to get a single picture of the job status. Every solar, heat pump, EV project, and other electrification service we sell runs through Scoop, and the automations save us hours of admin work. We’ve been able to keep our operations team lean while handling all project management smoothly. It’s been critical for scaling our business without adding unnecessary headcount. Pros Scoop makes project management so much easier by keeping everything in one place. Our team uses it to coordinate between sales, design, and operations, and it ensures nothing slips through the cracks. Automated workflows, conditional fields, and integrations with our CRM and design tools have been a lifesaver. It removes guesswork, reduces errors, and gives our operations team complete visibility. Without Scoop, we probably wouldn't be able to do a lot of the customizations we do now. Cons The biggest challenge isn’t the platform itself but making sure everyone uses it consistently. They know what it takes from start to finish. There's a lot of things behind the scenes that people don't think about but Scoop seemed to have everything really dialed in for solar projects. So that was really enticing to us. The training that we've received as a company has been wonderful. The customer success team at Scoop is always available and you could tell they want you to succeed. Pros At a bird's eye view we can see how many projects we have in a site survey phase, how many projects we have in the design and permitting phase and how many projects are currently being installed where we're on site working. Scoop has everything in one place where you can have access to a lot of information where you're just a click or 2 away. We've used many tools over the years and it was always a problem having to log in to different platforms when you're searching for information. Scoop allows us to have everything in one place and you don't have to open 10 different windows and worry about all these different logins. It's just really organized. Cons Nothing comes to mind. It's been a great experience so far. Reason for choosing Scoop It's always been hard to find the right platform to manage these projects because we're not doing just solar. We're doing roofing, batteries, smart homes, gutters - so there's just a lot more that goes into finding that platform that you can encompass everything and feel comfortable managing each project. So in regards to shopping for other project management tools, it really came down to being able to manage all the different types of projects that we have. We would check out platforms that were specifically for solar or specifically for roofing and it would get us like 50% of what we needed to manage for our business. After we reviewed Scoop, we just felt really comfortable with being able to plug in roofing, gutters and batteries. I almost feel like Scoop is a project management tool for any business. The continuity from beginning to end enforces a single source of truth and reduces manual data entry or redundant work across departments. For companies with a well-defined business process, Scoop is an ideal tool to scale up in volume in a manageable way. Cons The least liked feature is the google calendar integration and making sure the crew on the scoop is in the google calendar invite. We have had a few learning pains with our engineers, but Scoop has worked with us to make the best possible custom forms such that engineers are easily able to use them in a field environment. Pros Scoop has great customer service. Every time we have a question or want to create a customization that doesn't exist, they're very quick to respond and work with us to make it happen. There are a lot of customization options across different parts of the software, making it possible to create forms that fit nearly any organizational need. Cons The user interface is not very pretty, and takes a while to get used to. There are a lot of customization features that are hard to find or hard to interpret their true importance. If you have a complex and constantly changing structure that you are trying to create forms for, it can take a little more work to set up than seems necessary. Review Source SM Steven M. Operations Manager Used the software for: ### "Scoop is a flexible tool to help your organization achieve it's goals" January 7, 2015 5.0 Our company had many commissioning and troubleshooting reps that were based regionally across the U.S.. We were trying to get a handle on the quality issues we were seeing by model and by region and had no effective way to document with the team always on the road and no central database to store information except email. Scoop allowed our team to classify and quantify the situation at each jobsite. The additional pictures and video with datapoints and captions were invaluable. We could create presentations to our factories around quality control and manufacturing procedures. With the built in analytic tools, I was able to spot trends, document issues, and react much faster than we could have using spreadsheets and email saving us on travel, replaced equipment, and our most valuable resouce; the time of our technicians. We were also able to keep case histories for each jobsite location and to keep track of what actions were taken previously and their result. It really helped our brand to be able to show up to a site where the customer is frustrated because the equipment isn't performing as expected and say that we know what the issue is and how to fix it. This went a long way toward customer satisfaction. Overall, the Scoop team was really enjoyable to work with. Any issues we had with the app were addressed promptly and they are continually looking for feedback to improve usability and functionality.
