Pros Relatics has a lot of configuration options, which means you can really tailor it to your own needs. Fine grained access controls make it possible to determine who can edit which fields. A large amount of file types is supported; Office formats, PDF, XML, HTML to name a few. You can link Relatics with other applications using an API. The application is updated very frequently. Cons Application updates need to be planned very carefully because they also update the database structure. Especially when a lot of data is in the database and/or the structure has been altered. You need a qualified administrator, because the product is relatively complex to maintain - there is a management studio, IIS setup and packages that need to be imported. As a result of this, more project areas can be implemented step-by-step in the database model. Through this, specific project characteristics and information requirements can also be considered. This also contributes to acceptance of the users and throughout the project organization. In addition, the flexibility of Relatics allows us to adapt to changing project requirements and conditions. We experience the user interface as intuitive. A great advantage is that it is web-based so we can work from different offices on the same project. Cons: Get the info from out of Relatics on paper needs some hand work or investments in other tooling. Overall: We use Relatics as a Requirement Management Tool as part of Systems Engineering in our projects nowadays and see lots of opportunities to expand the use of Relatics to other processes as well. Meanwhile we are extending the use with a document control system and we keep seeing more and more applications for using this software. Being a web-based software package also comes in very handy for collaborating tasks both internal and external. Cons: It is not software "out-of-the-box", you will have to define the information formats and their relations before you can use it. Since it is so flexible and versatile, a lot of thought must be given to the desired data structure before configuring. The larger the project, the more you benefit though small projects are equally able to benefit from Relatics. Pros Relatics is adaptable to any process and information stream you can think of and can link to existing systems and data without interfering. The setup and implementation process itself helps to understand how you are working and how the processes and information connects to each other, which is a benefit in itself. Relatics is web and browser based (cloud) and does not require any local install. It can be used on any web-enabled device which is great. Cons As with all software systems, implementation means getting used to a certain way of working, way of thinking and the use of new software. Once you get into the right mind-set the system is very powerfull. However, at the start getting people to use a new system may be tough. Although the user interface is fairly understandable, some aspects of the interface may confuse first-time users. Much if not all of this can be cleared during implementation and setup of the templates, though. Depending on setting, the licensing may be a bit costly. Easy to implement and use. All information is explicit and redundancy doesn't have to occurr. Pros Quick implementation of the software, after a few hours you can start building your information network. Available everywhere as long as internet is available. Configuration is straitforward and quite simple, no hardcore programing skills requiered. Youre free to develop your own network of elements, relations and properties. Information can therefore be modeled as fits best to your company or project needs. Used Relatics with succes for project solutions in the construction business for Issuemanagement, Requirements management, Workbreakdown structures, contract management an change management. Cons Freedom and ease of expanding and changing the i nformation structure can also be seen as a risk. A solution in Relatics does not resolve bad management. Not realy suited form managing process flows, can be emplemented but lacks smart options for notification. Since then there has been a lot of improvement regarding de user interface for the administrator and more for the end user. We use Relatics for all our complex and for some smaller projects. Pros Easy to configure. With the standard templates and layouts you can set up a new project very fast and easy. Relatics can be used for very small up to very large projects. When Relatics is configured in the wright way, it is very easy to access the information. Relatics can be used to support SE. Every field and menu item can be configured to be editable or read only per user role. Relatics supports webservices (Relatics webservices and external webservices). Relatics supports import of XML and XLS(X) files. In Relatics you can configure you own exports (XML, HTML, Word, PDF, XLS(X)). Relatics API's are available to program your own screen layouts. Relatics BV has their own helpdesk. Relatics BV provides Relatics courses for every level. New developments (use of tablet and smartphone) are constantly implemented in Relatics. Adjustments in the layout and menu are very easy. Adjustments in the layout are direct visible for the end users (can also be a disadvantage). Cons Because Relatics is so versatile, therefore it can become cluttered for the administrator. End users must be instructed in the wright way because the way to work is different than they are used to. Adjustments in the layout are direct visible for the end users (can also be an advantage). Pros For Semmtech the main pro is the fact Relatics is based on semantic technology. This solid and flexible base gives us the opportunity to \`model almost anything. Because we have clients in different sectors, with different needs en different challenges, the flexibility is a must in order to offer different applications and still use the same modeling strategy/approach again and again. Cons The only con so far is the fact that the software could extend its dedicated functionalities, for instance for calculations or data exchange. We do think Relatics will incorporate more dedicated functionality in the future now that the focus is on product life cycle management.
